Ubicacion
Poco personal
The restaurant food was great, best steak and sea food excellent
The gravel parking lot
El restaurant y la ubicación
Nada
How the rooms are separated, and the tons of natural light.
The size of the room, I like a little more space.
La ubicación
Mal predispuesto el personal que nos recibió. Lleno de cucarachas moscas y mosquitos, deja bastante que desear…. Caro en relación al servicio que ofrecen
Everything
Nothing
La ubicación y limpieza excelente
Easily accessible off the highway, tho set back a bit - I drove passed it initially & had to turn around. ~ The room was very nice, clean, everything worked. The Host was very nice.
Dinner was not as good as I remembered
The helpful suggestions for what to do in Guerrero Negro for the limited time we were there.
No refrigerator in the room.
Friendly staff. Clean room. Great restaurant on-site. Good parking. In town location.
Nothing really.
Nice restaurant. Greatbwhite sea bass dinner
Für eine Nacht okay
Zeltplatz und Caravaning hinter dem Hotel
The shower had a powerful spray and great hot water.
Beds were the old spring mattresses and a little hard for my taste.
It is clean and well kept.
It is hit or miss on what the rooms come with. First time had fridge and no a/c. Next time I had no fridge and a/c. Staff was not unfriendly but I would not say I felt appreciated.
The location was good. The parking out front was convenient. The restarant was okay.
Do not stay here. The guy at front desk insisted I pay an up charge for the room in cash. First it was 100 peso then 200 peso. Then it went back to 100 when I told him to get the owner on phone. NO UPGRADE .Just rip off. Then he wanted 200 peso in security deposit but refused to give me receipt so I did not pay it. No hot water, no air con and no fan plus the bathroom stun̈k like sewage.
Good spot and convenient for an overnight stay. Great price, not far off the highway. Very good restaurant steps from your room. Ample parking.
Easy to find and convenient. Restaurant was Good and reasonable. Not great town if you want to walk around. Asked for more coffee but never received.
Great boutique, Hotel. Staff and restaurant are awesome.
Staff was nice, restaurant was great. Shower water never got hot but otherwise nice stay.
It’s a lovely property with an outstanding restaurant and pleasant and helpful staff members. Lot of historical photos.
Excellent food and service in the restaurant
The hotel is outdated and not maintained at all. Expedia should not list this hotel, bathroom was dirty, the toiles was plugged and the tv did not work.
Very nice
Have stayed here quite a few times, the food in restaurant is always good. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Norman Bates would be proud! There are newer better options in GN if you have to stay there.
Nice little spot that was quite comfortable. There is a retaurant and mini mart onsite. Also found a great little taco stand next door.
Old Mexican hotel with an excellent restaurant
Old style hotel with simple clean rooms, friendly staff and an excellent restaurant. I had the fish soup which was one of the best I’ve tasted
Old but lovely place along our route to CA. Very nice accommodations and staff.
Not bad, good food, friendly staff, reasonably priced
Good restaurant especially if you like seafood. Beds were comfortable and room was clean
It’s old and tv was small.
Our second visit. A reputable motel with nice staff and an excellent restaurant. Rooms are suitable for an overnight visit en route to and from the USA or elsewhere in Baja. There is no way to recycle any plastic or glass, hence the poor rating on eco friendliness.
Room and hotel was dated and not very confortable.
Rooms a bit outdated. Lighting not good. Mirror in bathroom would be great for someone 6ft or taller. No toilet paper holder. The roll of paper sat on top of toilet tank. No towel bars to hang towels, & no where to place soap or shampoo in shower. The food in the restaurant was great!
I stay here often. Their restaurant and bar are good too.
Nice safe place to relax
Not a great experience. Host was unfriendly and room was not very clean. Marketed as a three bed, however, the 3rd bed was in a loft and accessible by climbing a ladder. Served is purpose on out trip south to La Paz.
We were traveling with a truck and a large boat and the parking was ample and secure. Very goid restaurant in site and room was comfortable and clean
Didn't like the grumpy checkin. Seemed we were a bother. Bathroom shower smelled unclean.Meal was less than average. Won't be back!
Great place to stay
Small quaint hotel with most of the rooms being little cottages. The rooms are basic and clean. The cottages have little patio areas where you can sit with friends, chat, have some drinks. I also like their gift shop! We went out see the whales
nice safe older hotel with a restaurant
Propiedad con muebles muy viejos
Generally it was pleasant enough. However the A/C didn’t work and the overhead light was not working. The receptionist was very nice and rustled up a fan for us.
We'll stay here again.
They charged me a 200 peso deposit for the remotes for the mini-split HVAC and TV which i didn't have a problem with, but when I told them that there was no heat or AC in the room they indicated that no rooms had heat. They said there were blankets. The outside temp was low 50's F and I needed a shower. Opining the door with the room key was such a challenge that I put my stuff back in my car and left it open when I went out to eat. The restaurant was less then friendly when I ordered a drink so I didn't eat there. It wasn't the worst place I have ever stayed, but there are much better options available in that town for a similar price.
It’s a good hotel for on the raid to la Paz trip
This place needs to be upgraded
Basic accommodations- terrible staff. Don’t buy a room with AC- it doesn’t work- and neither does the heat! Max towels per room- 2! We’re three grown adults. We selected this place for the convenience of the whale tours/ but would never recommend this place to anyone. Questionable wiring to our coffee pot, tv doesn’t work, hotel staff is rude , not. Accommodating for larger groups with little children.
Neat and clean room. Bare essentials only. The attached Restaurant has good food. Nice plants in the courtyard.
A good place to spend the night. Safe area for parking.
Just a good place to spend the night with a nice restaurant on my travel through Baja.
Cute little whale themed hotel. The staff were very nice and service was excellent.
My reservation was ready. Staff was fine. Room was adequate. No real perks other than the restraunt on sight which could use a menu overhaul after all these years in operation.
Close to highway
la ubicacion excelente
We were there only for the night, but want to go back and spend some time there.
As a combined RV and motel operation it had ample parking for all kinds of vehicles. A few puddles after a strong storm had gone through
We were passing thru nothing glamorous just a quick overnight stay.
There was no hot water in the bathroom sink, no ceiling fan, only a portable floot fan
This hotel is our favorite in the area. The staff is all incredibly friendly, the hotel is cleaner than any other hotel in the area, and we love the traditional vibes. Make sure to eat in the restaurant so you can check out all the cool traditional Mexican decor, maps, and photos!
Easy access
Stop
Like many others I had a one night stop in Guerrero Negro and stayed at this property. Not a comfortable stay. The air conditioner did not work. The television remote control did not work. They provided no wash clothes, and no hand towels. The gap under the entrance door is just wide enough for bugs to crawl through. The parking lot is dirt, so on windy days forget about being clean. Needless to say, I left as early as possible and won't be back.
This property is old and pretty run down. There is a restaurant and novelty shop on site. The room was awful, bedding was dirty, pet hair on the bed, windows covered in cobwebs, no way to circulate air without allowing in flies. The coffee maker was never cleaned, moldy old grounds left in the filter.
no A.C. Had to change my room because the sheets had hair and wrappers. Not friendly no smiles not family friendly. Will not consider coming back. Bed was not comfortable
Old school Baja, nothing fancy but lots of character
Stayed here one night while driving down the Baja. It is located on the Main Street. Easy access into and out of the park. I stayed at the RV park which is essentially a parking lot with full hook ups. We have a 31 ft RV and fit just fine. The restaurant onsite is really good.
Nice clean hotel, restaurant was good too.
On site parking. Desk service by employees not too friendly. Huge room!
I paid when I arrived again and I had already paid with you so i paid twice
Stayed here for one night while driving down Baja. This a simple hotel located on the main street into town. My bed was comfortable. The room was clean enough. The restaurant onsite was adequate. Not sure what is in the surrounding area since I arrived late and left early. Overall, this place was average and nothing special. It was fine for a one night stop over and I would stay here again when passing through.
We went for the whale watching and stayed at the associated Malarrimo Motel. It poured almost the whole time we were there, but we had a great time. Everyone was so nice and the restaurant was VERY good--and served excellent margaritas! It's not fancy, but adequate, comfortable, and affordable.
We considered staying here as it's in a good central location and we were doing the whale watching tour with Malarrimo. However after looking at the room we decided we'd go somewhere a bit nicer as we were in town for a birthday celebration. The rooms are basic but they're fine. The staff were very accommodating with providing an early check in as we came in by overnight bus early in the morning. The room cleanliness could have been improved. There were crumbs on the bed and the bottle of water that was provided was open and half empty. Perhaps they had missed a few items in their rush to get the room ready for us. Their common areas are very nice and some of their staff speak English. You can also book via email, which was handy for us.
Sadly we were there because our car broke down in guerro negro. BUT these guys made our stay so so amazing. Super affordable, good water pressure for nice hot shower after whale tour. Great food... great service. Super friendly bar staff. I have never stayed in guerro negro before with probably 20 Rt drives down the baja. This will now be one overnight stop EVERY time....
Rooms are in small structures to the side of the restaurant. The room itself was ok, but strong sewage smell from bathroom. Couldn't make myself use the shower. Also: lots of noise from the kitchen, I believe, via the air conditioner. Convenient lot and location, but wouldn't stay there again.
This was exactly what we needed, a place to stay in between whale tours. nothing fancy, clean, comfortable rooms with charm. The restaurant is conveniently located in the main building too. It is also super convenient that their whale tours leave from the property, all you have to do is walk outside the room!
room was very cold in the winter (Dec 31) but no heaters were available. bedding was rough and not comfortable, even for the price. clean place overall YOU MUST GO TO THE ASADERO. the tacos are incredible, and a la carte items were so flavourful
This motel is usually my dependable one when driving up or down the Baja, as it is halfway to the bottom. I choose it because the rooms are clean and they take pets. This was the first time I was put in a separate building because of that, though. So my room choices were limited. The room was clean and perfectly ok for a night on the road. The guests next to me, though, had no pet, but were up all night partying. So about the time I was waking up to hit the road again, they had just fallen asleep. So that wasn't cool. The best part of staying there is their restaurant. The staff is always so nice and the food is great. In the past I've met some very interesting fellow guests. This time I was the only one in the main dining room. Had a great seafood meal, though!
Guerrero Negro is truly in the middle of nowhere, but since it's the half-way point between Tijuana-Los Cabos, plenty of visitors stay there. We made a reservation a month early and caught the bus in Tijuana @ 9PM & arrived 8:30AM the next day in G.N. The staff very kindly allowed us to check in when we arrived there @ 9AM. We signed up for a whale watching tour @ 11AM, which was totally worth $50. We were the only 2 on a boat that holds 12! We love Malarrimo Motel and will return next year. The rooms are basic, the wifi spotty, the food expensive. There are other, less expensive, eateries with-in walking distance. Really enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere! G.N. is famous for the whale watching, but also for the sunsets, the worlds largest open salt-works mine(?), & the Osprey (birds) that build large nests atop telephone poles. Also, tours can be arranged to visit cave paintings
We stayed in the ‘dog’ room which was pretty basic but clean. The plumbing was a bit tricky but we made the best of it. The best part of our stay was the restaurant. Our meals were outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff are very engaging and friendly.
Our stay at Malarrimo Motel (MM) was a real treat. Clean, nice and around for years. The MM is family owned and also run Whale Watch Tours from the MM. The MM has rooms and well as RV spaces. There is a nice bar for mean Margaritas..Try it with an extra shot or "Caballito." Restaurant is quite good and we ate fresh local fish for dinner and in the morning before our Whale Watch excursion we had a excellent Mexican breakfast. Looking forward to our return, but this time with friends.

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
5.5/10Mixed reports: several guests praised rooms as clean and one review explicitly called cleanliness excellent, but a serious report of cockroaches/flies/mosquitoes and disruptive housekeeping lowered this score.
Service
7.8/10Generally helpful hosts and useful local suggestions cited; however at least one guest reported unfriendly reception and housekeeping intrusion, so service is slightly above average overall.
Location
9/10Multiple positive mentions of location and accessibility (convenient, easily reachable off the highway, guests repeatedly noted the location as a strong point).
Room Quality
7.6/10Rooms praised for separation, natural light, cleanliness and functionality, but some guests found rooms small and noted lack of a refrigerator for certain stays.
Amenities
7/10Food/restaurant often praised, parking available (though gravel), but some missing or problematic amenities noted (no fridge in-room for some, earplugs provided due to noise).
Value for Money
5.8/10At least one guest explicitly called the hotel expensive relative to the service offered; combined with service and cleanliness concerns this pulls value down.
Food and Beverage
8.6/10Restaurant repeatedly described very positively (best steak and seafood, great food), with a single mention that dinner was not as good as previously remembered.
Overall Experience
6.3/10Mixed overall: several guests were pleased and would stay again or found it very good for short notice, while others reported severe issues (pests, unfriendly reception) and would likely not return.
Explore a dedicated restaurant on site with well-regarded options, including robust steak and seafood choices that guests frequently praise.
Free parking is available for guests, complementing easy highway access and a practical stay for road travelers.
