Reviewed Sep 1, 2026Booked late , got last room , soaking wet from a long motorcycle journey and rescued me - I explained my predicament and the last hotel not allowing me to stay a warm smile greeted me and helped me get some food . The hotel was clean warm and the staff welcoming , great buffet breakfast and no charge for late leaving - dried all my bike gear and charged my phone , I liked the USB sockets - big bed and plenty of space -plus a metal hoop in the car park next to the door with CCTV to chain up your machine
Gave me a great stay on a wet bank holiday Sunday , as biker it was appreciated that the accommodation met my needs and got my gear dry and warm for next day - booked at 11.30 pm and met at door on arrival at midnight

Reviewed Aug 31, 2026I chose this location knowing how far we were from our travel purpose as we like to try different locations. Loved the fact that it was located near the canal. The room we were given was a family room which was very spacious although there was only 2 of us. The room was very comfortable and clean. Had a great sleep, in fact I slept longer then I have ever done before. Loads of parking for guests which was free. There was ample room if the hotel wanted to invest in room mini fridges. This would be great especially for longer stays. Would I stay here again, most definitely.
I can only really say for me personally, I did not find the hot buffet breakfast to my liking. Mainly due to the fact that the food was not hot enough which others may not mind. If I could have zapped it in a microwave for a minute or two would have been good. Understandably they are catering for a high number of guests, hence the buffet. We did not eat there for lunch or dinner so cannot comment.

The room was clean and I especially liked the fact I had a 2 seater sofa and and arm chair as well as a chair to sit on. The shower was good and powerful with a bowed curtain to give plenty of space. The restaurant adjacent provided good wholesome food for the evening meal and breakfast.
Can’t think of anything off hand that I didn’t like.

We had to go to the pub next door during opening hours to get available drinking water. The one staff I saw in reception did not speak good English and was ignorant also.

Very nit picky but the pillows were too soft. There’s a bit of noise from the pub and beer garden next door but nothing too bad.

Bit dated. Needs air con or at least fans for extreme weather. TV was the smallest we had ever seen in a room. Corridor smelt of weed - altho this wasn’t down to the b&b - not very pleasant for other guests.

Tried to rebook for next year but the price for 2 nights is showing £720 currently. Not sure what's going on with that. We paid £166 over the weekend.

The carvery meat was tough, as though it had been out for quite a while although the next joint put out looked fine. The room was decorated in an oppressively dark colour. No air conditioning. No fan despite the intense heat. No slip mat in the shower

Reviewed Jun 11, 2026The parking was great and well organised, the staff on arrival were lovely and friendly. They explained everything briliantly and with ease. The parking tablet was not working and they sorted it calmly and we enjoyed a short conversation. The room was great size wise and very clean, very happy with all aspects of the room and for the money this was exceptional value. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and nothing was hurried, staff lovely.

Reviewed Jun 1, 2026Room was ready earlier than expected, good location for what we wanted, especially being next to the pub, a group of us came on Friday afternoon and stayed 2 nights. All day carvery in the pub was excellent, good value for money, reasonable choice of beers and drinks.
Room was really hot during the night even though the heating wasn't on, and with the canal being adjacent the hotel a nesting seagull kept squawking when it was getting light meaning I couldn't open a window. Breakfast both days was adequate, not a massive choice of food but enough.
