I arrived at the Moxy Shanghai after a 30-hour international journey, completely exhausted. What I encountered was unacceptable. Zero English spoken at check-in. Not even basic communication was possible. I was met with blank stares and confusion at every turn. My room felt like a sauna. The air conditioning was broken. At 4am someone finally came, looked around helplessly, and left without fixing anything. The next day, a maintenance worker claimed the room was 11°C. That’s simply a lie. It was hot, stuffy, and impossible to sleep in. TV had no English channels. Despite advertising international service, there were zero English-language options. Breakfast was inedible. Poor quality, limited options, and not geared for international guests. Overall management is disorganized and dismissive. Staff are not trained to handle foreign travelers or even basic guest comfort. If you’re looking for rest, don’t come here. If you’re expecting any level of international hospitality, this hotel will frustrate and disappoint you. This property is not suitable for foreigners and absolutely not worth your time or money.

The property was alright it’s just the location alittle distance away from all places. Definitely require vehicle to get around places .

The Hotel was nice and clean. Very modern. The staff struggled to speak English but they tried their best to help. The Hotel is quite far from the Subway so you will need to book and taxi everything to get somewhere.

Overall, all good, stayed there couple of times, and used their facilities, however, they now started to charge extra for using their swimming pool, which is odd: this is and must be a new thing. The rest was fine, they recognised Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite Status and honored the welcome drinks, 20 percent off in their restaurant, and complimentary breakfast. Room itself all good, when I asked to getting bed sheets replaced, due to my spouse not 100 percent done with her period and bit of blood stains, they still called and specifically asked for the reason. I don't think I need to explain specifically why there are stains, or the reason for wanting it to be swapped.

I did not like this hotel at all.

There is nowhere to put your clothes pegs on walls to hang your clothes is unacceptable , fold up chair and table for when you need to use them is a terrible idea and you need to hang them up on the pegs as well. The bar was never open , The staff don't speak English and there are no restaurants or shops anywhere near here. This is not a place I would recommend if you are used to staying at proper hotels. There is a very basic menu for evening meals to be had in a canteen style sit down area.

Although we were disappointed with some of the hotel staff, we were very grateful to Julie - the female receptionist for helping us a lot when ordering food on the app (we are foreigners so we couldn't use e-money, we only had cash), and also to a lady (older and short hair, I'm sorry I don't know her name) for lending us scissors, tape and an empty box. They were very enthusiastic and kind staff, they represent the great Chinese people

we were quite disappointed with the hotel service, i don't think the quality of the room and service here is worth 4 stars. 1. the first day when we asked to borrow more blankets, the answer was no blankets, it was ridiculous because such a big hotel doesn't have extra blankets, finally i got 1 blanket after a few hours of searching by the staff. 2. the 3rd day the cleaning staff arbitrarily tore my personal towel (i don't understand how, the tear was very big and there were traces of heat used to damage it), i reported to the male receptionist and they said it wasn't the cleaning staff's fault. although i was very disappointed about this, i let it go because the value of the towel was very small and we were very busy. but what if this happened to valuable items? we would definitely call the police. 3. Towels and disposables were not provided for the following days when the staff came to clean the room 4. On the last day when we were about to leave, we asked the male receptionist to borrow scissors, tape, and some boxes to pack our things for the airport but he replied that he didn't have any, without looking for them. Even though we knew this was a lie, we still had to accept it and find a way to pack our things ourselves. p/s:This hotel is far from the center and there are not many amenities around.

On my last day I changed the room and was given used dirty quilt and dirty towel ( smoke smell) i called the staff n made them smell. I don’t smoke so it was bad experience couldn’t sleep whole night

The Hotel is Good. But the Location is off beat with no nearby shops within 3 miles for any small basic item if required to be bought. So you always end up paying for Taxi more than the product that would buy at a super market or a store.

Have been staying here since April, 2022, almost two years ago. Yes, it's a bit odd place with very minimal furniture and quite concentrating on "fun" factor (for young crowd I guess). However, my experience has been quite pleasant and staff has treated me well. I personally like the atmosphere of the place and since I have a driver, the location doesn't bother me too much. Of course, short stay tourists be aware of it and plan your stay accordingly. There is practically nothing around in terms of shops and restaurants.

Don't this hotel concept the rooms are tiny the bed hard the design and layout is a put-off for me the room had no table and chairs no workspace no air to breath to clostrophobic service was ok. The entrance to this hotel is hard to find. Nothing to do around the hotel need to take a taxi to go to a shop. Won't recommend this hotel for business travelers like me.

I had a last minute plan to stay near NECC for one night and had wanted to try Moxy brand for a while as it is not available in many countries I visited. I read “mixed reviews” prior to booking and decided to try anyway for the sake of experience, and I found out many of those reviews were not fairly assessed. The brand has its own unique characters, and we should expect them to be different from other typical Marriott brands. I found Moxy brand characters to be interesting and unique. Location and price generally go together, this location prices itself very low on October 16, 2023 (300 RMB/night), I can say with confidence that Moxy quality here is much more superior than its price, both on amenities and services. I saw some prior complaints about lack of upgrades and poor breakfast, as a Titanium, they upgraded me to a large King room which to me was a very clean, nice and comfortable room. The hotel is still quite new, I found the decoration and furnitures very practical and well set up. The bed was very comfortable and I had a good sleep. I was very happy with the room and hotel conditions. Breakfast was more Chinese tailored with very limited western choices, but the brand is intended to be more locally targeted so it should not come as a surprise. I was happy with the breakfast spread because I like Chinese food. Welcome amenities were surprisingly too generous. You can choose either 500 points or $10 USD (72 RMB) food&drink credit, in addition, they give 2 welcome drinks. I chose the F&B credit because I wanted to try their food (beyond breakfast) to experience their food quality and I was so happy with that choice because the beef rice set was so delicious (78 RMB, I paid 5 RMB difference). For such a low room rate, such welcome amenity pretty much means a complimentary (and complete) meal set was part of the roll rate. If I return to the property, I will order the exact same meal set because it tastes really good. While staffs may not speak good English but that was to be expected and to me they were very courteous and trying to service. I was very happy with the front desk/bar staff, they were all so nice and friendly to me. I used google translate to help out and it worked fine. They also generously allowed me to upgrade the 2 welcome drinks by paying the difference. That was so nice of them to let me do that. I don’t think they had to, but they allowed it after I politely asked. I also saw some other complaints about poor location and road conditions, on their defense, don’t you know where the hotel is located before booking so it should not be a surprise that it’s not perfectly conveniently located near subway or a shopping mall, right? I also arrived from Hongqiao area in a car without any road condition issue. The hotel is only 2 km away from the nearest subway station. I will definitely return to this Moxy if I have any future plans to stay in the same area. Note that the stay and points were posted the very next day after check out. It’s my first ever Moxy stay and it really becomes my new favorite marriott affiliated brand. I really appreciate the staff and the experience.

Staff were all super friendly. Beds are comfy and amenities in the room were good. We were visiting friends in the area so the location worked well for us.

Sounds from the passageway really travelled a lot. No noises from our neighbours but could hear most comings and going from the hall outside

- English speakers ( they are trying) - no room service food only certain times. Close early. As an international hotel , they should aware that some visitors are foreigner so they don’t know much in country. So the hotel should have sevice food in hotel.

Relatively close to Hongqiao. The wifi worked well and easy to use the laundry machine in the 2nd floor. The lobby is quite cool with many things to play or chill. The staff was great and helped me with 3 issues.

The corridors are smelly and my first room did smell too much so I requested to change the room. The second one had no problem.
