Staff really friendly and helpful. Good and prompt communication Location fabulous - interior lovely - good breakfast
Nothing
The room was amazing. The cocktail bottle downstairs and the staff was so pleasant. Breakfast was really nice. The room was so comfortable and it was exactly as described
Nothing
Quirky, and fun place to stay. Breakfast was good.
Drawer front missing, carpets threadbare on the stairs. Booked and paid for a room with Wine/Champagne. None provided, when I questioned it, they rang the manager who said its an error on booking.com, no apology, no wine/champagne. Totally spoilt my visit.
Location
Late check in, no parking and breakfast finished way to early
The lady working was lovely, walking distance to the wedding we were at. Breakfast and coffee were great.
Beds are quite small, and breakfast finishes quite early.
We liked the convenient location, breakfast and cleanliness.
The back entrance was a bit tricky, and the door didn't open easily on our first night.
Location, style and friendly staff

Staff member extremely friendly and helpful.
Room size was very small and minimal light from a tiny window. Overpriced
I loved it all brilliant service its was so clean just what I needed the day before my wedding the staff went above all expectations
Handy for the shops
Dusty lamps, dirty shower. Breakfast do not recommend
Abbey was great and very kind
It was, unclean did not look like the photos
Great bar downstairs, helpful staff, great location
No complaints
Staff were exceptional
Good staff and location
Breakfast was lovely, good choice of options and easy to request from the menu. Staff were friendly.
Such a lovely place! Really warm and welcoming from the minute you walk in. The inside is gorgeous — really stylish and high-end, with beautiful furniture and so much attention to detail. Just a really lovely atmosphere and somewhere you instantly feel comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Great Location
Very clean Lovely breakfast
Not wheelchair accessible
Just wanted to say thank you for a great stay! From the offset, we were worried about parking but when I called up, the lady who answered was very helpful with clear instructions. The staff were very welcoming and friendly! We were given our keys and shown how to order breakfast. Me and my wife had a special dietary requirement, the staff were quick to attend to our needs, letting us know that they can go and grab what we needed for breakfast! The room was clean and spacious. Absolutely loved the bathtub, it was a well needed wind down! Will most definitely book again! Thank you for making our stay very memorable!
The bath,room and location
Nothing
The hotel was lovely. All the staff we encountered couldn't have done more for us. They were all super helpful and friendly. The room was really nice as well, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The copper bath was great. Also having a free 24 hour car park close by was a big help.
It was all good. I'd say it was a little pricey. But we were both happy when we left and didn't feel over charged.
good location in centre of town. Good breakfast and friendly helpful staff
dark room, no storage, no hooks or shelves in bathroom, no staff there after 9pm so have to go up back stairs to enter building. This caused a problem one night when I could not get access, luckily I rang the emergency contact number and somebody answered the phone very promptly and was able to help me gain access. My toilet did not flush on first night and morning and staff moved me to another room. Very dim light in room made it difficult to see anything or to read in bed.
The place is so unique and beautiful
The staff were very welcoming and friendly
Amazing place to stay. The staff were lovely and friendly. The room beautiful. I would highly recommend.

Breakfast was nice
The bedroom decor especially the wall paper is dated and old fashioned as if it’s from a Victorian age.
The warm welcome Amount of space THE EXCEPTIONAL VIEW

The bed was very comfotable ans lovely friendly staff
Only 1 thing shower did not work
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Very hot stay, restricted window opening and no aircon.
The staff where excellent
Location was fab host was friendly
Sink didn’t empty, shower was stuck on hot , floor boards creaked when walking , dark hot room not worth the money
Room was adequate. Comfy bed.
Rear access after 9pm was not the most obvious and we had issues with the code.
Good location , good bed .
Broken hard to reach cord for window blind. Kettle with no obvious place to plug it in . Very creaky floor , lots of late night noise from fire door back entrance . Poor breakfast choice- ordered bacon sandwich , came on dry brown soda bread !
Welcome on arrival, friendliness, willingness to assist, ease of checking in and early access. Room quirky but certainly appreciated along with the complimentary upgrade. Abbi throughout from the initial booking to arrival and excellent levels of customer service & engagement making us feel welcome, valued and special, priceless. Then last engagement before leaving breakfast was fantastic.
Possibly parking, but no real issue with options.
Absolutely lovely stay, what made it even better were the staff. Thank you
Brilliant hotel, staff go out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast is excellent good choice freshly cooked. Great location to explore Morpeth and surrounding area
Room tiny, bath dirty and water only trickled out. Wallpaper hanging off. Bed really uncomfortable.room very warm only a tiny window to open Breakfast ok but put off by amount of bluebottles flying around
The cocktails
Room tiny very hot tiny window Bed terrible uncomfortable Bath dirty water trickled out Wallpaper hanging off Flies in dining area
Room was great
The breakfast was cooked in some funky oil that tasted disgusting
Room was very clean and stylish. Check in was super efficient. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a great location, right in the centre of town.
Room was quite small, breakfast was disappointing.
Good location, staff are absolutely incredible and the breakfast was decent
People running up and down the halls all night, couldn’t turn the bathroom light off, mattress was uncomfortable, blind was broken and stuck open so light just flooded in at 6am
Great location, lovely room and very comfortable bed. The lady who checked us in and served breakfast the next morning was fantastic. So friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Nothing
Great room and staff very friendly
Location of hotel is situated right next to the neigbouring clubs and pubs so we could hear everything from the room outside, which cant be helped but it did make for a late evening. No evening food apart from lite bar snacks available.
All lovely generally. The lady who checked us in (and seemed to do everything else!) was kind and helpful and could not have been better. The room and bathroom were very comfortable and well stocked. Breakfast very nice too.
It would have been very nice if there had been a small cupboard/wardrobe in which we could have hung our clothes. It may have also been of help to point out that the bathroom did not have a light switch (I spent quite a bit of time looking for one!) Finally, the choice of breakfast could have included the non-cooked kind (cereal and toast etc)
The room we stayed in was beautifuly decorated the bed was very comfortable good nights sleep
Access by stairs from the back and the locking system not very good for elderly people not much option for breakfast no cereal
Quirky decor & friendly & helpful staff. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Quality of the room was good. Bar had a good choice of drinks & cocktails.
Bedroom & en suite were very small & the window was very high & you could not look out. Bar closes at 9pm in the week.
Central location,
Great location and lovely room.
Nothing.
The hotel has interesting decor and we liked the thick stone walls. The staff were great. We chose this venue for the location which was excellent. There was a kettle and hairdryer in the room, which was very clean. We had access to an iron upstairs and a back door for out-of-hours return.
The room was very compact - it had clearly been a larger room once and divided in half. There was nowhere to put bags except the floor, and there were no hooks on the walls so we ended up hanging clothes over the mirror (which meant we couldn't use the mirror). The bathroom door blocked access to the mirror over the sink. Shower fittings came off when we tried to shower and it was unusable - we were given the key to another room for showering (the same fitting came off in the second room too, but that one was usable at least). I'd called ahead to request vegan breakfasts but on arrival the vegan option was 'whatever is not meat on the menu' so it was more defined by the absence of items than actual vegan options. If I stayed there again (wouldn't rule it out as it's a nice place) I would prefer that breakfast was not included in the room price so we could eat elsewhere. However the quality of the food was good.
Staff were brilliant. Huge asset Location was very central in Morpeth.
Limited and expensive car parking Limited choices for breakfast
The staff were great—very helpful. Breakfast was good. Didn’t like the fire escape entrance. You need to keep the main door open later. 9pm is too early.
The fire escape entrance.
Location and quirky
Bedroom and bathroom felt quite cramped. Breakfast was limited too.
Great location Great staff

Nice old building, lovely staff, clean and tidy
Very noisy as it’s right on the road which isn’t their fault but could be helped with secondary glazing.
This is the most fantastic place. Apart from the delicious cocktails, the room was lovely and clean. Abbi was one of the most charming and efficient hostesses I’ve come across. Thoroughly recommended and ignore any bad reviews x
Needed to leave a review after seeing the recent bad ones as my experience here was fantastic. Stayed for a few nights and every member of staff i came across were nothing but lovely and very helpful. During my stay i left my key in room and contacted out of hours and the lady i dealt with was so helpful an absolute gem. All staff are a credit to the place i will definitely be back keep up the good work guys see yous all again soon
Second stay in The Auction House . Small room first time and much larger on recent visit . Does not pretend to be a fully functioning hotel . It is a lovely quirky boarding house . Small rooms are fairly tight spaced but are adequate for a night or 2 . Larger- and inevitably more expensive larger room -spacious and well presented . Clean . Limited breakfast options but excellent cooked breakfast. A young and extremely helpful staff . A fun cocktail bar . Excellent old fashioned . Would stay again.
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and always very helpful if we had any issues. The room was spotless, Lloyd clean spacious, and very comfortable, facilities were maintained to a very high standard. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the breakfast. There was an excellent selection of fresh, high-quality food, catering to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences and endless teas and coffees. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely return in the future. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so memorable! Highly recommended.
The breakfast served by a very pleasant girl was very good.
No one there in the booking in time specified and had to let ourselves into an empty hotel via a fire escape. But didn't know our room. After several attempts ringing the phone numbers in my email someone answered saying they would be there in 10 minutes. Not good enough it was 4.30pm by now. She gave us a code to access room 6, a small poky room with a high slit window for which we had paid £114. Lucky we were only there for 1 night. In the morning I noticed a fire door on our floor propped open with a wedge, photo supplied. The only other guest who we saw had access problems too. We should have received a breakfast form by email, neither of us had. So this could be a good boutique hotel, but the owner needs to get his act together and get staff working properly. I know this is not a one off experience as several other people have said the same things in reviews. I should have read them!
Nothing at all
having to wait for 1 hour in the carpark as the door was locked and wasn't sent details of the room. called out of hours with no response and after 2 hours calling girl answered, said she was at her parents, apologized that the email hadn't been sent. then gave me the room code. next morning asked at breakfast if i had ordered my breakfast, had to explain that nothing was provided. when having breakfast another couple came down with nearly exactly the same experience. i would not go back
I hope the owners of the Auction House read and act on this review. A potentially good hotel is spoilt by the incompetence of the staff. Apart from the lovely lady who served us an excellent breakfast. Pro - the breakfast Although we should have received an emailed form re breakfast. Didn't happen. Cons - No one there when we arrived at 4.15pm, the place was deserted No one answering either phone number, although after the third attempt a disinterested person picked up and said sorry someone will be there in 10 minutes. Fire door wedged open Terrible access via a fire escape out of hours Key pad on said access difficult to work Horrible small room which we paid £114 for with a high level slit window. So bad and could be so good. Would appreciate a response from owners. Interestingly the only other person staying had exactly the same access and breakfast problem so this obviously happens on a regular basis. We had more help accessing the property from a man outside in the street who knew exactly where to direct us to the fire escape. Apparently he lives nearby and this happens all the time.
Hotel is in town center which was ideal and parking although not on site was free and only a 5 minute walk, considering Morpeth parking that's great
Nothing
Room was a little cramped
Friendliness. Attention to detail and fun interior
Great location, friendly staff, quiet room nice breakfast.
Staff were amazing, nothing was a problem. Breakfast was so so good set us up for the day. 🤩 Shower was super powerful which was lovely.
We had a superior double, which I thought was quite small. The blind was broken and when we reported were told it’s been on the list of things to do for a while! (Not the staffs fault) there was a bit grime in the shower area and a bit dusty throughout the room, the duvet cover didn’t quite fit the duvet so was hanging out the bottom! Just a little more attention to detail it would be lovely!
Very nice hotel, Central and close to local amenities. Breakfast was lovely could have maybe been a bit warmer but still lovely. Staff were exceptional nothing was any bother. Shower was good plenty hot water and we also had a bath in our bedroom but the plug doesn't fit correctly and the water drained away before I got out! Plentiful supply of clean towels and toiletries.
I paid for a superior king size room and the bed was definitely not king size which was very disappointing it was definitely just a double size bed. I know they were short staffed and can only do what they can but I think investing in a good cleaner would be key. Our room was cleanish but certainly would benefit from a deep clean. Bathroom was very small again for the price of £189 a night I would expect something a bit larger. Windows were a bit concerning as there was no safety stop on them so I'd be a bit wary if I was staying with young children in the room as they'd be easily opened. They only have 2 parking space which are charged at £15 per night which is quite steep there is accessible parking across the road at a fraction of the price.
Breakfast was cooked to perfection👍 staff are very attentive and welcoming. Willing to help. As we were there for work purposes we did not get a chance to experience a lot.
On the second night stay the other guest were a bit noisy. You can everything and I mean everything !! Soundproofing maybe an option lol 😂
The room it's self was beautiful and the bath is amazing.
It was a bit noisy with the traffic but that was all
Convenient, comfortable, quiet. Good vfm.
Lack of individusl bedside lamps. No WiFi when we were there (but I think they were upgrading it). Limited choice of breakfasts with no continental option.
In a good location. The
The room (4) was very poor. It needs a deep clean. Everything was grubby from the hospitality tray to the whole bathroom. My daughter also stayed, and her room sadly was the same. For the amount we paid it was extremely disappointing. Breakfast was ok but not the standard or choice I would expect for the money we paid for our stay. I did inform a member of staff of our cleanliness concerns.
Everything was good
Nothing
Good location, room fairly clean and comfortable
The noise from staff in the morning was absolutely ridiculous. Incredibly noisy cleaning and banging about well before check out time which spoiled the experience
I arrived at the property at 7pm. The lights were out. The door was locked. The phone number rang out and there was no reply to the bell. I had to find another place at short notice. It was a bit of a nightmare after a very long day.
See above
Bar man (young guy) was welcoming & helpful
I felt the shower area could have been cleaner.
Room was spectacular with a beautiful roll top bath .
All was good but 9am finish for breakfast on weekdays seems a but too early. Missed it by 20 mins
Friendly staff, great location
Room was smaller than expected, only found switches for all lights on or all off. No bedside lamps. Limited breakfast menu choices which had to be ordered the night before. Some items could have been hotter. The bedroom furniture marked.
Good breakfast. Good hot shower.
Small room and very small bathroom.
Excellent location
No water in rooms or available to buy at the bar and floor was mopped at breakfast time causing a dangerous slip hazard and a smell of disinfectant. Why not do it after the breakfast service?
Very nice place to stay. Very affordable and great location and lovely rooms that were a bit quirky
Not much tbh.
Excellent place beautiful room and Area is so nice
