Opero Hotel Southkey Johor Bahru

Everyone at the hotel were full of smiles, very friendly abs made my experience with everyone from the hotel extremely comfortable. The breakfast had a large spread, the food was tasty, the ambience great and the service team very observant and helpful. Beds were comfortable and room was cosy.

The shower area could be slippery because of the layout. With only the rainbath option, the soap and lather falling at the back (because the water cannot reach that area to rinse it) made it very slippery during a bath.

We loved the bathtub in the room!!! The kids had a blast. The staffs were so friendly and the pool was great for the kids. Nothing fancy but it was just for the kids to be kids!

Our room was a little smelly. Unfortunately, was told that hotel was fully booked and we cannot change room. Staff was nice enough to offer air freshener but I expected better room quality from a rated 4* hotel.

The location is near to the mall and CIQ. The staffs at the concierge are very friendly and approachable.

The breakfast spread is good and my fav are their nasi lemak and mee goreng. They’re delicious. However, the service could be better. I feel that there should be a staff bring us to a table. Instead, we have to find on our own and most of the tables are still full of dirty plates. Need to call the staffs to clear the tables. They did but did not provide new utensils. This happened to us for 2 days. On top of that, appreciate if they could keep the buffet area cleaned too..

It was deplorable. Previous guest left hair band behind with strands of hair. When informed hotel staff, they did nothing. Seems that they don’t understand cleanliness

I like the Roti Canai with curry, omelette & cereal. But overall, I really like everything available for breakfast at the cafe.

I ordered the smash burger and a platter of sides for in room dining but it was not good, food was not hot or warm and the burger patty felt raw on the inside. Might not recommend getting it.

The service provided is excellent. Staff is courteous and welcoming.

The staff is friendly and helpful including the security. The room was clean.

Location was although near to mid valley, can see from eye but no access road there so need to take grab which is about 5 mins away and they do provide free shuttle but its every hour til night 10pm return to hotel and need to pre-book prior.

Breakfast was awesome & the managers on duty during breakfast during our stay from 8-10 August 2026 were friendly & went to the extra mile to each table to ask how’s the breakfast. Would definitely come back!

The aircon was not cold during breakfast and the manager got us the big fan since he saw I took out my Jisu fan.

Security could have been enhanced. Access cards are only required for entry to rooms, lifts do not require card access. On my 2nd day of stay, housekeeping didn't close my room door properly and it was ajar. I returned to the room shocked and luckily, nothing was lost.

Shower no Dr so flood had to use bath towel to stop overflow From the front the hotel looks three star old fashion white curtains some open some not some half first impression counts . Thanks

Cleanliness. Location. Staff are friendly and nice. Rooms are clean and even the kettle used to boil water is clean too. This trip is with my spouse and we enjoyed the 1 night stay a lot.

I checked in around 4pm which happens to also have a lot of people checking in at that time. I took like around 20 minutes to check in but staff are friendly and patient.

The breakfast exceeded my expectations as it was more like a 5-star hotel in terms of overall standard than a 4-star hotel. I loved their choice of butter used (Anchor unsalted butter) rather than the cheap cultured butter with a weird lactic acid taste that is used in other hotels

There should be a separate hand-held shower head because the top-mounted shower head is not necessary for every wash case especially washing of feet only. We cannot be using the water hose beside the toilet bowl to do so as its unsightly and inconvenient

Clean! Luxurious, location is not with traffic jam and is 5 mins walk to mid valley Southkey mall. It’s my favourite destination hotel to stay. Their service is excellent! I had a great time at the pool bar, lounge bar and breakfast as always.

The staff were polite and attentive. They were able to meet our requests within 5-10 minutes and wherever possible. They had a great breakfast and the food was delicious. It was nearby to Mid Valley and had shuttle services hourly.

The doors were pretty hard to close and some of the locks were not tightly fixed (we had 3 rooms in total).

Breakfast was good. The staff were thoughtful to bring down the blinds when the sun started to shine into the dining hall. There was a staff walking around making balloon animals and flowers for the young and the young at heart. Was also surprised that the bar, situated next to the breakfast restaurant, had papers and colouring materials for kids to doodle at the tables in the morning.

I have no complaints about the hotel or the staff. BUT the check in was very dissatisfactory. I was told that the hotel was fully booked because of the long holiday and this had resulted in a chain effect in delayed check in. Really disappointed to hear this after waiting for 2 hours to get our rooms after registration around 3.30pm By the time we got to our rooms, it was already 5.40pm!

Service is good, they do try to improve the guest experience by small touches which we greatly appreciate such as providing color pencils and paper for coloring at lobby area, having balloon sculptor at breakfast. Location is near the Mall and everything else that has good food. I must greatly compliment the BED and PILLOWS. Easily one of the most comfortable ones I've slept on comparable with 5* hotels standard

Our hotel room toilet door cannot close. Also UnderSink mount beneath the marble top has holes, mould and a cockroach emerged from it. We also expected room service but it didn't tidy up our room. although the second room we booked was tidied, they didn't replenish new floor towels and insufficient face towels.

Been there few times .. I think it’s time to jazz up the breakfast spread. And few staffs were having their breakfast too, don’t think it look professional. One of them pick the food using bare hands a piece of pastry and gobble it down.

Room was smaller than other hotels in JB. But because it's smaller, it's also cozier.

The complimentary hourly shuttle service to Mid Valley Southkey, available upon request, was a very convenient and appreciated perk. The parking area also well lit and the outlook of the hotel looked great.

Certain parts of the room could have been better maintained. For example, the TV remote was missing its back cover, the toilet blinds tended to get stuck, and the room door lock was loose. There was also some mold visible in the bathroom grout. In addition, the TV had very limited channel options and was not a smart TV, which slightly affected the overall experience.

well kept hotel. Showing signs of wear & tear. Do see how the rooms can continue to keep the standards even with small touch ups. It does make a lot of difference.

Not much to highlight, only request is to check that fixtures, furniture, beddings in the room are in good. clean and working condition.

It happened to me that somebody checked in to the same room as me! Something that shouldn't be! Luckily, it was solved immediately. but it can cause me trauma since you dont know when the same thing can happened again

The breakfast at Opero had a wide variety of cuisines from malay to india dishes. We stayed there for two days and they had a few rotational menu. I really enjoyed the fried chicken that came with the nasi lemak and the pancakes. The hotel was really calming, with staffs being very friendly. Location is within walking distance to Midvalley Southkey Mall. There are nearby shops like kedai mamak. We tried their ala carte menu for dinner and the food was really pleasing. They provided us with a welcome cake for my dad's birthday, which we really appreciated. One of go to hotels from now on when we visit JB.

One of the twin rooms had a stench in the bathroom, was not sure if it was coming from the WC or gutter and the AC was quite hot. Regardless, I would recommend this hotel to other people to stay here. I really enjoyed my time here.

Food is best

shuttles key service . Since so close to should run more of get large ubers when full . it’s your best selling point . after 2 days we moved to hotel in midvlley sc . missed your food but happy with location as your shuttle bus was always full. i suggest if it’s burden to run more can charge two m get per ride .

Opero has always been our preferred place to stay whenever we visit JB. We especially enjoy the breakfast, and the staff are well trained and the Hotel/Operation Manager has done an excellent job maintaining high standards.

It says it was close to the mall but you have to cross a busy road to get there.

our first time staying and really love everything about it. Anastasia (hope I got her name right) at the front office helped settle us in, a total breeze. Buffet breakfast was sumptuous, spread was wide, not huge which was great, just right. Chef who cooked us the omelette was excellent! one of the best I've tasted! Bravo! and mercí.

At breakfast, it would be good if guests get to be seated (if that's possible although we can see staffing is a challenge) as opposed to finding their own way and very important for many people, is clean tables :) We hope you continue to keep doing the simple things well. No need to be fancy or elaborate.
