Charming original historic house! Loved the verandah & quaint bedroom. Delightful! Great breakfast & friendly staff.
We loved it all!
Stunning historic house beautiful location and fabulous hosts
Very cool old heritage building, lovely friendly staff, good facilities for cyclists for bike storage and charging. Perfect location in the heart of Clyde.
Location and owner Meredith
A bit noisy next to a kitchen with fridges going. A plug by the mirror would be good getting ready
This is a genuine 1880 quality hotel with quality furnishings. It was like time travel in style. Superb!
We should have stayed longer and stayed in 'the suite' for a little more.
The architecture was sublime so beautiful, and the availability of everything else was perfect.
A lovely old, charming, classic hotel. Hosts are super friendly. We were able to park the car around the back. We enjoyed a lovely glass of wine on the veranda looking over Clyde's main road. The breakfast was lovely and overall we felt really comfortable during our stay. We would definitely stay again and longer!
Great location
Nothing
Location was good, but to get an evening meal prior to arrival it was difficult.
Compared to Nov 2022, it was disappointing. No cooked breakfast or cafe. The rooms were tired .
Beautiful accommodation with large room, super comfortable bed and lovely facilities. Breakfast was very tasty and well presented. In a central position in Clyde to all restaurants and shops
Nothing
The owner was very welcoming and showed me around. The room and bathroom was very clean. A lovely breakfast the next day.
Très bien situé. L'impression de vivre a une autre époque, maison du 19iem siècle. Propriétaire très gentil.
Un peu bruyant dù a l'âge de l'hôtel et de certain touristes non respectueux.
The instant we entered Dunstan House we were given a warm and cheerful welcome from Meredith - and eventually Ian, her husband, who was out on an emergency call - even though we had arrived many hours too early. Our stay in the historic property exceeded expectations. A most hospitable ambience pervades the whole building with lovely wooden textures everywhere. Our room was very comfortable with a pleasing outlook and lots of natural light, and although we had a shared bathroom this did not present a problem at any point in our stay. Breakfast was very tasty and I would thoroughly recommend the superb salads, savouries and sweetmeats that they serve in the café throughout the day. Dunstan House is bang in the centre of Clyde with a bar and two restaurants mere paces from the front door, and I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else in town.
Absolutely no negatives.
A beautiful historic lodge. The owners were super friendly and helpful and you felt that nothing would have been a problem for them. Good recommendations for dining and other experiences. We enjoyed the breakfast in the dining room with special touches of beautiful fine china being used for tea.
Loved the ambience and attention to detail that was in line with the age of the building
Our bedroom was small as expected. Limited room if you had lots of luggsge
Comfortable, although in need of some talc
Lovely historical vibe in beautiful old sandstone boutique hotel. Cleanliness and amazing cafe. Close to bike trails.
Nothing
Breakfast was a basic continental and nice, a cooked option would have been nice as the cafe was open.
A bit of a shame to not have a dine in meal and drink option. A real shame the Historic Hotel has lost the social space for drinks.
Historic, centrally located, great staff and breakfast
Not a thing
Great setup, lovely host, beds so comfy after biking
all good
Unique Small town feeling Great breakfast included
Very nice owners! Unique ambiance and historic.
The breakfast was fine - cereals and toast and really good coffee served in the lovely cafe.
I didn't like the room we were put in "out the back" - it felt like you were staying in your parent's sleepout and had to walk past the laundry area to get to it. There was no air conditioning and no vent in the bathroom. It was like a very average motel room which just doesn't fit very well with the lovely main house which is delightful.
Great location, friendly, lovely owners, comfortable rooms
I loved the history, the friendly welcome with thorough instructions, the tea & coffee station, decor and charm. Breakfast was good. Having a barista coffee included makes all the difference. I have been a housemaid in hotels etc and everything was spotlessly clean even by my impossible standards. Loved all the historic touches and interest pieces.
The Ruby room is small. Its not too small but it does lack storage. I would move the coat hooks to behind the door and put a narrow shelf or two on the wall where the hooks are. Just somewhere to stash a few things instead of on the floor - like the clean towels. A luggage rack would also be handy - I did see one stashed behind the bathroom door. I suggest that goes into the Ruby room. Bed was comfy but I would replace it within a year as starting to get soft. These are all tiny tweaks though to make things even better. I slept soundly though and loved my stay.
A hotel with great historical character. Charming. Balcony and breakfast were good.
Historische locatie & Hotel met een ‘ziel’ in leuk klein dorp. Restaurant Olivers recht tegenover het Hotel is top.
Authentic setting. Very nice host.
Breakfast was a bit simple.
Phenomenal history, gorgeous building, great location, parking & wifi, all good. Nice to have some toast and cereal for breakfast .
The bed in the Ruby room was a very small double and super soft. Hard to sleep for two full sized adults.
Beautiful quirky B&B, lovely friendly & informative owner and staff. The location is superb and easy off road parking. The history of the development of the building to what it is today is interesting along with the “Legends”😉
A blind over the fully glazed door to the Wong studio would be useful as we are not naturally early risers, so improvised with a towel over it.
Friendly and welcoming and a great location
Beautiful well-kept heritage building. Comfortable beds, tasty breakfast and helpful staff.
We were greeted with very friendly staff who showed us around and made us feel at home. The room was spotless and the whole place has a really great, classic vibe.
Continental breakfast was great. Lovely to have a barista coffee as an option.
Beautiful historic building, gives abit of a haunted vibe. Owners are lovely and super accommodating especially given how late we arrived, also Ian makes a great coffee.
The owners are amazing kind and so helpful. Walking up the beautiful staircase thinking of all the mine owners of the Victorian time was fun. Perfect for all the cycle routes or a stopover between Queenstown and Dunedin. Great coffee and healthy and unhealthy lunch options.
The owner was very helpful. Carrying our luggagvert happy cheerful person. Would have liked more days in the quiet lovely town
The let us wash our clothes and hang them on the line to dry. And Ian let us park our trikes underneath the overhang in case it rained.
Lovely old building and well decorated. Friendly staff. Handy to start rail trail.
All good. Just hard to sleep in double after cal king bed …. Me problem.
Great Host
I could not recommend Dunstan House more. Beautiful decor, wonderful wonderful staff, great food and just a lovely peaceful haven. Thanks so much for having me.
Lovely staff, cosy and quaint
It’s a feel good staying at a part of history
Dunstan House was everything that we hoped it would be. Authentic, informal and real. Great breakfasts. Ian and Meridith were lovely hosts and Clyde is a wonderful base for exploring Central Otago.
Nothing! See above.
The house was kept cozy and warm. We arrived a little later than expected but received a really friendly greeting and tour of the place. The heater was on in our room in anticipation of our arrival, and the room was clean and tidy. Plenty of dinner options for a smaller town and Olivers was a great find.
Breakfast fabulous. Services /facilities perfect
Room was changed to allow for two single beds - as opposed to double. Good service - but a little cramped and nowhere to put things. It would have been fabulous for my late wife and I to stay -but I was traveling with a friend - not a partner. I did appreciate to service
Good hotel and great location
shower / tv issues
Top location . Friendly helpful staff. Gluten free options. Historic building tastefully restored
Nothing
The best location right on the main st. Staff were super friendly and made a superb coffee
Nothing
Such a warm welcome from the owner! The house has bags of character and is a wonderful piece of history- unique to stay in a 19th century house! Cosy, warm rooms and comfy beds. Delicious continental breakfast in the cafe and top coffees included, NZ cafe standard. Powerful, hot shower in immaculately clean bathroom. Clyde itself is charming, quiet, quaint and friendly. Free parking provided off road, behind the hotel.
Shared bathroom- not a problem to us, might be for some, but vv clean and spacious.Robes provided. V small bedroom- not much bigger than bed - not problem for us- only there for one night and nice lounge to use
