The breakfast was nice. My bedroom was on the top floor which was a problem as I'm an angina sufferer
Bedroom on bottom floor
Location was amazing The hotel team very helpful, and welcoming Great breakfast
No full length mirror in wardrobe or room No toiletries available, dispensers were empty
Room was poor - no ensuite facilities - had to go down a corridor for both toilet and shower - and shower very hard to get and hold correct tempreature. Breakfast was pretty good. Location was good.
Room - needs to be ensuite. Not advised in any correspondance that it wasent. Up two flights of stairs - no lift - a little awkward.
Location and view
Was dated and tired
Das Frühstück war sehr gut.
Stockdusche
we arrived the man was very lively walked up two sets of stairs which were very steep and floor board were moving ! we arrived in our room wow the bathroom smelt of musty smell there were cobwebs all over the walls thick black dust and d iron the fan which i have photos the bathroom bath was clean but all around the bath was filthy dirt i also have photos my daughter wouldn't go to sleep because of the cobwebs the bunk bed wasn't even on carpet its was dirty dusty never stay again ! the breakfast was as ok only ate the beans and toast as the mushrooms felt like you had a mouthful of oil in your mouth very oily and fried tasteless for £170 i thought it was daylight robbery
well most thing dirt cobwebs they may need to higher a proper cleaner it smelt musty and the bedding didn't smell clean was very disappointed even the bathroom floor felt like it hadn't had a clean considering it states on the bedroom door that a future queen of somewhere stayed there i'd be embarrassed
It was clean . It was in lovely location.
Dated and tired . Uncomfortable bed and pillows . Unfriendly staff and no welcome . Poor quality breakfast.
Breakfast was good. Choice of cereals plus full English breakfast. Fruit juice
View from my room poor overlooking back roofs but hotel front rooms were fully booked. Ok for one night pillows on bed were very hard
it is a good location, very friendly members of staff, my room has a lovely seaview
the windows need to be replaced, it will improve the look of the rooms
stayed before and will stay again. sitting in the bay window for breakfast with the friendly seagull outside was great
sticky tables - not dirty just the surface is forever sticky. staff tried very hard to sort out but the tables need a sand down with a new finish
The only good thing was the bed
Found it dirty very dark didn’t attempt to use the shower it was so dirty and grubby didn’t even try the breakfast didn’t like to chance it definitely wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone
The location was ideal and right on the sea front, it was ideal as an overnight stop, the breakfast was lovely and filling with different options for vegetarians and vegans
Rooms were hot and stuffy even with the fans on and window open, some of the lights weren’t working in places, the magnetic fire door openers didn’t seem to work
Great location
Our room was clean but very basic. Hotel felt run down and dated. No sink in toilet. Thin walls and no double glazing so very noisy. Stale smell
Great location
Rooms were a bit run down and the shower didn't work properly.
Staff were very friendly and helpful chef cooked up a wonderful breakfast cleaners done a good job of keeping the rooms tidy and clean. Would’ve been nice to see the manager engage more with the customers Andy was very helpful a gentleman that works there the two young boys could do with a bit of a boot up the backside bit more of a hindrance than a help but pleasant enough looking forward to our next visit iMessage the hotel to explain it was my husband’s 50th birthday they put banners and balloons up which was very appreciate
The manager not being about an engaging with the customers I actually thought it was somebody staying in the hotel
Its location
The bathroom was dirty, there were no staff about to help with any problems, I couldn’t get the hot water to work so that I could have a shower - to name my top worst ones.
Comfortable bed and a very good breakfast.
N/A.
No light in shower room broken shower door blocked shower drain
The staff were amazing! Did everything they could to make the stay as convenient and as best as possible - especially the young guy. We didn't manage to get his name, but he was so accommodating and lovely! The location and view in our room was incredible - breakfast perfect too. What a lovely stay we will be back.
nothing
Emplacement parfait. Un hôtel sans prétention mais agréable.
Staff very friendly, room 9 was clean, the bedsheets towels clean. Full English breakfast was well cooked and good value for money.
The communal shower did not drain well, a noisy neighbour in the morning on the phone and late evening. Place needs a make over especially outside kerb appeal. Looks run down. Needs proper management. Wake up management the place is a goold mine, especially in terms of location. just needs more input and a bit of investment. Got the feeling onsite staff are a bit under valued and it's them keeping the place ticking over.
Great location. We were lucky had an amazing sea view. Breakfast was really tasty. Staff were friendly.
The room needed some tlc. Holes in the carpet, wallpaper coming off wall. It would not cost a lot to make these improvements. When it said shared bathroom. Didn’t realise it was for 5 rooms. Thankful for sink in room
breakfast was okay and location was good
very dated for the price room was in shocking condition for the price breakfast was okay but advertised time was incorrect avoid at all costs you will regret it. bed was as stiff as a rock honistly just awful for the price.
Alles SAUUU SCHLECHT!!!!!!!! GROßE SCHEIßE. NICHT ZUMUTBAR!!!!!
Alles scheiße!!
Lage
the location was great
the bathroom
This hotel has a fantastic location ! The rooms are dated but clean, comfy beds with crisp white sheets. A fantastic fan which we really needed in this hot weather. It was a shared bathroom / toilet room but it was kept immaculate. The staff are so genuinely lovely who run the hotel , the chef cooked us an amazing breakfast. Coffee, tea, cereals , fruit available ! The cleaners were very polite met by two on our way back to room this morning who both said ‘ good morning ‘ we would not hesitate to stay here again. We are definitely returning guests. We were in room 9.! Had a very comfortable night. Thank you so much. We think this hotel could bring in more money if it was re-decorated. It’s a little gem. Yes it’s old but still holds its character. Great value for money
I decided to rebook after hearing the hotel had made some efforts to improve the experience. I was surprised and relieved that my room was very clean and felt comfortable. I was checked in by a local gentleman who was very friendly and made me feel welcome.
No soap in the room.
Staff were very nice polite breakfast was ok
The bathroom need updated
Staff. Great room with sea views (Room 15). Proximity to town, restaurants, pubs, castle, etc Price. Breakfasts.
Hotel undergoing a makeover. No problem for us but it is still a work in progress so some rooms may still be in need of same. All the flowers shown in the photos out front have disappeared.
Not alot only good thing was they let us keep our luggage there after checkout plus it's across the road from the pier and the stone beach
Would only accept cash knowing it said i could pay by card no staff when needed (no staff to be seen) fire alarm kept going off all hours Wifi kept cutting off TV kept losing single sleeping on the bed felt like sleeping on rocks Breakfast was too greasy no continental breakfast as advertised in the menu and that was the same on my last visit and stay at this hotel Got a bar but never opened got a restaurant but never opened (lack of staff most probably) Staris are too steep leading up to the rooms shower screen fell apart If I could I would ask for a Refund as it wasn't worth the stay and the money hopefully the waterfront hotel will look to improve in the near future Keep getting told the hotel is being done up but was told the same thing last year
Central and very comfortable
Stairs were steep
Good location for the town Friendly and helpful staff
No ground floor rooms for people with limited mobility It’s a pity there was no evening meals or bar available at nighttime
Location, welcome and breakfast.
Paying cash only was a surprise..... No soap in the bath/shower. Place needs a refurbishment.
Right by the pier. Comfy bed with a good quality fan to keep cool during the heatwave. would stay again.
The view and the location.
It was dirty. Shower did not work. Breakfast was poor. Portions half the size of those shown in photo. Most of the staff were rude.
Room needs a good clean. Shower thermostat not working resulting in either cold or scalding water. Dead spider in room. Poor breakfast. Photo on menu shows 2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 sausage but you only get 1 of each. Half a slice of toast! Menu says help yourself to yoghurt and fresh fruit but there wasnt any.
Excellent location. Comfortable bed. Powerful fan was appreciated due to the heat wave, Value for money.
The hotel is very dated, under renovation apparently. Given the location and price we are not complaining. Difficult parking on a saturday evening.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Room with sea view very pleasant
Sea view good
No water in room
Cheaper than competition, kitchen, now looks pretty clean
Bad communication: only automated messages. The owner neglected to send me the door pin number, I had to wait till another guest let me in. Wifi didn't work. No separate bins for paper and plastic in the ckitchen, I had to take my waste with me to be green. Finally, no fan, though it's 30 degrees.
Nothing
When I arrived at the hotel room was dirty and smelly i refused to live there i said to refund my money they said we informed the booking. Com they will refund the money i paid £171.50 and they refund £19.50 they made joke with me, I just suggest don't book this hotel totally worth less and also don't trust booking. com
Location, was up graded as didn't realise i had booked a room with out facilities
Faulty fan, room was hot
Location is fantastic, staff were outstanding and so will to help
Some parts are a bit tired
Clean, perfect for an evenings stay in town for a weekend
Nothing
The location
No bathroom, this wasn’t clear when we booked and we didn’t feel overly safe using the toilet of a night when there were groups of men staying on the same floor as 3 women on our own
Clean tidy and very cheap
Sharing Facilities
The food and staff
Everything else. Disgusting, dirty and unkempt
Our room can only be described as hostel vibes Dirty carpet with holes wooden bunk beds from 1980 Shower that dribbles Luke warm water No hot tap working Mis match furniture Dead spider in window just ambience ! Staff are lovely but seemed embarrassed about the overall standard I would advised do not stay here We would have left but deal was fully booked
What an absolutely disgusting room. The owner obviously has no regard for quality or cleanliness of what could be a lovely hotel. We stayed in room 6!!! Water stains on walls, stains & holes in carpet, dust, dirt dead spider and used face wipes left. Bathroom shocking, stained and broken hot tap. The breakfast was amazing and staff attentive and friendly. Such a shame the owners do not respect the property and the people that pay to stay. Never again
My 2 friends had already just shared their reviews, but potential guests really do need to be aware of what a dive they are planning on visiting, and if they have time they should look for alternative accommodation. We arrived early evening for a friends birthday and were greeted with a very kind and helpful chef. There was no management on site at all throughout or stay. We were shown to our room and quite frankly stood in disbelief as what we were fronted with. We asked if there were other rooms available and were told that there was not. We went along to other hotels to see if they had availability, but there were no rooms free elsewhere. We had travelled to Deal for our frien's 60th birthday, so had no other choice than to stay. The price of this room was £150!!!! It was a double bed and a bunkbed. The room was absolutely disgusting, it was filthy, with ripped carpet, sockets hanging off of walls, water marks down every wall following a burst water tank, some time ago. Dust everywhere, used wipes on the bathroom floor, a hot tap that spun around when you tried to use it, and mould in the shower. The list was endless. Also, no management stay at the property at night and we could not understand how this could legally be the case. We had not idea of what we would have had to do in the event of a fire. We were lucky that there were 3 of us staying together, as had I been a solo traveller, I would have gone back to the car and driven home, over an hour away. I will personally be contacting Environmental Health tomorrow as someone has to take responsibility and accountability for this disgusting 'hotel' - Honestly, I think Hostel would be a better description. We booked through Booking.Com, and have made a full complaint to them also. We are awaiting a response as we understand they have to contact management in the first instance. Oh and also we were told, not asked, to pay for the room in CASH and ON ARRIVAL. Leads me personally to belive there are reasons behind this. I can't stress enough that Room 6, where we stayed should be permanently closed and not used for guests. It is an absolute joke. Apparently some of the rooms in the Hostel have been updated, but seriously look for accommodation elsewhere.
Breakfast was decent
Took 20 minutes for a staff member to arrive and let us into the hotel. Water pressure in shower was so awful, really really bad. It was like having a wash under a dribble of water.
Good location.
Nothing
Excellent location and the sea view out of the big georgian window was amazing.
The shower was only a trickle no matter hot or cold and it’s on a mixer tap - i think they needed a new shower head - so I had to have a bath. There was no shower gel or anyrhing to wash with. Even the toilet just had sanitiser. With those few adjustments it would have been perfect
The location was good
Black towels shared bathroom , no side lamps, very run down,, wasn't very clean .
The location is great right on the seafront with views of the pier. It's pretty cheap and of you get an ensuite room it's very comfortable. WiFi was good.
It's under new management and not staffed 100% of the time. Hopefully it will be more professionally managed in future.
Friendly staff
Needs a lick of paint and serious modernisation if they want to charge those prices .
The location is fantastic right opposite the pier! Clean rooms quite oldie worldie but I like that has character! Staff very helpful and friendly
Location, Staff Steve Patrick and John.
Accommodation , lack of air conditioning room hot and stuffy. Steve the chef gave us a fan helped a little. House keeping average, shower terrible minimal pressure difficult to maintain temperature. Toilet ran constantly. Flower boxes outside window full of dead weeds, windows dirty.Last flight of stairs dangerous to negotiate.
The room was big and had a great view. The breakfast was delicious.
There was mould on the ceiling and walls, parts of the carpet was ripped up, the sink & toilet flush were broken, and there was dirt and grime in the bathroom. Genuinely a deep clean, lick of paint, regrouting, a new bathroom suite and new towels & bath mat and it would be perfect 👌
Breakfast was ok
Room was small, hot and not well cleaned. There was half drunk bottled water in the room when we arrived which wasn't changed. We left a day early.
Comfortable room and a good breakfast.
Location
Dirty, smelly. Stank like it had been smoked in. All the corridors smelt like it as well as the room. The wallpaper was peeling off, there was something growing from the ceiling. The bathroom was old and tired and very dirty, the corners of the floor were dusty and had other peoples hair in them. It was hot but the windows didn’t open and no air con. I was phoned several times in the days leading up to our stay asking what time we would arrive and then on the day when we were a bit later than excited I got another call asking what time we’d get there. When we arrived we were asked to pay cash (obviously not going through the books then) and then the reception was closed. The fire alarm was in “fault” mode the entirety of our stay.
Hotel perfect location great staff good food
Décor a bit tired could do with a spruce up
The hanging baskets at the front of the hotel were nice
Everything; facilities, decor, cleanliness of carpets, check-in (left standing in the cold as the front door was locked and no one on reception), having to shower one-handed as the fixture didn’t work, hairdryer fixture broken, windows wouldn’t stay open,
Overall very pleasant and in a nice little town.
Bathroom was rather cramped, little space.
The location was perfect chef was nice. Clean beds
The lady on reception - she was very rude and abrupt. We think she was sleeping and we woke her up to check in. She followed us the stairs and came to our room and asked 'is that your stuff? 'Is that your room?' It was very bizarre as she knew it was our room as she checked us into that room. It took 30/35 minutes to check in. No remotes for tv The window frame was not attached to wall when opened. Taps were bad not working well. Bar not open. Sharing a toilet and shower
Every room has signs about WiFi but was turned off. No remote for telly. No service on telly. Shared toilet creepy looking shower. No staff for breakfast.
Close by
Dirty , shower was rubbish , out dated , cold room , shit pillow shit blanket no WiFi
Ligging, sfeer
We liked its location.
It needs a lot of TLC and a full revamp. Reception staff on arrival in evening only showed up after some time. Not friendly.
The chef Steve was very nice and helpful whilst I stayed. I had kippers cooked in butter for breakfast and they were excellent. My room was very large and comfortable.
The wi fi didn't work on the third floor where my room was located but it wasn't really an issue.
The location. The people. The food.
Honestly there was nothing I didn’t like.
The sea view
There wasn't a basin in the toilet to wash after use. The staff didnt understand what an ironing board was and offered a towel. The room smelt damp and musky. The curtains were covered in dead bugs. The sink in the room leaked. Kettle didnt work and the TV had no signal Staff not helpful
Vue on thé sea no noise the night
Bed not confortable little shower and bathroom nobody at the desk when we arrive no breakfast restaurant closed
I liked the location being central in the town by sea front
Customer service was poor!! Rude and not very friendly, gave us our key and then disappeared so had to walk around the building until we found the room. Shower and toilet was hairy and unclean. Floor wasn't hoovered, hair and dirt on the floor. Shower head fell on my head while I showered. Curtains were very thin so light comes through and woke us up very early. Paid £140 with our own shower and was not worth the money at all. Do not waste your money on this hotel! Look elsewhere and pay the extra somewhere else.
Great location and view of the sea. Staff were attentive.
Needs better shower facilities and someone based on the front desk 24/7.
Looked lovely on the website very disappointing on arrival.
The room very dirty dated . Staff unhelpful.
Found this hotel through booking com. Pictures looked lovely!!,but on our arrival it was nothing like it. We was met by a unhelpful staff, spoke hardly any English. We was given room 16,OMG!!! The room was disgusting dirty,I went to use the toilet, only to find when I lifted the pan to find poo skid marks down the pan!! The sink was dirty, all mirrors had hand marks all over them. The bed sheets stunk and wasn't clean, had to what looked like black spots of dirt all over them. We then turned around and got our money back after 20 mins of arguing with the staff. It spoilt our weekend, would never go back!!! Deal is a nice place itself, but please avoid this hotel and I'm very surprised it hasn't been shut down by now!!
The breakfast was good and the location near the seaside was perfect for a morning sunrise walk. Deal castle is also within walking distance. There are plenty of dining options near the hotel.
The reception isn't manned. I had to call a phone number to get help. There is no room heating, and I had to call three times to get portable room heaters. The windows are single glazed and the room gets very chilly. In the shared bathroom, hot water kicked in after a long time (and a call to the reception). There is a wash basin in the room, which again had no hot water. The hotel is from 1720 (according to their wallpaper), and hence all the hot water and heating issues. There was no tv remote in the room, given the number of times we had to call the reception, we gave up.
Sea view
Shower - very poor Room - smaller than expected Decor- run down poorly maintained Staff - unhelpful limited availability of staff Very strange being asked for cash only as ‘machine’ broken and no receipt given
Locality and breakfast
No radiators in room only plug in heater and shower not properly fixed to the wall and irregular temperature
Allocated parking , really clean, friendly staff
Friendly staff who called me to advise I could book in early.
I have stayed at this hotel before but it has deteriorated a lot. On arrival I was not exactly welcomed and left virtually in the dark. My room was pleasant with sea view but there was no hot water( a gas problem) the shower only operated on dangerously hot, the hair dryer did not work and it was cold. Having put heaters on it warmed up fine. It needed a deep clean .The corridor light blew each time I turned it on so a torch light was needed to open my door. On the positive the breakfast was good and well cooked. This hotel has great potential but needs investment and loving care both of which are lacking at present .
The breakfast saved this visit - lovely bacon and eggs. everything else a bit of a nightmare.
I was desperate for the loo on arrival and had to hunt around to find someone to check me in, when I finnally found someone - they barely spoke to me - or told me how to find the room. when I found the room - I had to share a bathroom which I found in the hall - I couldn't find the light switch - so had to go in the dark - eventually found a tiny cord light pull - where the cord should have been - bathroom had no sink and a broken shower - the sink in my room had no hot water. so I left without a wash! Room was freezing cold - put on small heater, room was dusty - windows were mouldy and you could open fully - so not safe - easy to jump out from the tiop of the building! Generally the whole stay was unpleasant - but the breakfast was so go good, I was still very glad to leave. such a shame as a lovely spot - but the whole place needs some love
Location Staff very helpful.
Toilet door hard to open/close. Damp on hallway wall Bannister wobbly. Electric socket situation did not look safe. Looks very rundown. Not sure if about to do some work on the property but needs a lot of attention.
Room was dingy and uninviting. The shower did not work. No breakfast available although should have been included. Staff abrupt and uninterested. Had to ask for a refund for the breakfast (still not sure if it has been refunded).
The receptionist was friendly and the waterfront / the pier right outside - those are the only good things.
The overall facilities are very poor. The sheets had stains that clearly couldn't come out from washing (they did smell like washed though), the carpet had stains, the walls (you can see some old leakage stains), there were fittings that were falling apart, falling apart sockets, in the bathroom sink there was no hot water. We were lucky to have a private bathroom. There was one little electric fan heater, which had to keep on, as our stay was in the winter.
The showers are comunal on each floor, and are tiny and very old and basic. The worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The bedroom is terrible. The staff were nice.
Nothing
I dont understand some of the reviews at best this is a bang average hotel. If your room is at the back of the hotel the road is busy and noisy. If its windy the windows bang. We had an accessible room with a huge bathroom which was freezing and had a shower with a broken regulator. The breakfast was poor with the no one replenishing the buffet. Some lovely staff and some not. Like many hotels of this vintage it needs a lot of work to really bring it up to scratch.
Breakfast very good, Room no shower or toilet and the share shower was a accident waiting to happen. the mixer tap was not fit for purpose, after running for 5-8 mins the hot water was boiling add cold water it went freezing not good for seventy one year olds, excellent location.
mixer tap and no curtains to draw
Preis für die Unterkunft viel zu hoch! Eine Toilette/Dusche auf dem Flur für eine ganze Etage…Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig.
The location was perfect, close to the sea, convenient for the high street shops, close to good restaurants, but quiet enough in the evening to get some good sleep. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Breakfast
Stairs
At least bed was clean
Appalling state, not one corner without grime and cracking paint, peeling wallpaper, mould, sticky tables, cracked glass, stained curtains, just really shocked
Breakfast was good but the service was slow and drawn out, toast not served with breakfast, came after id finished eating. The waitress was good hearted and pleasant but obviously poorly trained.
We arrived after 4 pm, told by male receptionist that we had not paid and he requested full payment. We showed him evidence of payment Mastercard Statement on line. He gave me the key, found the room dirty, bed not made, it had not been cleaned from the last resident. Complained to the male receptionist, who then attempted to remake the bed with the soiled sheets and pillow cases. We complained. We had now wasted 40 minutes to this point. We left our cases in the room to attend an urgent appointment. We returned two hours later, to find the room rudimentary cleaned to a poor standard. No toilet paper in the WC, waste bin overflowing with ladies used hygiene products evident. shower room dirty, shower soap and shampoo dispensers empty. Since our last stay there two years ago the standards have plummeted!
Sea view
Receptionist took 10 minutes to open front door when i arrived, at 9pm looked as though she was in a nighty. Kettle in room ok but no cup/mug, tea, spoon. Stairs and shelves up to room grubby. Some of breakfast overcooked. Having stayed here before, the standard has deteriorated!
