It had everything you could possibly need right down to toothpicks, mosquito repellent, scented candles and a dishwasher and airfyryer.The bed and pillows were so comfortable and towels were clean and fresh A hidden gem for sure. It was quiet and peaceful. Very close proximity to Wild Coast Casino. We had a fabulous time.

Reviewed Jan 2, 2026Friendly welcome from Gary and secure parking on site. Lovely views across the Umtamvuna river and the tropical vegetation was lush and contained a variety of birdlife. Large comfortable bedroom en suite with kitchenette and lounge area. Large rain shower with good pressure and strong hot water supply.
The main road was potholed and the service road rough and very bumpy. The local municipality are obviously struggling to do effective maintenance and even the water supply was not safe for drinking. The internet supply [throughout Port Edward] was intermittent at best!

Host was confused and as a result, we waited around 30 min in the blistering heat on my birthday for the double booking drama to be resolved. As a result of being double booked, we received a different cabana from what we paid for. It wasn’t clean - a discarded toothbrush from a previous guest was even left behind. The bathroom has moss and grime. Bedding has a fowl smell and hasn’t been changed between guests. There is absolutely NO sea view, as stated on the website. Cleanliness was really not up to par. A rather disappointing stay which really isn’t worth the price!

As we drove into the gate the owner shouted at us, mistakenly thinking we were someone else. Wifi is very bad (actually non existent) considering I had work to do. Please check thoroughly if your room has an aircon. The mosquitoes were bad as the river is nearby. Water from the tap is brownish. Took 30 minutes to get enough water in the bath to bath.

The entertainment facilities were not working. The pool table was broken and the there were no darts for the dart board. The road to get to the location is very long and bumpy especially if you don't have an SUV. It's not a simple in and out.

The cabanas offered a serene and peaceful atmosphere surrounded by breathtaking views of the Umtamvuna River. The cabana was super cozy and comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Louis, the host, and his wife were very welcoming. We will definitely return soon. Luna was cool as well ! 😁

Reviewed Jan 7, 2025The owner, Louis, is a wonderful chap, the room was large, and comfortably furnished. Also there's airconditioning! Outside area also wonderfully furnished with a big table and couches. The outside area, with pool and sloped gardens facing lush greenery and mountains was also beautiful.
The drive towards the lodge was more challenging than expected. Lots of dirt road in less than ideal conditions, which has you second guessing wanting to come in and out more than you need to. Imagined as well the swimming pool area was more secluded from the rooms, but the units are all close together facing the pool so if outside privacy is important this may not be ideal for you.

Set in such a beautiful part of the country. Stunning views of the Umtamvuna river. Our hosts were so welcoming and we will definitely be back.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2024The view from the pool was beautiful overlooking a luscious green forest. It was a very serene and quiet environment. The place was very neat, clean and comfortable. Very nicely styled. My kids loved the bunk beds and the library. The owners were very friendly as well.
I only didn't like the gravel road needed to get there but once you drive a couple of times on it then you get used to it.

The Wi-Fi is quite slow, likely due to the remote location of the property.

Reviewed Oct 17, 2023Stunning rooms with a stunning view. The accommodation has everything you could need and feels very home-away-from-home. The rooms are exceptionally clean and so is the outside area. We loved having a braai and sit at the bottom area overlooking the river mouth. The weather stopped us from having a bonfire, but we will just have to do that next time! We can't wait for our next stay.
The accommodation is lovely and so is the general street that it's in. The surrounding town area is not so great though and the drivers are unpredictable. I would suggest stocking up on what you need and enjoying your stay at the cabanas completely stress free :)

The unit catered for everything you could possible need Coffee, Milk, toothpaste, shower gel, a modern clean bathroom. Immaculate pool, Fire Pit, Garden, etc. Great location with a beautiful view.
The kilometer or so of sand road leading to the property is in Poor condition. The Umtamvuna river is not within walking distance of the property.

It doesn't feel safe to travel to the location at night.
