Provider-sourced guest reviews.
This house is spectacular. I read about the history of it, 700 years old and restored by the owners over a period of 3 years. It's decor is rich and completely in keeping with the grandeur of the house. The location was excellent being very close to the town centre. Car parking is at the mall just across the road and it's charges were very reasonable.
Our room was in the front meaning there was a bit of road noise but that didn't stop us sleeping soundly.
Big room, easy check in, big mirrors, sufficient plugs, fancy decor,
Room very warm, bed small for the room, pillows ere absolutely awful basically flat, no shower, not enough milk provided to even make one coffee
Central location in Maidstone. A building full of character. Big comfortable bedroom with big ensuite bathroom. Ample Coffee Tea supplied.
Had difficulty opening main door on first day, 4 digit code did not appear to work. Resolved fairly quickly.
The room was spacious, with an excellent bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, though the pillows were a little tired. Plenty of space to hang clothing and suits, with an iron and ironing board provided.
The room was incredibly warm, with only a fan to circulate air. This meant leaving the windows open all night to try and cool the room. With the location being central Maidestone, this meant sleeping to the sound of constant traffic passing all night.
Beautiful suite and really clean, which I was surprised at such an old building! Ideal location for going into town.
It is a hot summer so I know it's difficult but some kind of air conditioning or fans bigger than were provided would have been ideal. Above and beyond would have been a mini fridge of some kind. No provided car parking so have to pay at multistory car park - although got 24 hours not a bad price.
Beautiful old building with lots of character. Super comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. We were upgraded for free to the best suite, which we were most grateful for.
Nothing.
The owner didn’t look or sound welcoming when he saw me There was no orientation to the property so I kept on getting missing and stumbling into empty bedrooms
First of all, on the website it’s a different check out time, then I was presented with a welcome pack that said different time.According to the welcome pack, I couldn’t eat in my room, there was a dining room downstairs which was never showed to me Their Wi-Fi is a joke even though I signed in, I used my data throughout It was boring as the TV did not work even though he came to show how but nothing worked except for subscription Chanels like Netflix. It was also very hot with an ineffective fan , for the amount I paid I would be happy with an air conditioner under this weather we are experiencing these days
Lovely place with own unique style,
Room was far to hot would stay agin but not in the height of summer
Lovely house
Terrible location and very noisy if the windows were open and too hot if the windows were closed
It was a welcome step back in time with a modern twist in a central location
There was some road noise but it was a very warm night and I had the windows wide open so it couldn’t be avoided. It’s a plus that it is in a central location so road noise should be expected
Room was very nice 👌
Poor coffee and tea facilities in room, no fridge or water,no live tv as on ariel
Very grand and lovely people
No parking
Really superb acco.odation
Little. It of traffic noise but no great issue
They upgraded us for no extra cost!
It was quite loud at night, but this is entirely out of the host's control due to the location
This is such a cool place! Bed was super comfy and I had the best sleep.
Nothing literally nothing!
Fantastic family owned hotel , free upgrade without asking, excellent hospitality !
Just a most lovely place,felt like a King.clean,A stunning place,will return.You cannot go wrong here.thank you Host,Cracking Place...

Incredibly easy to find, welcoming, and beautiful property. The hosts were exceptional and made us feel so comfortable. Rooms are stunning and well cared for, the entire property has been furnished and looked after incredibly well. Would thoroughly recommend
The property is historic and very nicely done to capture the beauty of old world style. I felt very safe and the property is controlled by electronic keys. It is a very quiet place to relax and enjoy your stay. I enjoyed reading about the history and the suit of armor was cool! I would stay here again.
The only drawback is that there is no air conditioning. But that’s the norm in London/Maidstone. They do provide a fan and you can open the windows for the breeze which is cool and fresh.
The building is beautiful; the rooms are beautiful.
We stayed in room 1. It was a room for 2 people. The bed was so small that we were clinging to the edge so we wouldn’t fall out. It appeared to be smaller than a double but bigger than a single. The bed also had springs which were uncomfortable as they could be felt when lying/sitting on the bed. Whenever we book with booking.com we always end up with rooms that aren’t great. This room certainly wasn’t worth the cost we paid. So disappointed.
An exceptional home, made you feel like you were at home and not in a hotel; peaceful and quiet and lovely rooms and decor, I’d stay again.
Everything was perfect
The property is absolutely stunning, and the location excellent. It was surprisingly quiet, given how near it is to the high street.
Beautiful period building in the heart of Maidstone absolutely packed with character. It even has a suit of armour in the entrance hall. Large comfortable rooms four poster beds, just beautiful. Plenty of streaming channels on the TV
I stayed on a Saturday night and because it's so close to great night life and the main road, it does get noisy outside. It was a very hot night so I had the window open. Luckily I had ear plugs so I slept like a log but it would have been a problem without.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Stone Court House for a single night but I wish it had been longer! The original structure of the hotel is 700 years old and has been incredibly well maintained and extended. It is more central than I was expecting, which was ideal for me as I had no car. I was fortunate to stay in The Judge Rigby room, and could not have been happier. The room, including ensuite, was stylish. large, very comfortable and immaculately presented. It had everything you could want: iron, toiletries, tea, coffee and tasty biscuits! However, the standouts for me were the wooden beams of the roof, the freestanding clawfoot bath and the remarkably comfortable bed. The comms before arrival from the owners, Saban and Belinda May, were welcoming and very informative, including details on how to access the hotel & room, and car parking (if required). I wish I could have stayed longer … particularly to enjoy the stately, old-world look & feel of the reception rooms … but will return in the future! I would highly recommend the Stone Court House for anyone seeking comfortable, old-world accommodation in the heart of Maidstone.
It’s very difficult to find anything to highlight here - I loved everything ❤️
Beautiful place, very clean and great location
Best of the best ❤️
Simple to book in, very comfortable bed, quiet, good size room, everything worked as expected, very happy with my choice.
Not much really. For a double bed it was very small, perfect for me, but if their was two it would of been too small.
Fabulous historical building and decor, a treat for those who like that kind of vibe 🤩 very peaceful, we didn’t see a soul when using communal areas. Very clean and maintained to high standard.
The only suggestion I’d make is a better lighting near bathroom or bedroom mirror should there be a need to put makeup on or do your hair- it is a bit too dim at the moment. Also, for those who like to use footwear around the house- make sure you bring your slippers with you, as you’re not allowed to wear shoes inside the building!
Hotel interior is beautiful. Everything is totally spotless and very high quality. Bed was amazing, bath was great. Generous tea and coffee and milk provided. Totally beats modern hotels hand down for decor and character. Totally exceeded my expectations.
I asked for a quiet room but the traffic noise was very invasive and during the evening I left my room for some peace. From 5 .15 am I was aware of the traffic noise. I would love to try an internal room away from the traffic noise, and would like to return but would not want to stay in room 5 again because of the noise. I feel sorry for the hosts as this is not their fault and wish them the best. I have got sensitive hearing so others may not be bothered by the traffic noise, and ear plugs were provided, but I don’t like to use these.
Beautiful property, very straight forward instruction before arival. I would i Highly recommend
Lovely historic building which has been restored by the owners, but not over-restored. It is situated on a busy main road, but there is secondary glazing and we were not bothered by noise. Parking is 50m away, but there is skill at finding your way into the Mall car park, accessible only from one direction. The owner is charming and friendly and very helpful. The room price is very reasonable. Maidstone is a genuine, unpretentious Kentish town with a good selection of restaurants and pubs. Prices are reasonable by South of England standards. Everything is walking distance from the hotel. The hotel rooms are spacious, simply furnished, clean and fresh. Coffee/tea is constantly available downstairs.
Matress on the bed a bit hard for me. Can't open the windows.
Everything, the decor the cleanliness and how unique the property is
This would be my 4th separate time at this property and there is a reason for that, amazing vibe, clean and perfect if you want something a bit more personal and unique as opposite to standard hotel this is the place!
As a history fanatic I LOVED this building. I have lived in Maidstone for 11 years and had no idea there was a guest house right down the road! We stayed for one night to get away from the kids, and walked down from where we live, as it was only a 20 minute walk, but you can park at the mall and it’s relatively reasonable priced. The location is not the best as it’s a very busy road, but walking in the front doors you would not think lower stone street is where you are! As I said I’m a history fanatic and read up on the extensive work the owners put into this property, using old and of the time materials, really warmed my heart, as it’s more often than not, people use more modern materials to renovate old buildings. I loved everything about the house, it’s truly stunning and I think you’ve done a superb job decorating with so much detail. Bravo. We didn’t have much choice of rooms as I booked literally on the day, so we stayed in room 5 on the top floor, it was a beautiful room unfortunately the bed was a little hard and uncomfortable so we did wake up a few times through the night. I would definitely stay again as I’d love to try the other rooms.
Bed was a little hard
Loved the styling and old school feel. Very old building 700 years old I believe.. And I’m glad it feels that way. Me and my partner had a lovely time. Classic bedroom with a modern bathroom was a nice touch. Very clean also!!
Nothing wrong with the property at all, next to a very busy main road, and check out felt a little early. But I completely understand the rooms need to be cleaned etc.
This is a beautifully furnished accommodation where the owner has obviously gone to some trouble with lovely bathrooms and a pleasant central seating area
The location is in the middle of traffic on all sides ,with extensive vibration caused by such traffic
Lovely old property. Great sized rooms.
Mattress very uncomfortable. Couldn't really have window open at night as so much traffic noise
Every thing was excellent
Nothing to dislike
The whole property is absolutely stunning. I have now stayed at the property on two occasions, and both experiences have been exceptional. From the communal reception area, up the grand staircases and into the bedrooms, everything is immaculate, and furnished to a very high standard. This is certainly not just a normal guest house, the property owners have put a lot of time and no doubt great expense into creating such a beautiful property. Communication with the owners Saban & Belinda was excellent also. I received clear instructions on how to access the property immediately after confirming my booking, and on this occasion also received a free upgrade to “The Judge Huddlestone” larger room than I had initially booked, complete with four poster bed & roll top bath. As well as being huge, the room was also spotlessly clean, and like the rest of the property the furnishing was superb. For anyone looking to stay in the Maidstone area, look no further than Stone Court House, you won’t be disappointed!!
Nothing
A home away from home. Made to feel very welcome by the owner who was more than happy to show us around and share the history of the venue. Comfortable rooms with coffee machines and water at various locations within the house.
The location, being on a busy road.
I absolutely loved everything about Stone Court House. The hotel is beautifully furnished in a classic Georgian style, with elegant antique touches, rich fabrics and refined traditional décor that create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere — it truly feels like staying in a charming English country residence. I initially arrived for just one night, but the atmosphere was so wonderful — and the bed so exceptionally comfortable — that I decided to extend my stay for an additional night. The hospitality was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and always ready to help. A special thank you to Mr. Saban, the hotel administrator, whose professionalism and personal attention made my stay even more pleasant. I was especially grateful to be provided with a spacious White Panel room, which offered the perfect privacy and comfort for my online work and interviews that day. It made a real difference and allowed me to work in complete peace. The location is superb — perfectly situated close to local amenities in a lovely, peaceful neighbourhood. There is also an amazing Italian restaurant nearby with a cozy, home-like atmosphere, which was a delightful bonus.
Honestly, there was nothing to dislike. Everything exceeded my expectations. (If you prefer something softer, you could write: “There was nothing significant to mention — the stay was truly enjoyable.”)
Lovely room in a beautiful building, very nice indeed.
Romantic environment
Car park more expensive.
This is a beautiful little gem of a place in the heart of Maidstone...hosts were friendly and welcoming.
I can't complain..everything was as explained in the booking..
Didnt have time for breakfast
Nothing
Stunning property So much care and attention gone into the design and upkeep. A very special place
Nothing
No hassle out of hours check in, after a very last minute booking. Very nice communal areas, great bathroom and powerful hot shower.
Pillows unusable due to feather quills that poked through the cases. Had trouble sleeping due to noise from the road, with windows that did not seal fully and a very thin curtain that was barely big enough to cover the window.
Always perfect
What not to like? The place is absolutely stunning. From the moment walking through the front door, through the lobby, and up to my room, was jaw-dropping. So much space, everything immaculate and comfortable. Even the shower was easy to use! With regards to booking, I sometimes find self check-in a bit daunting, as you never know what to expect with fiddly buttons and keys and doors to use etc etc. But here, everything was simple, and all explained in simple terms from the host. Even I couldn't go wrong. I had a quick google of the property, the history of it is incredible and to read what the current owners have done since taking over they should be very proud of what they have achieved. Do yourself a favour, if you ever get the chance to stay here, please do, you will not be disappointed.
That I can't rate this more than a 10.
Beautiful house, loved reading the history of the building. Very comfortable and luxurious
Wish we could have had breakfast but understand the reasons why they dont do food
I didn't have one
Just room and bed.
Room and bed looked bigger in photos.hosts good but pokey room.
The decor, the facilities, the location and the excellent communication. All round perfect.
You can hear the road noise from some rooms.
Totally amazing experience from the moment you walk through the front door. Outstanding value for such an exquisite stay. Exceptional clean, comfortable beds, rooms spacious and the hosts welcoming and very friendly .
Cleanliness, , rooms very spacious, facilities, location and excellent hosts Belinda & Saban
Beautiful place. Helpful and nice people.
Beautifully decorated, very comfortable.
Beside a busy road so I was kept awake by people shouting and traffic till 3.30 am.
A truly beautiful family run hotel with amazing history. The value for money was incredible for such a stunning place. The family who run the business were helpful, polite, and very accommodating, and spent time with us and made suggestions on the local area also. We would definitely stay again. THANK YOU!
Amazing period property with a rich history and a very warm and comfortable ambiance, thick carpets and I felt my every need catered for. You will feel cosseted. The owner was warm and friendly without being intrusive. I ended up booking in for two nights and was upgraded to a wonderful room I would book again in a heartbeat. I would definitely return and recommend this delightful accommodation!
Be prepared it is right on a main road so you will get road noise, but my room was right at the front and the noise did not bother me. The plus point is it is just a few minutes walk to all of Maidstone’s amenities (so basically not a negative).
Beautiful building, wonderful rooms to walk into on entry downstairs. Loved the history - would have loved more, if possible. Room decor was very pleasant.
Mattress could have been a bit higher but all was absolutely fine otherwise. The shoe rule is a bit strange but slippers on entrance might have been helpful.
All of it. A fabulous house created with so much love by the owners. So many historical goodies and such a calm space. I was in need of a haven and absolutely found it. A jewel of Maidstone.
Nothing.
I stayed in December 2025 and the christmassy cosy vibe was spot on. Gorgeous tree in reception with choral music playing, low lighting. Room was perfect, large soft towels, easy to use stand alone bath, hot water immediately. Pillows and bed very comfortable and the heating was spot on. Never felt chilly. Nice to have tea and coffee in the rooms and there was plentiful supply of water in glass bottles in a fridge at the bottom of the stairs. Lovely to return after a work event and a bit of Christmas shopping and chill in one of the many living rooms downstairs. Check in and check out was simple. Met the owner Saban as I was leaving, lovely chap. He also messaged restaurant recommendations and checked how the stay was going. Desk in the room was great to get some work done and the TV worked easily, logged into Netflix without any trouble. Such a hidden gem!
I cannot think of anything I didnt like.
Really nice and friendly staff who made us feel incredibly welcome. The room an property is lovely and characterful and feels incredibly homely. I would definitely return.
We had a lovely stay at Stone Court House Hotel hosted by Saban and Belinda. The property is warm, cosy, and beautifully maintained, with so much character throughout. Being a Grade II listed building, it has a real sense of history, but everything inside feels so comfortable and homely. The interior is especially charming, with so many original features that make it feel unique and welcoming. The rooms were well prepared and had everything we needed, including thoughtful touches like milk, tea, and coffee supplies. Downstairs there are Nespresso machines available, which was a great extra, along with a pleasant dining area where you can sit and eat comfortably. Overall, the hotel feels feels very homely and very well looked after, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. A great place to stay if you’re looking for comfort, character, and a cosy setting in Maidstone. We would happily stay again and look forward to booking soon.
Character
The rooms was extremely cramped and cold. Ok for one night but claustrophobic if any longer.
It didn’t highlight that the parking wasn’t onsite or free before booking.
Every thing so clean very helpful and so relaxing
Nothing every thing was amazing
This place has the Wow factor I would highly recommend. We were lucky enough to stay in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. One of the bathrooms had a stand alone bath and a lounge in it. The other had a shower cubicle. Awesome.
Nothing not to like.
Lovely place to stay. Beautiful furnishings and very nice room. Spotless
Nothing
Right in the middle of city. The owner is amazing, so helpful and nice. Also updated my room for free. Had wonderful experience. Many thanks
Loved all the period furniture and quirky features.
Great location

Beautifully restored period property with lovely comfortable four poster bed. Nice and warm too.
Very much liked the property, but a couple of things would make it even better… Raise bathroom mirror so you don’t have to crouch down. A comfy chair to sit in so you don’t have to always sit on the bed ( as we were in one of the smaller rooms, this may be impractical, but would prefer this to a desk) However lots of lovely rooms to sit in downstairs!
Great hotel with beautiful rooms and comfortable beds. Owner was very helpful and really good man. Will definitely be coming back here.
