Excellent, staff were incredibly helpful and friendly!!! Breakfast was good lots of choice ! Kindly gave us cookies on New Year’s Eve. We also booked a brilliant boat tour through them. We can’t recommend tour A enough. The only thing we would say was the room was a little dark. But this is really the only very minor thing. Definitely stay here if you’re visiting El Nido. This place is heaven on earth. If I could give it more than 5 out of 5 I would. From the beautiful and caring staff to the amazing facilities, we could not ask for more. NYE was a fantastic with a banquet that left us speechless. Little caring gestures like a jar of goodies at night, remembering our names and always polite and friendly staff. Private beach was picturesque and water was crystal clear. We will be back!

We visited with our family of 22, and our stay was absolutely amazing. Ms. Val truly went above and beyond, assisting us in every way possible. From organizing excursions to providing excellent restaurant recommendations—and even memorizing all of our names—her attention to detail was exceptional. Every member of the staff was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Such a great experience! The beach access alone is worth the stay. The hotel provides access to a private beach that is accessed by boat. Transportation is provided and to say it was stunning is an understatement. The hotel itself is not beachfront but the town is easily accessible. The food at the hotel was excellent. We enjoyed the Friday night buffet and breakfast was also very good. Service was beyond excellent. Val at the front desk was super communicative. We had troubles with issues that had nothing to do with the hotel and Val went above and beyond to help us navigate our challenges and helped us to find solutions. To say I was impressed by the service is an understatement. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. It’s a little more than I wanted to spend in El Nido but I’m super glad we stayed here.

The staff and its management are doing an amazing job to feel welcomed and at home during our time in El Nido. Almost every day you find a homemade cookie or some pasterie in your room. The hotel is located in El Nido town close to everything within walking distance. Hotel facilities are well preserved and in very good shape. Food is very delicious. We highly recomend The funny lion to other travellers that seek hospitality with an extra personal touch.

This has been the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The whole experience has made me feel like I’m at a resort with the highest care. The food is gourmet, staff is phenomenal in every way and the beauty of el nido is perfect. They remember your name and are quick to serve you. They also organize any adventure you want, creating a stress free environment.

BEST HOTEL I’ve ever been to! Seriously top quality in every way. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond. So friendly and personable and helpful. Kuya Marvin picked us up from the airport and was great and gave us good info. Val and Sierra were both so helpful and fun and friendly! The best experience talaga. Loved how they helped us book our day trips and excursions. The breakfast buffet every morning was incredible. The Christmas party was so fun. The Papaya Beach (private and secluded) was spectacular! I could go on and on about everything and everyone from this place!

Our family most often now stays in airbnb's because we like the autonomy and privacy. But staying at the Funny Lion was an extraordinary experience for us. I felt that the service, attention to detail, and personal attention were beyond compare. The staff knows each person's name in the family and calls you by your name every time they see you. The meals were extraordinary. I'm my taste they were goyrmet. The design and detailing of the facility is gorgeous. The recommended excursions and outside providers turned out to be like the Funny Lion, beyond our expectations. They exceeded everything we wished for here and I couldn't recommend them more highly.

We came here to celebrate our Christmas holidays and left with such beautiful memories. The staff at Funny Lion is so so warm and friendly. Their smiles and warmth matches the bright sunshine of the beautiful El Nido. Both Val and Cjay are such wonderful helpful souls. Loved the way they would greet us with our names with big grins! I travel a lot with my partner to 4 and 5 star hotel this is consider 5 star the detail is incredible and the staff amazing. We will come back for sure. If you are thinking to come on a festivo day don’t hesitate they are so detail and the food is amazing congrats to the chefs

We enjoyed our time at the Funny Lion. Highlights included the Christmas Eve buffet where the food was amazing and service was great. The staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you, (a special shout out to Val on reception who went above and beyond for us each day). Breakfast was good each morning - another mention for the lovely egg chef who cooked us perfect eggs each morning and always had a smile on his face - thank you!! Very thoughtful touches like afternoon treats delivered to our room every afternoon and Christmas presents for each guest. A few points which could have improved our stay - lack of storage and lighting in our room which meant living out of a suitcase for our stay, the loud rooster behind our room who woke us most mornings, a proper toaster at breakfast time (a real point of frustration!), a bit more atmosphere / guests events in the evening time as the bar area was often very quiet. Thank you again - we would recommend staying here if you find yourself in El Nido.

We had the most exceptional experience at the funny lion. The locations is the best! Away from the very crazy downtown. But close to everything. The best part is they arrange everything for you. Help you with tours and taxi tricycles etc. they are the loveliest, sweetest people. The hotel itself is so unique and beautiful. The food is outstanding. We had breakfast every day. And they bring cookies at night. And snacks to the pool. The place is clean and so unique and has such a cool vibe. There is no elevator just fyi. Now that I have been here I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. If you can book this place do it. They also put a 3rd bed in a twin room so my three college age sons could stay together. The staff use your names everytime they see you! Wow! They are responsive to emails as you plan your stay! The bed was so comfy and they have fresh water for you each day. I can’t say enough good. Thanks Val and everyone that helped us. I wish I knew each name like they did for us!!!

The front desk team, including the security staff, were always cheerful and very helpful, especially Val, she greeted us by name every time we saw her :). The F&B team took great care of us with tireless energy and a constant smile — special thanks to Vince and Sharmaine. The rooms were always clean, the Christmas party was great fun, and the hotel is conveniently located for island-hopping tours.

Everyday they bring you fresh cookies in the room and the service to papaya beach is amazing! When you check out they even give you a little sweet for on the road.

Blown away by the service here and how clean the amenities are. Breakfast is wonderful and the beds are comfortable. They bring you fresh cookies and treats each day to your room complimentary and the location could not be better. Close to all food locations and walking distance from a beautiful beach. Their gym was also top notch as someone who works out frequently in the US. I would stay here every time I come back to El Nido. 5 stars for me. Can’t find a negative. Val is like a magician of a host and Nardo is the most caring hard worker when you arrive. Constantly greeted and felt welcomed like home.

El Nido never disappoints! The hotel is just a few minutes drive from the airport and also just literally few steps away from the town center and the beach!!! Was pleasantly surprised by the personalised welcome note they have prepared with the ever present fresh coconut for all incoming guests in the room! My stay’s highlight though was the food! My tummy was so happily satisfied by the food they serve at the Hunt’s. I specially liked their Prawn Penang curry with coconut rice and the Ragu Pasta with slow cooked beef (can’t remember the exact name of the dish). It’s a must try! I joined the Papaya beach tour arranged by the hotel with free use of the kayak the next day and the staff from the reception to the drivers and boat man (happily helped take photos for me🤗) were very warm, polite and friendly.

We had the best time at the Funny lion in el Nido. Very centrally located, incredible boat tours (many times the only ones in secret lagoons and beaches) and access to a private beach via boat made the experience unforgettable. The hotel is also very modern, with a great spa and extremely helpful and kind staff. Highly recommend!

The staff make this hotel. From the front desk, the waiting staff, housekeeping, everyone is so attentive and friendly. I’m not sure how, Val on front desk remembers the names of every guest and greets you by your name every time she sees you. The food is top notch, especially the Friday night grill. Good location with nearby restaurants, very friendly and accommodating staff. Comfortable bed. Good shower. The pool is mostly shaded so the water is refreshing. Good variety for breakfast. French press coffee in the room and bar is so much better than nescafe! Front desk woman knows every guest by name - amazing!

What an amazing experience in El Nido! When it stated pouring our first day upon arrival we took the opportunity to chill and settle in the hotel. Little did we know steps away was town center and a range of options for food and drink! Definitely the perfect and most convenient location to enjoy the heart of El Nido. Val, Nard and the entire team were so friendly and accommodating during our entire stay. From reservations at their excellent spa to giving us friendship bracelets and banana cake to send us off on our journey we truly felt like valued guests during the stay. Extra shout out to Val who helped us out with our stay at the Coron location when all flights were cancelled from strong winds! The Funny Lion El Nido is a perfect spot to rest, relax and recharge during any stay to El Nido and had the freshest and best fruit assortment during our 2 week stint in the Philippines!

Our family had an amazing stay at The Funny Lion in El Nido! The food at the Hunt restaurant and complimentary breakfasts were incredible. The great location made it so easy to explore the town. And the massages at the spa were wonderful!

Best value in all of El Nido. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is very attentive. All of the amenities are incredible. Be sure to use the private access to Papaya Beach on one of the days. Hotel is also very eco friendly which is a huge plus.

Lovely hotel situated in heart of el nido ,made you feel so welcome with little extra touches ,welcome cake,fresh fruit and fruit juices, free bag and bandana, with own private beach (papaya beach) just 15 minutes away by boat with is a free service, absolutely stunning beach with bar and covered bamboo sunbathing decks, towels supplied for you. Reception was one of the most friendliest happy helpful people you could wish for they couldn't do enough for you special shout out to Kim on Reception she welcomed us everyday remembering our names with a beautiful smile. The location is very convenient since it is only walking distance from the El Nido town proper. The front desk staff also make it a point to remember your name. Breakfast buffet is average but good value for money. The free visit to Papaya Beach is a nice offering to the guests as well. Only downside is that that there is no elevator in the premises.

I had an amazing experience at this boutique hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were exceptionally friendly, especially Val, who has been so sweet and welcoming and Christian for the great conversations sharing knowledge about Filipino history, culture, and facts about El Nido! The entire property is spotless; you can tell they take great pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable. The absolute highlights was the hotel’s private beach. They provide a shuttle, and once you arrive, the water is incredibly clear and clean with complimentary kayak rental, mats and hammocks — truly a slice of paradise. The team that manages the boat is incredible...one of them literally dived into the water and swam back to shore to find one of the guests' shoes they left forgotten on the beach. The egg station at breakfast is fantastic—having a fresh omelette cooked right in front of you is such a great touch and really sets the tone for the day. I also had dinner at the hotel one evening, and it was outstanding. The chef truly outdid himself, especially with the crab special in coconut milk—absolutely delicious. The hotel location couldn’t be better, just a short walk to the town square and the beach, making it perfect for exploring and relaxing. Overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommended!

Wonderful small boutique hotel in El Nido where everyone knows your name and greets you with a smile. Kudos to Val at the front desk for helping me as i spiraled due to my missing luggage. My luggage was delayed the entire time i was in el nido. She coordinated with the airline to make sure it would arrive before i left for the next stage of my trip. Truly truly grateful.

Location - right next to town square and is convenient to walk around town. Rooms were tidy and were managed well. The major selling point for them is their access to private beach (papaya beach) with free shuttle/ferry to and fro - this is really special for a crowded destination like El Nido. The hotel reception is responsive on WhatsApp. Would come back if I consider this destination again. On the negative side (probably applicable to all hotels in this town) is the passing traffic noise (it ain't very bad). They do give ear plugs just in case.

On our arrival received a warm welcome from Val and the reception team. They were always courteous and remembered our names. Throughout our service the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing especially the omelettes. Special shout to the young man making the omelettes. Rooms are on the small side but comfortable. Showers are not the best as the area gets flooded. We did not use the pool, but loved the beach this a big plus when staying here. The taff on the boats were helpful. Manager was responsive to our requests.

The Funny Lion is one of the nicest places you can stay in El Nido. It is beautifully designed, clean, and staffed with friendly professionals. The hotel is well situated in El Nido, a good distance from the noisy downtown bustle, yet well within short walking distance. The breakfast and restaurant is good, and there’s a great bakery for coffee and pastries right across the street. What elevates The Funny Lion above other places is the outstanding service. I want to specifically commend Val, Kim, and Cjay for going above and beyond, especially for assisting with organizing our transportation for all our friends across town to Nacpan.  A special shout-out to Kim, who went out of her way to track down, retrieve, and personally deliver an item for a friend (who wasn’t even a guest!) who had left it behind in our transport. This level of care is a reflection of the hotel’s high standards. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting El Nido!

Wonderfully welcomed and received by “Val” at reception and treated like Royalty by her and the staff 🙌🏻♥️ Fantastic welcome and care by theHotel Manager “Mac” who went out his way to make us feel at home and care for us. Lovely comfortable Room with great bed, tv, bathroom, and all facilities. Attractive pool and amazing jacuzzi. Our evening buffet meal over-the-top amazing variety of dishes and deserts. The staff including: - Valentine (meal manager) - Shem (bar manager) - Menchie - Maricel - Joshua - Vince all so very kind, caring and helpful ! Evening live music couple (Laurence and Jhess) absolutely outstanding ! Had everyone dancing and having a wonderful time ! Valentine took amazing videos and pictures to commemorate our anniversary ! We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel is fantastic. Location is perfect, just around the corner from the town square, close to restaurants, shops and the beach for any tours you want to do. Rooms are comfortable with everything you need. With gifts in the room and on departure too . What makes this hotel so memorable is the staff. They are amazing! Every single member was warm and welcoming every day! Remembering our names from day one and welcoming us back after every trip. I didn’t get everybody’s name but… A special shout out to Ms Val, Rachel, Cjay on reception, security Ferido jnr who is so friendly. Highly recommend this hotel !

We stayed at The Funny Lion El Nido from 21st–25th November to celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary, and WOW — this hotel made it unforgettable from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with welcome drinks and a cold towel, followed by a lovely hotel and room tour. But the real magic happened when we entered our room… they surprised us with a beautiful anniversary dessert, music, and a personalised welcome message on the TV. Super, super sweet and totally unexpected — such a thoughtful touch! A huge shoutout to the entire hotel staff, especially Val, the supervisor and her team who was incredibly attentive, personable, and warm throughout our stay. Everyone we met was so helpful, friendly, and genuinely made us feel special. We also had the pleasure of getting to know Mac, the General Manager, who was just as friendly, approachable, and hard-working as the rest of his team. It was clear how much he cares about every guest’s experience — truly impressive! We arranged a private rooftop dinner with the team, and it was absolutely perfect. The service, the setup, the food — everything exceeded expectations and made our anniversary evening incredibly special. On our last day, we received a Signal 1 weather warning, and the hotel went above and beyond to help us. They advised and assisted with a van transfer to Puerto Princesa, drawing on their experience with many previous guests in similar situations. Their knowledge about airport flight cancellations and delays was invaluable and helped make a potentially stressful day smooth and worry-free. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. I would highly recommend The Funny Lion El Nido to anyone visiting Palawan. Ms Melanie 💃🏽 & Sir Jeff will definitely be coming back. 🦁❤️✨

Great experience, love the aesthetic. Could use an elevator but doesn’t take away from the experience. Breakfast was sooooooo good! 5 stars!
