Parfait pour moi merci
Vraiment parfait !
Très propre et bien entretenu! Service professionnel! Excellent pour une bonne nuit de repos! Je vais revenir promis!
Overall I really like the place. I put 4 stars because it was a little bit difficult to sleep at night. An air purifier will be good in the room 302.
Charmante auberge d’antan.
Easy check in. Nice clean room. Lovely grounds and lots of useable common areas.
Propre,calme
Très propre.Facile d accès
Super
Cozy comfortable
This is a unique stay in the heart of the historic mining district. It was nice to walk around and see all the original log homes that belonged to the miners. Our room and adjoining bathroom were both immaculate. It was nice to have use of the kitchen and dining room. The Auberge has a sitting area in the enclosed porch and outdoor patio seating. It is unusual to remove your shoes at the door but I do understand. I did not realize immediately that I had to lock the front door behind me (thought it would lock automatically) or that I had to re-enter the code when leaving our room. It was a lovely, quiet place to stay.
Auberge historique avec du cachet
Good accommodation. Comfortable!
Good
All was as described
Cute, clean and quiet. Loved this place.
Merci!
Nice
yes
A lovely room all the way around. Sound privacy was lacking. Couldn’t park in the street overnight.
I love that room & always prefer it with washroom. It’s always clean too
cute and simple
Very nice room with independent lock, beautiful (shared) bathroom, excellent kitchen facilities. All communication was via email, no one was on site, but the instructions were very clear. Lots of parking (I parked in the back). Nice restaurant just a couple of walking minutes away, good brewpub a longer (but comfortable) walk away.
👍
It was really clean and smell really nice ..loved it
Very comfy
This eloquent older building has a lot of character having been one of the first boarding houses for single miners in Val d’Or in the early years. It has everything you need. It is in a quiet area of town yet close to important transportation routes. The owner, Nico, is very pleasant and accommodating. I would highly recommend the Auberge L’Opailleur.
Merci
This is a step back in time! What an absolutely charming place to stay! Squeaky old wooden floors, narrow stairways and lovely vintage furniture! Clean and homey!
Beautiful building, probably an old family home. In a really nice part of town, and however few shops that are in the area. The room was really nice and had a sick, coffee maker (pod form) tv, and fan. For some reasons the room was really hot despite having a fan running the whole time I was there. Bathroom was big and clean.
the place was wonderful..the host was welcoming..room was very nice..wud stay here again
Very old building
Cool
If you want modern facilities and amenities closer to town (and you're willing to spend 2-3X the money), don't stay here. However, if you want to experience the real history and character of Val d'Or, stay at l'auberge.
All is perfect
Super belle place et très propre
This is a historic building from 1935 converted from a residence for single gold miners to a lovely hostel. It is set in a neighborhood of preserved log cabins built by the mining company at the same time. The hostel is also in walking distance to the mine museum and very nice bistro. Loved it all!
Quaint, historically and very welcoming, cozy. Really enjoyed our stay.
Liked everything about this place stayed one night on way from montreal to winnipeg! Definitely will stay for resting again if I am on the road!
I love that room hopefully I’lol get lucky to have again in my future travels because I want my own toilet because of health issues.
Nice place very typical
The stay was exactly what I'd hoped. Staff was amazing. Helped me recover items I'd forgotten very quickly. Steps shoveled at 6 am before anyone was awake. Great environment. Beautiful little mining village.
C’est un bel endroit
Very clean
Francine & Jean
On a beaucoup aimé. Nice cosy place, quiet and very clean. Rooms are just adorable the way they are set up. We really liked it. Overall, a nice place to stay .

Very clean and bed very comfortable. Bathroom freshly renovated. I will go back when I am in Val D'or.
Très bien. Lit confortable.
Well, we stayed on April 12, 2023 and it was very quiet very clean they even add a Keurig machine The only thing is that need a air conditioning for the room it’s was little bit warm or a fan. There was no noise at night very quiet
Stayed one night for work with co-worker. Room was very clean, the area is very peaceful and charming. The host are quite nice and served us warm homemade pancake for breakfast. They added blueberry that were handpicked in the area. It's a a nice touch. I though that the host were a bit loud downstairs during the (late) evening. I think they had friends over for dinner. It's not ideal if you are trying to get work done or have an early night in. But my co-worker who staying in a room further from the staircase didn't ear anything. I would recommend this place.
My husband and I stayed at L'Auberge de l"Orpailleur last week. It is a cozy old house located in the mining section of the town. The host and hostess (and their 2 year old daughter) are charming and speak English well. So, don't let not knowing French stop you from going! The street the Auberge is on is lined with quaint, small log cabins, all former housing for miners.
A co-worker and I were staying in another B&B for work in Val D'Or - and we had to move over the Auberge de L'Orpailleur over one weekend when the other one was full. The rooms were bright (big windows), clean, and comfortable. We each had private bathrooms. Breakfast was continental - but adequate. We had to get up very early for work, and so the host put the coffee-pot on a timer so it was freshly made when we woke up! The hosts were very nice, the one gentleman who helped us the most was very friendly and accommodating, and unfortunately I can't remember his name! The house is close to a beautiful trail - we went for a run and it was quite nice. It's also close to a lot of historical sites if you're interested in seeing some old mines. Also - you can get a room on the top floor that has a kitchen and a balcony. Overall, it was a good stay. I would stay here again.
Val D'Or is surprisingly expensive. The price of gold means the town and the mining region are on an upswing and the prices swing up in tandem. Having tried many of the better motels/hotels in town we were feeling adventurous, due partly to a $160 per night rate at one of the above-mentioned establishments. We went to look at L'Orpailleur Bed and Breakfast in the historic miner's village of Bourlamaque which is actually the oldest part of Val D'Or and where the town began. It is clustered around the old mine which offers some very extensive and interesting tours of the mine and connected buildings. The rooms are immaculate with nice semi-authentic touches in the furnishings and the owners, a young family, Frank, Joelle, and their two kids Gabriel and Anne, from France, are genuinely welcoming and helpful. Gabriel, who is four years old sometimes helps out by answering the phone. So if you phone for reservations spend some time with him chatting about this and that. Breakfast is included. It was buckwheat flour crepes with cheese, egg and ham that morning fruit and coffee etc. All as it should be. I think. And had the crepes not been to our liking, other choices would have become available but I like Crepes Sarrazin. The sleep is very peaceful and blissfully tranquil. The Old Village of Bourlamaque is now between the 'downtown' area of Val D'Or and the forest. You will sleep well. And without the off-gasing from carpets and industrial cleaning fluids and air 'fresheners' and other unpleasantness of high turnover motel/hotels. We fully intend to make this our stopover choice in Val D'Or. And the extra sixty bucks in our pockets will get a very good bottle of French wine, or two, indeed.
I stayed at this Auberge for two weeks in March. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. It was definitely nicer than any of the hotels in town and a lower cost as well. There are several rooms at the hotel- some of which have nice, private washrooms. The rooms are well-kept and the bed and overall atmosphere was very comfortable. The house was also pretty quiet for a B&B. The breakfasts each morning were also great a there was a hot portion as well as bread around. The coffee was excellent. The auberge is also located in the best part of Val d'Or, the old mining town but you can still walk ot the downtown in about 15 minutes. Its a big old house and I was very pleased that I chose to stay here and would definitely recommend it.
We had a very enjoyable stay at the charming Auberge Orpailleur in Val d'Or. The inn compares very favorably to its more "commercial" competitors by the quality of its accomodation (the rooms are especially cute), the warmth of the welcoming (the owners are a nice French couple, with children) and its location in the middle of the charming Miners' village of Bourlamaque, a few hundred meters away from the old gold mine that is very interesting to visit.
