Hotel smells absolutely pleasant and enlightening. Easy parking system. Pretty room with excellent cleanliness.

However, I found the pillows to be quite small and thin, and the quality was just average. It would be great if the hotel could provide fuller, more comfortable pillows for a better sleeping experience.

Best breakfast by far in Miri and Mulu region . Nice pastry and kuih selection. The murals by an artist called Jagung were astonishing. Take a picture of the art inside the hotel and view it on your phone later . You'll be surprised . Also , walk around the hotel at the back to fully appreciate art .

I will start with the positives. The "Mercure Hotel" Miri is slap bang in the centre of town. It lies opposite the famous "Ming Cafe" Pub, a cheap place to eat and drink in Miri. The "Imperial Mall" is 5 minutes on foot. "Bintang Mall", which is bigger with obviously a lot more choice, is a longer walkable distance away. But given the heat, a Grab Taxi is more desirable, and will get you there in 5 minutes tops at the cost of 4 ringgits. The hotel staff at the Mercure are very friendly. There is a rooftop pool and bar with delicious alcoholic and alcohol-free cocktails. Upon checking in, each customer gets a voucher for a free scoop of ice-cream. Despite the strawberry ice-cream being so suspiciously brilliantly pink, it was tasty and refreshing. There is a fridge in the room but no microwave and Wi-Fi is constant and reliable. There is a gym with one treadmill, one exercise bike, and some weights but overall the gym was too small.

So now the really important part. I found the design of the hotel rooms to be absolutely abysmal and not well-thought-out at all! I am shocked that none of the other reviews mentioned the layout of the bathroom. The toilet and bathroom are separated in cubicles with a see-through glass door that either "closes" the toilet or the bathroom, meaning there is no privacy at all when you take care of your ablutions. I stayed alone in my room, thankfully, but whether with a friend or with a romantic partner, (unless you have a peeping Tom fetish) why on earth would anyone wish to see someone else taking care of their most intimate hygiene? Just imagine if a member of hotel staff came in to do maintenance, they would be able to see you too! In addition, the rooms are small, and the walls are paper thin, and I could hear telephone conversations of the customer next door. The swimming pool is tiny and the coloured tiles of the swimming pool floor, makes the swimming pool water look very dirty and uninviting. Despite my complaints, the mattress was nice and firm, housekeeping did a great job and I slept very well. However, I would never stay at the Mercure again. It is overpriced and offers no luxury. At a cheaper price, you can stay at the "Pullman Hotel" you have a sea views, enormous bath towels and rooms that are huge, like mini apartments. At the Pullman, the pool is beautiful and the rooms have a microwave. The Pullman is luxurious and beautiful - worlds apart from the Mercure.

I usually get harder pillows, my nights sleep was bad due to noise coming from air conditioning, they did fix it , has it been taken over by different people , found it different, not as friendly, its getting a little grubby needs maintenance before it gets in bad repair, the food menu isnt the best...

We booked connecting room for our family of 4. The rooms are clean and adequate for one night stay. The location is great with plenty of local food near by.

I liked the smell when i first entered the lobby. The room was tidy though and well kept.

The shower room was slippery when wet and nearly fell.

Room is clean and decent with a big TV screen. Electric socket has USB plug for easy charging. Everything in the fridge is complimentary with tea and capsule coffee. Gelato is complimentary too at the lobby. Water pressure is strong. Internet reception is good. Cavakita restaurant at rooftop has a good view of the city. We stayed a night at this hotel before flying off to Mulu. About 15 minutes by taxi from the airport.

The staff are friendly! I park my car in front of the hotel (of course with charges). The rooms are clean! I requested for connecting rooms.

Well location, breakfast food have diversity taste,comfort room, wifi working well and all the staffs very welcome and helpfull..

I love the modern design, the murals, the room, and the service. However, the hotel soundproof is not so good you can hear the sound of the tv from the other side. The breakfast is just okay but some of the food are too salty like the chicken suasage and the bee hoon. Hopefully the food can be improved in the future. Thank you.

The atmosphere is great and very quiet, the location is excellent, and the room is clean and comfortable. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

The bathroom floor is quite slippery, and the water doesn’t flow properly toward the drain. Also, the pillow is too soft.

the room was spaceous. i love how it have a big sofa which is very useful for my kids. i love the bathroom too, very clean and eye catching design. staff was very friendly and helpful too. good customer service.

i kept having issue with the tv ,no network. already called the maintenance ,he managed to fixed it. but after he left ,the tv have problem again. also, not a big fan of changing the bed sheets every third day. i kno it is to safe water etc ,but am just not a fan. hehe.

Staff are so well trained. Each time we stay we feel welcomed and like valued guests. We love the free icecream its a lovely treat. We love the filtered drinking water in the room. The beds are very comfy and the shower is wonderful. Breakfast is always fantastic and varied we all find something we love.

The only downside during my stay and something I’ve mentioned in my previous visits is the room lighting. The lighting is quite warm and dim, which makes it difficult to apply makeup properly. For guests who rely on good lighting to get ready, especially in the morning, brighter or more neutral lighting would make a big difference. Other than that, everything else was great and I always enjoy staying here.

Excellent location with many shops nearby, making it very convenient. The hotel is new and spacious. For this price and location, it’s definitely great value. The front desk staff were also very friendly and even gave us free ice cream!

If you’re driving, the parking is a car lift system. Only the first entry is free. Once you’ve parked, it’s not very convenient to take your car out frequently as you may need to queue, especially during peak hours when the waiting time can be quite long.

We have stayed at Mercure Miri previously in their standard room which we found too small, so we decided to stay in their suite this time. The size was much better. Friendly and helpful staff, free gelato, clean and quiet room, comfortable bed. Hotel parking garage - personally we had little to no wait time to fetch our car (maybe lucky / not peak period?) and the front desk was so kind as to waive our parking fees for our 4-night stay. Thank you!

It would be nice if the rooftop pool was heated, but minor detail. Gym also needs an upgrade - it can only fit about 3 people at a time

Front desk girls were blur and looked anxious and confused when I arrived.

Hässlicher Bau (von außen), innen aber einladend gestaltet mit feinem Café innerhalb der Rezeption, schöne - etwas zu kleine - sehr ruhige Zimmer, gute Ausstattung, bequeme Betten; Rooftop mit gutem Restaurant, (kleinem) Swimmingpool und toller Aussicht über die Stadt.

Von außen modrig verschmutzte Fenster (die wohl schon lange nicht mehr gereinigt wurden). Ein schön gestaltetes Restaurant, aber das Frühstücks-Buffett ist für europäischen Geschmack ein liebloses, langweiliges Standard-Angebot; das Dinner-Buffett war für die Auswahl viel zu teuer. Sehr störend war die überall viel zu laute „Hintergrundmusik“, selbst beim Empfang gab es Verständigungsprobleme, beim Essen war eine Unterhaltung kaum möglich. Für uns wäre es ein Grund, eher ein anderes Hotel zu buchen.

Great location. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Friendly, helpful staff. They allowed me to check in a couple of hours earlier than the listed time. Loved that they have a sustainable in-room filter for drinking water. The free scoop of gelato was a welcome treat. Firm mattress, good water pressure in the bathroom.

Room had a musty smell when I first entered. It went away after the a/c had been switched on for about 30 minutes. There wasn't much of a view, but even if there was you wouldn't be able to see much because the outer side of the window was covered from top to bottom in algae/green muck. Water from the bathroom sink tap was initially brown/rust in colour. Had to let it run for a few minutes before it became clear. All 4 pillowcases had stains and one of the bath towels had hair on it. Luckily, I spotted a housekeeping staff down the corridor and she changed all the items for me. Shower stall flooded each time I took a bath and the pooled water was still there more 12 hours later. Soundproofing not great. You can hear when the rooms above use their shower. My room was right next to the service lift, so I could hear machinery every so often as well. Thankfully, things were quiet after 10pm. There's a note saying to be eco friendly and leave towels on the floor if you want them replaced. I put the towel on the rack and it still got replaced.
