Anchorage Motel

Fantastic location on the beach front which was great for an early morning jog along the pathed walkway. Room was super comfortable with all of the amenities needed. Close to town where I needed to charge my car so grabbed a bite to eat at a local pub.

Shower pressure was a little low but that is being very picky.

It was a cold night and the heater took a long time to warm the room. Gentle shower pressure.

Unfortunately my toilet continued to run most of the night. I had to get up and bang it several times before it stopped. Probably needs a washer??

Booked while travelling. Spent two days here and really enjoyed it. Beachfront views over the main road made this special. Really near town on the promenade, walking distance to the museum (which we are sorry we missed - the James Cook / Mercury Bay expedition sounded very interesting) and the quay where the ferry and the cruises depart. Could easily walk into town. We found Whitangia more interesting than Coromandel Town. It had many restaurants within a short distance of the hotel. We tried three - all were good. Some nice tourist souvenir shops in town for last minute presents. Spacious room and has kitchen, couches and outside area. Lovely staff, very welcoming and informative. The hotel has connections to local tourism (tours and restaurants) and had some good recommendations and discounts (we booked the Cavecruzer tour because of their recommendation and really enjoyed it).

The Manager was incredibly welcoming, and the room was as she explained, a lovely old fashioned motel but very clean and comfortable. The 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious, had an extra single bed in the lounge room which suited us perfectly. We looked directly out to the beach from our living area, couldn't ask for a better view. We only spent 1 night here on our way to Cathedral Cove but could have easily spent several days here.

It was clean very local to the restaurants and bars. Just across from the beach. They even provided beach towels.

Clean, comfortable and attractive beach-front accommodation, very conveniently situated near pubs, restaurants and the ferry wharf. Our host was very friendly and helpful.

The place was just realy lovely, and we all found it amazing! Clean and very accomadating with our late check-in 👍🏻

It was a bit expencive for a group of backpackers, but worth it after many weeks of sleeping in hostel dorms.

Located across the road from the beach, the rooms are older looking but are very clean and tidy. Amazing customer service with local knowledge of the area. Bed was comfy and kitchen had all the appliances you need.

The room only comes with a fan, no air conditioning. Water pressure in the shower is low.

Easy to access the room later at night. Staff we're great and friendly. I left my Kindle in the room and they promptly contacted my to retrieve it. Great stay!

This is a clean, comfortable, simple motel n a great location - just opposite the beach and easy walk to restaurants, bars and the town centre. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. We would reccommend this motel.

Location was excellent, beach, shops and everything we needed was in close proximity to the motel. Kay at reception welcomed us warmly. Also like that we could park our car just outside the unit. The unit was clean and amenities well thought of.

It was so nice to be able to enjoy the boat ride. The staff at the accommodation, restaurant, and boat were all so friendly that I want to visit Whitianga again.

The water pressure is extremely weak. Is Whitianga a water-scarce area? Please improve it.

Weak water pressure in the shower

Great location, so close to the beaches and close to the wharf, ferry and eateries on the esplanade. The lady at reception was excellent and very helpful with activity information and things to do. The ferry runs all day and gives you access to Flaxmill and Cooks Beach as well a shuttle that will take you to cathedral cove and hot water beach. Lots of tour operators running water activities and boat trips.

Location was great, nice and central with a superb view. The room was comfy and clean. The bed was very comfy, and it had great parking. Easy to find and very friendly staff.
