Absolutely appalling hospitality – aggressive staff, invasive behavior, and zero empathy. > We are a group of travelers from Taiwan who have lived in New Zealand for nearly a year and stayed in over 50 accommodations across the country. This was, without a doubt, the most uncomfortable and intimidating experience we have ever had. > Here are the factual details of what happened: > * Extremely Rigid & Unwelcoming Check-in Policy: > Because our entire group was sick with colds, we had to cancel part of our day and arrived an hour early. We parked in the empty lot simply to rest in our car until 2:00 PM without asking for an early check-in. However, staff/the owner immediately ran out and repeatedly demanded that we leave the property completely—including the parking lot—forcing sick travelers to drive away and park on the street. > * Invasive & Inappropriate Behavior Regarding Heating: > Outside temperatures were below 10°C, so we turned on the heater. A male staff member stood outside, made an extremely uncomfortable beckoning finger gesture at me, and tried to directly open our locked room door. When I opened it, he lectured us about an unclosed window (which we immediately apologized for and were about to fix). He then demanded to know if our heater was above 22°C, insisting that 22°C was "strong enough," and forced me to adjust it down to 22°C under his watch. Before I could even close the window myself, he reached in from the outside and pushed it shut. Leaving the heater locked at 22°C left the room freezing cold all night. > * Intimidating Check-out Harassment: > Check-out is 10:00 AM. Between 9:45 AM and 9:55 AM—while I was using the bathroom due to my illness—staff knocked on our door twice. The second knock was so loud and aggressive that it genuinely alarmed us, making us feel as though we had committed a serious crime, even though it was still 15 minutes before the official check-out time.

Heat pump sensor system a bit odd.

Great location; spacious, clean and comfortable. Fully equipped for self catering. Very friendly and welcoming owner. Highly recommend.

Manager turned on the heat pump prior to my arrival - much appreciated.

It was a freezing, miserable night. I didn't realize the bed had an electric blanket on it. Would have appreciated being told there was an electric blanket.

The pillows were to fat for me. But that's a personal choice.

Easy to find. Spacious. Clean. Comfy beds. Great shower. Lovely towels. Good heating. Well equipped kitchen. Although on the main road, far enough away not to be disturbed by the traffic.

Someone in the room next to ours was smoking (outside) which we could smell through the closed window. The WiFi kept logging me out.

Excellent location in a great little town, which is well worth a visit on its own. It's hard to find superb older style large size units that are as nicely set up as this motel. We very much enjoyed our stay and appreciated staff assistance fitting us in.

All good. The unit felt recently refurbished and we'd be very happy to use them again.

Little Road noise.

I liked the amount of space. I had a lounge, a full sized kitchen with a full size range, table and chairs and to top it all of I had two bedrooms. And of course a bathroom.

Her name has slipped my mind, but the owner was wonderful. We were running late to check in, I called her and she was very understanding. When we got there she had turned on the heat pump so the room was warm us.

Better lighting in living room, not easy to read while on the sofa. Shower pressure very good but head needs replacing.

Being welcome with a pre judgement that we will be cooking curries just by looking at our ethnicities. Felt like a pre conceived assumption about us because of your bad experience in the past with someone else. The statement could be better worded.

Lovely owners. The place was exactly what we expected for a classic, basic motel.

The single mattresses were extremely soft and not very comfortable to sleep on. But otherwise it was all great!

We were welcomed by owners when they got back to the property. Instructions were left to check in which were clear to follow. Walking distance to go and get a bite to eat. Pet friendly

This was an exceptional unit in this small town, providing a very comfortable stop-over on a long southward journey. With two bedrooms, a comfortable sitting-room, well-appointed kitchen and a good bathroom, the unit felt more like a full house than a motel. We enjoyed our short stay here.
