Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It was fairly clean, and a central location.
Staff interaction was minimal. Room was very basic. 2 mattresses on the floor and a small table. No tea/ coffee facilities. Check out by 9 am
Good location and lively morning prayers
great location and a great price to stay in a real buddist temple
no breakfast included. you can pray with the monks if you wake up at 6am. the bathrooms are just a big inside pool that you have to go in naked. there are no natural onsen
very quiet and peaceful
the staff beside the ladies that welcome us was muted, would have expected a more welcoming experience
No breakfast or food provided
The buckwheat pillows were good for two of our group, not me
Awesome location, friendly staff!
The traditional Japanese rooms. The ambiance. The morning ceremony with the monks.
I was not aware of the curfew when I was standing in front of shut gates at kl.2230. Luckily, a random monk not associated with the monetary helped me back in. The curfew could have been communicated more clearly at check in.
We are absolutely delighted with our stay! We spent 2 days at Zofukuin. We were welcomed by friendly young women who explained everything to us. There is a service at 6:30 AM. The onsen is open from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The room was large, spacious, and had a beautiful view of the garden. Food isn't provided, but there is a restaurant nearby called Ponpoko where you can enjoy excellent dishes in the company of locals. There is also a Family Mart close by. All the staff were incredibly welcoming. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience!
Rien
Great location. The baths were nice and the morning prayers very interesting.
I knew what to expect but the lack of food was difficult since all the restaurants closed so early. There's little to no interaction with staff so if you need help it's hard to find someone.
Location. Traditional design. Quiet. Clean.
Turns out I don’t sleep well on such a thin mattress pad on the floor. I knew what I was getting into and this isn’t a negative against the property. It’s on me.
Zanimivo prenočišče in izkušnja jutranje molitve.
The onsen felt really nice. The futon was nice. The morning prayer that I was able to sit in for was very interesting and impressive.
It's a little plain looking, as expected of a Buddhist temple.
L’emplacement
Authentisch Buddhistisches Kloster.
Kale bedoening.
Ubicación y acceso a lnsen
La habitacion olia mucho a humedad.
The morning prayer
Ubytování v chrámu, přímo v centru Koyasanu, přímo u zastávky busu. Moc hezké tradiční a futonech, k dispozici horká lázeň. Snídani nenabízejí.
Nemám žádný problém.
Central location and great base to explore Koyasan. Morning prayer was fascinating. Lovely room overlooking the small Japanese garden. I had read the review about being in a modern building but this wasn’t the case for us. I think, from what I read when I was there, the rooms with private bathroom are all in the new bit. Shared bathroom rooms are in the old bit. Onsen was lovely. Very clean and overall much more affordable and worth it than some of the temples we stayed at
Nothing to fault with the following expectations which were fine for us: - No food / kettle / microwave (fine for us as the family mart opposite did this for the evening, and we tried the Buddhist vegetarian cuisine at lunch from another restaurant) - bath time only 4-10pm - very limited interaction from staff but polite where there was interaction - feels a bit like you’re the only one there even when you’re not - Japanese style rooms with grain pillows (we actually found these quite comfy!)
The location was great
The picture are deceiving, there’s no chill garden to hangout in or anywhere to go for that matter. Nothing was heated. Theres no kettle available in the room or even coffee or tea available.
The stay was comfortable, the onsen was small but amazing, and the morning prayer was an interesting experience.
It’s advertised as sleeping in a temple, but in reality you sleep in a construction that was added next to it for business purposes. We didn’t have any contact with anyone during our stay there. All the details about the morning prayer were given to us in a QR code. Also, the gardens of the temple were neglected, as if no one stays there anymore.
Falta d’espais comuns. No serveis. Personal zero amable.
Le cadre, le onsen
RAS
Alles!
Alles war super!
Ceremonia muy bueno
Nice, relaximg, calm, friendly staff
This was such a beautiful and special place, the prayer session in the early morning was a beautiful experience.
It was in a great location in Koya town. The surroundings weee peaceful. The morning meditation was also interesting to observe
Nothing much really. Place was cold in the evening. It this was to be expected given location of Koya town within the mountains. There was no meal option either so we had to find dinner ourselves but restaurants were limited after 6pm.
Poranna modlitwa
Bardzo zimno
The location is well positioned in the middle of the Koyasan centre so convenient to see all the attractions. The traditional setting is in tune with the vibe of the Koyasan area.
Breakfast would have been a nice touch but this temple does not provide breakfast.
Great experience, beautiful surroundings and the morning ceremony was unique. The onsen was also amazing. The futons and pillows were nice as well.
Location, shared bathroom/onsen
No food or beverage offering whatsoever. Most other Temple accommodation offer the option of dinner and breakfast.
