Good value, very friendly couple. They can communicate well in English. Everything about the lodgings was good.

Portion sizes for (optional) breakfast and dinner were too small. They do let you have extra rice with dinner, but just bigger portions upfront would've been nice, especially since you're walking all day so you need the energy.

The owner and the staff are so thoughtful and caring, they gave me incredible recommendations that really helped me enjoy and make the most out of my time at Koyasan, and they took very good care of me. The lodge is really cozy and well-managed. Great location as well, it is very close to the cemetery, so really convenient for a night walk to see the lanterns lit up or to see the monks' services in the early morning and midday.

清潔感があり快適に過ごせました。宿泊者がドミトリーで騒ぐこともなく、静寂な宿泊ができました。温度管理も良好でした。 カプセル型のベッドルームもプライバシーが担保され、快適でした。シャワー室は少し狭いけれど、80kg位の体格なら問題ないと思いました。トイレも清潔でした。 近くの広い駐車スペースに車を停めることができたのも便利でした。

ゆっくり考えてみると、こうだったら良かったのに　という改善点はないようです。高級ホテルのロビーやビジネスホテル並みの広さのプラベート空間を求めればそれに応じた価格設定にならざるを得ないことを考慮すれば、人間一人が必要な宿泊施設はこのドミトリーに集約されるのかもしれません。 そういうことに気付かされる宿泊施設だと思いました。 そうですね、温泉の出る地域であれば、近くに公共温泉や露天風呂があったら、本当に文句なしですね。 これは良くなかったということではなく、だったらいいな　というくらいの意味です。 ソファーがあったら嬉しいけれど、その分広いスペースが必要になるので、それは求めてはいけないと思います。

Perfectly nice and clean guesthouse that takes really good care of their guests. The staff sat down with each guest and guided them through the map of the area and what to do and how things work. We got some really good recommendations that made the whole stay so lovely. They were also very generous to us and let us stay and use the facilities after our check-out. This is a guesthouse that makes that extra effort that makes a huge difference for the guests!

A due passi da Okunoin, guesthouse piccola, pulitissima e molto accogliente. Staff gentilissimo e disponibile. Ottima cena e colazione. Capsule comode. Super consigliato per una sosta a Koyasan.

Mignon petit guesthouse très bien placé, à quelques minutes de marche d'une entrée du cimetière. L'hôte nous a donné une carte avec plein de conseils d'activités et de restaurants, il nous a même aidé pour une réservation. Les chambres capsules sont confortables pour leur taille, on ne s'y sent pas à l'étroit. Je recommande !

Il proprietario e l'assistente sono stati molto accoglienti. La struttura è molto pulita e ben tenuta. Inoltre si trova proprio a due passi dall'Oku-no-in. La colazione è stata abbondante e ottima. Letto molto comodo.

La acogida de Ryochi no la he encontrado nunca. Te dedica el tiempo necesario para explicarte cómo organizar tu estancia y sacarle partido al viaje con su bonito mapa que guardaré con mucho cariño. Dormí de maravilla las dos noches que pasé allí, y volvería cada mes.🤣 Un lugar acogedor y un curry excelente!😋 Mil gracias 🙏🤗

The staff is incredibly polite and super sweet, we chatted for a great while, the place is well located with a short 3-4 minute walk from the last bus stop. The inidvidual dorm booths have doors and the property is well maintained, the food was delicious as well

Just a headsup for people booking, nothing bad per se, but just information - The washrooms do not ahve those automatic buttons like you usually find in Japan, plus I couldnt find jet as well, so that was just a bit of surprise since I found them everywhere else but it was fine since the bustop is very nearby and there a lot of really nice, clean, automatic washrooms there. From the price point, it is absolutely worth it.

The curry dinner was amazing and the host is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It is very easy to attend the 6am morning chanting as the hostel is very closed to the Okunoin

到着時にオーナーさんから高野山のことを詳しく教えて頂いて、おかげ様で充実した大変良い旅行になりました。部屋、施設、設備、雰囲気…すべて期待以上でした。ありがとうございました。

ありませんが、しいていえば夕食カレー1800円、朝食1000円がやや高いかな…と。朝食も夕食もめちゃ美味しかったし、この物価高の折、やむを得無いかも…ですが。まあ、嫌なら付けなければ良いだけのことですが。

My stay at Kokuu guesthouse was amazing. From the moment I arrived Mr. Ryochi welcomed me kindly and explained everything and more! The buses I needed to take, the different temples and activities to do, showed me where everything was and I truly appreciated it. The town itself is very small and feels very intimate. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of bigger cities, I wholeheartedly suggest this place. As a spiritual person, I genuinely felt so at peace there and I loved taking part of the various activities offered by the temples. Unfortunately I was there for only 2 nights but would love to come back in the future. There is a quiet eerie vibe in the air, in the best way possible and I was honored to pay my respect and gratefulness to the Buddhist deities🩷 Thank you so much Mr. Ryochi, hope to see you at Kokuu in the future, again...in the meantime I wish you the best🙏🏻

It was super close to the cemetery entrance and the bus stop to get to the rest of town. My friend and I stayed in the double room. It was super comfy and very clean. The breakfast was affordable and very delicious.

The room got a little stuffy, but Japan in August is so hot that humidity is hard to avoid. Maybe having a bit more airflow in the room would have made it a bit more comfy, but it was still great.

Posto molto carino e con personale molto disponibile. Sicuramente il miglior ostello in cui abbiamo pernottato, pulito. Non abbiamo richiesto la colazione ma sembrava buona, viene preparata sul momento.

A wonderful place to stay - great location, clean and comfortable stay with a delicious breakfast and a host who was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone.

昨年に続いてリピートで宿泊させていただきました。 九度山から長石道で登り、翌日は京大坂道で下山。 御廟での朝の御勤めが一番の目的なので、 ロケーションは最高です。 個室を利用したので、ゆっくり体を休めることができました。 オーナーさんの距離感もよく、清潔です。

宿泊客のグループが、遅い時間ではないものの フリースペースで大きな声で話をしていました。 ゲストハウスで音が聞こえやすく、早朝に出発する人もいるので、利用する側も配慮が必要。

It's a lovely place, and the affordable prices allow me to enjoy at the mountain for a longer time:). People here are so helpful! Provided detailed information for everything and helped me deal with my bus ticket booking:)) The bed is also comfortable, I slept well. :))) Recommend:)))))

1 min walk from the bus stop and Okuin Cemetary. Fab architecture and a spacious room with super clean shared bathrooms. The host was super helpful with information and even had their own tourist map with information.

Clean and quiet! The location is super great 👍 it’s close to the Okunoin (the GoByo, the Mausoleum of Kobo Daishi) It’s convenient to attend every morning ceremony in Okunoin. The staff were friendly and provided transportation and travel information. And the breakfast is so good! You must try! I love the Bread 🍞 the Bread tastes like just baked!

Accueil sympathique

The host was welcoming and provided a lot of information about Koyasan during check-in. Both were speaking fluent english and it was easy to communicate. The facility, including the shared shower and toilets, were clean and well maintained. The bed was soft and comfy. The pictures make it look as if there's only a thin mattress on the floor, but there's actually a small cavity in the floor that houses the mattress, making it thick enough for a comfortable sleep. There's also no noise during nighttime, except for the other guests. The capsule room has a little window which can be opened. There were 2 shared toilets and 2 showers for the 8 capsule and 3 normal rooms, which was enough to use them without waiting time. Larger luggage can be stored in the back of the hallway, which can also be used to dry towels. The locations is perfectly situated to take part in the morning ceremony at Okunoin (2min walk to the entrance and then a 10min walk to the starting point) or for hiking the Koya sanzan and womens pilgrimage course. The bus stop is also a 2min walk away. There are some restaurant close by but the nearest konbini is a 30min walk away. However, there's a microwave and a water dispenser for free use at the guesthouse.

とても安価で綺麗で清潔でした。 宿泊後、荷物預かりOK、雨で傘も貸していただけたこともGOOD! スタッフ、宿泊されてた方も皆さん優しく、心地よい時間を過ごせました。

オーナーの案内が的確で、奥の院の生身供と朝のおつとめに参加できて感激でした。 朝ごはんがおしゃれでおいしくて、他の人との出会い、おしゃべりもあり、とてもよかったです。

I loved the place & location! Perfect drop off & pick up from Direct Bus from Kyoto to Koyasan. Also feet away from Okunoin mae side entrance to Cemetery. Ryochi the owner went over important town info upon arrival. The staff was so warm & accommodating. The one bed room was perfect & comfortable. Highly recommend getting the breakfast- it was delicious! Would definitely recommend staying for anyone visiting Koyasan.

Such a lovely place to stay, right near the famous cemetery (must see). The owner gives a detailed overview with map of what to see and do during your visit. The breakfast and curry dinner are both delicious. Highly recommend.

Be aware that some guests may get up around 4.30am and because of the layout it's impossible not to hear them, unless you have great earplugs. But Koyasan is an early to bed, early to rise, kind of place, so it is all in keeping.

I would 100% recommend this place for solo travellers. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he explained all there is to visit and helped me with my train reservation. I felt home and cared for. The common area is very cosy, the bed super comfy, the breakfast delicious 😋 they offer chaï, which is quite rare in Japan and they have roiboos too!! I didn't get to try the curry, but I heard it was delicious.

Very relaxed, intimate atmosphere, and a real good deal for Koya-san. Conveniently close to the eastern bus terminal and the path to Oku-no-in. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Heel fijne en gezellige hostel. Leuk om mensen te ontmoeten. Perfecte locatie bij Okunoin, dus makkelijk om 's ochtends naar de morning prayers te gaan of 's nachts rond de dwalen. Ook fijn dat er avondeten optie is. Ryochi is tevens heel aardig en heeft veel goede tips. Heeft ons ook een lift gegeven naar het startpunt van de Okunoin avondtour. En de hostel lekker warm binnen tijdens de winter!

The hostel was cool - the building itself and the feel. It was comfortable, warm, and relaxing - exactly what you want after a chilly visit to the incredible cemetery nearby. The owner and staff were helpful and approachable, plus the food was a delicious. It is also one of the few affordable places to stay in the area. I loved it!

Erst einmal ein Lob an den Gastgeber, obwohl es ein sehr kleines unscheinbares Haus ist, hat er es sehr clever mit handwerklichen Geschick umgesetzt. Mit viel Licht und Privatsphäre. Er spricht sehr gut Englisch und nimmt sich extra Zeit für den Check in um alles zu erklären mit einer selbst erstellten Karte vom Ort. Eine Bushaltestelle und ein großer Parkplatz ist gleich nebenan, man kann das Dorf gut fußläufig,erkunden. Restaurants gibt es in der Nähe.

The guesthouse is beautiful, clean and very cozy. Our host Ryochi was very friendly and gave us plenty of valuable recommendations to enjoy Koyasan as much as we could. And the location is perfect, literally a few meters away from the entrance of the cementery that leads to the Mausoleum. Beds are comfortable, the showers and toilets are always clean, and there's coffee/tea and a microwave in the common area for guests to use. I would definitely come back to Kokuu.
