Mt Albert Motor Lodge

We've been in Auckland 3 weeks. Hotel, motel hopping due to finances. This was our last stay at the end of the 3 weeks. And now will be our home every trip to mount albert . It's close to shops and train Our children live near so easy to get to there house. The pool in summer will be nice for a swim. The bond isn't taken from you as payment and returned in 5 days like some have said in reviews. I read reviews and because of them, i thought I couldn't afford to loose $300 from them keeping money, while we stayed. So we didnt choose here 1st. This isn't the case! They dont keep and hold your actual money!!!

That i didn't phone them and clarify some questions about deposit at the start of the 3 weeks. If I'd rang them at the start, and not interpreted the bond in my own way .. we wouldn't of stayed other places.

Has all we needed. Close to all shops. On site cafe. Free on-site parking.

Loved that you had a black out solution to the Venetian blinds in room. For those of us who cant sleep with lights shining. The way you'd made the curtain with magnets was thoughtful. It was obvious people have highlighted this as a issue for them. And you've done your best to find something that works. I loved the teapot in kitchen . And that you gave a good sized milk! Not those annoying little packet casual milks. Good little compact unit. Had all we needed to stay and sleep at night. We were busy via daytimes. Cafe on-site was good when we had guests from airport for a day . Our room was to small to host 4 adults. So Cafe for lunch and coffee worked well for us to kill time, before dropping back to airport . We walked around and got Thai for dinner, was beautiful. We also walked to the spca op shop, around the corner, great store. Went to a supperette for a drink and lollies. Shops all very accessible. Train station right there. But not noisy in motel. I added a extra night and they allowed for me to stay in same room which meant no packing up.

That the Cafe and the motel have shared parking. With no systems or allocations for Just Cafe or just motel. You can park where you like. If the motel was at capacity this would be really annoying. We got blocked in by a Cafe patron who parked behind us. I had to go to Cafe and find the owner and ask them to come and move so we could leave. Minor inconvenience. Was moved with no problems. You need to learn to shower fast lol. Not my superpower! I ran out of hot water. Each unit has own hot water system. It is advertised in bathroom as a notice that you need spacing between usage. But it doesn't state its a 5 min type of capacity. Ladies get your hair washed and legs shaved fast! Before you do it cold. Didn't make me not like room, my habits need to speed up.

Location was good , just wish the shower had a light for people showering at night and the shower was a bit low so taller people would have a hard time washing hair etc

The managers were so lovely! They made sure our room was warm & easy to get into as we arrived late after being stuck in the rain with a baby. Our room was great, comfy beds. I loved the kitchen facility in our room! Made meals super easy!

As expected for a motel, the room was very clean and tidy, nice having the milk in the fridge and basic amenities. Staff was very pleasant to deal with.

Bathroom was probably the biggest let down, no extractor fan in the room and the water pressure was poor, also it felt like you were going to fall through the shower box every time you moved in it.

Rooms are being renovated, so it will be even better when completed.

Location was awesome - so close to the train which made it easy to get to the ALL Blacks game. Staff/owner was very friendly and helpful. Carparking was jammed in due to fully booked due to All Blacks game but owner made it work very well. Easy walk to main street with lots of dinner/takeaway options for quick easy meal.

Rooms were a little small but it was actually ok as we weren't staying long. They still had everything we needed.

Quiet but just a stones throw from the frequent rail system or buses. Also plenty of food places nearby. Room had everything we needed for short stay

We were delighted with the size of the unit, having enough space for us, the little kitchenette, it was a great living space for our weekend, somewhere to retreat to. I loved the aesthetic of the whole place, it is a bit retro but really cool styles. Our daughter thought it felt like a Barbie house - the pink doors I think. The staff were great when we needed them and otherwise very discrete or going out their work efficiently. Lovely.

Having a hot chocolate sachet option in the kitchen - for the kids and adults who enjoy that.

Price. Also location was perfect for us to catch up with nearby family. Motel was very accommodating letting us park and check in early. Also didn’t use this time but very convenient to train station to get into city.

The room was a little on tired side. Could do with refresh and/or modernisation.

Lovely welcoming lady. Basic accommodation but everything is needed. Comfortable bed..good shower

Just had some noisy transport teams. But what they were happy

We stayed for the night as we went to the rugby. The gentleman was so lovely and was extremely helpful in giving info on the best way to reach eden park. I ddnt realise how close we where to the train station. Room was very clean. We both had a great sleep and close to cafes, trains ect. Great view of the sky tower too. We will be back.

Door between lounge and bedroom hard to shut but not a big issue.

No hot water at 745 when showered. Everything slightly grimy and tired looking - heating was a plug in oil heater

Didn’t know there was breakfast, came through booking.com. Great location, friendly staff, clean facility, nice and inviting stay

It was close to where we needed to be. The unit was very clean and it has a great cafe on site.

There aren’t many carparks, some of which are difficult to get in and out of. The shower in the unit could do with a refurbish.

We loved how close we were to everything we needed, loved the daily housekeeping and the free use of the laundry, and the fact there was a cafe on site too. Plus we were upgraded to an upstairs room which gave us an amazing view of the sky tower

Outdated. Not very good heating. Beds were hard. Having a timer on the shower wasn’t good. Sofa bed was marked. Not value for money. Pretty cold. Coffee cups need to be bigger

My parent and uncle were at first put in a room not so easy to access. The team were very accommodating and quickly moved them to a better suited room

Just some safety concerns for elders wanting to stay otherwise was very handy for what we needed.

The shower was a bit old and the floor felt like i was gonna fall through the floor, it was so unsafe.

I like the location. It’s next to the train station and convenient stores. Moreover, the spacious rooms of 2 bedroom studio is is comfortable for travellers more than 2. The way the rooms are separated is good for privacy. It’s worth every buck spent on the property.

The carpet in the bedroom smells musty. Some days, the cleaning staff didn’t make the beds properly.

The location- the cafe-the greenery- lots of parking.

The rooms were tired- bathroom and kitchen outdated - toaster didn't work- shower not very hot and floor of shower bumpy.

The room started smelling mouldy and musty as you enter, then it’s extremely hot. Also your neighbors were the a bunch of party boys that are yelling and screaming all night !!

The pool

It was run down and just felt gross. The bathroom especially, cabinetry and shower was yuck. Carpets old, stained. Bed felt crusty and linen was damp. Made me feel itchy. I'd rather stay somewhere nicer for the price.

Was a good location although having the train track right beside was noisy for sleeping Pool was great, laundry facilities excellent

Could have used a sieve and bigger pot for cooking, noise from trains early hours of the morning

We were on the top floor and the outside light is incredibly bright and stayed on throughout the night. We had to place a blanket across the top of the window to try and have a dark room to sleep in

There was a light right outside our unit which was on until after 11 pm. The blinds on the window facing the light would not close properly, the light shone through the gaps in the slats, as people walked past the window they were able to see straight into the bedroom. I could see them clearly and when we went outside to look in, we were visible to those looking in. There was no air conditioning. The fan provided was old and noisy and kept us awake all night, but was too hot to not have it on. We only stayed the one night, and advised the person at reception that we were leaving and why. We would like that night refunded. I'm undergoing cancer treatment - chemotherapy, I hardly slept and it was not a good start to a much anticipated/expensive weekend away.

The location is ideal if you want to drive to Auckland and back. There is also plenty of parking available. Otherwise, park on the side street.

At the Chinese-run motel, the cleaning staff start work very early (around 6:30 a.m.), making it very lively with doors slamming. The beds are, to put it simply, a disaster.

It was clean & roomy. Lovely pool.

It was very clean and tidy and clisd to thd train station for easy transport. Plus there was a Cafe on the premises.
