Mama O Chai Koh Tao

I had already stayed at Mama O Chai before and absolutely loved the location, so this year I decided to come back. I was more than pleasantly surprised! Since my last stay, the owner has changed and Latt is now taking care of the property. You can really see how much effort and investment he is putting into improving the place. Several of the bungalows are currently being renovated, and even the bungalow I stayed in last year has been upgraded, including new mattresses. Another great improvement is that you can now rent a scooter directly from the property, which makes everything so much easier. Last year, scooters were rented through a third party, and especially returning the scooter was quite a hassle. Having everything directly on site now is so much more convenient. Overall, I can definitely say that I’ll be coming back again next year, and I’m already looking forward to it! Thank you so much, Latt, for the wonderful hospitality and for making my stay so enjoyable. See you next year! 😊

The only thing I personally missed in the bungalow was a small dresser, shelf, or some other space where I could put my clothes.

Tropical sand beach with coconut trees. Perfect picture. Front line bungalows. Very friendly stuff, always ready to help. This was perfect beach holiday. Plus excellent connection to local bars, shops and restaurants, fire show on the beach every evening in nearby bar.

Everething was excellent. Advice - if you want deeper water and more than just send and trees - use taxi boats.

Posizione, eravamo praticamente in spiaggia.

Le lenzuola, non mi sono sembrate pulite. C’era solo il copri materasso, non c’era il lenzuolo di sopra, solo una copertina a parte. C’era 1 solo asciugamano grande a testa, potevi richiederne uno piccolo extra alla reception.

Bungalow magnifique les pieds dans l'eau, pas de clim mais tellement agréable d'être sur la plage ! et accés à plein de restaurant très facilement :) le gérant est très très gentil et super accessible !

Unser Bungalow war direkt am Strand. Es gab ein großes Bett und einen Kühlschrank. Klimaanlage funktionierte gut. Es war am ruhigeren Strandabschnitt aber nur wenige Gehminuten in den Ort mit vielen Geschäften und Gastronomie. Morgens krähten die Hähne. Das war schön! Für ein paar Nächte auf Koh Tao war es vollkommen ausreichend!

Einige Dinge wie die Fliegengittertür waren etwas defekt und mit Klebeband provisorisch repariert. Aus der Dusche kam tagsüber oft wenig Wasser. Das Schloss der Tür war nur ein Umhängeschloss, das sehr schlecht auf-und zuzuschließen war. Die gesamte Anlage wirkte etwas renovierungsbedürftig.

extrem sauber, die Handtücher und Betteäsche haben supergut gerochen! Bungalow 1. Reihe mit Blicknaufs Meer und guter Brise. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit

Die Hähne haben ab 6 Uhr alle geweckt :) Strom und Wasserausfälle waren an der Tagesordnung. WLAN nicht wirklich vorhanden

La localización

Teniamos una reserva para 4 noches de las cuales solo pudimos hacer dos, debido a las deficientes condiciones del alojamiento, que nos obligaron a abandonarlo antes de la fecha prevista. Durante nuestra estancia encontramos numerosos problemas que hicieron imposible continuar alojados allí: * El aire acondicionado de una de las habitaciones dejó de funcionar porque el mando se quedó sin pilas desde el primer día, y el de la otra habitación tampoco funcionaba correctamente. * A las 4:00 de la madrugada, uno de los ventiladores se rompió, comenzó a hacer un ruido muy fuerte y nos impidió descansar el resto de la noche. * Las ventanas no cerraban correctamente. * Las mosquiteras estaban llenas de polvo y tampoco cerraban bien. * Algunas ventanas estaban sujetas con cinta adhesiva. * El techo también estaba reparado con cinta adhesiva y varios paneles estaban descolocados, dejando aberturas por las que incluso vimos asomar la cabeza de un lagarto de gran tamaño. * El desagüe del baño era simplemente un agujero en la pared. * Al ducharnos, el agua se acumulaba junto al lavabo, inundando esa zona y dificultando el acceso al baño, ya que no disponíamos de ningún utensilio para secar el agua. * Las instalaciones exteriores presentaban un estado general de falta de limpieza y mantenimiento. * La limpieza de las habitaciones era claramente insuficiente. * No había ningún mueble o soporte donde poder colocar las maletas.

Todo el resto. Muy sucio tanto dentro como fuera del bungalow, con moho y humedades por todas las paredes( hice fotos para denunciar en booking esta situacion). Puertas y ventanas que no cierran, baldosas y juntas de pared y techo unidas por cinta adhesiva. El recepcionista daba miedo, se nos quedo mirando 10 segundos con mirada de odio

We had an amazing stay at Mama O Chai Koh Tao! This place has such a unique and relaxing vibe that you immediately feel at home. The location is absolutely perfect, right on the beach, so you can wake up to the sound of the waves and enjoy stunning sea views all day long. Everything was beautiful, clean, and full of character. The atmosphere is peaceful, authentic, and unlike any other place we stayed during our trip. The staff were very friendly and made us feel truly welcome. If you’re looking for a unique beachfront experience in Koh Tao, I can highly recommend Mama O Chai. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to the island. WE LOVED IT HERE!! Owner was very accomodating and so kind to us! Helped me out whenever I needed it! Renting bikes was great too, cheap and he’s not stingy at all!

Hij hebben bewust gekozen voor een rustige omgeving. Niet bij het uitgaan gedeelte. En dat bakte goed uit. Geen last van muziek of ander lawaai.

We hadden een kakkerlaknest achter de plint. de eigenaar kwam met een insectenspray maar de kakkerlakken hadden zicht waarschijnlijk verplaatst naar een andere plek achter de plint. Elke avond/nacht hoorden we de kakkerlakken en vonden we de kakkerlakken tussen onze spullen. De plafonds zijn een beetje smoezelig. Her en daar zit wat duct tape en zien er niet fris uit met vlekken. Dit was in meerdere hutjes het geval.

I could live the bungalow life I was craving for, right in front of the beach. Nothing was missing, clean and comfortable for the price. The guy working there was very nice, and helped me find a scooter and laundry. Thank you!

Mama O'Chai exceeded my expectations! Sure, the bungalows are rustic and basic... but I was impressed by the hot showers, working fridge, good internet, and provided kettle, cups, bowl, plate, cutlery and coffee.... I used it all! Even though I just got a standard bungalow with fan, I was in the second row behind the beachfront ones and had a great view of the beach from my balcony (bungalow 21). The beach out front is beautiful and there's great snorkeling around the rocks at the north end of the beach, swimmable from right in front of the bungalow. 5 min walk down the beach to "town" and everything you need.

There happened to be a very loud concert right behind the property on my first night there, but this isn't common and not the properties fault.

Posizione fenomenale, a nord di Sairee, abbastanza distante da non sentire il casino, ma vicinissima a piedi per raggiungere tutti i bar e ristoranti. Bungalow sulla spiaggia, molto esotici.

Sveglia mattutina non richiesta con Gallo canterino a tutte le ore 😂. Bungalow stesso molto basic - ma come ci si può aspettare, nessuna brutta sorpresa, molto fair col prezzo. Reception un po’ nascosta da trovare!

Location is amazing, right on a beautiful beach, and only few minutes walk from the main streets (3-4 mins on the beach or via the road) The manager is super nice, friendly and helped us with all we needed to book The staff is super reactive, my room had trouble locking from the inside they came immediately and fixed it and then it worked perfectly The rooms are a little old but it was clean, aircon works well, had hot water

The WiFi did not work for me, but as I had unlimited 4g I did jot bother to go ask so maybe it was working 😊

Fantastische Lage, direkt ein paar Schritte entfernt von der Strandpromenade und dem Meer.

Mangelnde Hygienebedingungen in den Augen meiner Freundin. Braune Fußabdrücke am Boden bei Ankunft und Schimmel an der Badezimmerdecke. Bungalow wirkte Stubenrein (gefegt), aber nicht unbedingt geputzt.

I stayed in B5 the last row. “ with some sea views “ The room was full full of mosquitoes , so much so that I need to buy the mosquito electric bat.

Lokacija je super. Hiške so tik ob plaži. Osebje je zelo prijazno.

Hiška razpada. Stvari so polomljene, obrabljene, plesnive. V hiški in kopalnici je temno kljub prižgani luči. V kopalnici smrdi po vlagi in plesni. Dobila sem strgano brisačo. Med daljšim bivanjem ne čistijo. Wifi večino časa ne dela. Postelja obupno trda. Zjutraj je bujenje s kikirikanjem, ker je okrog hišk ogromno kokoši in petelinov.

Is so close to the beach.

The location is wonderful. The area of the beach is very peaceful, without lots of people walking through, and I loved hearing the cockerels. You are also able to rent a moped from the bungalow for a good price, and the area is quiet at night. Towels are supplied. A big fridge is provided, but I would question its use if power outages are frequent.

It is very basic and without hot water in the shower. Having hot water would make a huge difference to enable you to get the sticky sand off and rather than having to “endure” the shower. When we first arrived, the electricity was down, so we couldn’t settle into the bungalow as it was too hot, but we didn’t experience that again whilst there. It is terribly basic, and you have to close your eyes to the condition of the bathroom and the mould on the curtains.

Lo que más nos gustó fue su ubicación. Justo en frente de la playa, se oyen de noche las olas. Además está casi al final donde ya no hay bares por lo que apenas se oye la música por la noche, cosa que en otras zonas de la playa sería imposible dormir hasta que cierren los bares. El personal ha sido muy atento, nos dieron antes de la hora la habitación. Tienen servicio de taxi al mismo precio que en toda la isla, aunque es bastante caro ahora mismo debido a las dificultades que están teniendo con la gasolina. Un desplazamiento de 6 minutos son aproximadamente 10 euros (por ejemplo del Puerto al hotel). La cabaña es muy simple, sin lujos, para dormir y disfrutar de su terracita frente al mar con unas vistas impresionantes. Las sábanas y toallas estaba n limpias. El aire acondicionado funcionaba perfectamente. Tenía gel gratuito y un par de botellas de agua a nuestra llegada, así como café para un día y kettle. Repetiría sin duda.

Etablissement surcoté. J'avais réservé un bungalow vue mer et j'ai eu un bungalow à l'arrière, sans vue mer, sans possibilité de changer. Les environs sont sales et non entretenus, des poules courent partout, vous serez réveillés par les 5 ou 6 coqs qui chantent à 5h du matin à côté de votre lit. Oubliez d'aller jusqu'à la plage à pieds nus ! Les bungalows sont équipés de moustiquaires et de volets mais pas de vitrages. Le wifi, ne fonctionne pas... La chasse d'eau ne fonctionnait pas non plus... Pour le même prix, vous avez une chambre propre avec AC et confortable au Ban's Diving Resort à proximité des bars et restaurants. Juste un exemple parmi d'autres.

Schöne Lage direkt am Strand. Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten auch fußläufig erreichbar. Nettes Personal.

Die Häuschen sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber für den Preis absolut zufriedenstellend. Würde ich erneut buchen.

The Host Latt went above and beyond for us. Easy scooter rental (no deposit etc.) and good communication with our host via messages and whatsapp. We left a phone at the Apartment unfortunately and Latt promptly hopped on his scooter to deliver it to us at the pier 10 minutes before our ferry left.🙏

Kylpyhuone lainehti suihkun jälkeen. Wifi melkolailla hyödytön.

Super Lage, es ist wohl ehr ein Ferienhaus es kommt keine Reinigung es ist ein Besen vorhanden womit man den Sand raus kehren kann, den Müll stellt man raus dann wird er abgeholt. Aber uns hat es nicht gestört. Wir wollen nochmals wieder kommen

Das freundliche Personal hilft einem immer weiter, transfer sowie Roller können sich direkt vor Ort ausgeliehen werden. Die Strandnähe ist natürlich auch wunderschön. Im Häuschen sind überall Mückennetze, sogar an der Tür.

Niestety po tym jak zobaczyłem domek postanowiłem nie zostawać tam. Zdjęcia na booking nie oddają faktycznego stanu. Domek malutki 2,5m x 3m plus łazienka malutka. Woda z umywalki spływała pod domek ( nie była podłączona do kanalizacji). Można było poczuć klaustrofobię. W domku brzydko pachniało, Dziury w podłodze na przewylot, dziury między dachem a ścianami. 40 stopni celsjusza w domku. Wiatrak kierowany na łóżko , za klimatyzację dodatkową opłatą 200 bth/ dzień. Materac położony na ceracie. Kołdra nawet nie miała pościeli. Domek zamykany na kłódkę. Właściciel mówił, że za taką cenę to nie ma co szukać luksusów - ale wg mnie to były spartańskie warunki. Kury i koguty chodzą wokół domków. Można by było wymieniać i wymieniać te przykre rzeczy. Pralnia zrobiona w starej wiacie obok domków. Pościel suszona na sznurkach. Woda z pralek wypuszczana była na zewnątrz. Nie mam pojęcia skąd oceną tego pokoju 7,8 bo wg. Mnie nie dałbym nawet 3. Jedyny plus to bliskość plaży!

Za 300bth/ za dobę znalazłem obok miejsce gdzie nie było tych wszystkich przykrych rzeczy i było czysto , klimatyzacja za free, żadnych dziur, duże wygodne łóżko. Trudno przepadło trochę pieniędzy bo właściciel ustawił brak możliwości rezygnacji. Pieniądze przepadają ale nie usnął bym w takich warunkach

La ubicación, tenía un bungalow justo en frente del mar y es una zona donde la calma y la tranquilidad te invade, el personal es atento y te sientes como en familia. Reserve 5 noches y amplié otras 5 más… no me hubiera ido de allí…

El mobiliario del bungalow es extremadamente sencillo y algo anticuado pero una vez te instalas y lo haces tuyo pasas a sentirte cómodo. Hay nevera, aire acondicionado, una cama grande… al final estás en Tailandia y esa sencillez es parte del encanto. Lo que más eche de menos es que hubiera algo tipo armario para colgar o colocar la ropa pero me dejaron una mesa de madera y ahí pude colocarla y me apañé pero estaría bien poner algún mueble tipo armario para poder colgar la ropa en perchas y modernizar un poco las sábanas y las toallas
