the location an outlook were amazing, and great value for money. the room was spacious.

The Lockwood style of cabin is nice and the view is also nice

It was quite cold even with the heaters on. Also the bathroom appeared to be mouldy which I have photos of - there was no bathroom fan to dry the room out really

We loved our little cottage!! I’d really recommend upgrading to these. It’s so close but yet so private. It has everything you need and an incredible view. I think ‘motel’ isn’t the right word for this cottage though, it feels like a boutique escape really! Seamless checkin too!

Beautiful rooms, secluded but easy to find. Loved the checkin process. Close to beach, attractions, and resturants.

Good size room with a nice view onto native bush. Good having cooking rings to prepare a meal. Nice hot water and shower. Self-check in was easy and quick. We liked the timber building and the feeling of being in the bush. Good having a balcony although it was raining too much to use it. Good location as a stopover before heading over the pass.

It would be helpful to have another spare blanket - there were two beds but only one extra blanket. It was cold and wet throughout our visit - some form of extra heating apart from the wall panel would have been nice. Other helpful items to have available would be a dish brush, scissors, face cloths, kitchen hand towel and kitchen tongs

Grt location -advertises sea view but the bushes need to be trimmed down to enable this sea view so disappointed

Not having a sea view whilst relaxing in the lounge. Can’t comment on staff either as saw none.

We wanted to stay in Punakaiki and this site allowed us to stay without breaking the budget. Good sized room and handy top the Pancake Rocks

Due to the high-pitched ceiling the ceiling and windows on the high western side had multiple cobwebs. Room had a wonderful deck area but sadly no real views except of bush. If you want ocean views make sure you ask.

Vétuste notamment la salle de bains peu agréable et pas du tout pratique. Très petite, rien pour poser ses affaires. Aurait besoin d’une rénovation (Bush Cottage) Ce bungalow n’a pas du tout de vue contrairement aux autres.

Het huisje was gedateerd en rook een beetje naar natte hond. Het oogde verder allemaal wel schoon.

Stunning view in bush surroundings. 2 bed unit spacious for the 4 of us.

The ratings on this website did not prepare us for how grubby & tired this unit was. It is “off-season”, mid-winter so maybe they are due a repaint, but the first thing I saw walking in was oily wipe marks left on the stove, then all the scuff marks on the walls & ceilings. Food smooch on the wall & sofa too. Bathroom was clean but shower drain cover floated around while you were in there. Sheets came off the single beds as soon as you moved showing no mattress protectors and the extra blanket smelled of someone else’s dinner. We rolled up the rug in the lounge area because it looked so grubby. I note the owners were not there but others covering for them- obviously not good enough substitutes.

Not as clean as we'd expect, no salt & pepper, very little coffee & no supplies for plunger. Had to replace batteries in tv remote.

Do not follow Google Maps. It took us to a place 37 km away, and we ended up driving on winding mountain roads for two hours round trip, only finding the correct location after it got dark.

What a gem! For the price you pay, it doesn't get better than this. We stayed 2 nights in early winter and were the only ones there. The self check in is much more simple than some previous reviews made it seem - we loved how easy it was. The room itself was spacious with an amazing view onto native bush just out off the deck. We were also lucky enough to get a small but nice view of the sea from the side window too, as we were in the end unit. Everything was clean and functional. The kitchen is pretty basic but needed for a Punakaiki stay as food options are limited, even more so in winter. The bed was comfy. The location was good, we were surrounded by beautiful bush and even though its near the main road, there wasn't much traffic noise. It rained the whole time we were there but this would be an amazing place to spend a sunny day with decks off each of the studios and a separate deck for all guests to use overlooking the sea.

No major complaints really. Our room was very cold and even with the two heaters running we couldn't really get the room to hold any heat once the sun went down. But the bed was super cosy with electric blankets and we soon found ourselves too warm! If you are planning to spend a lot of time in the room, on a rainy winter day then you might be more bothered by this but for us it was not a big deal.

Das Hotel liegt unweit der Pancake Rocks und nahe zum Meer. - Schlüssel holt man sich an der Rezeption ab (kein Mensch da). Parkplatz direkt vor dem Zimmer. - Großes Zimmer mit ordentlichem Bad und separater Toilette. - Gute Betten. - Alles sauber und gepflegt. Kleine Küche mit Kocher für Tee. - Sehr ruhig gelegen. - Gutes PReis-Leistungsverhätnis.

Leider sehr unpersönlich, man sieht keinen Menschen bei der An- oder Abfahrt.

Great location with comfortable beds and modern fittings

The bathroom smelled extremely musty which I put down to it being a Lockwood building with no extractor fan or heat in the bathroom. I did notice the carpet felt damp in the morning after a night of rain also.

Great location, easy drive to Punakaiki and great views from the deck. Despite being close to the main road, we didn't hear any road noise.

Water pressure wasnt the strongest

Im Herbst war es in dem Raum recht kühl. Zum Glück war das große Bett mit elektrischen Heizdecken ausgestattet. So wurde es zusammen mit den Heizkörpern sehr schnell sehr kuschelig.

Laut Zimmerbeschreibung sollte es eine elektrische Grillpfanne anstelle einer mobilen Herdplatte geben. Stattdessen gab es 2 Herdplatten, aber weder Pfanne noch Topf. Es gab also keine Möglichkeit, sich etwas zu essen zu kochen. Das war etwas unglücklich.

Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür. Super Aussicht,.schöner Garten . Tolle Einrichtung und großzügig.

Lovely location and wonderful room (unit 3). Great scenery from the balcony, not the beach, but a wonderful forest of trees and bushes, a lovely aspect. The room is beautiful with it’s log cabin feel. Huge room and in particular large bathroom. Motel is not close to any facilities, but most travellers would have a car, so it’s a short drive to a choice of two pubs. Very enjoyable and comfortable for a one night stay, but certainly ideal for longer stays. The absence of bright external lighting makes for a good night sleep.

Everything was spectacular! The location was exceptional. The view was unbelievable. The price was so reasonable. The wood siding was gorgeous. We were blown away and wished we could have stayed much longer.

Perfect location to walk to after the Paparoa Track. Self checking in. No staff on site but MOB for any issues.

My only suggestion would be better grounds lighting for those arriving after sunset. We could hardly find our way around or read building signs. Needed a flashlight.

The shower head could be higher for taller guests

Loved the view of the bush from balcony, it felt really quiet and private too. The table at the deck further out from the studios had a lovely view of the beach and rocks! Heaters & body wash + shampoo were appreciated! The place was in a great spot to easily drive down to the pancake rocks and township area too.

Bugs! Couple of dead bugs on the nice freshly made bed was a bit rough (we know it's hard to avoid them being there at all when it's such a bug-friendly environment there) & huge spider + web right outside our room made it tricky to access the car. Also would recommend a couple more of the great coat rack that's in the bathroom for the entrance way - there wasn't many places to hang things other than the 2 hangers in the wardrobe, but heaps of good space to put some hooks up!

Motel très propre , petit bungalow dans la nature à deux pas des Pankakes Rock et des sentiers de randonnée .pas besoin d’utiliser la voiture la végétation autour est surprenante et le bord de mer est grandiose , Nous y avons passé deux nuits , très calmes avec juste le bruit de la mer Très bon rapport qualité prix , je recommande cet établissement .

The room we stayed in was disappointing. The chair fabric was worn, the bathroom mirror cracked, front door glass broken and there was rust on the fridge door.

Lovely stay, the room was well kitted and clean and very comfortable. This was a great gem in Punakaiki, I'd definitely book again.

A very beautiful place to stay - fabulous facilities

Having two beds was great. Electric blankets were a bonus. This unit was a great size with plenty of easy parking.

Self check in was easy but it meant we didn't see any staff at all, maybe that was OK and very good business sense on their part. The bathroom sink had a terrible stain on it, which wasn't nice so a little note apologizing for that would have gone a long way. The ceilings were very high, with some very high windows without curtains, so would have suited stargazers!

Shower pressure was terrible, the set up with the bathroom and toilet all in together was not ideal for 4 people. No tea towel, and coffee plunger provided but no coffee to go with it.

The room was a very good size and positioned well for the views of Punakaiki. It's a shame there is no walkway to access the punakaiki area and facilities.

A suggestion is to have a larger fridge in the unit as we brought food for the 2 day stay as the area has little in the way of eatery and no store.

Es dürfte etwas mehr auf Sauberkeit geschaut werden. Bad stinkt und überall Spinnenweben. Die Küchenutensilien mussten alle nochmal gewaschen werden.

The bedding, cheap synthetic sheets and lumpy duvet, limited cutlery and crockery, no face cloths, no plug for bathroom sink - little things that matter.
