Anchorage 42

The Anchorage is a wonderful place to stay. Luxurious and extremely comfortable it is a gem! This is our second stay we would not hesitate to stay again.Highly recommend.

Big well appointed rooms, easy access, parking for car, courteous staff and great collection of artifacts. Rooms, linen, upkeep, all good and upto the mark.

Wonderful staff. Breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed visiting with the owner and the other guests. The place is amazing with intriguing art and furniture everywhere. We felt completely comfortable and at home. Highly recommended.

Ein wunderschönes Anwesen im typischen Chandigarh-Stil, das teilweise als Unterkunft dient. Die Gastgeber sind unheimlich nett und bemüht sowie flexibel mit "Sonderwünschen". Hier kann man lange verweilen und sich einfach mal erholen.

Das Bett ist ein Stück älterer Bauart und wirkt nicht ganz so robust. Man schläft aber richtig gut darin. Grundsätzlich muss man aufgrund der Bauweise höllisch aufpassen, dass man sich keine Mücken ins Zimmer holt.

Hébergement exceptionnel, proprietaire et personnel aux petits soins. Très bon petit déjeuner. Situation dans un beau district, très calme..

Les premiers restaurants sont assez loin à pied. Les moins marcheurs d'entre nous doivent prendre un rickshaw. Idem pour les points d'intérêt principaux de Chandigarh.

This is a beautiful propoerty tucked into one of Chandigarh's most coveted central neighbourhoods. The rooms are furnished with vintage pieces and artwork sourced from around the world, closer to a private art museum than a hotel room. The host is exceptionally warm and welcoming. And do not leave without lingering over breakfast - the conversations are half the experience.

This was one of the best stays of my life. The property Anchorage 42 is just awesome - It’s decorated with so much vintage stuff that it feels like you have stepped into a museum. The property is also spotlessly clean and the service is top notch. And the host is so helpful. He joins you for breakfast everyday and you end up having a nice and hearty conversation.

Excellent location.The host was very welcoming and joined us for breakfast for casual chit chat. Home made breakfast was excellent and not the usual hotel food. We got to savour the special punjab white butter with parathas. It was less of a hotel and more of a home stay and small museum with so many paintings and artefacts. Everything was taken care of immediately by the staff Ritika and Roshan . We enjoyed the morning tea in the cozy common balcony. Definitely recommended if you want to make your stay in Chandigarh extra special.

Der sehr hilfsbereite Hausherr nahm sich beim Frühstück bewusst Zeit, um sich mit uns und den Gästen auszutauschen. Die Gespräche gaben uns Einblicke in gesellschaftliche und politische Themen Indiens. Auch konnten uns die anderen Gäste mit wertvollen Ratschlägen zu alltäglichen Fragen behilflich sein. Die Lage der Unterkunft liegt unweit des Regierunskomplexes (kostenlose Führungen, sehenswert!) ist außerdem geeignet für eine frühmorgendliche Jogging Runde um den Sukhana Lake (ca. 8,5 km).

Location was fabulous. The place was very inviting, lush green surroundings. Owners had displayed their amazing vintage collection of artefacts and art.

There was an unpleasant smell in our room, probably from some faulty plumbing in the toilet

i had 2 separate bookings and they cancelled the first booking 24 hours prior and blamed Booking.com for the transaction. Mr Anish the manager was not helpful at all and said booking charges my card - whereas the property charged my card the day we checked out. SO they played a tricky game of blaming Booking.com. So just watch out- your booking may just get cancelled without any prior intimation

Très jolie maison dans le Secteur 8, idéalement située car proche des endroits d'intérêt (Capitol Complex, Rock Garden, Lake) et des cafés ou restaurants. Notre chambre donnait sur un petit balcon, au calme. Tout était impeccablement propre et entretenu avec soin. La literie était ferme mais confortable, le petit déjeuner copieux. Le propriétaire Dhan est charmant et on se sent bien à Anchorage 42.

A gorgeous home conveniently situated near the lake. Anchorage 42 offers everything a weary traveller could ask for- spacious room with supremely comfortable bed, tastefully furnished and decorated with art from the owner’s collection. Staff were courteous and helpful, and though fairly simple the breakfast was fresh and delicious.

I loved the pictures of the house and rooms, but in real life everything is even better! If you like art, style and tropical touch, this is a place for you! The room and bathroom, both are perfectly clean. In the morning you eat a very good breakfest in a lounge together with the owner and other guests and there is a space for a nice conversation.

In this case I have really nothing to criticize. Well maybe the only thing is, that all the beds are with the wooden forehead, so if you are 2 m tall, it can be a problem.

Fascinating property with interesting story of owner who is also a great host. Very spacious and relaxing environment.

Stunning house, it’s like staying in an art gallery. Dan is very personable and helpful to book train tickets and advise where to visit. Great breakfast too.

The breakfast was sumptuous and getting to know about how the place was put together by Dan was interesting.

Staff was very kind and friendly specially roshan,parkash and ritika was great too. Every little thing was taken care of.

Everthing was great until owner’s egoistic relative or may be his son asked us to take our car outside his house because “he lives here” (his words) and park it on road. They should mention about less parking space or maybe don’t charge for parking. (Sorry dan)

Home to home and would be coming here again . i think Taj hotel in sector 17 has lost a guest after 20 years

Breakfast was very good. Staff were helpful. The property was in an excellent state of repair having been opened only a few years ago.

Bed was on the hard side even though they provided a mattress topper. Location not the easiest, sometimes taxis struggled to find the destination. Uber is useful as you specify the destination on a map when you order the cab.

The quiet location and good atmosphere of the house

Overall, the place is very good. You should understand what to expect. The whole villa is an old style building with old style room, all decorated as it was many years ago... That's fun. The elevator is modern. The room was spacious, all worked well - hot water, A/C, lights - you just need to figure out how to operate. The staff was friendly, I got late checkout with no charges. The location is good. Chandigarh is huge, but this place is quite close to the points of interest, and it's even possible walk to the lake. Breakfast is not rich but decent, but good and tasty. You need to order your main entry in advance.

The beds are not too comfortable, even with the softener layer they kindly offered. The bath is ok but not too inviting. They recommended Uber service for getting there from Chandigarh airport, without explaining about taxi scams related to parking and state taxes fees. The supervisor at the hotel sides with the driver upon arrival. This or either way, they need to guide guests better on legitimate vs. scam charges for airport taxi.

It’s a private room away from the noise of hotels and markets and yet very close to them. One gets home cooked fresh breakfast in the morning and if you are lucky you get to meet Dan, a Bollywood actor.

Would be good to have few Mats in the bathroom at shower exit and toilet area.

The host and staff were amazing. It could be in the price range of Rs 4000 to 6000 tax included.

Magnifique maison d’hôte superbement bien décorée. Les chambres immenses offrent tout le confort moderne dans une ambiance délicieusement art déco. Les parties communes ressemblent plus à un musée qu’à un hôtel. Le propriétaire, ancien capitaine au long cours, vous fait l’honneur de la visite. Petit déjeuner copieux et varié. Adresse atypique dans une ville atypique.

On se sent très bien dans ce B&B aux allures de musée. Les chambres sont spacieuses et magnifiquement décorées. Le personnel est très serviable et discret. Parfait pour se relaxer quelques jours et profiter de Chandigarh. L'hôtel est également bien situé pour les quelques attractions touristiques de la ville bien que je recommande de les faire en Tuk Tuk plutôt qu'à pied (la ville ne s'y prête simplement pas).

The quiet and that it was filled with art that was most interesting. When the owner heard a client is I’ll he came to see me and check that we had everything we needed.

First thing that I must mention is all the brilliant art pieces that Capt. Dan has used to decorate the place. He indeed is a man of taste. The bedrooms and washrooms are huuuge with all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a upscale hotel room. The common spaces are lively with plenty of seating and a wide variety of books to keep you occupied. The gardens and the greenery outside add to the pleasant ambience of the place. The staff was extremely helpful, and their service exceptionally good. Availability of a parking space within the compound is also highly appreciated.

Everything, super comfortable, peaceful, very clean, well equipped and the team were helpful. We rested well here and loved the building full of soul.

Very beautiful place to stay

What a gem! Anchorage 42 is a wonderful home stay in a fantastic neighborhood. Friendly staff. Warm host. Great artwork. Even an elevator to get up to the floors! Private. Comfortable. They’ve thought of all the little things to make the stay fantastic. Highly recommend.

Capt. Dan was engaging and shared his extensive art collection. When we weren’t feeling well, he was very helpful, offering advise and also some good probiotics.
