Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Being in the deluxe suite meant there was also a small lounge that had wonderful view out over the Tauranga harbour. Taiparoro House is a historic house built in 1882 and it retains much of the character of that era. There is wonderful shared area that has a conservatory - lounge that looks out over a garden area. Just need to be ok with climbing stairs as there is stair case that you need to climb to get to the deluxe suite. Great place to stay (we were staying after my wife had had day surgery in Tauranga)

Reviewed Jul 18, 2026A beautiful homely space with historic touches. Set in a great corner vantage point to see the sunrise over the water. The room is large and has an extra space to eat. The bathroom has a lovely old claw foot bathtub. The photos are taken from the water edge which is a short 5 min walk from the house.

Penny and Ian were great hosts, the property was beautifully presented with the bonus of a delicious breakfast. I’d definitely recommend it and will stay there again next time we need accommodation in Tauranga.

Reviewed Apr 10, 2025Now this is how it should be; a beautifully preserved grand dame of a house, full of history and charm, quiet and serene with a comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and a lovely view across the harbour. You can get modern chrome, white walls and blandness in any number of motels, but this is a standout: old school charm, sedate and relaxed and all the better for it. Throw in two charming and helpful hosts and you’ve got a winner.
