Owners Mr & Mrs. Balagi were very hospitable to us, explaining about all the important temples in and around Kumbakonam and their significance. Mr. Balagi arranged for our food without any grumble and provided hot coffee in the mornings. Overall enjoyed their hospitality throughout our stay. We wish them all prosperity in the new year 2026.

Approach could have been better. But considering the fact that they own the property it's acceptable. Afterall, one does not go there quite often.

It's one of the best stays you can ever have in Kumbhakonam. Mr. Balaji and Mrs. Bhuvaneswari gives you such a warm welcome and takes care of all your little needs that the place really feels like home. Extremely well maintained with clean and neat interiors and really well maintained clean bathrooms. Really spacious rooms, that it feel more like a studio apartment than a hotel room. They also have a small, well maintained garden area with lots of birds that the mornings are too pleasant to be missed.

This was an excellent stay in India, made truly memorable by the amazing support we received. Not only was the accommodation outstanding, but the warm hospitality, thoughtful advice on local visits, and exceptional home-style service made our experience truly special.

From the moment I booked my stay at 'Kumbakonam Inn' untill returning home, Mr Balaji followed up and took care in every manner. From suggesting places, temples, eateries etc utmost care was given. Hadn't I met Mr Balaji, I'd have missed the most beautiful experiences. The 4-day stay was nothing short of extraordinary. I have travelled and stayed in many places, but I can confidently say this was one of the most pleasant, heartwarming, and memorable experiences I have ever had. Mr. Balaji and his wonderful family are the epitome of genuine hospitality. They are exceptionally kind, deeply respectful, and treat guests not just as visitors, but as friends or family. Their warmth, attentiveness, and generosity made us feel at home from the very first moment. It’s rare to meet hosts who go above and beyond in every possible way, and yet they did so effortlessly. The accommodation itself was spotless – neat, tidy, and truly hygienic. The stay was very pleasant. Mr Balaji and Mrs. Balaji as a host did us everything possible to take care of us. They coordinated with the cab services and drafted an excellent plan for our tour. Kumbakonam. City of Temples. And temples galore from Trichy to Chidambaram. Overwhelming. I chose the Kumbakonam Inn while planning our temple tour. We are an India born couple with a son born in the USA. Each unit in Kumbakonam Inn comprises a sitting area, kitchenette, large bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has three very good beds, adequate for four people. Quiet, spacious, CLEAN and comfortable. We slept better here than in North American hotels. Outside the room is a tropical garden with parrots and song birds. The owner inn keeper, Mr Balaji, knows the temple belt like none other. His guidance was on the spot. He added deeper perspective when appropriate. How did he read our minds? Mr Balaji arranged a good driver for us and, each day, gave him the sequence of temples and places to eat. We had planned to stay 4 days. Extended it to 9. Have fond memories of temples, food and the hospitality of Mr and Mrs Balaji.

If HAVE to nitpick, you will not mistake the street outside to be Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Did bother me? Not in the least.

They procure vegetarian breakfast from homes or eateries nearby. They source from people who provide clean and nutritious food. It's better to stick to traditional South Indian dishes like idli, vada, dosa, upma, etc for breakfast.

The access roads and surroundings were a bit rough

The property was a little haven, located in a silent enclosure. It gave us all the space and comfort to have a moment of rest and rejuvenation. Balaji's warmth and generosity made the place very special. He and his wife were very helpful and shared great recommendations for temple visits and places to eat. Next time we are in Kumbakonam, we hope to stay there again.

One of the most comfortable stays we had. Had a 3 year old & a 75 year old lady with us. The owner Balaji & Bhuvana made sure to make everything comfortable for us. The hospitality is world class. The rooms are very well maintained. Rooms were quiet as well and the hosts accommodated some of our specific needs. We asked them for blackout curtains and they made sure accomodate those for us. We will definitely be staying here again if we are back in Kumbakonam & recommending the place to others P.S - also consider asking Mr. Balaji for his recommendations on temples, places to eat and anything else Kumbakonam. He also doubles up as a great Kumbakonam local guide!

Mr. Balaji and his wife were very welcoming and treated us as family rather than customers. It started from before our arrival. I had enquired regarding travel services for driver and guide. In response, Mr. Balaji Whatsapped me several times with proposed itineraries and other suggestions. Because I was already traveling, I lost track of time and put it off. Luckily Mr. Balaji proactively contacted me and helped us with all the arrangements last minute. They also provide meal services for dinner, breakfast and afternoon tea. But what made Mr. and Mrs. Balaji stand out was an unforseen event. My sister suddenly had an allergic reaction late at night. I asked Mr. Balaji to order a taxi for us so that we can go to the nearest hospital. Mr. Balaji immediately arranged for an employee to drive us, and also insisted on coming along. Both he and his employee were with us at the hospital for the several hours. They weren't just there to drop us off; they were our advocates. They actively went up to the doctors and nurses on our behalf, made sure that my sister received care, then lined up for us at the pharmacy to get the medication and again at the cashier for payment. Without them, we would have been lost because the process was not intuitive and totally different from what we are used to in the US. The hospital was chaotic with no clear order...just crowds of people swarming around. We really appreciate everything Mr. and Mrs. Balaji did for us. They are wonderful people and very kind. Mr. Balaji refused to accept any money for his help, saying that he has a responsibility to us as we were his guest. I feel very fortunate that we were able to meet them. They are the best human beings.

Good clean & feels like home. Mr Bala is exceptionally guiding the guests & ensuring everything is spent perfectly while you stay here. He ensured to guide us regarding temples, food & every thing, something you won’t find anywhere. Even we relied on him for taxi booking which was quite economical & good. I recommend everyone to stay here at once , you will not regret. This was my first experience with a home stay and it definitely encouraged me to check in home stays before deciding at any accommodation.

The attention we got right from guiding our driver to the location of the inn , further coming often to check our needs and promptly attending to them , getting tea and coffee the we wanted , the food we ordered through them was excellent and the Management [ A Wonderful Couple here ] was pro-active and gave courteous attention to us throughout our stay. The rooms were elegant and quality was visible everywhere and I would prefer such accommodation to mere posh display.

Exceptionally clean home style place. I had reserved the place based on reviews and was apprehensive at first. The service at Kumbakonam Inn is truly outstanding. From ensuring we had the right directions to providing clean rooms , coordinating with nearby restaurants for food and service left me pleasantly surprised. My family loved the place and it was conveniently located to the temples we were visiting. A very good value and one that I will recommend.

It's personal touch of the Host Mr. Balaji and his wife . We felt like visiting our relatives house and not as a home stay. Since we went for pilgrimage, he guided us very well , how to plan our local trips , timing, distance and provided other tips . Since booking he followed us regularly,to help us to reach the property easily without any difficulty. Inside the property and rooms were kept neat and clean. There's ample parking space for your vehicles. We prefer to choose the same home stay every time we visit Kumbakonam and nearby areas . Big thanks to Host Mr. Balaji and his family and I personally strongly suggest people visiting Kumbakonam for its cleanliness and approachable most of the temples.

Though the location situated in a narrow road , it's hardly few meters away from Main highway. So it's not an issue.

Kombakonam In is quite and clean place. It's home away from home. The owners Mr and Mrs Balaji are wonderful people always ready to help. Mr Balaji daily prepare our schedule of places and send in advance to us and our driver which means slot to us. Always check our needs and ready to help. He even arranged all three meals during our stay. Definitely return and happy to recommend.

The practicality. The rooms in the property are very practical and would easily fit 4 members without additional bedding. The owners and staff were simply superb.

Very friendly and really helpful hosts, which tried everything, that I feel good and comfortable and who provided me with all the information, which I could need. Helpful in every respect. I liked my room on the upper floor, where I could sit outside as well. Rooms are clean and Wi-Fi was very quick.

Compared with similar home stays, where I stayed in India, pretty expensive. And it was my first home stay in India, where no discount was accepted for a single traveller, when I got a room, which actually was for 4 persons and my first home stay, where no breakfast was included. But how it was explained by Balaji I had to consider as well, that with online booking he needs to pay almost Rs 1000 as commission. Cocks from the neighbours started crowing well before the wake up call from the mosque nearby, but probably this is my personal problem, because I have a light sleep. UPDATE AND EXPLANATION, WHY I REDUCED MY INITIAL REVIEW FROM 9 POINTS TO 7 POINTS SOME TIME AFTER MY STAY There was something, what I did not like and where I discovered the problem only later. When I asked Belaij for a pick up to his place, he told me, he would arrange my pick up and that would cost me 1.000 Rupees - google maps showed 9,9 km. Later I found, that there are several websites for taxis like "kumbakonamfriendstrackcalltaxi", which offer on their website taxis: 20 km for 400 - 500 Rupees. Searching more I found very many rickshaw apps, to book a rickshaw online. There is no price negotiation. The apps show the regular rickshaw price, which varies depending f.e. on time and traffic, but 200 - 250 Rupees for 10 km is a typical average rickshaw price, if there is not much traffic. Could be even cheaper if negotiated without using the apps. Belaij approached me to help me with a rickshaw. Distance 10 km, mostly open road outside the city. But he told me, when he arranges it, he can not arrange it for 400 Rupees; - which is a already a bit of a rip off price for tourists, who do not know the regular and fair rickshaw prices in India. Belaji said, if he arranges it, I had to pay 450. Which I unfortunately did. Hotels charge overpriced rates for transport. But this is a home stay. Home stays should help their guests with regular and fair transport prices.

The stay was wonderful. It felt like home with Mr. and Mrs. Balaji and the support staff were also very helpful and sweet. Mr. Balaji also suggested places to visit around Kumbakonam ahead of our stay and on the way to the next place. So our journey was smooth and time efficient.

Very friendly hosts with great hospitality. The hosts gave a lot of suggestions on temples to visit, places to eat and shops. The apartment was new, clean and comfortable. Air conditioning and geyser were very functional. Good wi-fi with repeaters in the apartment. Enough space to park cars.

This is outside the main town away from the temples and restaurants. It is not a major issue if you have your car (and you can order food and get it delivered to your room)

I highly recommend this place to stay with family and the overall experience will exceed your expectations. Balaji and his wife are very empathetic and super committed to providing excellent customer service. He has been in touch with us throughout the trip and helped us guide us to the homestay and also places that we want to see nearby. As we travelled with two small kids and reached the stay a bit late, Balaji was in touch with us and arranged food (which is truly delicious). The entire duration of the stay we felt at home. The Homestay is really clean and very spacious with a kitchen, hall and decent size bedroom to accommodate all four of us. I recommend this homestay for any family that's looking for a comfortable place to stay around Kumbakonam, which also makes you feel like your second home.

Kumbakonam Inn is a wonderful place to stay in for short temple visit. It has very tidy rooms kept well, with reasonable rates. It is very comfortable to access and is the heart of the temple town and has good parking facility. The Owner is very courteous and well mannered and they will make your stay memorable. Only shortcoming is that there is no restaurant attached but since numerous hotels are available nearby, the same is not an issue. Do check out this place if you are on a pilgrimage with family and in your own transport. You will not be disappointed.

Hotel GM Balaji is super committed to provide excellent customer service. He provided us timely updates and proactively helped us to improve our travel itinerary as well. Also I noticed that other hotels are providing only sofa cum bed for the 3rd occupant which is not comfortable, where as this hotel have proper bed for all the guests.

Had a very comfortable stay with my family (which included a 8 year old kid and 3 month toddler). The room in addition to the spacious bedroom also has a small living room (very useful in case you have to work, eat without disturbing others sleeping in the room) and a small kitchen area as well in case you want to self-cook. Mr. Balaji (property owner) was in touch with us right from the date of booking and ensured that the stay was perfect. We went to Kumbakonam to have specific temple darshans as we were traveling with kids and they were very kind , service oriented and accommodating our varying requests including providing suggestions on what temples to visit at what time and routes to be taken. Highly recommend.

The property is indeed value for money. The staff were very polite and knew their job well. Special mention about Mr.Balaji (the owner) who was very much available for all support and was also very familiar with the temples around Kumbakonam, which really helped us. He also arranged tasty food that was budget friendly.

We stayed in a family room for a night. The rooms , the bed in the property were very well maintained just like a hotel. The bathroom toilet was clean. Mr. Balaji and his team are very hospitable. He follows up with you right from the time you have booked till your whole stay. He arranged dinner for us even though we were late. When I booked Kumbakonam inn for my recent trip to Kumbakonam from Australia, I was a bit doubtful if I had made the right choice. But my doubts vanished within half an hour of stay in the place. The property & the hosts were simply exceptional. The location, comfort, cleanliness & service, guidance on places to visit & food was simply superb. Hosts Balaji & Bhuvana are the loveliest people & made sure that everything was taken care of including the needs of my mobility impaired family member. Very accessible property. Definitely want to plan a longer stay next year. Would recommend this property to all my family & friends all over the world. When looking for someplace to stay in Kumbakonam, we came across this property. It was pleasant and spacious, with plenty of parking. The rooms were very tidy and clean, had all the essential utilities, and served as a mini home that was perfect for our family of four. Following my online reservation, Mr. Balaji called me to confirm my reservation. The following day, after we had left for our trip, he called to give me directions on how to reach the property without difficulty because the map showed a different route. He also gave us suggestions for the best places to stop for lunch along the way or in Kumbakonam by providing names of good hotels, which I don't think other people would do. This went above and beyond my expectations. Although there isn't a restaurant at the property, they were willing to make arrangements through their networks and were able to meet all of our basic needs. like tea and coffee within the property. We were made to feel extremely at ease, and Mr. Balaji gave us a lot of advice on how to organize our trip to Kumbakonam's temples, which was really helpful. In general, I would choose and recommend this property for families and friends, having in mind that it is simply like being at home, and they don't encourage parties or casual stays, which is excellent.

Very friendly hosts! The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and everyone on the property wants you to make a good stay! Home made coffee and tea are excellent ;)! We are a family of 5, have backpacked in Kenya and India in last month, this is one of our most enjoyed place on a reasonable budget. Hot water, laundry service, free wifi, flat screen, working AC are not just a promise as in many other hotels we visited so far. Our hosts are present on the property always ready to help you with anything. E.g : we were looking for dinner and they made proposals and managed the delivery, we were looking for good places to visit and they made tuned recommandations for our group (we have a 6 year boy), we were looking to wash some of out cloths and they helped us with it.... and always with a BIG BIG SMILE ! Million thanks to Mr Balaji, his wife and personnel who have helped us to enjoy the stay ! Hope to visit you again ! We do recommend this place !

I was really happy and felt lucky for having made the decision to stay at Kumbakonam Inn. The list goes long to describe what we liked in the property. The Host (Mr and Mrs GMBalaji) were true professional in maintaining the Accommodation standards and friendly in understanding the our needs.He contacted me a day in advance, gave directions from different perspective so we can cover many places before arriving there, arranging accommodation to the highest standard, Best Cleanliness, arranging food and beverages, recommending places for eat, helpful personalised conversation to maximise the purpose of the visit, and specifically for spiritual travellers staying in his place is great. Most of the temples are very nearby for the Inn by Car. My family really enjoyed the stay. We wanted to extend one more day but due to time constraints we couldn’t do. Not to forget He takes extra care for the safety and security of the lodgers by staying along with his family which really surprised us and we were moved. It was like we were part of his family. Look no further if you want to stay safe and in very good accommodation. The charges was also nominal for the service and care they provide. He gave accommodation for our driver as well. Overall a very pleasant experience which is very rare these days. Keep doing the same service Ravi. Others might as well must learn from you.

Balaji was very helpful and supportive from the time of booking till we reached home. The room was unexpectedly good and clean with all the essential facilities which i never seen anyone else provided. Our stay was very short and regret that we could have stayed there for some more time . We entire family loved the place and staff very much.
