Kind personnel and clean facilities. Good value for money.

Herzliche Gastgeber, gute Küche, sowohl abends von der Karte als auch beim Frühstück. Zimmer könnten mal eine Modernisierung vertragen, waren aber sauber und alles hat funktioniert. Habe mich wohl gefühlt.

As a traveler from Sydney, Australia, who has visited Switzerland over the last few years, I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Des Alpes in kandersteg . My review is based entirely on my honest, personal experience:Location & Accessibility: 10/10 (Convenient travel time from Kandersteg train station) Hotel Location: 9/10 Hotel Views: 9/10 Room Condition: 8/10 Breakfast: 8/10 (Fair value and quality considering the overall price) Bathroom Facilities: 9/10 Host & Staff Hospitality : 10/10 (Exceptionally warm and responsive to guests) Overall, you get great value for what you pay, which is exactly what this Hotel Des Alpes is all about. I highly recommend this Hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable overnight stay as well as lunch and Dinner. The hotel had an incredible location, friendly staff, great breakfast and had a nice vibe with friendly staff

great location about 10 mins from the station and the oeschinensee trail. it's also right next to a beautiful pond and park which was lovely to go to sit and for a stroll. i think it's the only place in the area offering hostel/dorm rooms which helped save a lot of money as a solo traveller. the continental breakfast was a nice bonus. showers and toilets were good with hot water and towels available. there's a restaurant on site but i didn't try it as i was on a budget. there are shops around to buy food and equipment if needed. the dorms are suitable as a place to just sleep after a day of exploring. with the cantons guestcard you also get discounts and free local travel on the trains and bus so i also explored some of the neighbouring towns.

it was a bit questionable when i was escorted from the main building, led outside and down to the basement where the dorms are; it looked like a changing room but luckily i was placed in a room with a door which i had to myself rather than out in the open. the foam mattress wasn't that comfortable but fine. there's no kitchen but there was a fridge and microwave available although you're not allowed to eat there; there's an old table and a chair outside the stairs so i usually sat there for dinner.

Very basic accommodation the rooms are very small and dark. No kitchen amenities there is a small microwave and fridge but no utensils, bowls, cups etc. The bedding was very old with holes in the sheets and blanket. very basic breakfast but the food was fresh. The owners were not particularly warm or welcoming, which made the stay feel less comfortable.

Nice simple hotel, very good quality/price ratio. In a quiet part of the village + good breakfast and comfortable room.

It is clean and provides basic amenities. The breakfast was superb. There is a beautiful pond at the back of the property that we loved.

There were flies at the reception area at the time. Other than that, everything else was clean.

Zimmer ohne Fenster im Massenlager eine Katastrophe, dies vor allem, weil es in der Beschreibung nicht erwähnt wird!!!! Begründung: Es gehen nur junge Leute ins Massenlager und die haben nie reklamiert. Ich bin älter, bin mich gewohnt, in Masenschlägen zu schlafen, ABER NICHT OHNE Fenster.

Das Frühstück war wunderbar, sogar mit veganen (u.a. Hafermilch) und glutenfreien Optionen. Das Check-in war sehr unkompliziert, das Personal sehr nett.

Für die Mehrbettzimmer gibt es eine Kasse für die Garderobe (Duschen und WCs), was verständlich ist, aber es wäre ein bisschen einfacher, wenn diese Leistung im Preis inbegriffen wäre.

Les dortoirs sont en fait situés sous le RDC de l'hôtel, il y a donc peu d'accès à la lumière naturelle.

Owner shouted across the room at another member of staff when we came to pay on arrival. Not a good first impression. Breakfast started at 8am but we needed to go by 6:30. This was a Monday and most hotels start breakfast at 6am on a weekday. There was a shop in the station so we could get breakfast but a shame as we were meant to have breakfast with the stay.

Great breakfast and location to our hike to Doldendornhutte was perfect! Loved the town with the amazing views! Thanks for letting us borrow a fly swatter! The room was spacious for the 4 beds, private bathroom and all our luggage.

Flies! They were everywhere! Even at breakfast. I'd invest in mass fly traps. No AC; we were there during a heat wave.

Perfect for backpackers on a budget. Quiet area with a great lake to enjoy views of the valley in the afternoons/evenings. Bed is quite comfy for a bare minimum B&B,

Das Abendessen im restaurant war sehr gut, es gibt eine vielseitige Menuekarte und ein tolles Angebot von feinem Glace.

Das Frühstück findet frühestens um 8:00 Uhr statt. Das finde ich für eine Wanderregion zu spät. Sie haben uns dann zur Selbstbedineung ein kleines Buffet mit dem Nötigsten bereitgestellt, dass war gut.

The hostel is basically located in a basement.

The hotel located a little bit outside of town center but we like how quiet it was. And also there was a trail head and beautiful park behind the hotel. We spent evening over there. Very nice hotel. I would stay again if I will visit this area in the future.

The location was unbeatable!!! Absolutely gorgeous view. Room was comfortable. Dinner was delicious. Owner lady was nice.

It can get crowded in the restaurant. It was a bit expensive… but I guess compared to others in Switzerland it’s ok.

İnanılmaz bir konum! Hostelin hemen yanında 2 adet harika göl var. Bankta otururken göl ve dağ manzarasini beraber görebilirsiniz. 20 dakika yürüyerek Oeschinensee teleferiğine ulaşacaksınız (erken gidin sıra oluyor fiyatı gidiş geliş 40 chf). Blausee için ise otobüs 10 dakikada götürüyor girişi 11 CHF. Açık büfe kahvaltı imkanı var.

Yatakhane küçüktü. Tuvaletlerde çok küçük böcekler vardı.

Heel goed gelegen. Onze tussenstop voor trein.

I visited during low-season so there was hardly anyone else in the hotel. I booked a bed in 4 bed dorm which I had all to myself. It was a very small room with 2 bunk beds, which was great for one but would have been very tight for 3-4 people

De bergen liggen direct achter het hotel.

Mss zijn de hotelkamers prima hoor, daar kan ik niet over oordelen. Echter de zogenoemde slaapzaal die ik geboekt had, was verre van een slaapzaal. Ik werd naar achter het hotel geleid: naast een grote container en een rommelig carport ging een trapje naar beneden. Excuses dat ik het zeg, maar het zag er niet uit. De twee mensen die het volgens mij runnen vond ik niet vriendelijk of behulpzaam. Jammer,want dat had veel goed kunnen maken. Er stond een stapelbed op een piepkleine kamer. Als ik de deur opende botste ik tegen een jongeman die niet eens op een kamertje lag: er stond gwn een stapelbed op de ‘gang’ met een kamerscherm ervoor. Hij had totaal geen privacy omdat hij direct achter onze deur lag. Als je in de nacht naar t toilet gaat, springen feel lampen aan in die gang: arme jongens als ze dot bij iedereen die naar t toilet moet meemaken… Veel mensen, ik gok 15, op een hele kleine ruimte gepropt met maar twee douches en twee toiletten. En als laatste vind ik het niet absoluut niet fijn dat de receptie pas om 08.00 uur open gaat en t ontbijt ook pas om 08.00 uur start. Ik ben, en vast velen met mij, op doorreis en dan is dat tijdstip echt te laat. Minstens een uur eerder zou fijn zijn: zeker voor wandelaars die niet laat willen vertrekken ivm de warmte. Andere optie was geweest dat ze dit gemeld hadden: dan had ik de avond ervoor al betaald enzo. Nu ga ik er maar van uit dat ze de rekening nasturen.

It was a bit of a walk from the train station. The breakfast wasn’t quite as good as the other places we have stayed.

Close to town, you can walk to the gondola to get to the lake. Breakfast was very good The staff was very friendly The accommodations aren't five star hotel but you're not paying for a five-star hotel for the money this is the best I've had.

I suppose they could have slightly better directions to finding the bunk rooms but that is such a non complaint

Excelente ubicación, hermosas vistas , el hotel tiene un hermoso lago al fondo donde pudimos tomar unos ricos mates. Personal muy amable, cena y desayuno muy rico, La moza de Portugal que habla algo de español muyy simpática.

Le petit déjeuner est incroyable

The breakfast was the highlight — authentic Swiss cheese, fresh milk from local cows, and a great variety including bread, cereals, fruits, and eggs. The hosts are a lovely older couple who were always responsive and helpful. The location is perfect for hikers, with Blausee just a 30-minute bus ride away and trails like the Oeschinensee hike and Via Ferrata starting nearby. Excellent value for money with breakfast included.

Wi-Fi reception in my dorm room was very poor — I had to go to the restaurant area to get a connection (though it was super fast there). The dorm has no proper ventilation; the only option is opening a window that faces a walkway where people pass by. The wooden construction means you can hear people walking around, which may disturb light sleepers.
