Everything!
I would just add a small fridge into the rooms.
Stayed hear for a week i would never return First night we arrived checked in was fine until we seen our room no fridge no kettle air con not working fan not working back to reception to be told come back tomorrow just sleep with door open we were on the ground floor not a chance. Back to reception £10for air con returnable did not work staff at reception are so ignorant and dont care eventually got a small fan hopeless. Dinning room run down had to sit outside as no air con food was just ok. Deserts disgusting. Pool was terrible tiles broken in pool pool bar so run down again staff ignorant if you are French your OK The animation team are spot on how the work there is beyond me The only good thing about this place was the view I give this hell hotel 1/10
Location: Far out prepare to walk or a taxi is about €7.50 - €8. Rooms: Dated but clean, Cleaning staff cleaned the rooms 5 outta the 7 days we were there. Atmosphere: Very good from the Reception staff, dinning complex staff, Cleaning staff and the bar staff all went out of the way to help. Food: Plenty of choice and loads there, food was lovely throughout. Overall this holiday was a great one one downside was no fridge in the room.

Nefasta nuestra estancia IRRECOMENDABLE..
Worse experience ever Royal Monica Hotel food posning no kettle no fridge old tellavion leaking water in restaurant roof
Location is amazing, close to the sea, and only cheap taxi to playa blanca. Great snorkeling on the private beach. The swimming at the pool is a decent size and plenty if beds, entertainment team work hard to get people involved in games throughout the day and all we're approachable and uplifting. The food generally was pretty good but lunch at the pool could have more variety but the option to go to the main restaurant is there. Experience with the staff was mixed, entertainment team were all excellent and there were a couple of decent waiters. We stayed all inclusive the beer was fine (Amstel) but only one option, the wine was cheap, Sangria was nice, cocktails low alcohol and cheap. This could be improved greatly and the bar stopping for all inclusive at 2300 could be later.
We arrived at Royal Monica quite late, at around 11pm. The hotel had kindly left some food available for us, which was much appreciated after travelling. It was a cold buffet with a limited selection, which was completely understandable at that time of night, but it was perfectly fine and a thoughtful touch. The check-in process was quick and easy. Our room was exactly what I would expect from a three-star hotel. Like many hotel rooms abroad, it was a fairly simple rectangular room with beds and a bathroom. Was I expecting anything more luxurious? No. Was it clean? Yes. Did it comfortably do the job for our week away? Absolutely. The rooms are cleaned five days a week, which was more than enough for us and helped keep everything tidy throughout the stay. One area where the hotel could improve is by giving certain parts a little more TLC. A lick of paint here and there would make a noticeable difference, although this did not have any real impact on our holiday. I would also like to see a fridge provided in the rooms. Even when staying all-inclusive, it is still nice to have a cold bottle of water or a couple of beers available in the room. I had read about the lack of a fridge before travelling, so I took a small portable mini fridge with me. It was light enough to travel with and held around six small cans, so it proved very useful throughout the week. The following morning, we went down for breakfast and the selection was very good. To be completely honest, I have stayed in five-star hotels where the breakfast offering was much the same. There was plenty to choose from, including cooked breakfast items, cereals, pastries, yoghurt, pancakes, fruit and different breads. The pancakes are available at breakfast and again from the pool bar during the afternoon, which brings me to one tongue-in-cheek criticism: the enormous bowl of Nutella does my waistline absolutely no favours. Nutella is my biggest weakness when it comes to food, so having a massive bowl of it available for me to help myself to for around four hours a day is definitely not good for me—no matter how delicious it is! The pool area opens at 10am. There are plenty of sunbeds and the swimming pool is large. The pool bar also opens at 10am, with food available throughout most of the day. During the morning, there are breads, pastries and meats. At lunchtime, burgers, pizzas and chips are available, followed by pancakes and cakes later in the afternoon. Alternatively, you can visit the main restaurant at lunchtime for a much wider selection. Overall, the food was better than at several other all-inclusive hotels I have stayed in. There was plenty of choice, food was available for most of the day and the quality was generally very good. As a single parent travelling with my five-year-old daughter, I was really happy with the hotel. The kids’ club is open from 11am until 1pm and again from 3pm until 5pm. It was an absolute lifesaver. My daughter really enjoyed it, which gave me up to four hours each day to relax and enjoy some time by the pool. This is a great hotel to visit with young children, mainly because the kids’ club is so good. It gives children something enjoyable to do while also allowing parents some proper time to relax. All the staff were great throughout our stay, and they were especially good with the children. They were friendly, welcoming and always made an effort to speak to my daughter and make her feel comfortable. The animation team also worked extremely hard throughout the day, providing plenty of activities for adults. These included aqua boxing, aqua dance, sangria making, dance lessons and several other activities. Of the six nights when we were able to watch the evening entertainment, four nights were organised in-house and two featured outside acts. The in-house entertainment included things such as bingo, music quizzes and family games. Personally, quizzes and similar games are not really my thing, but that is purely down to personal choice. We did enjoy the two outsourced shows, which featured an acrobatics act and a magic act. I generally prefer singers, dancers and visiting performers, so I would have liked to see a little more entertainment of that type. However, I certainly would not let the evening entertainment stop me from booking the hotel again. A holiday is still much more about the people you are with and what you do during the other 90% of the day. The daytime facilities, kids’ club, pool, food and location more than made up for the entertainment not always being completely to my taste. The all-inclusive drinks were absolutely fine. The lager tasted like lager and certainly did the job. It did not taste watered down, which is always a bonus. There was also a selection of basic cocktails, spirits, long drinks and soft drinks. Soft drinks were self-service, and there were also tea and coffee machines available. Food was available from breakfast at 7:30am right through until around 9:30pm, so there was very little chance of going hungry. There is also a shop on site which is open from 9am until 1pm and then again from 5pm until 9pm. It sells bottled water, food, other drinks, clothing, suncream, toys and other useful holiday essentials. Alternatively, there is a small basic supermarket around a 15-minute walk down the road. The hotel also has a gym and spa, but I did not use either of them during our stay, so I cannot fairly comment on their quality or facilities. One of the most impressive things about this hotel is the private beach areas. They are beautiful, peaceful spaces where you can sunbathe with more privacy while looking out over the sea. There is also direct access to the sea, which makes the area feel even more special. The sea around the hotel is also very good for snorkelling, with plenty of fish to see beneath the water. Outside the hotel, you can explore the rocks looking for crabs, and there are also places where people can go fishing. These small activities are particularly enjoyable when travelling with children and provide something different to do away from the pool. Playa Blanca is also easy and cheap to reach. The bus costs just €1.40, with the bus stop around a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Flamingo Beach costs the same amount to reach by bus, or you can walk there directly along the seafront from the hotel in around 20 to 25 minutes. It is also worth mentioning that the hotel attracts guests from all over Europe, so do not arrive expecting everyone to be English. At the beginning of our stay, the hotel seemed to be dominated by French guests, with English, German, Italian and Polish guests also staying there, along with visitors from many other countries. However, the mix changed noticeably as the week went on, with an obvious increase in both English and German guests arriving later in our stay. We stayed from Monday to Monday, and by Friday I was hearing English spoken more than any other language. The mix of nationalities may therefore depend heavily on the time of year, arrival days and the different school holiday dates across Europe. Did this affect our holiday? Absolutely not. As you would expect in a tourist hotel, the staff all speak English, and English is still commonly used as the neutral language between guests and staff. We had no communication problems at all. One significant negative, however, is for football and sports fans. If you visit while the football season is underway, you are unlikely to be able to watch the matches at the hotel. Luckily, I visited after the World Cup had finished and before the new football season started, so there was no sport that I particularly needed to watch anyway. However, this is worth knowing before booking if watching live football is an important part of your holiday. Overall, I would happily recommend Royal Monica based on our stay. It is not a luxury five-star resort, but it does not claim to be. For a three-star all-inclusive hotel, it offers clean accommodation, good food, a large pool area, excellent facilities for children, friendly staff, useful on-site amenities, affordable transport links and beautiful sea views. A little more maintenance, a fridge in the rooms and a wider range of evening entertainment would improve it further, but none of these issues would prevent me from staying here again.
The hotel aThe hotel and rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff was polite. The rooms were spacious and accommodated our family of four comfortably. The food was good, with a variety of options available for both us and the kids. However, the service could be slow at times, as we often had to wait for staff to bring out more food. The hotel itself is in need of renovation, as it shows signs of aging, particularly the pool area. There was some daytime entertainment, but it was limited. The drinks were not very enjoyable; despite paying for an all-inclusive package, the cocktails were unappetizing, and the beer tasted watery. During our stay, there was no kids' club available, and the evening entertainment was quite poor. As a result, we spent most of our days exploring outside the hotel and in Playa Blanca, as there wasn't much to do around the hotel itself. Overall, it wasn't the best place we've stayed at; we've experienced much better accommodations for a similar price.
I always write my reviews in the same manner. I always do my reviews half way through the holiday so I am still in the right frame of mind, and I always explain that our standards are not excessively high. We have been to Playa Blanca numerous times and know Lanzarote fairly well.. Royal Monica was classed as 3 star when we booked up. We always budget for a 3* -4* hotel and they are all very similar as regards rooms, entertainment and food. If one hotel is better in one aspect, you tend to find it will let itself down in others, so at the price we pay, we never expect perfection Firstly, the room. We paid extra for a sea view which is definitely worth it. There are two levels of apartments on the sea front and the downstairs rooms hasve their own patio, which is less than a stones throw away from the sea. The location would be difficult to beat in that respect. Otherwise, the hotel itself is about a 45 minute walk along the seafront to the centre of the town, but we hired a car so we had the choice. There are closer shops and bars than this however. Entertainment is available but limited. The 'Animation' team do games for kids and adults throughout the day, like boules, pool sports etc, and then bingo quizzes and disco on the night. There are two main pools and a smaller one for toddlers. Plenty of sunbeds are available including some on the hotels private beach (which is a small pebble beach) The rooms themselves are fairly standard twin double. They were kept very clean throughout the stay and were cool from the heat outside. Some may think the decor is dated but I didn't think this. The mattress was too hard for my liking, but still able to sleep. When people complain about these types of holiday, jt often involves food. The food is standard for your 3 or 4 style hotel. They have to cater for many nationalities, so it is a simple affair. A pork orr chicken dish most night.s Also, chips, rice or potatosj and warm vegetables. Always a plentiful variety of fruit and salads along with deserts. The all inclusive here is a positive. Normally, drinks are limited in one way or another. But here, you can have cocktails which is not usual. Often the beer and wine along with soft drinks is self service, along with tea and coffee. All staff we have met are friendly and eager to please,. The dining room staff work tirelessly to make sure there are always tables clean, and you can see the chefs prepare food. The animation team are proactive in getting people involved and the cleaners do a great job. I would not describe this as a negative as such, but some of the complex is in need of modernising. There are people working on this and from what we noticed it is mainly cosmetic and not a big deal. Again, not a negative, but a lot of the patrons are French. We always book with love holidays, and whilst they are by far the cheapest, we never end up in an English hotel. We prefer this. We find all nationalities to be polite my in general, and there are enough English families to socialise if you choose. Finally, be aware that if you come in July, it is Lanzarote s windiest month. In previous hotels, this has rocked hazardous as we have come close to being impaled by sun umbrellas. But here, they are solid wood umbrellas so it is a lot safer.
For my first solo trip I definitely picked the right location. Beach literally on the doorstep with the most stunning views. Hotel however was very hit or miss, food seemed to be very repetitive but loved the pizza in the pool bar. But if you like fish plenty on offer, the two nights I got chicken it’s wasn’t cooked. Bar staff so friendly and accommodating. By far best thing of the week was Aqua Dance with Pedro it was so funny and a great experience. Day time experience otherwise was lacking no music by the pool during the day unless aqua dance was on.
Rooms were clean ,food ok ,fish had lots of bones in it apart from the fresh tuna which was nice as was the tinned tuna ,meat on offer was pork ,pork loin ,hog roast ,pork chops ,pork steaks ,beef stew ,on my arrival travelling solo ,I sat for evening meal ,around half eight ISH ,they served meals until 9 30 in the evenings I made the mistake of sitting at a table for five ,the restaurant assistant was rather rude ,telling me they had to clear up as they had to prep for breakfast ,after that I made sure I sat at a table for two ,so one evening same restaurant assistant came up to me ,pulled the chair up opposite as I was sitting down and said table for two I said no just me ,having lost my husband earlier this year to cancer ,I thought he was out of order the little sod ,all entertainment was aimed at the french ,plus the Germans well that's another story ,I found it too far out of center of playa blanca ,4 mile walk in same back ,not ideal in the heat ,plus an insect the size of a mouse running round my room on first night due to me opening the patio doors slightly to let some air in as Aircon didn't work and ceiling fan didn't work but if it had it would have been far to noisy ,as I could hear next doors ceiling fan ,would I stay here again not on your nelly
The air conditioning doesn't work and they didn't even bother to do anything.
We stayed at this hotel in July and, while there were some positives, our experience was ultimately overshadowed by a very serious safety concern and the hotel’s disappointing response to it. The views are beautiful, the pool area is lovely, and some of the bar staff and reception staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, these positives do not outweigh the issues we experienced during our stay. The most concerning part of our holiday was when my mum and I were followed back to our room by a man. We were staying in one of the beach-view rooms, which are located beside a public walkway where anyone can walk past. The man followed us and then attempted to get into our room, damaging the door in the process. It was only when I screamed that he ran away. What made the situation even more alarming was that he later returned and appeared to be watching our room. He stood outside staring towards our room and only left when he saw that my mum’s fiancé’s sons had returned. As two women, this was an incredibly frightening experience and made us feel extremely unsafe. We reported the incident immediately by phone and in person at reception. Unfortunately, the response from the hotel was shocking. Rather than showing concern and taking the matter seriously, staff appeared dismissive. I was even told to “calm down”, despite being an 18-year-old woman who’s it’s her first time abroad who had just experienced a man attempting to enter our room. We were left feeling unsupported, unsafe, and as though our concerns were not being taken seriously. A situation involving a guest’s safety should never be handled this way. This raises serious concerns about guest security, particularly for women travelling alone, young female travellers, and families with children. A man attempting to gain access to a guest room and then returning to watch the occupants should have been treated with far greater urgency. There were also several other issues throughout our stay. Some of the food was regularly served cold, and while there was a reasonable selection available, the menus rarely changed. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner often felt like the same food being served repeatedly every day. After a few days it became very repetitive and quite sickening, especially for guests staying for longer periods. There was also no bath plug provided in our room, meaning the bath could not be used properly, which seems like a very basic requirement for a hotel room. The hotel is also not disability-friendly at all. Many of the pathways are uneven, bumpy, cracked, and unstable, making them difficult to navigate safely. In addition, the shower/bath was very high to step into, which could be challenging and potentially unsafe for elderly guests, people with mobility issues, or anyone requiring accessibility support. To make matters worse, we paid €50 to hire a wheelchair for five days, only to find that one of the tyres was flat and the wheelchair was uncomfortable to use. Because of this, it was barely used, making it a complete waste of money. Given the condition of the pathways around the hotel and our experience with the wheelchair, I would strongly recommend that anyone with mobility issues hire a mobility scooter instead if possible, as it would likely be much safer, more comfortable, and easier to get around the resort. What made this even more frustrating was that my mum’s fiancé, who relies on a mobility scooter, was told by one receptionist that he was not allowed to use the lift with it to get down to the restaurant. We found this completely ridiculous and extremely insensitive given that mobility aids are essential for many guests. Preventing or discouraging someone from using a lift to access facilities because they are using a mobility scooter is not what you would expect from a hotel that claims to accommodate all guests. Another issue was the lack of privacy around some of the beach-view rooms. Because they are situated beside public walkways, people can easily walk past and look directly towards the rooms, which became particularly concerning after the incident we experienced. It’s a shame because the hotel has beautiful surroundings and some genuinely lovely staff members. However, guest safety, accessibility, and guest welfare should always be the highest priorities. The frightening experience we had, combined with the dismissive response afterwards and the accessibility issues we encountered, completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our holiday. Another thing we noticed throughout our stay was that, as English and Irish guests, we often felt uncomfortable due to the behaviour of some other hotel guests. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we experienced constant staring, dirty looks, and what felt like unfriendly attitudes from certain guests. Whether we were simply walking through the hotel, sitting by the pool, eating in the restaurant, or having a conversation amongst ourselves, we frequently noticed people staring at us for extended periods of time. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made us feel unwelcome during parts of our holiday. While we understand that the behaviour of other guests is not directly controlled by the hotel, it unfortunately added to the negative experience we had and contributed to us not feeling particularly comfortable or relaxed during our stay. I would strongly advise other guests, particularly women travelling alone, families with children, and those with mobility difficulties, to carefully consider these issues before booking. Personally my experience at this hotel has turned me off from going abroad for awhile.
I went to this hotel with a friend and her 10 year daughter and another friend . The location is perfect . The sea just in front of the hotel and a 45 minute walk into the town . We had a sea facing room which was perfect . The rooms are lovely - a huge lounge with sofa bed / tv / table and chairs and balcony . Large bedroom with wardrobe and decent size bathroom with a good shower . Hairdryer provided . Rooms cleaned everyday except Wednesday and Sunday and towels change when ever you like . The all inclusive drinks choice is huge . You name it they have it . The pool bar is open all day / in the evening has entertainment . Nothing too much as the World Cup was on but usually a tiny kid disco then we had one night a magician , another dancers and bingo . We took a few card games The entertainment team are amazing especially Pedro and Amos During the day we did Aqua Dance and there’s also table tennis contests / darts / paddle board and numerous other events . We really enjoyed all the meals / served buffet style and a huge choice . The restaurant staff were lovely too. If you want a quiet chilled location this location is perfect . I could lay on my sun lounger by the pool and also see the sea . If your looking for more bars / eating places go nearer town We would definitely go back to this hotel People might say this hotel is tired and first impressions when you pull up it is but they are doing a lot of work to the exterior - painting and replacing outdoor lights etc And in another year the exterior I’m sure will be perfect
Very good value for money and staff are nice and friendly, would definitely recommend it for a weeks get away, right on the sea front and hosting some stunning views, foods great and offers a wide range for vegetarian and vegan options.
Lovely room, amazing staff and lovely food!
Location is in a beautiful setting. A bit further away from the main town of Playa Blanca and a bit of a walk to access the sea. Lovely atmosphere albeit relatively quiet. Rooms are exactly as required, comfortable beds, good shower/bathroom and kept clean. Food was basic but accommodating. Entertainment was minimal however the World Cup was being shown which will have changed the timetable slightly. The entertainment team and the staff were exceptional with great energy and enthusiasm.
Fantastic entertainment… Pedro has made us feel so welcome and calls me his brother lol loved the nice relaxing atmosphere and the activities they have provided
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was excellent. A special thank you to Pedro from Animation team. He was always energetic, welcoming, and made every activity fun and engaging. His positive attitude and enthusiasm really helped make the holiday more enjoyable and memorable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to come back again in the future! Hopefully cya soon Lewandowski 😉
We arrived yesterday 15 of June and checked out today on 16 of June was supposed to be a 7 day holiday do not waste your time or money this place is a 1star at best do not believe what you see in photos a complete con I do not believe anyone from love holiday either visited let alone stayed there or they wouldn’t be advertising it on their site now we’ve had to pay to stay in another hotel as there was no point in complaining the place is a complete dump even when we were getting shuttle from airport and told driver where we were staying he started laughing that should have told us something plus trying to contact love holiday to complain they don’t have email address but are quick to take your money every month hopefully they will see this and reach out to us
Trato del personal. La animación del hotel. Bufet bien.
Myself and two daughters both full time working Mums and in serious need of a break, had the best time at this hotel. The hotel didn’t feel like a typical all-inclusive, which we saw as a huge positive—and had a more relaxed and authentic atmosphere. The food was consistently good, with plenty of choice and quality throughout our stay. I don’t eat meat and was very happy with the fish, vegetables and salad, and being able to sit outside the main restaurant was a real bonus. One of the highlights was the beautiful outdoor sunbathing areas set among the rocks just outside the hotel—such a unique and peaceful spot to sit, read and unwind. There is also a sandy area with safe access to the sea which was another highlight of our holiday. The staff were fantastic without exception and the whole place had a very laid-back vibe. The Tropicana tapas next to the hotel was excellent for a cold beer and the food looked fab, though we didn’t try anything. If you, like us, are used to travelling often, it’s worth keeping expectations realistic—this is a 3-star hotel doing a great job and for us provided a great last minute escape to the sun.
Beautiful views , staff were very helpful, spacious facilities and absolutely spotless. Booked a sea view room and was given a fabulous family room . First time abroad alone but felt very safe and welcome , very well rested .
Food good for a 3 star , if you like fish then you have plenty choice Hotel its a bit dated and the odd bit of flaking paint , the pool isn't heated, apart from that it was a fabulous stay .
What a lovely stay we had at this hotel. From when we arrived late evening and they sent us straight for dinner before checking us in to make sure we were feed to check out we had nothing but great attention from all staff ! The rooms are always cleaned and comfortable and the food varied for all tastes. Hot and fresh products 👌... We stays for 7 night and or though early season the entertainer team worked hard ! Especially Leonardo who went out of his way to chat to guests and was such a polite friendly young man. We will definitely be returning to this hotel but for ten nights this time as it went far to quick haha. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday enjoyable 👏👏
Visited this hotel for a week from 1st March. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very welcoming and polite lady on reception who explained where our room would be found. Quick and easy check in. Room was spacious and clean. Couple of silly things that were missing like plugs for the bath and basin. No fridge either but not really an issue. Beds were comfortable enough. The hotel was clean enough but very run down and in need of a revamp. FOOD - not the best food. Lacking in quality and quantity on an evening. The roof also leaked in the restaurant when it rained on one of the evenings we ate in. We ended up eating out 5 nights out of the 7 we were there. The pizza and chips were ok in the pool bar on a lunchtime but quickly went cold. Breakfast was ok. DRINKS - the drinks were fine. Decent enough beer. Very poor lighting on an evening. Plenty of lights but none working which was quite dangerous on an evening particularly around the wooden bridge area on the way to and from the pool bar. Wouldn't recommend coming here if you're British and enjoy meeting other people as a very strong foreign contingent, particularly French. Nothing against foreigners but because of the language barrier difficult to make friends. Hardly any British people here whilst we were there. Can't comment on the pool/s as too cold to use due the weather not being great. The setting of the hotel is lovely looking out over the sea to Fuerteventura with a 40 minute walk along the promenade into the town. Can't really comment too much on the entertainment on an evening as we went out and was finished by the time we got back. Enjoyed the break but wouldn't come back to this hotel.
Realy old hotel in very poor condition Not worth the £1575 all in clusive for a week Changed room straight away, and the second one was poor. Cold food Been eating out to get hot food. Would have come if the hotel photo showed what it's Realy like
We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Mónica. We booked a sea view room and loved falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves. Our room was basic but comfortable. The bathroom could have done with better ventilation but that was the only downside. We loved the food here, we eat everything and appreciated the choice. Some of the meats were superb, plenty of salad and veggies and lots of choice for dessert. I don’t think we ate a single thing that we didn’t enjoy. We didn’t brave the pool but loved the sunbeds overlooking the ocean. The pool bar staff were amazing, the animation team worked hard and although we were some of the few British people there at the time (mostly French and German) we never felt excluded. The drinks were quite strong and I loved the freshly made mojitos made with fresh mint a little bit too much! The hotel is located about 30 minutes walk from Playa Flamingo which is an easy stroll along the promenade. There is a bus stop 10 minutes walk away which takes you into Playa Blanca for €1.30 (card accepted). We paid to use the spa, €10 each for 90 minutes. The spa is a little tired and could do with a repaint and freshen up and unfortunately the steam room wasn’t working but on the whole it was reasonable value for money. We would definitely come back here for a relaxing holiday!
My mum and I have just returned from a 3 day break at the Royal Monica and feel compelled to write a review after our wonderful stay. This was our first time in Lanzarote and the resort of Playa Blanca was perfect for us - beautiful long promenades for running and walking and the hotel overlooks cove beaches and the sea - exactly what we wanted for a lovely relaxing stay. On arrival, the reception team were friendly and helpful. We booked a sea view family room (highly recommend) and opened up our balcony doors to sea and hear the sea every day. The hotel and rooms were always cleaned and serviced regularly. Meal choices were much better than many 4 star AI resorts we have stayed in before including vegetarian options. Always plenty of choices, great mealtimes and staff were always friendly and attentive. Evening entertainment, like many hotels, can be a little hit and miss but the animation team were friendly and welcoming and worked hard to make sure everyone had fun! Although the hotel is 3 star, the staff, service, food and location make this closer to a 4 star. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay. We look forward to returning to Lanzarote and the SBH Royal Monica in the future,
Great hotel. Its a 3 stars hotel but everything was perfect . The location , the staff , the buffet and the room was also really clean . It also has a nice sea view . I didnt use the swimming pool so i cant leave a review of that . The only thing that they need to change IS the juice options for breakfast ( they were not natural and not good quality. But i was really Happy with all the rest. The hotel maybe needs a renovación of some áreas and furniture but the room was confortable and clean .
Really enjoyed our stay here. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a brilliant location, very close to the seafront. A walk of around 30 minutes along the promenade in one direction takes you into Playa Blanca, and in the other direction to the lighthouse, and around the headland. Across the road from the hotel is Montana Roja, and the walk to the start of the climb is around 15 minutes. Well worth the climb to walk around the crater. Lots of buses seem to go from the main road, although we didn't take any. We booked a room with a sea view, and that was definitely worth the extra payment. We had a large suite with bedroom, living area, bathroom and large balcony. It was, as I see noted in other reviews, a little 'odd' not to have a kettle, as this is common in the UK, even in a bed and breakfast. However, we had read the details of the hotel offer, so knew what to expect. There is one restaurant, which offers a buffet for all meals. The food was good and plentiful, even for our vegetarian and gluten free diets. There were always plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit dishes available. The pool bar also offered coffee, drinks and snack foods such as pizza and doughnuts. The pool looked lovely, although it felt a little cool. Lots of sunbeds, and then more sunbeds down by the rocks/ beach. We didn't visit the pool bar in the evening, as we were generally too tired from a day of walking! Overall, this was an ideal hotel for us, as we really just wanted a base to explore from. The weather in January was cool enough to be able to do that.
Worse hotel experience can’t wait to go home please if you want a nice holiday don’t come here, no kettle in room which I thought very bizarre. People are rude including some staff.
Worse hotel experience ever this hotel should beclassed as 1 star and that's being generous had to buy water no kettle or fridge food cold no English channels on tv was told the to old no quiet drinking place after 9 had to go pool bar entertainment absolutely rubbish
Visited for 4 nights just before Christmas, reading the reviews I was a bit unsure but booked anyway as it was a very reasonable price. The hotel does need upgrading in areas, room was huge, bed was hard but ok to stay in for a few nights, location was brilliant although a fair distance from the main town. Food very average but ok and something for everyone, maybe struggle if you're fussy. We ate out a couple of times which was definitely needed. Even my daughter at 11yrs old said the food was just ok and she is a very good eater. Drinks also ok soft drinks fine, cocktails were cheap mixes, beer decent. Would I visit again... if it was a good price again but wouldnt be bothered about all inclusive.
We booked this hotel last minute for new year. After ready some reviews I was very sceptical but I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the whole area was. The rooms are very basic but they were cleaned if you left your green card in the door. The sea rooms are definitely the ones you want to book as the view is beautiful. They are only 1 bedroom with 2 single couch beds in the living area. The overall look of the hotel is dated and could do with an upgrade especially the front lobby…. The chairs are extremely worn and not nice to look at! The pool area was clean and there was plenty of sun loungers for the amount of people for the hotel when we were there. The pool itself is FREEZING!! The heated pool was not working and we were told it would be fixed but I didn’t see any attempts? So I don’t know if that’s what they tell people. It’s ok for a quick dip Plenty of food choices even for a vegetarian and there was always different fish options and meat. The pool bar had the usual pizza and chips which was great for the kids. There were lovely restaurants just a little walk down from the hotel which were very nice. Transport to the main town was easy to navigate and only 10min walk to the bus stop with buses every half hour. Staff were friendly and the entertainment was ok. The bar was quick in serving and we enjoyed the drinks. It’s a quiet hotel and does the job if you’re just there for some sunshine, the loungers by the sea were perfect for relaxing with the sea air.
Hi folks could anyone tell me what the walk is like from the hotel to main strip and anyone an idea what price taxis are from hotel to main strip and a taxi from airport to hotel were out in may and looking to know weather to book transfers or not 😂 thanks all
Beautiful view staff above and beyond. Food amazing don't book AI if you expect 5* but this hotel definitely needs a higher star rating.
Liked spa.food lovely.
Beds not comfortable. Rooms very basic.hotel needs to be updated.
I liked the location and infrastructure of the hotel. There were nice facilities and good access to the sea. It was possible to rent bikes and play tennis.
There are stony beaches around, so you need to buy special shoes to enter the water. Lunch hours are not very comfortable because lunch finishes too early.
Bra mat!
Ingen uppvärmd pool! Gammalt dåligt, slitet gym!
rude staff
It was near the beach
It was a bus or taxi ride to get anywhere the buse does not stop at the hotel 15 minutes walk to the bus stop the food was basic & always just warm christmas dinner wad chaos everyone let into dinning hall together ques for everything & tables squashed together no entertainment for adults bar at night was uncomfortable marquee & very drafty definetly not enough staff
Room was ok, abit dated, no fridge, to keep drinks cold, evening entertainment was very poor, quiz, quiz, & it was only until 10,15pm, then nothing, Abit far out needed to get public transport into town or a taxi, Food was repetative, ok if you like pork, pasta, every night, Xmas day evening was an absolute carnage, they opened the restraunt doors & let everybody in at once, cued up for 20 minutes only to find the food only aired, needed to warm it up in microwave, not a very good selection. My other half cut himself shaving and left blood stains on the sheets, cleaner came in nxt day and just remade the bed & not changed the sheets, small table did,nt get a wipe down all 7days, Evening entertainment shack was cold, no heating, had to sit with coat and scarf on all night, very draughty
Persona fantastica veramente
A somewhat dated but beautiful hotel with room for improvement, yet perfect for a week of relaxation. Friendly staff, good food and a beautiful location right by the sea.
The Royal Monica hotel was fabulous. On check-in I was given an upgrade. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to facilitate guests. From ensuring food was available on late arrival outside of buffet times to a packed breakfast on early checkout. I would go out of my way to be a return guest with this hotel. Can't recommend them highly enough.
Lovely place to stay, huge room, lovely pool and beachside areas. The food was lovely, lots of choice. I would definitely go again.
After reading some reviews I was a bit concerned but the reality was very different. We had a large and spacious room overlooking the promenade and lovely views. The room was clean and serviced each day apart from Wednesday and Sunday. Some of the decor etc was a bit 'tired' but it wasn't a problem to us. The food was very good with a variety of options. More than happy with price and value for money. Location is a bit far out of Playa Blanca but taxis aren't expensive or if you're fit enough a lovely walk along the promenade. Good sized pool and friendly staff.
-The view and the garden were beautiful. The free sunbeds right on the beach (quite a lot) few steps from the room. (FYI: This beach is rocky and very dangerous to get into the water next to the hotel but there are beautiful sandy beaches not too far like Flamingo beach and the Playa Blanca). -The large suit with the big terrace with ocean view on the 2nd floor. - Great bathroom with huge bottle of shower gel/shampoo. -Beautiful promenade. Great for walkers with breathtaking views. -Large restaurant with terrace with all kind of tables for everyone. Soft pillows and peaceful nights. - Pleasant music at the reception area and great excursions organized by the receptionists (I can really recommend it. Special thanks to the receptionist Mr Jesus. )
- The BED: was incredible hard. It felt like I was lying on a stone bed and it really hurt my hip bones while trying to fall asleep. They need to do something with it. - The POOL-BAR: No vibe at all. The DRINKS: very poor, Mojito feels like a lemonade only. Lots of sugar in it, lack of alcohol. The whisky feels like they mixed it with water. The evening "entertainment": I have traveled a lot but it was the poorest I have ever seen in my entire life. Sorry to say but it lacked of every professionalism. The huge reflector lamps are just awful. All of them directed to the audience face which makes you feel immediately very discomforted. Such as the very bad quality laud-speaker boxes. -The EVENING SHOWS: The poor bar accommodate it. I even would not call it show at all. Don`t expect any dance or singing show. There is none. Neither a good music. The whole pool bar need decoration, good lighting in the evening and much much more to make it really a pool bar in order to entertain the people. Mostly elderly people are in the hotel but it should not mean that they can not get a lovely show with good music and fun even if it not a luxurious hotel. The only good thing at the pool bar was the great view from it to the ocean and the other islands. The pool bar guys are great but the drinks are not. - The whole hotel needs a bit of love, some flowers at the reception area to make you feel welcome. - The bad smell of the elevator. (It really needs a refurbishment, the rubber flooring of it is full of with humps.) - The towels smell fish! Even a freshest ones. Especially the large bath towels. Not a pleasant feel to use it after taking a shower
What a beautiful hotel the staff cannot do enough for you Angela at reception greets you when you arrive with a lovely smile we arrived very late and they put on a supper for us Muhammed in the restaurant was great always smiling and Jesus's at reception couldn't do enough for you i would definitely go there again xx
We had a brilliant time here. Gorgeous location- a bit out from the town but we got a taxi in and walked home. The staff were suoer friendly and the entertainment staff were absolutely fantastic. My 4 children adored it. The hotel is a perfect size for us. The pool was perfect and there was always a sun lounger no matter what time of the day you arrived to the pool. We loved the food especially the paella. We had a fantastic holiday
No good for anything bad sevice and not nice food no clean at all building look like going callaspes any day no safe to sit on balcony no warth for what we pay for all inclusive .and far for any shopping . Dirty every where . Wifi is worst not right good no power at all
This a lovely 3* hotel! As a couple looking for a quiet break, the location was perfect. The setting is stunning, right by the sea and that private beach with he alcoves is an absolutely incredible place to relax. Don't expect Playa Blanca on your doorstep here. It is a walk away, but a very beautiful walk! Bus stop only 10 mins walk max, and the buses will take you into the centre for very cheap, and very quickly. The hotel is simple but clean. Everything they offer is clearly written on the hotel description so don't be surprised that there is no tea/coffee, and mini fridge in room. Staff are very lovely and helpful! I need to mention the lifeguard who did not stop working to clean and maintain the pool area. My husband and I watched in awe at his hard work. Same goes to Anton and we think Leo? These two from the animation team were brilliant they swapped between languages to ensure inclusivity and they worked so hard to provide activities. I read a few reviews complaining about the entertainment being in french only.... We found the opposite, they provided it in at least 4 languages! The food is good and varied. No complaints. Remember this is 3*. Yes, I could be renovated but then our holiday would cost twice as much! Clean, friendly, quiet, beautiful location. We will be back!
Writing this before we leave in the morning, what a fantastic location we have had a room at the front with a sea view and what a view totally fantastic ,the entertainment team are great and always looking for something to do, bus stop is a 10 min walk and straight into playa blanca 1 euro 40 The food is not of a five star its a 3 star so dont expect the gourmet, it great and the choices are adequate Would highly recommend, as we are thinking on returning next year Only thing really needed is coffee and tea facilities in the rooms great holiday 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is a 3 star hotel so don’t expect the Ritz. However it is set in the most beautiful surroundings. We booked a sea view and I can honestly say it was the best sea view we have ever had. The rooms were spotlessly cleaned daily by the maid, all the staff including reception, restaurant, bar staff, and especially the entertainment team were really friendly and welcoming. They work so hard but always have a smile.. The entertainment team were always on hand with different activities all day long and into the night. They deserve a special thank you! Only downside is the lack of a fridge and the air-con only works in the bedroom. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Location is quite a bit out. Okay if able walk and no kids. 15 min walk to bus stop. The pool area spacious and room average views amazing. Very disappointed no fridge in room or kettle iv never had this before. Has be the worst all inclusive ive had. The pool bar which food looked good couldnt eat because swarms of flies on food nothing was covered and even after people saying nothing was done. So dispointing. Even main reaturant area was full of flies. We had eat out everyday was such a turn off. They could of had music at pool no atmosphere. For what paid very disppointing.
I stayed at the hotel in the end of September 2025 and it was a really good stay! :) The rooms are a bit outdated, but that's fine for me. They were clean and in the end I do not come on holidays to spend the days in the room. :) Only thing I was really missing in there was a fridge. The hotel itself is really nice, quiet. I enjoyed the beach with the private places, always plenty of free space. The access to the sea was ok, maybe better to have shoes, but it was great. The highlight was the food - always plenty of choices and very well prepared! Especially appreciated the Spanish/Canarian options. Good job and compliments to the chef! :) I did not have much encounter with the animation team. One guy from Acttiv, Brasilian one (sorry I don't remember the name), was nice and friendly and I saw him doing some activities. The rest was not really that nice, never smiled nor greeted anyone, which being a former entertainer myself seemed pretty strange to me. In overall I had a great stay and would definitely return to this hotel. Thank you! :)
We really enjoyed our holiday. Rooms were very clean. We had nice sea view. Food was very good. Staff very friendly. We arrived after 10pm and were given a nice cold buffet meal. Early breakfast can be booked if you are leaving early in the morning. Only thing was if you have any disability or not able to walk far the nearest bus stop is a fair distance and if you wish to access the sea for snorkelling it can be tricky.
