Sehr freundliches Personal, ein schönes, großes, sauberes Zimmer in einem charmanten, alten Haus mit tollem Ausblick auf die Highstreet. Auch das Bad war groß, mit vielen Ablagemöglichkeiten. Das Essen im Restaurant war ausgezeichnet, angefangen von der Suppe bis zum Dessert. Es gab einen kostenlosen Parkplatz und man war sofort in der Stadt oder am River Tweed zum Spazieren gehen. Es gibt sehr schöne Wander-und auch Fahrradwege in der Gegend. Wir werden sicher wiederkommen.

Ce n'était qu'une étape. Nous ne sommes pas restés à Peebles. La chambre était grande et la literie à ressort mais bien dormi. Petit déj copieux.

The warm welcome. The hotel is excellent value for money. We ate in the evening and were very impressed.

We were allowed to check in early and safe parking in the yard was provided for our motorcycles. The bar serves proper local ale and in the morning the Scottish breakfast served was excellent. The high street was only a few steps from our room, perfection in Peebles.

Location is good for Town centre

Dated , Run down , Bathroom was horrendous, Smell of mould . Whole place needs upgrade .

We were right at the top of the hotel which was fine for us but if you are not keen on stairs this room may not be for you. Old sach Windows were a bit draught at night.

We have been several times before but this time we found that things had become a bit tired .We did not sleep well as beds and pillows past there best . The shower was very weak hardly any water pressure at all just a dribble. .

The staff gave me the wrong key at check-in which resulted in me almost not being able to access my room when I arrived back later in the evening. When I did finally manage to get the right key (thanks to a maintenance worker who just happened to be around) there were dirty clothes inside left by the previous guest. I asked for a refund but the manager just wanted to barter with me instead. He offered a 25% discount, which I did not think was satisfactory. I would not recommend staying in this hotel.

The accommodation was a bit dated but clean, tidy and met our needs. The staff were friendly and approachable. Breakfast was good. Overall very good value for money.

The bed could do with a mattress topper as slightly uncomfortable.

The hotel location was good.

The hotel is extremely tired looking the bedroom, bathroom and hallways are very run down the walls were very marked in need of decoration, the carpets are very dirty and floorboards in hallway were damaged and loose. The hotel smells were unpleasant it smells of stale food and cooking. The Breakfast choice was very basic with no fruit , roll choice or pastries, only kids small yoghurt were available. There is no reception desk or area in the hotel just a card navhkbe in a corridor. The staff member never asked if my stay was satisfactory on check out. Would not recommend ti anyone or stay again.

The hotel was lovely from the outside and the public areas, i feel that when accessing the rooms it let itself down a bit and really needs some tlc to meet the same standard, breakfast was fantastic and the food from the restaurant was outstanding, if the rooms and corridor access were just a bit fresher this would easy be a 3 star hotel

as i said the through corridor to the rooms needs some tlc and the rooms need a wee bit of finishing touches, ie laminated signage stuck on the wardrobe with blu tack, maybe put in a frame on the desk? or an info folder

Cheap and cheerful hotel. Was well located in Peebles ideal for tourism There was a parking lot at yhe back of the hotel and direct access to your room from there.. Room facilities .OK. The breakfast was lovely and well presented. The staff were pleasant and professional.

The window in room directly viewed a house and there was a path along the back that crossed the window..There were only curtains so for privacy it was necessary to shut the curtains.. Maybe blinds/nets would help?? The toilet roll hold was I a crazy position if your on the toilet..

Great breakfast and location; room was comfortable - we had read the reviews so knew to expect the negatives Good parking and regular bus into Edinburgh from very closeby. Though Peebles itself has much to offer.

As one reviewer said, the decor and furnishings were 'tired' - eg avocado sink; all floor coverings could be replaced; no 'privacy' curtains at window, which people walked past. There also seemed to be no reception desk.

I was under the impression that Booking.com had taken payment at the time of booking. I checked policy to discover that was not the case. I paid in the morning before checking out. I regret not finding alternative accommodation before visiting the theatre. The room had not been cleaned after the previous guest. Prior to my visit to the theatre, I lifted the pillows to put nightwear underneath and discovered dirty tissues. The spoons beside the teacups were dirty. There was a sticky substance on one of the teaspoons. I went down to the kitchen and asked for clean spoons. The hand towel in the bathroom had red makeup on it. This is not the standard I expect in a hotel. I visited Peebles often, but will avoid The Green Tree Hotel in future should I stay overnight. Anne Kelly

We liked the location and we found all the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the choice of food for breakfast.

We found the building and furnishings slightly dated and perhaps in need of a coat of paint/new carpets.

Couldn't find reception when we first arrived, I was wondering around downstairs until I bumped in to someone. Then when it came time to leave i had the same problem handing the key back. The beds were really uncomfortable.

Food generally excellent, breakfasts very good and my scrambled eggs on toast delicious. Service was very good and when we realised family room was in the attic we were immediately offereda change of room which we accepted. NB this was not stated on booking.com when I made the booking.

When we arrived at the hotel the member who greeted us staff recognised that we were both disabled. She immediately changed our room to one on the ground floor. Throughout we were met with kindness courtesy and civility. The staff are a credit to the Hotel. We certainly look for ro returning in the future. ps The food is great!

Stanza ampia, pulita e accogliente con letto matrimoniale e 2 lettini singoli e angolo con bollitore, biscottini e bustine di tè e caffè che ci hanno rifocillato dopo la passeggiata sotto la pioggia. Family room is great, it is at the top of the hotel on its own so no neighbours and nice and quiet. Breakfast was lovely and tasty, great value.

The floor was quite creaky and the bathroom window didn't open but minor issues.

The shower was great, there was parking round the back and it was in a great location. The breakfast was lovely too.

There was no menu to know what was on the breakfast. The waitress didn't seem very approachable.

The hotel is basically in the middle of the village, so close to everything you need. Sunday lunch was very nice but a bit overpriced at £22 for one course. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean.

There were no privacy curtains at the window and it was overlooked by the house next door and a few people from the hotel walked past and could have seen in. The shower cubicle was very small and the shower control and shower head had mildew on it.

We stayed overnight at The Green Tree last weekend! We were attending a wedding locally. We found our room comfortable and spotlessly clean, with everything we required. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast was first class, everything fresh and tasty. Would not hesitate to recommend!

In need of some TLC, but that seemed to be happening as new carpets were being fitted.

Called in to the Public Bar of the Green Tree Hotel two nights ago following the Sian concert at the Eastgate Theatre opposite. This is exactly what a local should be. A well-stocked bar and a friendly soul behind the bar make this place highly popular with locals at excellent prices. And, best of all, spirits sold in 35mm measures and not those ghastly 25mm measures sold in far too many places. (The Sian Gaelic Concert was another brilliant effort from those lovely ladies Ellen, Eilidh and Ceitlin - and, of course, their highly talented accompanying multi-instrumentalist, Innes White).

Bathroom very tired and need an update, had masking tape on the toilet to stem a leak, shower was very poor standard, rail broken and left on the wall, the shower tray had mold around the edges, the room was in need of an update as its very tired and worn, but overall it was adequate for the night we had.

Das Hotel ist schon ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Aber dafür passt die Ausstattung. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkomnend. Das Frühstück war sehr gut, neben dem angebotenen typischen Continental Breakfast wird das deftige wunschgemäß zubereitet. War sehr gut!

De buitenkant van het gebouw ziet er goed uit, als je binnenkomt is het een beetje verouderd. Het kan overal wel een opknap beurtje gebruiken. Personeel echt super, het eten echt top. Goed ontbijt. Omgeving ook mooi, dorpje leuk. Vriendelijke mensen, goeie pubs en winkeltjes.

De bedden zijn springveren matrassen, die voel je wel een beetje, harde randen, je past er met tweeën in, niet ruim twijfelaartje. De douche is klein straaltje zit weinig kracht op. Tapijt smoezelig is aan vernieuwing toe.

Staff were great as was the breakfast. However, the hotel and rooms are very tired. The carpet is worn and all the walls are scuffed. The paint on the doors has worn away from years of use. The beds were comfy and we had everything we needed but it just needs some TLC , that would make it worth visiting again.
