Very loud at night with the music from the bar and outside as windows are very thin. Closed windows but didn’t make a difference from when they were open. Room was warm but was a fan in the room, wouldn’t have liked to stay in heat of the summer.

Lovely room, friendly staff and breakfast looked great. Very central so very convenient for everything.

Room was very noisy - air conditioning unit on the wall outside the room was on all night and made it very difficult to sleep. Window wouldn’t close either which didn’t help. Bathroom wasn’t very nice. Low water pressure

Great location in the centre of this small pretty town. The room we stayed in (Room 1) was lovely and large, with a bay window overlooking the front on the hotel. It was nicely decorated and the furniture was of a high standard. The bed was nice and comfy with clean linen and white fluffy thick towels. Plenty of good quality tea, coffee and biscuits. Large TV, mini fridge and fan were great bonuses.

The shower and pressure of water was very disappointing and the walls in the bathroom need some updating and cleaning because of the damp and mold. The shower needs bleaching. Underneath the bed needs a good hoovering! Sorry, just being honest.

Awful avoid ! Very dated mould in bathroom loose tiles, left a day early couldn’t stay much more it’s a room above a very busy pub with karaoke on weekend was ridiculously loud in room to the point the telly was on max and still couldn’t hear it was a nightmare! Didn’t bother going down for breakfast as felt it was Minty , far to overpriced for the facilities wouldn’t stay again was looking for a peaceful bank holiday weekend and it wasn’t the place to stay , the one plus is the staff seem friendly and once being able to settle and sleep the beds are comfy but that’s all, needs a full renovation

The noise from outside, including traffic but mainly rowdy customers, also the music that was played until 23.30. Decor could do with an update.

The staff sadly wasn't too welcoming, didn't ask how my stay was... They had coffee machine at bar, but make it very clear 3 and a half minutes was too long for them to go and make it.

There where no windows in the room you had to open a door onto a public access metal staircase or use a fan that was on the room

Beautiful location, quite literally sun, sea and mountains. Breakfast team were particularly friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely (stick to fried or scrambled egg) and a sausage was provided for our dog, very dog friendly establishment, lots of dog friendly shops, eateries and bars around. Fantastic towels, big, white and fluffy.

Cleanliness was not great in the shower, lots of built up grime on the shower head (had to clean before I'd stand under it) shower could have done with a good bleach top to bottom. Toilet seat kept sliding. That said, everywhere else was clean. Very tired, needs a bit of investment, wallpapered bathroom ceiling is coming away. Rooms didn't feel particularly secure, so we carried valuables. Room was excruciatingly hot, there was a huge fan, but no draft from it whatsoever, blew my mind, how a working fan created no breeze at all. Very noisy upstairs if you go to bed before the pub closes and the karaoke is on.

Het onthaal was vriendelijk, we mochten de bagage vroeger plaatsen dan de inchek. Ruime, nette kamer. Het personeel is behulpzaam en vriendelijk. De locatie is prima voor uitstappen, wandelingen en bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving. Het avondeten in het restaurant is een aanrader.

Location is excellent, bang in the middle of the town. Whilst no onsite parking, there are car parks all over the place...so no problem getting a space, even in August. Breakfast was included in our booking, and it was nice. Good cooked breakfast, with a choice of items. Cereals and toast available too. Only basic coffee or tea available (so don't ask for cappuccino or lattes). Staff helpful and knowledgeable. Cheap beers always a bonus. Comfy kingsize bed. Room no6 is very big/spacious.

Our room was very dated decor wise. Also quite dusty in places, cobweb on the ceiling and the fans were really dusty too. Couldn't open the bathroom window, which meant it got quite stuffy in there after using the shower. The room doors need to close better, incl the bathroom. And our room door looked like it had been punched a few times with peeling paint & dented wood ! Not the best to see upon arriving. Noisy Saniflo toilets aswell, especially at night ... not good for the others who were staying there. Lightning was quite dull in the bedrooms.

My room had no window only a fire escape door in the heat not ideal as a women staying alone. The wifi didn’t work and no way to fix it.

Thus had got to be the worse experience of our lives. There was poor amenities, we where on the top floor , the heat was unbearable, paint flacking off bathroom door, the shower trap was blocked , hence dirty filled the tray, breakfast was the worst we have every tasted everything was dirty the table sticky and flues everywhere. On a brighter note the staff where very helpful and friendly. Give this place a miss, you have be warned. Avoid at all costs

No window in the bedroom. Had to keep a fire door open all night with an external staircase. Shower door didn’t close. Room door didn’t close on an automatic fire door mechanism. Fire lights not working on landing or bedroom and escape staircase blocked by a chair. Breakfast was the worst ever and flies all over the dining area. Sticky tables!!! Doors absolutely filthy and the whole thing was just not great. Total lost opportunity.

The location is great as easy to walk to the beach and around Barmouth. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was good.

The room only had a fire door exit and no window so had to keep the door open at night.

We had requested via 2 phone calls for our room to be moved to the first floor from the 4th. This was all agreed over the phone and confirmed verbally. When we turned up, they denied ever having spoken to us, but as my partner can not manage 4 flights of stairs we were not able to stop. They did assure us we would be able to claim our money back but then refused. We did ask if we could transfer the dates to later in the year but our emails are being firmly ignored

Don't think I slept all night we was in room 5 lucky it was for just one night... The room which has a door in the room onto the external fire escape to the ground floor was not secure with a window above that was impossible to shut as it had swollen up and was jammed half way open Stained curtains an electric shower that can only be turned on and off from an electric switch out side the bathroom as the button on the shower is broken you are advised not to do this with wet hands the bathroom is in need of a refurbishment paper peeling and a bit grubby then to top it all off and external extractor fan from the pub kitchen I guessed was kicking on and off all night long not far from the window that you could not close to drown out the noise couldn't wait to leave terrible

The hotel was in a good position in the town close to beach, shops ,restaurants local attractions and walks .the breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful

The room was on the top floor with a very steep staircase, the carpets on the stairs and our room were dirty ,needed a good clean which was odd as the bathroom,bedding etc was spotless. There was no window to look out of ,the only light came from a firedoor that had the glass obscured.

Paying for parking, leaving/ entering via bins & dirty laundry etc, when pub was closed, kitchen closing earlier than scheduled.

My companion suffers with heart failure and has a assistant dog. She could not make the very steep stairs up to the top floor. I was not informed of this when booking. So I have requested a refund, as we needed to find another hotel to stay for the 2 nights, which cost me a lot more money. So a refund is required

Even though the rooms were above a pub, where you needed to access the door to the accommodation through the bar area. A lift would have been better. Also part way up the stairs the fire door was so heavy and stuck on the carpet it was a hazard.

It was dirty. The hand rails up to the room were dirty & greasy. The carpets were sticky. I would not get a shower in the bathroom; mold everywhere, even in the shower tray. Didn’t stop for breakfast because I thought the whole place was dirty and smelly. We did not feel comfortable with the security of the room, struggled closing the door and the lock was loose. Will never stay there again! Very disappointed, especially booking it through your Booking. Com. I didn’t sleep because the noice was horrendous outside the room.

The Tal Y Don was in exactly the right place for all the shops & the beach. The staff could not have been more helpful nor friendlier. The facilities were top-5. The full English breakfast was excellent.

A brilliant place. Wonderful en suite room. We had the Japanese decorated room, so comfy bed and great shower. Very friendly and chatty staff. Beautifully clean and cosy. Fantastic breakfast!! Perfectly situated for shopping and beach. Very good price too. Thank you!!

Conveniently located with all amenities nearby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good indeed, freshly cooked to order-special shout out to Lynn who cooked the food and 'legs' who was the waiter. Both were very attentive to our needs as we're the owners Joy and Dave! We would definitely stay here again! Thank you all for a lovely stay!

The room (9) could do with some modernisation, I describe it as quirky! It was clean and the beds were comfortable however. Ideal for a few nights away!

We booked this hotel for a weekend getaway to Barmouth. When we arrived we were taken to our room by a member of staff, he then told us that people previously have had problems with the room door not being able to lock but that it should be okay - it was not. The door wouldn’t lock or even close properly and looked as if it had been booted in. The room itself was spacious and with the bedding looking clean enough but the smell was horrendous. The furniture was very old and ant wacky, some of the furniture was even a rattan garden furniture set. The carpet looked like it needed the rug doctor a few times over. After realising the door wouldn’t lock/shut we approached staff who then brought a handy man from the bar to try and fix it. The only way of fixing it would’ve been a whole new door. They then proceeded to tell us they didn’t have any other rooms for us but could place us in a mini flat next door that is used as an air b&b. With it being quite late we went to the flat which was pleasant enough and stayed there. We were told we could get back into the hotel for our breakfast that morning but couldn’t they it. We decided to go for a walk and when we returned all of our belongings had been taken and moved back to the original hotel room with our knowledge, with the door still being broken. We later found that some of our belongings (expensive face creams etc) had been stolen. We were told by the handy man that the door could not be fixed and that there were no other rooms for us so we’d have to leave. Luckily enough there was a cancellation at a gorgeous little hotel down the street that we managed to get in to. Overall, our experience here was shocking. Although, the staff and the handy man were extremely friendly and did try to fix the door etc. the only option was for us to have to leave the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed in Barmouth several times with my autistic child. Unfortunately, this hotel did not meet our expectations. The only positive aspect of our stay was the comfort of the bed.

From arrival, the service was unacceptable. The initial greeting from staff was unprofessional, and there was clear inconsistency regarding check-in times despite prior confirmation via Booking.com. We were instructed when we arrived at noon to return at 2:00 pm; however, upon doing so, the room was still not ready. This lack of organisation caused avoidable distress for my autistic child.There was a continued lack of basic communication. No instructions were provided regarding the use of keys, which resulted in confusion and the risk of damaging the door lock. Checkout procedures were also not explained; we were left to leave the key unattended at the bar and exit via a back door, as the main entrance was locked. Standards of cleanliness and maintenance were poor. Carpets were visibly dirty, electrical extension leads were placed unsafely around the beds, and a kettle was positioned directly beneath the television, presenting a potential hazard. Windows in the room did not open. Additionally, I observed cups being washed in bathroom sinks rather than being properly cleaned in a kitchen setting. Breakfast provision was below an acceptable standard. The bar and restaurant areas contained a significant number of flies, and the seating was worn, stained, and in need of replacement. The only positive aspect of our stay was the comfort of the bed. Overall, the experience was disappointing and did not meet reasonable expectations for hygiene, safety, or customer service
