Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The breakfast was excellent, all cooked fresh to order. Hot tea and coffee readily available, with plenty of cereal, toast and yogurt available. Fantastic hotel, great drink selection behind the bar, live sports on TV and very accommodating staff. Rooms clean and well presented, with good selection of hot drinks ready to make in room, plus biscuits.
Nothing, excellent stay and would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.

Location and amenities were great. Clean, large rooms with good facilities.
Its location and the facilities. The staff were excellent and accommodating.
Great location. Pleasant room. Large bathroom and hot shower. Matching bedroom furniture. Nice bar area. Staff were helpful. Parking on site.
Breakfast doesn't start while 8am so I had to miss it to get to work. Bar closed very early which was a shame. One of the pillows was very lumpy.
Good tea and coffee options in room, good bed linen, which was clean
Not very clean in room
La struttura è bella esternamente ma all'interno risulta un po' decadente.
Prezzo eccessivo per la qualità di alloggio e colazione.
The location was excellent free parking outside the property excellent and the bar was very good the rooms were clean and the shower was very good.
Nothing very good
Location, breakfast. Free parking
Some parts were a little tired and needed a little tlc
Proximity to town centre
Attention to detail with cleaning and uncomfortable mattress
Clean and tidy, simple accommodation. Comfortable how what we needed
Very easy access to Malton and the A64. We stayed in Room 1 and it was very large with a comfy sofa. The breakfast is delicious and the lady that prepares it is very kind and helpful. It is a more basic accommodation but had lovely views from this particular room.
A little more detail needs to be paid to the dusting of the room. There is a bit of road noise, but earplugs block it out. If you are a light sleeper, this may worry you. It quiets down at night.
Perfect for three nights stay to visit my sister Maldon. Central location, clean, comfortable, excellent breakfast to order. Friendly staff, especially at breakfast.
Everything was just what I needed.

Nice room, good service, tasty brekkie

The outside looked lovely, unfortunately the rooms were awful
The bedroom was awful, the bed frame stained and the showers seals black. It looked awful
Very good location and comfortable room.
Good B and B with bar on the edge of Malton's market square. Helpful staff, good breakfast, large room. Cyclist friendly.
Need to remember to fill up shampoo container in shower unit.
Comfortable room. Friendly staff
Breakfast was just ok
Friendly helpful staff
No food available only breakfast
Good location
Bit of mould and cobwebs in the bathroom .
Good location good room
Very friendly staff , breakfast cooked to order. Stayed in superior room , comfy bed, great shower , lovely views. Nicely situated just outside of town
The hotel is obviously trying to keep the heritage. Single glazed windows so a lot of traffic noise early in the morning being near the main road.
Staff were friendly & breakfast was delicious- we had the full English sausages were beautiful
Weren’t serving dinner at the property which was unfortunate . Can here all the traffic from our room , but the bed was very comfortable Expensive for what you get !
Breakfast was very good, and the bed was comfy; tea and coffee facilities were good.
The toilet was dirty; crusty yellow could be seen at the back of the toilet did not sit on it. The shower needs updating; there was some black mould and rust around the drain in the shower, so I did not use it. It made it stressful; I would not come again. Very noisy from road traffic. The person who signed us in was very matter-of-fact and uninterested. The whole place had an unclean smell to it downstairs.
Great location
Nothing really
We loved the first impression of the building. We were welcomed in a friendly, very efficient manner. Our first impression of our room was - this is lovely. We were given room 2. It had a lovely view over the countryside. The room was well appointed, very clean, and the drink tray was well equipped (better than most). We went out for our evening meal as they don't do food in the evenings. Back at the B&B we enjoyed a drink outside at one of several picnic tables. The bed was comfortable and we both slept very well. Breakfast was very promptly served. There were cereals, orange juice, apple juice, tea and coffee to help yourself to. We had a full English breakfast which was hot, tasty and plentiful. Staff again were very friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay here again, next time we are in the area. It was good value for money.
Nothing
The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and happy to help. The location is ideal.
There is no denying the building wants a bit of t l c.
Great location in this charming town. Lovely welcome on arrival, nice, clean, comfy room. Great breakfast! Really helpful staff.
All good!
Great location just outside town, beautiful building with a cool bar & terrace with amazing views.....highly recommended
They should probably service the rooms every day when staying for more than one day....
Ideal location for where we needed. Had a beautiful view from the room. Our room was really nice with an en suite. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was really nice with a good choice. Cooked to order.
The car park was small but we were allowed to double park behind the owner. Which was nice.
The staff were friendly, helpful and of good humour ( eggs Benedict)🤣. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were amazing. The prices in the bar were reasonable.
Ceiling was in poor repair above the shower . Other Ear of the hotel would benefit from a little old.
The room was good, but could have been cleaner eg. mould in the shower.
The greeting at breakfast could have been better i.e. an explanation of what there was and who would serve it. For the price one would expect some fresh fruit or fruit of some type. I didn't complain, but the help yourself coffee was only luke warm. Although we did not want any toast, non was offered and I don't recollect seeing anyone having toast.
The breakfast was good. Our room was large and clean. Plenty o9f tea/coffee available. Staff behind bar were pleasant. Not far from centre of the town.
Door to a rear staircase standing open next morning for ages. Lots of stuff piled in there and a damp smell. It was not a major drama though.
Room was very comfortable and had shower gel/hand wash dispensers which were stocked up, good selection of different teas and normal/decaf coffee sachets and biscuits. Breakfast was nice and well presented.
It is a pub and there was a lot of noise until the pub closed. Not a negative for us as we took earplugs anyway. Car park exceptionally busy, nearest over night parking was the market place about 5 mins walk away as theres no restrictions on a Sunday mon to sat theres restrictions of 30 mins stop time between 8 30 and either 5 or 6pm.
Location, the cooked breakfast was good as cooked to order.
Mold in the bathroom (in the shower cubicle)
With great Transport links I loved everything about The Mount B&B. Debbie was so Warm, Welcoming and Helpful. My room even though a Single was Big,Clean,Light and Airy. All staff were lovely, nothing was too much.Even when my TV remote wasn't working Lewis kindly fixed it. The Breakfast was lovely and there was a good choice, great value for money.I will definitely be back.🙂
Very noisy traffic wise, but to be expected as it's on a main route through Malton.
I love that it wasn’t modern and has a lot of character and charm. It was a short 5 minute walk from the train station and easy to find. It was also a short walk to the many independent shops. The breakfast was amazing and made to order.
Nothing
Great bar, friendly staff & nice rooms Seems like it’s just been refurbished, with a few bits to be finished off
A bit tight on parking spaces
Breakfast was good
Noise from bar kept us awake. Room was very hot/stifling no fans so a terrible nights sleep. Room wasn't very clean and decor needed work. Very shabby. Had booked for two nights but prospect of staying another night made us leave early.
We could self check in early which was very handy as we could then leave our bags after getting off the train. The room was spacious, with a good choice of tea/coffee. Breakfast was fine. Very close to the town centre.
Cleanliness could be improved. The grout in the shower was black with mould and there was dust on the wall behind the cabinets. The tv was very small. Disappointing and surprising that no alternative to cow's milk was offered at breakfast, as apparently "nobody asks for it". It is very easy these days to buy large packs of oat milk sachets, which last for months. I'm sure many people would appreciate it so that they can have a cup of tea and /or cereal with their breakfast, despite being lactose intolerant. A little expensive for the services offered.
Overall more than happy, breakfast exceptional, the lady serving breakfast was really friendly and efficient 😄.
Our room was okay comfy and tidy loads of hot water. The hotel could do with a general tidy up.but once again couldn't praise the lady at breakfast enough 10 out of 10.
very good hotel
nothing
family room had a separate door to the single room which helped with privacy
the bathroom light was on a sensor so came on brightly even if you got up at night to go to the toilet
Friendly staff. Clean comfortable room. Breakfast lovely. Good value for money
Location
Staff was rude and racist
Location next to food Talbot court and market square. The cooked breakfast was good. Not much choice of fruit, cereal, eggs or continental options.
Very dared, cheap furniture and fittings. Tiles missing from the bathroom ceiling and holes in the walls. No air con or fans.
Good for parking! Room and facilities good, as was breakfast!
Location, parking, breakfast and value
Tired,
The location is excellent and handy for exploring Malton. All within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and bed was comfortable. The shower was good and powerful too. Breakfast was made to order but limited continental options.
We stayed during the heatwave and no fans provided or offered. The rooms were very hot. I couldn't access the wardrobe (one handle was missing and the other just came off in my hand) but it was no big deal for staying one night. Staff were sparse upon checkout.
Location was great Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us
Staff were really helpful and friendly, breakfast was great. Bed comfy and clean.
Bedroom was comfy but could do with a deep clean on door frames and in bathroom in the cupboard underneath the sink. Because of the heat had to leave bedroom windows open so heard the traffic on the road outside.
Very good bfast
No Lift
A nice enough place for 5 blokes to stay at but needs some TLC. Staff wonderful. Great location for town with big car park but again grounds etc need tidying up.
Just needs some love.
Breakfast was brilliant and the staff was very friendly. The bar man was friendly too and helpful with the local area
The traffic noise in the room was bad, the window rattled and the door clunked every time people moved downstairs. The door locked played up too.
Dinner the second night was good. The location was good
Restaurant and bar was closed the evening we arrived. The carpets were stained and the bathroom smelled musty/mouldy. The property felt dark and dingy and in need of some TLC.
Breakfast was ok.
Clean but very shabby.
Didn't really interact with he staff, but they were friendly. Even helped us out with out slightly late arrival, and seemed very understanding due to the circumstance. The facilities were sufficient, as one would expect from a hotel, exceot we had to fill the kettle from the shower because it was too big for the sink - very small sink, not a typical wash basin. That said, it was a nice kettle.
There was a lot of dust that played with my partner's lungs, and the sheets had staining and were very itchy - that might've been the detergent. The windows were old and 1 didn't close fully, and the other didn't even open. There was only a tiny bar of handsoap that looked old and no body/hair wash (4 tiny bottles my hve been them, but I couldn't really see). Luckily, there's a shop or 2 not far away, but still. For the price, should be included. Lastly, the bed was 2 single mattressed zipped together. There was a gap between them, and they'd evidently been used for many years with the way they bowed, so they were not comfortable unless you sleep in the middle of each mattress.
Given early arrival info that let us into the building but then had to search the building and call the Mount for help. Bed was big and comfortable
Surface clean but very tired decor. No bottled water, faulty hairdryer, leaking shower cubicle meant drenched bathroom floor. Old scruffy clothes rail for clothes.
Location. Free car parking. Nice bar with decent beer at a good price. Very nice bar meal on one night of my stay. Very chatty and helpful barman. Good shower and comfortable bed.
Room was basic and could have been maintained better. Despite being there four nights my room was not ‘made up’ in the day between nights. Bed not made up. Towels not changed. Tea and coffee tray not replenished some days. Breakfast choice and presentation needs some serious attention given how much I paid £495 for 4 x nights.
Clean room ideal for a night away
Staff were excellent and breakfast fabulous
The rooms were nice and spacious and comfortable, the TV was a little temperamental but otherwise ok. Breakfast was quickly cooked and tasty.
The air vent in the bathroom was filthy and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time and the shower head really needed to be replaced. The shower gel/soap dispensers were hard to get soap out of, they really need to be positioned higher up. I'm not used to traffic noise and the hotel is sandwiched between 2 busy roads and so I was awoken very early due to the sound
The staff, especially barman/breakfast chef and the breakfast waitress.
Needs refurbishing but it’s up for sale.
Perfect location, comfortable, Really good staff and lovely breakfast
Parking was an initial issue. The room wardrobe doors wouldn’t open. The ensuite sink plug stuck and caused a blockage.
Excellent Breakfast
The shower / bathroom would benefit a little paint.
Good location and great view. Bar is relaxing. Breakfast was lovely.
Needs a little updating
Prima hotel voor een kort verblijf om van daaruit de omgeving te verkennen.
n.v.t.
Everything was excellent, had a wonderful stay, everyone was friendly, helpful and polite, would recommend to family and friends, thank you.
There was nothing we didn't like
Great stay, booked in last minute, everyone was super welcoming, lovely and knowledgeable
If I’m being really picky it could do with a lick of paint
Location staff very helpful. Size of room.
Road noise.
Good location
Some issues with room but resolved immediately by helpful staff.
Everything was great

AMAZING staff, super friendly, couldn’t do enough. Great location
Just the super heavy doors 😅
I can’t say there was anything about it except very disappointing
Friendly welcome from Mark when we arrived. The room was adequate, a lot of diy was evident. Beds comfortable. Plenty of choice for breakfast and the lady who served us was also friendly and chatty.
Quite noisy on Saturday night.
The staff were so friendly. Deborah especially impressed us!

Nice old property.
Communal areas looked tired. Needs an uplift. Also the shower in our room was REALLY hard to switch on and off.
Good location with plenty of parking
Pricey for what it is. Unfriendly breakfast staff.
Great location, lovely building
Tv needs updating, only terrestrial channels. Sink and shower slow to drain. Decor could do with a refresh.
This place has the best location in Malton.
Unfair to judge on a one night stay.
Noisey, but it was a pub!
Friendly and clean
Nothing
Had lots of character and was in a wonderful spot, the views were beautiful.
Comfortable bed. Great location and the breakfast was very nice, although 1 slice of toast and 1 pat of butter and 1 cup of coffee were a bit stingy. I couldn't fault the cooked breakfast though.
I'd have preferred to be asked if I wanted any more of the above.
excellent steak and ale pie for dinner. Large bedroom but bathroom and shower showed their age. Easy walk into centre of Malton, great views
shower
Easy access and easy check out..Safe and cool environment
None
The property is well located for accessing Malton and the surrounding areas. The staff were really helpful when we were struggling to park due to the car park being full.
The rooms was very tired, the carpets are old and look very dirty. The wallpaper in our room was peeling, there were crumbs all over the floor and on the seats, the remote control for the TV didn’t work. The single pane windows rattled so loudly in the night that I didn’t get any sleep. The small single room for my son didn’t have a lamp and looked very unwelcoming- he described it looking like a prison cell! Whilst the staff were really lovely, when we checked in the man who greeted us couldn’t tell me where our room was saying it could be the first floor or the top floor!
Good
Mattress and pillows
Food was lovely room was perfect and staff couldn’t do enough
Close to where I was working, will definitely use again
Friendly easy good location
Bathroom not quite 100% Loo seat broken. Couple of hairs …
Good value for money. Location was brilliant. Short walk from station but also had plenty of parking at front of hotel. Very clean, good breakfast, friendly staff, great atmosphere in bar. Would definitely return.
It was all great.
The location
It was overpriced
Staff are polite
Room heating
Location great for the town centre. Assistant manager (manager) very helpful. Lady who looks after breakfast, excellent.
Other than the bathrooms which have been renovated, the rooms are pretty much past their sell by date.
