Loved the location. Being surrounded by nature was serene. Cute studio with more than enough amenities with a very spacious bathroom. The heat was high during the day so thankfully Mr Penny gave us an additional fan upon request. The trees helped cool down the temperature at night. My wife and I had wonderful sleeps.
We had one of the smaller rooms but as we booked a studio that’s expected.
We loved the location and how quiet it was. Like a little jungle oasis with a soundtrack of insects and birds. So peaceful. Natural simplicity is my cup of tea. Loved talking to Penny and hearing a bit of his story and the history behind the place.
I'm not an AC person, and can tolerate hot temperatures with a cold shower and a fan before sleeping, but my partner is a bit less tolerant. He had a bit of a tough time but was still able to sleep! In retrospect I would ask if there was a stand up fan available for use - in order to compliment the overhead fan. A pretty minor thing "to not like'.
Normally I tend to stay in all inclusive, boutique or star resorts with a more traditional luxury feel, so this stay was completely outside of my comfort zone. However, it ended up being one of the most memorable places I have ever stayed. Mr Penny was absolutely amazing from the moment we arrived. He gave us such a warm welcome and took the time to share the history of the property and the surrounding area, which made the experience feel even more special and authentic. Although the property is tucked away in the depths of the jungle and we were greeted by a baby gecko on arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and well thought out everything was. My biggest concern before arriving was mosquitoes, but I did not get a single mosquito bite during the entire stay. The mosquito nets on the windows, the fans providing cool air, and all the little details showed how much care had gone into making guests comfortable. You would definitely need a car or some sort of transportation to reach the beaches as the priority is almost at the end of the island, it is however walking distance from Ricks Cafe which is famous for its cliff-diving. The outdoor shower was such an amazing experience and made the stay feel truly authentic and connected to nature and Jamaica itself. The water was always beautifully hot, the property felt incredibly safe as it is located within a gated community, and once inside you feel completely secure. Overall, it was a peaceful, unique, and unforgettable stay that I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for something different and genuinely special.
The only thing I was disappointed about was not getting the chance to experience the restaurant, as I had read so many amazing reviews about it before arriving. Unfortunately, because we visited out of season, it was closed during our stay. Mr Penny proudly told us he is a ‘jerk master’, so we will definitely have to return during season to try his famous jerk for ourselves. Aside from that, there honestly was not anything I disliked about the stay overall.
The location was excellent,very quiet.
Gate access at nights
The staff, location and room were great! Thank you so much for having me. :-)
Sehr viele Mosquitos. Man braucht unbedingt ein Mosquitonetz zum Schlafen! Wie hatten welche dabei, also alles gut.
Alles super gut
Beautiful scenery
Bed was infested with bed bugs and mites which caused skin rashes and bites. Kitchen was very cheap and basic facilities. Mosquito netting was provided and cheap slow ceiling fan was merely cosmetic. 2 hard single beds were pushed together for couples, and the shower was basic constantly over flooding. Cleaners were OBVIOUSLY tired and reluctant to change bedding and sweep daily. Sound proofing would have been beneficial due to close proximity of cabins... Management Constantly Undertook Loud maintenance work with Burning down of WOOD etc...
Loved the warmth and hospitality of the owners. Loved the lush trees and beautiful flowers. Loved the semi-detached and detached cabins dotted around the property. Loved the jerk chicken & jerk pork we had at the restaurant (well seasoned and cooked to perfection). Loved the choice of salads, especially the potato salad. Loved the peace and tranquility of the whole place.
Äußerst nette Gastgeberin! Schöne, ruhige Anlage im Westend. Gutes Frühstück!
Tolle Lage, süßes Apartment. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt
Location
No hot water, cockroaches, mosquitoes
Atmosfera rilassante
Connessione a tratti instabile
The inn focuses on nature. There’s no AC in the rooms but they’re quite cool being located in the shade of all the trees. Even can get a bit chilly at night. Some rooms had no tv but I didn’t mind. Some of them do but just ask. Very lovely place. Would come again! Inga & Penny the owners are fantastic hosts.
The nature and the cottage itself
Every morning the employees would be talking loud and watching video’s, at 7 in the morning. You can hear everything through the cottage walls and windows, because the windows are made from wood and can’t close fully, which you also don’t want because the place does not has AC. There were no curtains on the bathroom window so I had to put a towel over it because anyone could have seen me in the bathroom showering. I also felt like I was the only one on the property together with a couple, it felt really weird because there are a lot of cottages, as if something was not quite right. At the end, I was not asked about my stay and if I enjoyed it, so weird. Not worth it for the price.
The nature and the works were friendly i like there
Nothing
The place is amazing if you wanna relax.
It is very quiet, and the cabins are good—not luxurious, but comfortable. They are surrounded by nature, which I love. You can cook at least breakfast. There is no beach nearby, so you need a car to get there. The owner is a German woman who is really nice. Rick’s Café is a bit tacky, but it’s close to the hotel and even within walking distance. All the beaches are private, and you have to pay at least $10 to get an umbrella.
It doesn’t have beaches nearby But I love the hotel so nice to relax
The place stands in the middle of a small palm tree jungle. We were fully surrounded by the nature , which allowed us to rest peacefully and recharge energies after an hectic year. The place is clean, quite, charmful and close to most Negril attractions. Definitely coming back again soon!
The environment and the room clean atmosphere The staff and food great . Its like a place you would not want to leave ,due to the comforting ,welcoming feeling you get from it👍❤️🙏🏽
Pros: We liked the area and the nature around the property. It’s a beautiful property. We liked the service received. They were very resourceful amidst the hurricane aftermath. They communicated well regarding the effects on our stay (when the power would be off and the water- resource saving/recharging). They upgraded our rooms upon arrival when seeing we were travelling as an extended family. Our plans changed following the hurricane. We were unable to get a refund, so after speaking with the owners, we were able to arrange for our party size to change amidst our plans changing, and to book an additional night to accommodate our changed plans. We had to leave something behind to receive after due to our changed plans and distances, but this was not an issue. They were very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are equipped with mosquito nets! Loved that!
Cons: Bathroom facilities are older. The toilet was stripping in one of our bathrooms and the bathroom for one of our rooms didn’t have a step up/divider for the shower into the rest of the bathroom. So the bathroom was wet constantly. Towels are small, no extras available to borrow for beach. So might want to travel with your towels if this will be needed. Unable to get access to a cot for our child when requested, so my husband and I struggled sleeping with all 3 of our bodies on the double bed. Overall a good few days there with my family. Quiet. Good space between apartments for privacy.
loved the property
No AC
The property was majestic
Ceiling fan is great but a standing fan in addition to that would have been lovely
The place is very secure, and the owners are very nice
The location
Absolutely everything! I was so wonderful!
Can’t think of anything I didn’t like
Super nice, peaceful and calm Place with amazing Hosts
Great location. Close enough to all the attractions of Negril, 7 mile beach is a short drive, Ricks Cafe is walking distance, but far enough away to be secluded and relaxing. Love the cabin! No air-con so expected the cabin to get hot, but it was lovely and cool at night. Bug grilles on all the windows.
Booked this accommodation especially for the attached restaurant - Miss Pennys. Arrived to find the restaurant closed - like CLOSED. It's not been open for months and is not likely to re-open, but is still in the description of the property, including the menu! Disappointing.
It was so beautiful. Loved walking the paths amongst the trees. Felt so peaceful. Loved having my morning coffee on the little patio in the rocking chair. Listening to the sounds. The cabin was spotless. So clean. The little kitchen had everything. Microwave, coffeemaker, kettle, toaster, hotplate, fridge with a little freezer so I could store ice cream. Anna who worked there was so nice, always smiling and helpful with everything.
The only thing I missed sometimes was an AC , because I had hot flashes, but the big fan in the ceiling was just fine.
The property is beautiful and peaceful with so many birds and butterflies. The layout of the cottages is very well considered - you have privacy but also community if you want it. Penny was a wonderful host - very considerate and knowledgeable about Negril, its flora and fauna and its unique history. I will definitely be going back to the Lighthouse Inn 2. Also, Negril has so many food options - from fine dining to street food - it truly is one of the best places to visit in Jamaica... and West End is the best part of Negril.
I would have loved a lounge chair on the verandah so I could lounge outdoors and nap, and somewhere to hang my damp towels and swimwear.
The owner was a liar the places smell old No ac and out side is 110 at night no fan nothing in the bush
The over change me to sleep out side with no water or back up lights people was walking a round with guns.. and they have a small gay community there
Location was near to restuarants and leisure activities . Beach parties at nights.
First night i arrived a little late so i got what i needed first thing i. The morning.
Very spacious and tranquil
Everything was perfect
The Hospitality
Traunhafte Umgebung und wunderschöne Cottages
Breakfast was excellent. The staff was great. Inga and Mr. Penny where marvelous and very attentive we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The room's are clean and have everything needed to be comfortable. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and clean.
We had an amazing stay with Penny and Inge. It's a lovely and calm location. Beautiful garden and sweet people. A very special perl in Negril!
The property is truly a peaceful tropical paradise. It is a very secure property. I lounged hours away, napping in the hammocks, and took outside showers in nature daily. The owners are fantastic people. The food is outstanding. If you are a nature person, this is the spot for you! I'll definitely return. Catching a route taxi is easy and it's only $200 jmd to get into town.
Wifi reception was weak in cabins, but you could get a stable signal sitting outside or at the restaurant (also outside but covered). Cabins are duplexes and are not soundproof, so you will hear every movement and sound your neighbor makes if occupied. Also, there is no AC in the cabins. Even in March, it was pretty stuffy inside in the daytime, hence afternoon naps in the hammocks (which was awesome)!
The property was gorgeous. We couldn’t believe it when we arrived. It felt like we were in a tropical paradise.
Genuinely the only negative was being without AC. But that’s something we got used to after a night and Mrs Penny (the owner of the property) lent us a great fan for our stay!
Aunt Penny and her husband was so polite and caring. She almost felt parental. She took us shopping and made sure we had the best values and even help make sure we counted our Jamaican money correct. She gave excellent service, checked on us every day, brought extra fans. She and her husband out did themselves with the attention to detail they; provided.
I was a little warm ,at times, but the night and mornings were perfect!
Property was quiet, clean, easy to find. I loved being surrounded by nature. Ms Penny is the warmest person you’ll ever meet.
This is the perfect location for a little get away, the facility is very eco-friendly and blends perfectly with nature.
Improve the speed of the internet.
Good bed, kitchen . Had an extra fan!
They were building a new tree house, so there was noise, at times. Dogs barking in morning .
Great stay at Westend, east of the main road, no sea vie but jungle view. Different bungalows depending on your needs. Friendly and helpful German-Jamaican couple as host. Restaurant available onsite with Jamaican Jerk dinner on Saturdays. Walking distance to cool areas on the cliffs do hang out and go for a swim.
Could offer salt/pepper and a few more appliances in bungalows with a kitchen.
Everything was comfortable and intimate
As a couple we had to push 2 beds together. It'll be better if it had 1 bed and a microwave. We couldn't reheat our food properly
The garden
The location was perfect, very beautiful chalet in nature, a real change of scenery! Nature is peaceful and lush. The children were able to play quietly in the gardens. The property is well maintained. Ingue and Penny are always present, kind and ready to help. We eat well in their restaurants and the service is impeccable. The cleaning is done every day and the towels are changed which we liked very much. We had a problem with the stove and the problem was quickly solved.
We had a big sewer rat in the bathroom, we also found his excrement in our room, he tore the package of our rice. We are in nature we understand that there are lizards, cockroaches and insects but still not a sewer rat! The owner killed him in the bathroom but the bathroom was very badly cleaned and there were pieces of glass everywhere which is very dangerous. It ruined our stay and we had to leave when we were on December 23 and all the other establishments displayed full without forgetting the price, it had cost us a lot!!! The owners reimbursed us for the last 2 nights that we had to spend only. We contacted Booking who told us that we were entitled to be reimbursed for our entire stay but Ingue refused. Too bad we keep a very bad taste of our stay because of this incident!
Inge and Penny are wonderful hosts, so welcoming and friendly. The cabins are great, situated among the trees with the birds and the butterflies. There is a restaurant on site, but it is also only a short walk away from other bars and restaurants (Rick's is 10mins walk).
It is quite a long walk (5km) or taxi ride to get to the beach or the town.
Everything about the Lighthouse Inn 2 was amazing. Wonderful food, friendly staff, Inge and her husband were a treasure trove of information and stories. I'll be back for that banana orange spread 🤤
The host and her cooking
I did not like staff cleaning my room while at the beach. I was hoping for more privacy
Amazing owner sharing very valuable tips and always available for a talk 💚
The owners Inge and Penny are a very dedicated and lovely couple who take wonderful care of their guests. The property is a dream and a model of sustainable building in harmony with nature! There are many projects and also rare animal species that feel at home here. In the evening, we were able to watch the crabs on their migration. Our house was wonderful, with a gorgeous terrace and the most beautiful bathroom of our entire stay in Jamaica. A highly recommended accommodation, we really enjoyed our stay, were able to recharge our batteries and had some peace and quietness from the hectic life of Jamaica's tourist business.
The kitchen could be a little more extensively equipped. It is virtually impossible to prepare more than breakfast here. I realize that the restaurant wants to make money, too, but the first few days of our stay there were problems with the water supply in the region, which is why the restaurant was closed and we had to go eat at the surrounding restaurants, where the food was alright, but at absolutely exorbitant prices. Unfortunately, Jamaica is massively overpriced compared to, for example European islands, so in my opinion, you should at least be able to cook for yourself (if the accommodation offer states that a kitchen/kitchenette is included) in order to be able to afford accommodation and more activities instead.
Nice location at the far end on Negril. Set back from the road and quite. Walking distance to some small bars and nice restaurants
Each room needs a stand up fan to blow air across the bed. Because some nights it stays hot
Nice clean close to Ricks and the cliffs. Great value!
Nothing
A slice of heaven on earth. So serene and tranquil. My kids and I enjoyed our morning walks.
No AC
Everything! The staff, the guests, the food, the garden, the doggies. Penny and Inge, the proprietors treated us like friends and provided so much insight into the culture, and fun things to do.
Nothing. It was perfect.
Gorgeous property with comfortable residences! Mr. Penny and Miss Penny are tremendous hosts! Everything is attended to with love and meticulous attention. Sébastien is a top shelf chef with international dishes as well as Jamaican specialties. Tanay and Miss Penny host the restaurant and take exceptional care of all the guests. I felt like they were all my family! I will be returning soon!
Couldn't have been better!!!
The entire space was beautiful and so cozy. We loved having a shower outside cause it felt like showering in the middle of the jungle. Inga and Penny were very warm and welcoming, during dinners or breakfast they would come to our table and chat with us. The food was very good, I'd say more on the gourmet side (so a bit pricier than other places we went to) but you could tell everything was homemade. Inga also recommended a few places to visit around like the restaurant Xtabi which again you have to drive to but its free to go down to their cliff and you can snorkel there.
If anything, I'd complain that the accommodation is "in the middle of nowhere". If you're expecting to get lost or have rented a car, this is great news for you but for us it meant we had to take a taxi every time we wanted to get somewhere. Luckily Inga recommended we take route taxis (which we already knew about) and advised they only charge 200 Jamaican dollars (literally £1) to drive you to seven miles beach. On the other side the famous Rick's cafe was only 10 minutes away by walking so we spent a lot of time there.
Beautiful setting. Great hosts. Mr Penny & Miss Penny (Inge) endeavoured to meet any request. Can't fault them!
Lighting in Soursop bedroom could be stronger. More space to hang/store clothes. Full-length mirror.
Loved the beds, setting ,staff. having fans and Inga brought me an extra one as there was no ac. We loved having a kitchen too!! TV was terrific to see the football games and tennis matches. Wifi too!! Hot showers!! Restaurant had a nice ambiance and variety of choices.
no ac, no place to swim that I could get into from the cliffs. Water pressure was low in shower.
Everything was be ok. Location and staff ( Inga and Mr Penny are beautiful people) are the plus.
The wi fi didn't work well and should be increased.
The owner greeted me when I arrived and I felt super safe and home. The owner gave me great recommendations for my stay. My assigned room was neat, and the area was lovely. I felt happy during my stay.
The mosquitos - I would have had repellent. Lights were not enough for me to see within the room.
Peaceful jungle secluded
Beautiful setting amongst tropical vegetation
Great place with authentic Jamaican architecture in the middle of the vibrant piece of jungle. The owners and staff are extremely nice and helpful. We really enjoy our time there and staying close to the nature.
The mattresses could be a bit better.
We loved our stay here. Our cabin was spacious and comfortable and it was the quietest place we stayed in Jamaica.
The hotel is a cab ride away from the Seven Mile Beach so if you want to be right on the beach maybe stay elsewhere: however, this does mean that the hotel is in a very quiet location away from the noise and bustle of Negril.
Beautiful and quiet with plenty to do and see nearby. Several dining options available in convenient walking distance. Penny and crew seemed to always be working to keep things in top shape. We were able to meet and spend some time with two other couples that were staying there. Everyone was warm and welcoming.
A beautiful and peaceful location. the accommodation was very comfortable, cosy and clean. The gardens were like being in a mini rainforest, so peaceful and lush. Penny, the host, was so very friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. it was so difficult to leave and I will certainly be back. if you are looking for a beautiful laid back place to stay in the heart of nature and yet near the beach and the other attractions Negril has to offer you will not be disappointed, probably the best place in Negril!
The stay at Lighthouse Inn 2 was amazing. The owner Penny is very friendly and helpful. The bungalow with terrace and calm nature around gives you so lot positive energy back. P.s.: A hammock for having a nap might make the stay even better
wifi didn't work all the time...
Natural environment was superb, nights were cool and quiet & no mosquitos based on mesh provisions on the windows. Kitchen and utensils were available for our use. We were well informed about what we could do in and around the area. Everything we needed was available & our host Leonie was amazing!
We like How close to nature it was, and the owner gave us the name of some good place to go to!
Nature and natural vibe Cool and cozy just a few meters from the sea
Well I did want the room to have AC but the surrounding trees made it rather cool.
To secluded. Lizards/geicos in my room….
Quiet, peaceful and lots of trees. Very secure.
The restaurant was closed.
