Nice setting
Room was tired and the bed mattress was old and springy. We returned at 10:30pm and the bar was closed up… on a Friday night!
Attic bedroom very small and two hot ,very very small windows that only opened about 50 centimetres ,not good on a hot day when we stayed there, booked 2 nights only stayed one night,we hated it
the vey small attic bedroom
Room clean and comfortable.Very good evening meal and very tasty breakfast.Owners/staff very friendly.
Great location for Whitby and the moors
Lovely old hotel, food was great and breakfast in the morning was perfect, staff were lovely too.
Shower not great and bed not very comfortable (for me)
We enjoyed our stay at The Forge, our room was on the top floor. It was cosy with a sofa so you could watch tv. There was coffee and tea facilities which was nice. Our room was clean and tidy and so was the bathroom. We had evening meal which the food was beautiful piping hot. We also had breakfast which yet again was very nice. The staff were really nice and friendly during our stay and they made us feel welcome. We definitely recommend The Forge and if we are in the area again then we would love to stay at The Forge again.
Nothing
The rooms were spacious clean and comfy, more than adequate. The food was absolutely amazing. The best thing was the staff. Helpful, friendly and efficient. Couldn't do enough for us. Lovely people. The location was quiet and pretty with easy short drive to Whitby.
Shower a bit dated but worked well. No ground floor rooms.
This was our 2nd stay , the hotel is spotless & bar/ food was really good too. All staff we had contact with were very friendly and helpful
Hotel cudnt change a thing .
Good staff, tasty food , quiet location, close to the park and ride in to whit
Nothing
Nice location, only 10 minute drive to the centre of Whitby, lovely staff and excellent breakfast
Nothing
Very welcoming staff great food we had Sunday dinner and breakfast we were well fed with good quality food. The room was spacious with a good modern bathroom. Ample car parking the village location was good not too far to drive from Whitby. Would return.
Everything was good
Excellent evening meal with family member, then a comfortable night's sleep and a hearty full English breakfast (with a nice view of the local sheep also enjoying their breakfast). I was very well looked after by the staff who went "above and beyond" in relaying information and helping with a luggage situation. The food at a family function later was also excellent.
Nothing really - basically all fine. A curtain across the small window might have kept the light out and prevented me from waking up too early, but that is the only comment I have.
liked where it was and the location was fantastic
very relaxing and felt very happy with the room
Amazing location, friendly staff
Water in the shower wasn’t very hot, the bed was okay but the pillows were terrible
Friendly helpful staff, brilliant freshly cooked breakfast, and excellent evening bar meals. The surrounding village was so peaceful, and the bus stop to Whitby a quick easy walk away. We were there on quiz night, which was great fun as we had befriended another 2 couples so even though we didn't enter the quiz, we did compare answers.
The place was closed for a couple of hours mid afternoon, so had we arrived 20 minutes later, we could not have checked in until tea time. The fan from the kitchen droned through our room which was a problem for me. The fan was only on during food service times, so we left the room when it was on which wasn't ideal.
The quiet location, friendly staff, cleanliness of the room and the breakfast.
Nothing
Lovely hostess, polite staff, great breakfast and moved up to the suite on our second night. Had a meal in the restaurant also and good value.
First night stay a little uncomfortable as bed we had was due to be replaced, rectified night 2 with a move into suite.
Lovely location. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble.
The breakfast was great and lots of it no problems the room was very comfortable we had a great time
All was good people was very pleasant no complaints
Our evening meal was amazing, 6 of us, everyone chose a different meal and everyone loved it. The steak and mushroom pie was so tender and tasty it was delicious.Breakfast again was excellent with good quality items in the full breakfasts. Our room was spotlessly clean and quirky
Only being picky, our room was on the top floor, would have preferred a lower room, but we hadnt asked for that so not a problem. Also we both banged our heads several times on the beams!, again our own faults for not being careful
Really friendly staff. Lovely clean spacious room. Enjoyed a full English breakfast, other options were available. Ate in the pub restaurant in the evening, plenty of choice and the food was good.
Nothing you dislike. A very enjoyable stay.
Thank you for an amazing stay. Fantastic staff, polite, friendly and helpful. Evening meal was brilliant with plenty of choice of the menu and the specials board looked great too. After the meal we stayed and enjoyed the quiz plus bingo(Tuesdays), good laugh and a few drinks. Room was lovely and relaxing, clean and well equipped, comfortable with enough space for two to feel rested. Breakfast was a good choice again , we went for the full english, which went down very well and set us up for a great day around Whitby. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Nothing
Breakfast was ok, no fruit or yoghurt though. Free parking Quiet area for sleeping.
Heavily stained, blood ,tea /coffee stained duvet. Dirty kettle. Dusty & rusty bathroom radiator, dusty room. Bed too soft & very low.
L'accueil à été très conviviale, la chambre spacieuse et décorée avec la touche anglaise. Plateau avec thé et café dans des jolies tasses anglaises. Le petit déjeuner anglais très copieux
Les horaires de bus très peu
Very good breakfast Excellent location and close to park and ride into Whitby
A more firmer bed would be good
Exceptionally clean with lovely rooms, we were very impressed. Good evening meal & breakfast. Compliments to the staff, very friendly & helpful.
We had no negatives
i booked in for 2 nights but only stayed for on night,
My wife and i are over 80 ,i have COPD and suffering with bad .back ,they put us in a room at the top of pub in the attic, the bed room was very very small, and the beds wrere two camp beds and very uncomfortable we did not sleep very well, and the very small windows one only open about 20 cent so no air was coming in and it was very hot in the night ,so we did not stay for the secend night ,i wound like a refund the the that night the 9 Aug will not be staying there again.
Comfortable rooms nice choice of evening meals very friendly staff good location for access to park and ride
Breakfast was disappointing only a small choice of cereal, would have been nice to have some fruit fresh or tinned and yogurt
Close to Whitby, friendly staff, exceptional food.
Nothing was to much trouble breakfast excellent
Nothing
Room lovely with nice lounge area and bathroom with bath/shower. Breakfast was very good. Location rural 3 miles outside Whitby.
Overall we had a lovely time. Only went to the pub bar once and was very quiet when we visited, but was a Monday evening.
Friendly Staff good breakfast, also the locals were welcoming in the Bar
Shower small and Electric with not a lot of power
The hotel was nicely decorated and the food was lovely. The artwork by the local artists was a nice touch. The bedrooms were a good size. The black room could be furnished with a mirror.
The beds were quite low which made it difficult for one of our party to get in and out of bed. It was not an issue for the rest of us.
Lovely local pub with very good accommodation. Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Our suite was on the top floor but very spacious and comfortable with lovely views. Good location with access to bus or Park and Ride.
Nothing to complain about.
beautiful location
the bed was very low & not that comfortable! The tv was very small but would have been better wall mounted
Het was prima voor een nachtje.
Bed was erg zacht en ik vind overal tapijt altijd wat vies, aangezien je dat nooit goed schoon kunt maken.
The view from the window was outstanding
Nothing
A beautiful village pub, in a rural location. Very clean in the public areas and our room was very clean and comfortable. Fabulous cooked breakfast, with a number of different options.
Is nit a didn’t like, but as we were there in very hot weather it would have been nice if there was a fan in the room.
Staff were helpful and friendly. The place had a great atmosphere. Breakfast was superb.
A few areas in room needed a dust over
The property was away from the main buzz of Whitby but a few minutes on a bus or taxi. Best of both worlds
The carpets needed a deep clean to freshen the halls and stairs. Needed a little tlc to get full marks.
Very friendly excellent brekkie and alwyn was good entertainment
Top notch breakfast included, absolutely beautiful. Staff were super friendly, a real home from home. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent pub, comfy room and great location out of town and peaceful.
Very minor gripe but the TV screen was the size of a laptop and was difficult to view...but then again we didn't go away for a break to watch TV!
Excellent. Ideal location. Staff were lovely . Food Excellent. Highly recommend.
Friendly staff, good food and excellent breakfast.
Great location friendly staff lovely breakfast
Nothing
Great location. Peaceful but close to Whitby. Very friendly and helpful staff.
It was only a short drive from the town centre. It has a lovely cosy pub and a great view from our window. The food was great as well as the staff.
We were in room 3 and my only complaint is that the bed was extremely uncomfortable, consequently we didn’t get much sleep.
The breakfast was very good and the lady providing it was great.
Cleanliness outside. Perhaps a good sweep around. The mattress in room 6 was horrendous …..we could feel all the springs. There were no hangers at all in the wardrobe and no lock on the bathroom door. Fire regulations were only partially filled in. The 9.3 rating so prominently displayed was from 2016!!! Too many stairs to room six and we had asked for rooms together. The rooms next to my sister in Room 1 appeared to be empty. Last but not least I banged my head on the low ceiling when trying to look out of the low bedroom window.
Food... excellent. Staff...... excellent. Room......good but a few tweaks would make it excellent too.
Noisiest bed I've ever slept in but it was comfortable. No toilet roll holder.
The room was lovely, with a fab view out over the moors. The staff were fabulous and friendly. The food was fantastic, both the evening meals and the cooked breakfasts.
Small things, but a few hangers in the wardrobe would have been really useful, as would a bottle of shampoo to go with the body wash provided.
Excellent position, lovely and friendly staff (Beth is wonderful!), great food. Definitely recommended if you want to explore Whitby and its surroundings!
Lovely atmosphere friendly, helpful comfortable bed, great service 👍
There was nothing we didn't like.
Location friendly staff great food
We had to come home
Really nice friendly staff, great food and a lovely atmosphere, immaculate room with all facilities you would require for a peaceful stay…

Amazing staff and very welcoming
What was not to like Staff excellent
?
Food is amazing, the breakfast is excellent. All round a lovely, comfortable home from home.
Super Frühstück
All meals including breakfasts were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Friendly and helpful staff, and good location.
There was nothing not to like. Taking into consideration the room rate, it was perfectly adequate.
This was our 3rd Visit to the Forge. 5 minutes drive from Whitby absolutely lovely, so friendly and the food is exceptional. A perfect escape from every day chaos !
Warm welcoming host.....great for overnight stay

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great food, clean, comfortable room . Great location.
Our visit was too short 😢
Great location, quiet village pub. Lovely clean room, very comfortable
Great location, 2 minutes from park and ride into Whitby. Great food, staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely peaceful sleep.
Very good breakfast and evening meal. Staff very accommodating. Lovely location
Really enjoyed our stay, was close to Whitby and the staff were lovely and helpful. The breakfast was spot on. Would fully recommend!
Nothing
A good welcome and efficient check-in to our clean, comfortable and well equipped room. Good evening meal and breakfast. If you get a chance, take a walk up the village to the church - simply stunning views!
Nice friendly staff
The room wasn't serviced over the 3 days except for the bin being emptied.?..The cleaner needs to do a better job...it was a twin room the beds were really rickety and mine sloped to one side ?.. The bedding had seen better days too.
Warm and friendly welcome. The village location was lovely and quiet. The food in the inn was good.
We booked the suite so the bed and the room were great. Very busy in the bar but we were well looked after by the lovely staff. We were there on a Sunday so the menu was a little restricted but the food was great.
As the room was on the second floor some help with the luggage would have been appreciated, but the exercise helped the appetite !
Lovely little pub
Nothing really
Beautiful location, very friendly staff, lovely rooms and an amazing breakfast
All good, no coffee in room only tea, a genuine mistake
The Forge is a lovely place to stay near whitby. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable, and the food was very nice. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would highly recommend 😀
A lovely typical village pub with excellent accommodation and superb food. Quiet, comfortable and friendly staff all of whom were exceptional. A great place to relax, unwind and eat very well.
Would be nice if there was a garden to sit in during good weather.
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely location and pub had a good atmosphere. Good breakfast and evening meals.
Food exceptional. Location spot on. Bus to Whitby takes about 10mins. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Lovely friendly local pub.
When i had to come home!
Very welcoming
The location, friendly welcome, excellent room and delicious food.
Stayed here before and was just as good this time. Good food, good company and a comfy room :)

Lovely warm welcome, friendly helpful staff, great food, good choice of drinks and a lovely comfy room.
Nothing
We had a very enjoyable stay for 2 nights at the Forge. The room was smallish, but clean and well decorated, with a comfortable bed and the facilities we would have expected. Access was available around the side of the building so we didn't need to go through the bar each time we entered or exited. Breakfast was very well cooked and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. we were informed that one of the nights was quiz night so there might be no parking in the car park if we came back late from our day out but there was ample parking nearby on the quiet village street so we parked there for an hour before moving the car back to the car park. The pub is in a great location for getting into Whitby.
Everything was fine.
Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Staff very welcoming, and the food was lovely.
They gave us an up grade, with no extra cost, food was lovely, shame lasagne was burnt , did offer alternative
All was good
Beautiful hotel, excellent food
Fantastic host Beth. Beth was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and the best breakfast I have ever had in a bed and breakfast. Cooked to perfection for me ( I’m a very fussy eater usually) . Will definitely return.
The only fault that my husband and I said was the low bed that we could have done with a better quality mattress. Oh and a toilet roll holder in the bathroom. Everything else was perfect.
Breakfast was lovely, staff friendly, bed comfy
Only thing, shower could have been a bit warmer
Excellent location, in a quaint village 3 miles from Whitby, close to park & ride. Staff very welcoming, friendly atmosphere in the pub. Food Excellent, especially full English breakfast 😋. Room very spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was great
Bedroom on small side. There was a crack in the sink in the bathroom. Shower was good.
Lovely location and friendly staff.Great cooked breakfast.
Nothing to dislike
The room was spotless with a really comfy bed and great views. We had a friendly welcome from Beth and all the team, and the food was exceptional with a good choice.
Nothing it was all great.
Cheery greeting when we arrived. Good drinks from the bar. Had evening meal and breakfast. Both were very well cooked.
I am elderly and the bed was very low down.
Good breakfast well presented. Location was good
The room was small and dated décor. The bed frame looked as though it might break at any moment. A lack of lighter bite food in the evening, sandwiches were advertised on the wall but only available for lunch.
Breakfast was superb and plentyfull.
Nice pub and rooms weee very clean. Rhe breakfast qas also well cooked and good quality.
We booked Room 6 which qas an attic room with a sloping roof and VERY small windows. Overall it was cramped and we wouldn't book that one again.
Lovely place So quiet at night time.
I know it's emergency light but bright light outside bedroom 3. So bright. Had to put towel on the floor.
Nice cosy pub, well maintained with very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food.
Everything was fine except our bedroom which was on the second floor with low sloping ceilings in the eaves resulted in banging my head a couple of times, but otherwise the room was fine, with a perfectly adequate en-suite shower room. For our next visit I would request a room on the first floor which wouldn’t have the same limitations
Nice building lovely view
