Wat een geweldige ervaring was dit verblijf! Prachtig hobbit huis met eigen zwembad, heerlijk ontbijt en diner. Binnen 15 minuten wandelen ben je op een gezellig strand met restaurantjes. De eigenaar en zijn familie zorgen er voor dat je echt in je eigen sprookje bent. Aanrader!

The property was absolutely gorgeous. So much attention to detail, spotlessly clean, and included very nice, good quality amenities (everything is provided even including toothbrushes, so no need to pack). There were snacks, tea/coffee and other refreshments included too. The very comfortable bed was carefully decorated with flowers for our arrival, which was incredibly beautiful and made us feel welcomed and special! About the outdoor areas, the pool was just blissful. Not too warm and not too cold! There’s also an outdoor shower to rinse off after a swim or wash away sand after a trip to the beach, and separate very large pool towels are provided to dry off then relax on the comfortable outdoor lounge chairs. The hammock was perfect for chilling to read a book. The private breakfast area is so nice as well. All outdoor areas were very well maintained and perfectly clean and tidy. They serve breakfast right at the villa, so eating was private and peaceful. The local food served was EXCELLENT. In fact, it was by far the best, most authentic food we ate in our whole trip - we went with all the traditional options and everything they served had a wonderful, home-cooked style that made us feel like we were getting a true taste of Sri Lanka. Delicious and fresh and clearly prepared with care and love! There are no restaurants/shops immediately around the property, and in Sri Lankan daytime heat the walk to the beach and restaurants near the beach is a little far. However the manager was always available via WhatsApp at any time and very very quick to respond to requests to call for a cheap tuktuk to go anywhere that you want, so the slightly isolated location was no problem at all. Actually, it was a lovely peaceful area with the calming sounds of nature all around instead of noisy vehicle sounds etc. So it was perfect in every way and we felt the quiet location was actually a significant bonus not a negative point.

This is a fairy-tale house where each and every detail is made and treated with love! All villas have an AC, comfy spacious round beds, good pillows, we slept like babies. Our villa had a swimming pool, the staying was super comfortable, quite and relaxing. And we had monkeys playing in the garden - such a show))) The breakfasts were made with love. My favorite ones were the pancakes with coconut and honey, made by the mother of the host - just delicious!!! Hirushan, the host, is a caring and very attentive young man. He makes his guests to feel like home and to get the best possible experiences in the south of Sri Lanka. It is not a beach front location, but the lagoon is just in few steps and by tuk-tuk you can be at the ocean in 5-7 min.

Beautiful property with your own private manicured garden. Very clean, a very cold fridge (rare in Sri Lankan accommodations), a huge, comfortable bed with mosquito nets and great air con! The owner was exceptionally helpful and made sure our stay was perfect. He even picked me up from hospital after I injured myself at the beach!

We really liked being in the wild, with passing animals. The room is quite big, so is the bathroom (with all necesarry equipment). The host is very welcoming and answered all our questions, had great recommandations for activities. The breakfast is original and very tasty ! We absolutely recommend to stop here for the beach, the animals, and the people.

We stayed in the Hobbit House with the private pool. It was amazing. Really beautiful setting and lovely to use the pool whenever we wanted to. Hiusham was very helpful and recommended good places for us to visit on the scooter he arranged for us.

It's a 20-minute walk to the beach - which is stunning but sadly is too dangerous to swim in

The location is great - you can walk to the beach and the lagoon but is very quite and out the way, there are also nice local restaurants around. There were so many small details which made the stay so nice and the breakfast was amazing! The hosts were so helpful booking tours or arranging transport.

Es war ein rundum wunderschöner Aufenthalt bei Hirushan. Die Unterkunft ist in dieser schönen Gegend einmalig und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Unser Gastgeber hat unsere Tagesausflüge, den Flughafenshuttle und alle sonstigen Wünsche organisiert, sodass wir uns um nichts kümmern mussten. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und das Frühstück war hervorragend. Vielen Dank für diesen gelungenen Urlaub bei euch. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Eine wunderschöne Anlage, in der es wirklich an nichts fehlt. Die Gastgeber sind außergewöhnlich herzlich, aufmerksam und stets bemüht, jeden Aufenthalt perfekt zu machen. Das Frühstück ist schlichtweg ein Traum – eine unglaubliche Auswahl, so reichlich, dass wir unmöglich alles probieren konnten. Jeder noch so kleine Wunsch wurde uns erfüllt, sogar die Organisation des Nationalpark-Besuchs wurde komplett für uns übernommen. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen ganz bestimmt wieder.

Alles war super! Das einzige ist, dass es keinen gemeinschaftlichen Pool gibt sondern nur einen der zu einem privaten Haus gehört.

It’s the perfect balance of a luxury feel with attentive staff and a great price. I would definitely stay here again, come here to get away from the stereotypical busy south of Sri Lanka. You won’t regret it if you love nature while being comfortable.

Hirushan ist der Name des Gastgebers. Er ist sehr nett und sehr hilfsbereit! Zum Geburtstag meine Frau hat er morgens extra einen Geburtstagskuchen überreicht. Ich habe ihn gefragt, wie es auf die Idee gekommen ist, Hobbit-Häuser zur bauen. Er meinte, er sei Fan der Sage und suchte nach etwas eigenes um sich abzugrenzen. Was ihm nach unserer Überzeugung auch gelungen ist. Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen ist eine nächtliche Tour zur Schildkrötenschutzstation. Eine Führung kann nach Lust und Laune bis zu 3 Stunden dauern. Man beobachtet dann Riesenschildkröten bei der Eiablage am Strand. Die Touren gehen abends um 20:00 los. Es gibt dort viele schöne Restaurants und den man lecker vorher essen kann.

The Igabara Hobbit House was everything we dreamed of and more! We were kindly upgraded to the option with a private pool and it was the best hotel on our trip (probably ever) and we will fondly remember our stay here. The owner had thought of everything from the detail in the beach bag to the amazing breakfast we were served in our private dining area every morning. It’s the perfect location for a quieter more peaceful beach stay in Tangalle with delicious seafood restaurants near by (Happy Beach Sea View Cabin Restaurant was our favourite). A must stay, 100/10 !!!

Tranquil location, very quiet, romantic and private - we had a perfect stay here during our honeymoon. Set in a stunning village, the hosts are incredibly warm and hospitable, they sorted out tuktuks and a kayak for us to explore the neighbouring lagoon. Fantastic food, we were left stuffed everyday!

My wife and I stayed one night at the Igabara Hobbit House in Rakawa, and it was such a unique and memorable experience. The hosts were very warm and welcoming, making sure we felt at home. They were attentive but also gave us our space to enjoy the experience. The surrounding area in Rakawa is beautiful as well, and being close to the beach was an added bonus. Even though it was just a one-night stay, it left a lasting impression on us. The room was a refresing in our journey through sri lanka. Not only is it very unique but also is it the most comfortable bed I've slept in so far. Its completely private as you can close your gate. The host and his family are each amazing people who really want to go the extra mile to make your stay unforgettable! 10/10 would recommend!

It is one of the best places we have stayed. Very unique concept. The bed was big. All facilities were available. Looks like a family business. Meals were very tasty and big portions. The staff was excellent. We wish them good luck.

We loved everything!!! From the moment we arrived everything was just wonderful. Hiroshan is such a great host - nothing is too much trouble. He brought us some delicious complementary lime drinks, arranged our onward travel to Udawalawe and gave lots of great recommendations. The Hobbit House is so cute but has all the mod cons you could want - fridge, fully plumbed indoor bathroom, TV, and the largest bed I've ever seen. It was our 25th wedding anniversary while we were there and they had decorated the bed beautifully for us. The breakfast in our own private dining area was stunning (they also offer dinner but we wanted to explore the local area). I loved hanging out in our hammock and we felt we had complete privacy (especially as we were in No 3 at the end). It's a 15 minute interesting walk onto the most beautiful Beach at Rekawa where you can find a number of restaurants and the Turtle Conservation Centre. We were sad to only have 2 nights here.

It’s just like in the photos! We only were there one night but it’s one of the cutest most unusual photogenic places I’ve ever stayed at. The attention to detail was outstanding. The young man who runs it is also the creative mind behind all of it including how the windows open, The cool front gate and the design of the buildings. He is a top shelf young man who,definitely makes his mother proud. And his mum is one seriously great cook. We had our meal in our courtyard with our mates who stayed next door and wow! Has anyone got an extra stomach I can borrow ? If you are an instagrammer or on your honeymoon or you like tranquility or, like me, you like to stay in unusual places then Igabarra Hobbit House in not to be missed. I’m crap at taking photos but the ones you see on booking .com or their website are not photoshopped to look better. It’s just a magical place. Also had super clean bathroom, vanity kits, tooth brushes, hair dryer, fridge with cold drinks , complimentary snacks the place is 5 star! And if you want to go for a swim the beach is walkable distance away although you can get a tuk tuk too. I’ll add more photos when I find them but mine suck. Just look at all the other ones and book your stay.

I think the only thing wrong would be if you didn’t go there cos I would feel,sad for you misssing out on staying in such delightfully creative stunning spot with fantastic food and hospitality!

Ons verblijf was heerlijk! We hebben enorm genoten! Het heeft onze verwachtingen overtroffen qua faciliteiten, service en beleving.

Een echt romantisch hobbithuisje van alle gemakken voorzien. Eigen privétuin met ontbijt plekje. En wat voor een ontbijt! Zeer uitgebreid! Varaan, eekhoorntjes en apen komen op bezoek. Op loopafstand van rekawa turtle sanctuary (beach), om in het donker onder begeleiding op zoek te gaan naar de schildpadden. Met restaurantjes op de route. En zeer goed geïnformeerd door de eigenaar via WhatsApp, als je iets nodig had, hoefde je het maar te vragen. Inclusief goede excursies die hij regelt (wij deden kayaking op de blue lagoon, en boottocht met gids bij Kalamatyia bird sanctuary).

Der Besitzer und seine Familie waren unglaublich freundlich und sehr fürsorglich. Die Poolvilla war wunderschön idyllisch und es fehlte uns an nichts. Das Frühstück und Abendessen im eigenen Gartenpavillion übertraf alles. Die Lage an sich war nicht gerade perfekt, aber nicht weit weg gab es einen Strand mit Schildkröten und Restaurants. Wir haben auch vom Besitzer viele Aktivitäten empfohlen bekommen. Wir würden es jedem weiter empfehlen, denn wir reisen schon seit über 10 Jahren und das war eines der schönsten Hotels in dem wir jeh waren.

The houses are gorgeous! They have every mod con. Your own little outside area with dining room, hammock and another seating area. There is also a new one being finished now that has its own plunge pool which would’ve made this a 10/10 for us if it had been available. The owner Hirushan is beyond helpful, sending all sorts of info to us about the accommodation and surrounding area. It’s 5 mins from the turtle watch at Rekawa beach too. The breakfast was lovely and to top it off they decorated our room as it was our 20th wedding anniversary while we were there!

Si quieres vivir una experiencia única, con un trato exquisito de todo el personal, un paraje de cuento y una relajación en plena naturaleza, este es tu sitio. Al lado de la playa de Rekawa donde puedes ver el desove de las tortugas por la noche. Los desayunos buenísimos. Cenamos muy rico también y bien de precio. Un sitio mágico para volver una y mil veces.

Prachtige kleinschalige accommodatie midden in de natuur met unieke hobbit-huisjes en tuinen die tot in de puntjes verzorgd zijn. De huisjes zijn prachtig ontworpen en de eigenaar en zijn familie zijn zeer toegewijd. Het ontbijt was heerlijk!

We zijn heel enthousiast maar de locatie ligt wat afgelegen. Vervoer wordt geregeld, maar is niet altijd direct beschikbaar. Jammer dat er buiten het ontbijt geen eten of snacks te bestellen is, er zijn wel restaurantjes redelijk in de buurt maar die waren heel rustig.

Felt like home. From the peaceful, cozy, romantic ambience to the mesmerizing aesthetics and perfect cleanliness, this was the warmest place we’ve stayed in a long time. We absolutely adored the food—super delicious with generous portions, and all at incredibly low prices. We had a lovely candlelight dinner, and also the breakfast in a treehouse in the garden. In the evening we watched Spirited Away on Netflix and couldn’t help but notice that the Igabara logo reminded us of Totoro. It’s just a 20-minute walk from the most enchanting Rekawa Turtle Beach. Though we missed the chance to watch turtles laying eggs at night, we were lucky enough to witness baby turtles making their first journey to the sea in the morning. We also saw many peacocks, and a variety of birds, reptiles, and even buffalos. This serene village is full of tranquil inland waters, including a large pond adorned with water lilies. There were so many thoughtful, free gifts: 1. A charming Igabara bag—which I loved so much. We filled it with the seashells we collected. 2. A minibar with snacks and drinks. 3. Extra compliments with both dinner and breakfast—dishes we didn’t even order but were joyfully served. The seashell arts, the wooden lamp, the scented tissue papers, and the large round bed still fill us with deep nostalgia. At checkout, we were even given a Tuk ride to the junction. The overall vibe and experience made us feel like we never wanted to leave. We would definitely stay again.

Location stupenda, immersa nella natura a 10 minuti a piedi da una spiaggia bellissima che la notte si popola di paguri e in cui si ha la possibilità di avvistare tartarughe che depongono le uova. Il ragazzo della struttura è stato davvero carino e disponibile e la colazione super! Consigliatissimo!

Tout était parfait. Franchement, c’était idyllique. On se serait crus en pleine jungle : un cadre naturel magnifique, dépaysant et apaisant. L’hôtel est idéalement situé, à deux pas de tout, tout en étant à l’écart du bruit. La plage était à 10 min à pied, vide. Le service était irréprochable : le propriétaire est à la fois disponible, arrangeant et d’une grande gentillesse. On s’est sentis vraiment bien accueillis. Cerise sur le gâteau : on a profité d’une séance de massage proposée par l’établissement… et c’était tout simplement le meilleur qu’on ait jamais eu.

Hirusham and his family are wonderful hosts. They welcome you in this extraordinary place and treat you with abundant and yummy breakfasts, as well as provide insight on services/facilities around (such as, massages, tours etc). The area offers a lot to see, from a 2 hours kayaking in the lagoon to the turtle nesting.

Nothing particularly, probably I’d provide more lighting in the rooms but that’s just personal opinion.

Mention spéciale au gérant, d’une gentillesse rare. Toujours souriant, attentionné et discret, il fait tout pour que l’on se sente chez soi. Son accueil chaleureux a vraiment marqué notre séjour. Un endroit unique, idéal pour se ressourcer. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter !

Le cadre est superbe : de petites maisons cosy au cœur d’un environnement verdoyant, avec chacune son petit jardin privé qui offre calme, intimité et déconnexion. L’endroit est parfaitement entretenu, la propreté des lieux est irréprochable, et la literie est d’un confort remarquable. Côté repas, c’est un sans-faute : petits-déjeuners copieux, dîners savoureux, le tout préparé avec des produits frais et beaucoup de soin. Mention spéciale pour les repas servis à l’extérieur dans une ambiance paisible, entourée de nature — un vrai moment de douceur. Les activités disponibles à proximité (kayak, plage tranquille, observation des tortues) ajoutent une belle dimension au séjour sans jamais casser le rythme reposant du lieu. Il est je pense difficile de trouver un endroit mieux que celui-ci. Tout était vraiment parfait avec une disponibilité et une gentillesse de toute la famille incroyable. La chambre est magnifique, avec ce lit rond très confortable. Un très beau jardin et une tonnelle privatisés à la chambre, idéal pour prendre ses repas et petit déjeuner au calme, dans un cadre de verdure.

Sehr saubere und gemütliche Unterkunft. Der Host hat uns herzlich empfangen und nebenbei noch ganz mühevoll unsere Tagestrips und Transporte organisiert. Zu Abend gab es leckere hausgemachte Sri Lankische Küche.

Foi incrivel! O quarto é super espaçoso, e é como estar a dormir na casa do hobbit. bastante confortavel, e com um pequeno almoço preaprado com muito carinho que nos prepara para o dia.

Unser Aufenthalt war einfach unvergesslich! Die Gastfreundschaft des Gastgebers lässt sich kaum in Worte fassen – er warpp unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir können uns den durchweg positiven Bewertungen nur anschliessen. Der Inhaber strahlt eine herzliche Atmosphäre aus, die sofort spürbar ist. Das Hobbit Haus ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet und zeigt das grosse Herzblut und die Leidenschaft, die in die Unterkunft gesteckt wurden. Die Unterkunft selbst war einwandfrei, das Zimmer geräumig und gemütlich, das Badezimmer tadellos. Es gibt keinen Pool - aber wer braucht schon einen Pool, wenn das Meer vor der Haustüre ist. Die Unterkunft ist ruhig und optimal gelegen, um fussläufig alles zu erkunden. Der Aufenthalt liess wirklich absolut keine Wünsche offen. Jeden Morgen erwartete uns ein grosszügiges und frischzubereitete Frühstück, das keine Wünsche offenliess Die Gastgeber waren stets bemüht, uns jeden Wunsch zu erfüllen und unseren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Wir können dieses kleine Paradies jedem wärmstens empfehlen und würden die Unterkunft sofort wieder wählen.

This place was amazing — we honestly have nothing to complain about! The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. The little hobbit house is beautiful, with so much attention to detail. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom (with all its amenities) was spotless and very well maintained, and the shower was perfect. Breakfast was also really good. The whole room was sparkling clean and made our stay super relaxing — it was everything we could have asked for!

Nothing to complain about this place

As comodidades são espaçosas, bem cuidadas e a cama é gigante. O anfitrião teve cuidado em todos os pormenores da construção e decoração. O pequeno almoço é variado e muito saboroso. A simpatia, atenção e ajuda do anfitrião Hirushan durante a nossa estadia foi muito importante.

Die Unterkunft ist mal was anderes und ist auf ihre Art und Weise ganz besonders. Vorallem der eigene Bereich/ Garten mit Hängematte und separater eigener Essensbereich ist einmalig. Das selbst zubereitete Essen der Mutter vom Besitzer war sehr zu empfehlen.

Ein Erlebnis!!!! RUHE pur, Familie mit viel Liebe und Hingabe! Zum Turtle Strand sind es 10 Minuten durch den Jungel, mal total was anderes, Menschen leere Strände, man sieht Turtle Babys schlüpfen, kleine Bars und Restaurants am Strand, wo man sie nicht vermutet! Es wird einem alles besorgt was man braucht, Frühstück der Hammer, wir waren total überrascht!! Luxus findet man hier nicht, aber Liebe pur !!! Danke für diese Erfahrung!!!

Geweldige plek, super lieve eigenaar die zijn werk met passie uitvoert en zorgt dat je verblijf top is. Als je in Tangalle bent en je wilt een bijzondere overnachting op een prachtige plek, boek dan zeker de Hobbit House want het is het absoluut waard!

Tucked away in lush greenery, it felt like stepping into a fairytale. The space was cozy, peaceful, and beautifully designed with so much charm. The hosts were warm and welcoming, making our stay even more special. A perfect little hideaway—we didn’t want to leave!
