Everything !!!
The location.
Nothing really but could you communal area could use some refurb.
I was up graded to a better room . Thanks . No bar or food options , so it's just a room . Bills cafe down stairs was very good . You can pre book with them a get a discount . Good location , no real parking but the castle car park cost me 10.50 for 20 hours..
Perfect location. Room was comfortable. Friendly staff. Definitely would recommend.
Unfortunately we did have an issue with the shower but room did have a bath that we were able to use.
Location.
Nothing.
Location, old and quirky
Cleanliness not good enough
Beautiful room right on High Street. Excellent location for being in the centre of Guildford. We enjoyed the walk along the Wey river which was very close to accommodation. Friendly staff who assisted us with everything we needed.
Lots of character, big bathroom
Bed was really soft. Great for some but I found it quite uncomfortable. Old building with very slanted floors! Fine for us but less mobile visitors might struggle. On premises bar was really nice when I first went to get drinks for our room. When we went to finish our drinks in the bar and return our glasses, the host said we had to literally return the glasses and leave, despite me telling them it was literally for 5 minutes before going to a party. I know there was a show due to start, but the bar was half empty so it felt a bit excessive and unfriendly after the warm welcome less than one hour earlier
Central location, friendly staff, big room, large double bed, bargain price, historic building Great breakfast in Bills
Room was a bit tired & let down by minor details Crawl under the table to reach plug socket for charger, crack in the basin, slapdash paintwork
Big room, clean, they gave us fresh water and linen on our second day, nice and quiet, close to all the shopping
Nothing
Our whole experience at The Angel exceeded our expectations. The young lady who greeted was very helpful and friendly and went out of her way to make our stay a great experience. The building had great character and a warm, cosy feel to it. Our double deluxe room was very comfortable with a super king bed, comfortable arm chairs and a huge bathroom with a walk in shower and separate bath. For the price we paid, it was exceptional value for money and anywhere else in the country, this type of room would have cost double!
I am really struggling to write something to improve or suggest to make our experience better.
Nice spacious original rooms
I don’t know where that fourth star came from, but the room was clean and spacious so that counts for something.
I’m going to sound like a Karen, but this wasn’t really a stellar experience. The mattress was so bouncy me or my partner would up when the other turned around. The fan extractor in the bathroom had its circuit and wires hanging from the ceiling. The safe didn’t work. The TV was not connected to the internet. No breakfast. There’s a Bill’s in the building but that opens at 9am so forget early departures.
Beautiful historical building in the heart of town.
Nothing
TV closer to edroom would be great, also a TV timer
Great hotel
Nothing
Lovely old hotel, staff were super helpful and even left us a bottle of fizz for our wedding anniversary. Excellent location, I would definitely stay again.
The bin men emptied the bins on the street at 4.30am but that's not the hotels fault.
Room was spacious and very clean, and water pleasingly hot for a bath
Slight problem with noise in street outside until 11am as various containers were loaded and unloaded, but probably only a factor of the room I happened to be in.
Location is fantastic , its unique and room was big and gorgeous
Excellent location.
Very spacious room
No WiFi signal in room, possibly due to location at back of hotel. Unable to cast to TV in room due to lack of internet
Sehr zentrale Lage
Great location, friendly staff, restaurant and the club in the same building are great.
Character and location in the high street
Nothing
A delightful family run hotel in a fantastic location. A clean and spacious room with lounge area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend
Big & clean rooms. Central location in the town centre. Helpful staff.
A spooky encounter!
Nearcthe high street
Breakfast should have been in with the price and a bath mat needed for the shower over the bath
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Bonus was the caberet bar in the hotel which we didn't know was there - it was great fun!
Rooms very spaced out but it is a large hotel - next time we'll ask to be placed closer.
Location and interesting design. Very spacious suites. Great location and really friendly staff
Nothing
Very clean and spacious- closer to amenities
gorgeous old building - a real piece of history. Room was spacious. Mattress was very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Bathroom and plumbing was old and tired - hot/cold water and water flow was very difficult. Bath was old and peeling paint on outside. Bedroom lighting was not good. TV did not even have mainstream channels and certainly no satellite or ability to cast. Our luxury suite had two giant front-facing bay windows. The room was super hot and we had two very small tower fans in there which did little to nothing. The High Street outside is super noisy at all hours - certainly from check-in until 11pm when pallets were onloading on the cobbles! A shop alarm at 5pm added to the tension! This meant it was hard to leave windows open (plus they are huge sash windows so take some effort) without being drowned out with noise, but with them shut the air was stifling inside. It was not a luxury stay at all. Rest of hotel is OK but tired. No facilities - just an original staircase/corridor and room.
This is a super cool historical hotel with tons of character. It’s so conveniently located, right on the high street with so many options for food and shopping and exploring right outside.
The only issue was that the room was quite hot. It was extremely hot outside, and the room did have a fan, but that really wasn’t enough. There was also no fridge in the room meaning we couldn’t keep food or cold drinks.
Excellent location, clean, lovely room.
The labyrinth of staircases was a bit tricky for someone of slightly limited mobility. Didnt detract from a really pleasant stay.
Nice central to town property. Clean rooms and attentive staff.
No complaints
location
window looked onto the allee, room felt a bit dark
Central location for everything you would want in Guildford. Staff were welcoming and very friendly.
Could really do with a small fridge in the room.
Location
Some areas bit sad and in need of clean/update
Comfy bed, spacious room. Welcoming staff.
Messaged a week ahead of my booking advising we were bringing a dog, messaged again on the day for the same info. On arrival this had not been recorded and our allocated room did not allow dogs. Had to wait while this was sorted. Hotel was very hot, hard to cool down the room Coffee machine in room, no coffee pods to make use of Window panels all painted shut so could only open one window to get some air.
Very historic and interesting property. It’s location is perfect for staying in Guildford.
Nothing really, it’s a bit of a maze inside but once you figure it out it’s a great place.
Het gebouw is een plaatje. Echt oud Engelse stijl.
Lots of character
Would have preferred a king size bed instead of a double
Friendly staff. Good sized room with good facilities.
Noisy on street late into the night and early in the morning. Had to have windows open due to temperature. Slightly awkward shower over slippery bath
Nice room, great spot in the centre of town and friendly staff.
The shower was a problem. Rain Head shower and very hot water in a very slippery shower stall is a recipe for disaster. Ended up having to use the hand held shower over the bath which was not ideal.
The staff was very helpful. It’s very atmospheric old old Tudor building.
Pretty tired building which is a confusing maze of hallways. Ugly windows hardly open. No elevator.
Good room, great location, reception staff were lovely and ever so helpful when we couldn't get connected to internet. They searched for a shower cap for our room but no joy. Having said this, they brought me a pair of disposable slippers as a consolation prize🙂
No shower cap's in room, so, due to fixed shower head, we had to have a bath instead of a shower. Staff didn't know where disabled parking spots were in close proximity to the hotel but we found them and informed the hotel for future reference. They were very grateful. We had a lovely stay, regardless and would return again to stay there.
Great location. Lovely historic house
Location and history
Staff as always were very nice and helpful. Location is the best in Guildford, in the middle of the High street, close to main Restaurants and Shopping. Size of Rooms
A full-time porter is badly needed to help with luggage, especially since the hotel has many stairs and no elevator. The property lacks proper air conditioning. Relying only on fans makes the rooms uncomfortably hot during the summer season.
It was quirky Staff friendly, great location
Nothing
Great location
Breakfast wasn’t good.
Staff are helpful and professional. Location is excellent. Rooms are comfortable and the historic building is lovely.
Nothing.
Mooi klassiek gebouw
Gedoe met badkamer
Great position on the high street. Friendly staff and easy check in/out. Building had lots of character. Great shower!
Our room was right at the top and back of the hotel - I wish we’d upgraded.
Our room was fabulous. We had a junior suite overlooking the High Street. Very comfy indeed.
Lovely helpful staff. Good proximity to town
No air conditioning. No fridge in room No mirror near a power point to do my hair
Brilliant location
N/A
Central Guildford location, historic building, spacious suite, staff were friendly and helpful
No one on reception when we arrived, waited 10 minutes for someone to come. Room was hot, no aircon
Location is good
Great location,very comfortable.
Location was outstanding
No fridge in the room
Breakfast not offered, noisy location, room not cleaned properly on 1st day ...this is not a 4* hotel
Noisy area, for the price it should include breakfast...furniture shabby for a 4* hotel...tight with coffee pods and biscuits...cleaning lady useless
very lovely and historic house, cosy junior suite with a nice little living room, everything prepared for tea and coffee in the room, friendly welcome
the wifi was not working properly and the Main Street was extremely noisy during the night. Probably better to ask for a room facing the inside...
Reception staff were exceptional. The room was clean, smelt amazing and had everything we needed including additional heaters.
Breakfast arrangements were strange and the restaurant 'Bill's ' didn't really understand why we had paid £20 each but were then given a gift card for £40 to use. We thought it was £20 pp for a set breakfast. In the end, this wasn't enough and we ended up paying another £13 on top. In reality, we could have gone anywhere for breakfast. The street/hotel were very noisy with club/bar leavers also - a heads up about ear plugs would help.
The most comfortable bed in a big spacious room. Gorgeous bathroom and so quiet! (Much needed after a festival!). Very friendly staff.
A luggage stand would be handy.
Great location, great staff, amazing history
Nothing- All great
The staff and housekeeping people were very helpful and obliging. The bed was comfy.
The shower was either very hot or very cold. We couldn't use it safely. We would have needed grab rails in the room, particularly the bathroom, as we have balance/mobility problems.
Great location, very friendly staff and adorable rooms.
Slightly confusing corridors - but that added to the charm.
The spacious room.
No table to put my suitcase on. Noise from the yard that woke me at 4 am. The breakfast provision in the attached cafe was slow and too expensive, with surprisingly little conventional choice.
Very spacious. Lovely shower. Excellent tea selection. Comfortable bed.
No mini fridge in the room
The net curtains were filthy. The shower didn’t work. There was an unconnected telephone in the bathroom with dirt behind. The window frames were rotten. There was loud noise from the street below.
Rien
Very roomy, comfortable and very clean
Shower pressure not great but I understand that this is a very old building
Perfect location and charming old English atmosphere.
Not advised for people with waking disabilities as they are stairs everywhere. Also, the bathroom while perfectly functional needs some renovation. Not being able to mix cold and hot water in the washbasin is a bit too "old fashioned".
Cute location and fun system with books all over
The staff was unhelpful and completely uninterested in anything we had to say even when we tried to explain that the shower in the bathroom was broken, the receptionist was on the phone and barely looked up..
Also vorm Frühstück schnell kurz or 8 am hin gegen, gewünschte Zeit buchen...
Was soll ich sagen?
Great historic hotel. Comfortable rooms.
No on site parking due to its superb location..
Great location and an authentic building right in the town centre of Guildford. Lovely helpful staff. Would recommend and go back !
Nothing
The room was clean and fresh .
I stayed on the 23rd of June for 1 night. It was extremely hot. There was no Airconditioner. Only a fan.
Great location, decent room in interesting building
Location only
The shower above the bath hardly had any power. The bath itself was very slippery! The general cleaning wasn’t to standard! And our room was facing the busy high street crowd and shops!
Location, spot on, and Bill's restaurant was good.
A small fridge in the room would have been nice, but water, coffee, etc were available.
Emily Suite was lovely, great space, plenty of room, decent bathroom. Angel Posting House is a character property so it has an awful lot of charm and is superbly located. It's worth noting that there are no lifts and as an old well maintained building it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. I had a fantastic stay, however, and if you can handle stairs and want something a little more traditional to the other chain type hotels in Guildford you cannot go far wrong here.
Takes a little while for the hot water to make it around the pipes but then it does at my house too :)
Gorgeous historical property
We had the room with window onto the high st, which seemed great but was actually extremely noisy all night long (drunk young people yelling/ laughing right outside until maybe 4am)
Good location. Nicely appointed room and appreciated water and biscuits together with tea/coffee making facilities. Nice in house restaurant (Bills) although unfortunately I couldn’t hand around for Breakfast
Nothing major- not the hotels fault but a hot night!
Lovely room, friendly staff, comfy bed
Nothing
Everything was perfect. Best location in Guilford, very nice, cozy rooms and very professional and caring staff!
The staff were amazing and the room was beautiful x
The noise from the yard woke me up at 7am with music playing.
It was in a great location. It had everything we needed.
The room layout was odd with the bathroom in the centre forming an inner corridor betweeen bedroom and a sitting area. The bathroom door was coming off it’s hinges.
Volle Empfehlung 😃
.
Very comfortable bed and well sound proofed room. Beautiful historic building in excellent location.
Largely traffic free area of city so no parking on-site. Used P&R which was adequate.
Central location and excellent staff
Bit noisy at night from high st
The hotel is in the middle of the High Street, so in the heart of Guildford. Most of the things you might want to do in Guildford are just a short walk away. The room was very comfortable, and looked like it had been modernised recently with almost everything you might need. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
It's an old hotel so it's stairs up to the accommodation. That was fine for us but if you are less steady on your feet you might want to take advantage of the offer to carry your suitcase up the stairs. There is no bar, unless you count The Fallen Angel, which isn't for everyone.
A very comfortable night and lovely receptionist. Stayed for just one night and did not have any problems with noise although this maybe because we went to bed v ery late.
Nice room
Shower took a very long time to warm up
