Lovely hotel, just a couple of minutes from GLive. Rooms are clean, staff were accommodating and friendly. Nice bar area. Fantastic location.

This was rectified quickly however when I arrived i was told I had been upgraded to a room on the 2nd floor rather than the lower ground snug I booked. I booked the lower floor as my husband is not to good with stairs. I didn't say anything at first and went to see the room. There is no lift so after climbing 2 flights of stairs I entered a room that was small, with a small bathroom. Checking my booking again the room I booked and paid for was better than said room so I returned to reception explained that I didn't feel the room was a upgrade as stated and requested my original booking which was given straight away. Only 1 small flight of stairs down and larger room with nice bathroom. I am only stating this to make others aware.

Really friendly staff, we were affected by the air traffic control problems and after a long disastrous day it was nice to see a friendly face, lots of complimentary products in the room and loved the fact that you had proper milk in the fridge rather than plastic crap

We ordered room service and the food arrived cold. We found the parking charges a bit excessive because we each had a car with us. The cost was £17 per car. This part was not pleasant.

One minor grip was I booked parking and the parking at the rear of the hotel was very tight and took me ages to actually get my car in a spot

Only stayed for one night but the staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful. Great tea, coffee, toiletries etc in the room. We didn’t have breakfast but did have a drink in the bar which was reasonably priced. Location less than a 5 minute walk to London Rd station and easy paid parking nearby.

The cutlery was not very sharp which made it a little hard to cut up some of the food, ie bacon and toast.

The hotel was luxurious and its decor was beautifully selected. The bedroom was spacious, clean and tidy, with complimentary tea and coffee. The staff were friendly,helpful and knowledgeable. The food was delicious with e generous portion of cooked breakfast or the choice of continental breakfast if you prefer.

Facilities and cleanliness very good

The car park charge was unexpected and never experienced having to pay £17 for a hotel owned car park before.

Great location for walking into the smarter end of town. Clean rooms; nicely decorated with comfortable beds and smooth, good quality bed linen.

Excellent location and really friendly staff. Lovely lady on reception took the time to ask about us and explain everything we would need to know. A rarity these days! Really clean and comfortable room. We were upgraded to an executive room, but.have stayed once before in a cosy room that I booked. Would definitely stay again.

Minor point, but no shelving/anywhere to obvious to put a washbag in the bathroom. It's a common annoyance in hotels. There was plenty of space, so why not put one in!

Service was great and the staff friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a double room which was nice. Bed was comfortable and there was nice quiet air conditioning.

The decor in my room was very tired. It seemed clean overall but the carpet was old and grubby in places.

Some of the spaces in the rear car park were a little tight.

Incredibly loud cleaning staff talking and banging things into my door at 9 am or earlier. I worked late the night before wanted to sleep a bit longer but they were so loud in corridor.

The room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. I am not a large person, but the space was very limited. The wash basin was extremely small and only suitable for a small cloakroom toilet. There was nowhere to put a toiletries bag or anything else for that matter. For £120 a night, plus £20 a night for parking, I expect much more! The hotel car park to the rear (an extra £20 a night), is small and narrow, and access is not straightforward. Once I negotiated my way in, around sharp corners and irregular shaped buildings, it was impossible to turn my car around. I have quite a large car, with good all-round parking sensors, but I would not have fancied reversing out of that car park. When we were leaving, I had to wait for other cars to leave before me, so I could turn my car around in order to drive out in a forward direction. If you have a large car, or no parking sensors, be warned!

Location walking distance to town with several shops/restaurants. Staff friendly and welcoming. Comfortable bed.

Overall I had a very good stay at the hotel -friendly , efficient staff , room upgrade , excellent breakfast and a location very close to the town centre.

The only improvement for me would be a gym .

Comfortable stay, excellent staff! They provided me with a cot for the baby who was with me, and she loved it.

Just one comment— we were justgiven a room that had no stroller access but I guess I should have asked for one.

The breakfast was a bit lacking and didn't feel it was worth the cost. I also had to pay for parking in the hotel car park, which given how much I paid, I felt should have been included.

We liked the wonderful location and the guest facilities and reataurant nearby. We were there for a funeral and hosted family gathering. Felt just right

Understaffed at breakfast, we had to wait over an hour for our cooked breakfast on Tuesday morning Although there is 24 hr housekeeping, you shouldn’t have to phone for more toilet paper! It is expensive for a Sunday and Monday night- £185 b&b per night for a deluxe room It is a shame that you have to pay for parking!

The mattress was slightly hard and the cushions were huge making it hard to get comfy. But that's just a preference

We stayed 4 nights, we had booked a medium double room, we changed from the 2nd night, the shower room was tiny and was in a closet with toilets and a small sink. We took an executive room after negotiating the upgrade, a small bathroom and a very large room. The double medium is to be avoided! Clean and comfortable Executive Room, bed in 1m40 only, no chest of drawers to store clothes. Breakfast varied and good quality, nice staff.

Sound traveled at night. We could hear people arguing in a neighbouring room late into the night.

Room very well maintained and very clean. They even provide Molton Brown for hand and boy wash. Breakfast is exceptional and cooked very well. Ingredients used are of good quality.

Outstanding savoury afternoon tea for my birthday celebration. Great atmosphere and superb service - Special Shoutout to Joyce and Saffron - who made the whole experience memorable! From a warm, friendly and all smiles welcome for looking after us so well including a rather challenging hot chocolate with a special milk order. We sat in the restaurant (bar looked fine to be honest), comfortable and air con on. Music filled the space without being too much. The tea itself was delicious - the salmon on fresh cheese was our favourite but the sizzlers (small burgers), and the meatball croquetes were top notch! Highly recommended especially if you have the opportunity to be looked after by the dynamic duo of Joyce and Saffron.

Attended a private birthday party and stayed the night. The space was beautiful and staff was welcoming and attentive. Our room was incredibly clean and had all the amenities you needed for a night stay. Would recommend this hotel for private gatherings and staying to anyone!

I had my 30th birthday party at the Mandolay and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Organising the whole event was made seamless with thanks to Tami and Louis, and on the night the whole working team made everything so easy. The family and friends I had staying in rooms were looked after with so much care, and they were very happy to have air con especially in this heat! The event itself was honestly perfect, the space we had was set up with all the decorations we dropped off and had so much care I really didn’t have to worry about anything! We had canapés made fresh by the chef which went down a treat! People couldn’t stop talking about it all night, especially the pork belly bites and the duck spring rolls! Thank you so so much to everyone involved with the event, you made my 30th such a special time! So happy to recommend having an event here!

Our stay at Mandolay Hotel was the best decision we made during our long trip. It was actually a last-minute booking, but it turned out to be the best one. While travelling back from Devon, we also chose to stay at Mandolay again. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay from reception and the bar to the breakfast service. During check-out, Sunita and Joyce were especially friendly and helpful. Sunita also assisted us a lot during our previous stay, so it was lovely to see her again. We are now heading back to Amsterdam, but we will definitely return to Mandolay Hotel on our next trip. Highly recommended

Lovely modern hotel with a great bar area. Nice to be able to sit both inside and out with a drink. Friendly and professional staff. Great prebookable parking area. Rooms decorated to a high standard and a great location for G-Live arena for concerts!

Although the Buffet breakfast is nice and has plenty of choice, for the money you pay I feel waiter service for cooked breakfasts would be more appropriate for this hotel. It commands a high price to stay here so help yourself eating doesn’t quite seem to fit the brand. Having said that the food was very nice.

I liked the friendly greeting from Yudis at reception when I was checking in. The bar staff were all helpful and Sunita was very polite on check-out. I liked the bar facility, it was a great place to go for a night cap before retiring to the bedroom and a great place for a coffee in the morning before heading out for the day. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay and I plan to return. The location is also excellent.

I can't really say I didn't like anything. One observation I made was perhaps some of the bar upholstery could be upgraded - it's looking a bit tired in places and if the brown wood could be lightened it would uplift the environmental feel - but that's an observation, not a criticism!

So clean and comfortable

We were allocated room 41.The noise from the room above was persistent from late at night to well after 2am and restarting at 5 am . A group of people were playing music loudly,talking and laughing and frequently making thudding noises and there were loud squeaky sounds on the floor boards. There was no improvement after contacting reception twice. The next morning my wife spoke to the duty manager. We were moved rooms for our second night to what was described as a free upgrade and not in the basement (the latter being described as cheaper rooms).. It was acknowledged it was an old building going through refurbishment and the quality of the sound proofing was clearly a known issue .She was told that people are warned on the hotel’s website ( although not on Expedia’s, that noise may be an issue in these rooms). We subsequently checked the hotel’s website and found no mention of this . When we followed up our concerns in writing because of the terrible night we had , the response from the manager (which took a month to receive )suggested as it is an older property one should expect some noise .( having stayed in many older properties this is not the case ) We were offered a free upgrade if we ever stayed again . This is scant compensation for our ruined wedding anniversary stay . I can only suggest not to stay here if you want a good night’s sleep and if you want to receive good customer service when issues arise . Read less

Position of bed in room 2 prevented bathroom door from opening properly Intrusive pop music playing in breakfast room and no escape from it (there were loudspeakers in every possible place).

Location was great. Good level of comfort, and extremely clean.

There was no elevator to access upper floors. For older people this might be an issue but I'm pretty sure that the staff will help.

A cracking hotel, spacious and comfortable executive double room, air conditioning was perfect, a really good quality bar, good staff all round, particularly Scarlet on reception, who was most helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was excellent, all items were good quality, well cooked and plentiful. The receptionist, Sunita, was very helpful and kind. The towels were a generous size and soft. There was a good selection of quality teas and coffees in the room.

When we booked we thought that parking was a part of the package, until we looked again and found it to be an expensive extra. We reported that the shower cubicle leaked, although it was a good walking shower.

When we arrived we were welcomed by Joyce on reception! She was lovely, very polite and welcoming! As it was our anniversary she told us that they have kindly upgraded our room free of charge, which was such a lovely touch! We also arrived into the room and had complimentary biscuits, tea and coffee and they had also given us some cake with a happy anniversary message which was incredible! The rooms are very lovely, would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Guildford!!

The fact that you are on main road and the floor board in joining room creak really bad. Was awoken at 2 am by the room next door. Reception just said uts an old building.

Our first room had very dirty carpet and was very shabby. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel with a tiny sink.

Our room was fantastic, a great size, very well equipped and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent.

We felt the only thing the room was lacking was a full length mirror.
