Jungle Paradise

Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Udawalawe national park. Spacious rooms, lovely pool, and the nicest staff we have met during our time in Sri Lanka. Easy to get to from the east and south coasts, nice restaurant (too far to eat elsewhere ) and good WiFi. A special mention to Lasa, who is their in-house safari guide, who took us on a private safari to the park in his jeep. He has many years experience and knows the park as well as one could. We saw all expected animals on our half day safari, and we encountered many vehicles who didn’t manage to see any elephants! Very fair price and overall amazing experience.

Not so much a negative, but you do not need to spend any more than 1-2 days here, as once you have done the safari there is little to do. If the sun in shining then you can spend the day by the pool, but for us it was raining after the safari so decided to leave. Not a fault of the property at all though, it does what it says on the tin!

We stayed at Jungle Paradise for 2 nights. The rooms were very spacious, clean and well maintained. Hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. We did a half day safari with Lasa who works for the hotel providing private safaris for guests. His knowledge was amazing and he answered every question in detail. He was very attentive and welcoming did not feel rushed. He made sure we felt safe during our time in the safari.

Je pense que les prix pour le Safari sont un peu élevé mais tout était parfait et organisé, petit repas pour le petit déjeuner, chauffeur très gentil et seulement pour nous !

The staff were excellent, we arrived late after a safari and they sorted dinner while we settled into the room. They were extremely friendly and accommodating. The family room was large with two separate bedrooms and there was a large outdoor area. We didn't use the pool as we left early the next day. My daughters loved the dogs Charlie and Ruby!

We've had better meals elsewhere but we appreciated how quickly it was put together for us.

Tolle Unterkunft!!! Die Zimmer waren einfach nur toll, im Bad roch es nach natürlichem Zimt. Von der Terasse Blick in den Dschungel. Unsere Mädels haben den Pool sehr genossen, außerdem die lieben Hunde. Die Gastgeber waren so nett, zuvorkommend und humorvoll. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker, zum Frühstück gabs einen 1a Cappuccino. Wir hatten auch eine tolle Safari mit Lasa. Wir haben viele Tiere gesehen, ein ganz junges Elefantenbaby war dabei, Krokodile, tolle Vögel, Büffel, einen Schakal.. Er war dabei sehr respektvoll mit den Tieren und konnte uns viel zu ihnen erzählen. Er kannte die Namen der Tiere und Vögel sogar auf deutsch. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt, wären gerne länger geblieben und kommen gerne wieder!

Het was echt fantastisch. We werden warm ontvangen door Chatura en tijdens ons verblijf stond hij elke dag voor ons klaar. Hij werkt heel hard en wil alles voor je doen en regelen. De kamers zijn groot en de badkamers zijn heel ruim. Vanaf je balkon kijk je naar verschillende vogels, eekhoorns en de reuze eekhoorn. We hebben een geweldig safari in Udawalawe Park gedaan met chauffeur Lhasa, hij kon heel goed vertellen over de olifanten en andere dieren. Het eten in het restaurant van het verblijf was elke dag super goed, we hielden heel erg van de roti en curry. Chatura heeft ons met de tuktuk naar de Elephant Transit Home gebracht en daarna heeft hij een leerzame en persoonlijke rondleiding gegeven in een Boeddhistische Tempel. Dit was ons beste verblijf in onze reis door Sri Lanka, heel erg bedankt!

Jungle Paradise really does feel like paradise. Surrounded by lush greenery, with beautifully maintained and colourful gardens. As soon as we arrived, our host welcomed us with a huge smile and some small, scented wet towels that were incredibly refreshing after our wonderful safari. Our room was spacious, the bathroom was huge, and the terrace was a fabulous place to relax. We quickly left our luggage in the room and headed straight to the pool to enjoy some time there. Excellent dinner and breakfast. The whole staff was helpful and always smiling — we truly felt at home.

Chathura and his colleague gave us a warm welcome at Jungle Paradise and made sure we had everything we needed! No request was too much and they gave us honest prices. Chathura made pro actively suggestions of what we could do and thanks to him we had a great time. We booked the luxurious appartement and that was a wonderful stay too, spacious and a great view on the jungle. They also serve the best cappuccino of Sri Lanka.

Sehr gepflegte kleine Anlage direkt im Nationalpark. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen, auch wegen dem unfassbar netten und offenen Personal. Auch die gebuchte Safari mit Lass und das Essen morgens und Abends war super.

All was perfect. The room is amazing, the views are incredible, the staff super friendly and the best breakfast we had so far. And taking the safari with them and their driver/huide Lasa is the best choice you can make. Oustanding experience

El personal es muy agradable y servicial. Las habitaciones y las instalaciones en si, como la piscina son preciosas y te sientes en mitad de la selva. La habitación es amplia y bonita. El desayuno es muy completo y esta muy bueno, además ofrecen una gran variedad de comida para el almuerzo y la cena y con un precio muy asequible!

Si tuviera que decir algo negativo seria el tiempo de espera para la comida, son un poco lentos preparando las cosas, tanto el desayuno como cualquier comida. Pero por lo demás todo está genial.

Das Hotel ist sehr herzig, tolle Zimmer, unweit vom Safari Startpunkt mit schönem Poolbereich. Sehr nettes Personal, immer gut drauf. Das Essen war sehr lecker, vom Frühstück bis Abendessen.

The hotel is the perfect location for both the Elephant Transit home and the Safari as only 10 /15 minutes driven to each. The rooms were lovely and clean with good showers and the pool was the real highlight as heated! Perfect place to chill after a safari. Looking at the reviews we wish we had booked the safari through them as our guide we booked independently was not great. The two main front of house guys were really friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

The currys were luke warm in temperature and hot would have been nicer. Runny poached eggs should be runny not hard. But very minor points.

Die Unterkunft war wirklich sehr schön. Die aufmerksamen Mitarbeiter waren alle Klasse. Besonders Chathura hat sich besonders engagiert und sich toll um uns und unsere zwei Kinder gekümmert. Über das Hotel wurde uns der Besuch den ETH und des Nationalpark zu wirklich fairen Preisen organisiert.

What a wonderful oasis very close to the Udawalawe national park! The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food is very nice as well. The swimming pool in the super green garden is a wonderful refresher between safari’s. The staff can arrange a Safari right from the hotel. Since our daughters were sick when we arrived they made special effort to get lime for fresh limejuice and ayurvedic medicine to help them recover, which they did in a day. Highly recommended for a stay in Udawalawe!

Hübsches kleines Hotel in der Natur, perfekter Ausgangspunkt für eine Safari. Die kleinen Villen haben einen Balkon mit Blick in den Dschungel, perfekt um abends noch etwas draußen zu sitzen. Das Essen war lecker und der Pool war toll. Besonders bedanken möchten wir uns bei Chatura für seine tolle Betreuung während unseres Aufenthalts und bei Lasa für die tolle Safari die wir mit ihm hatten.

Das Jungle Paradise ist einfach ein Traum: wunderbare Lage, perfekter Ausgangspunkt für eine Safari, traumhafte Bungalows und im Badezimmer riecht es nach Zimt. Die Jungs an der Rezeption sind sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Kann ich nur empfehlen!

Ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Eten (zowel ontbijt als diner) en ook de koffie was erg lekker. De locatie was kleinschalig en daardoor persoonlijk. Met ruime, schone kamers en een fijn en schoon zwembad. Locatie is erg dichtbij Udawalawe national park. Al met al een topverblijf gehad hier!

Personal super amable Habitaciones amplias y limpias

Deze accommodatie was onze absolute favoriet op onze hele reis. De ruime, schone kamer met goede bedden en klamboe en fantastisch uitzicht op de jungle was ver boven verwachting. De kinderen genoten van zwembad waar af en toe een aap en zelfs een varaan voorbij kwam. Ze hebben de beste cappuccino van het land en onze kamer was 100% insectvrij, ook fijn voor een keer. De kinderen hadden hun eigen slaapkamer. Wij waren iets uit de kluis vergeten en ze hielpen enorm om dit op te lossen. De safari met Lasa was ook echt de moeite waard, veel beter dan onze Safari in Yala. We komen graag terug!

Wat een fantastisch plekje! In alle rust, mooie zeer verzorgde bungalows, lekker zwembad. Alles even netjes! Supervriendelijke en behulpzaam personeel. Lekker gegeten daar! Het ligt wat afgelegen, maar dat is geen enkel probleem, want je wil daar helemaal niet weg. Behalve dan voor een safari. De safari via de accommodatie geregeld. Je vertrekt in de jeep bij de accommodatie. Hun gids Lasa is een hele vriendelijke en kundige gids! Hij deed erg zijn best om er een onvergetelijke ervaring van te maken, een aanrader!

The staff were so wonderful, the pool was the perfect temperature, and the room was great for our family of 4. Very conveniently located to the entrance of udawalawe national park.

Fantastisch verblijf gehad in Jungle Paradise. We verbleven in het deluxe appartement wat een heerlijke plek was. Prachtig balkon met jungle uitzicht, ruime kamers en heerlijke bedden. Personeel was behulpzaam, aardig en staat voor je klaar. Prima maaltijden en een goed geregelde safari tour! Lasa was onze gids met 15 jaar ervaring, topgids! Deed zijn eigen route en ging niet achter de andere jeeps aan, olifanten die naast de jeep stonden, krokodillen en veel meer wildlife gezien. Dikke aanrader wil je Udawalawa park een bezoek brengen. En de spelletjes carrom met de locals, prachtig om te spelen 😁

Een woord: Geweldig! De medewerker was zo ontzettend vriendelijk, lekker eten, zeer ruime kamer met groot balkon, airco en lekker zwembad. Op korte afstand van National park en sla de olifanten opvang ook niet over!

We verbleven in het appartement met 2 slaapkamers. Prachtige, ruimere accommodatie met een heel mooi terras. Prima eten en een fijn zwembad. Personeel is ongelofelijk vriendelijk. Zeer aan te raden voor wie een verblijf dicht in de buurt van het NP zoekt.

El apartamento de luxe está chulísimo y muy limpio, con aires acondicionados y ventiladores. La piscina está muy bien. Los empleados son majísimos sobre todo el chico que estaba en recepción. La cena estuvo muy rica. Tienen bastantes opciones . Nos prepararon el desayuno en picnic para poder llevarlo al safari.

Safari und Tuktuk-Fahrt (Tempel und ETH) wurden vom Hotel selbst organisiert. Beides war super und können wir nur weiterempfehlen. Das Hotel liegt wirklich im Dschungel, für uns war die Location perfekt.

This is a great place to stay if you’re planning a safari in Udawalawe. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. We were greeted with refreshing welcome drinks, and they took the time to explain all the facilities. They also helped us arrange a safari with their own driver and guide, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Our safari guide had more than 15 years of experience and was exceptional. He was patient, knowledgeable, and explained everything we saw, even using a bird identification book to help us learn about the different species. He knew all the best spots in Udawalawe National Park, and thanks to him we saw an incredible variety of wildlife, including large elephant herds, mothers with babies, crocodiles, monkeys, water buffalo, jackals, and many beautiful birds. We highly recommend booking the safari with the jeep and guide provided by Jungle Paradise. The accommodation also prepared a delicious breakfast for us to enjoy inside the park, and our guide took care of all the arrangements, making the experience completely stress-free. The property itself is lovely. We spent a lot of time relaxing by the beautiful, clean swimming pool. The room was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The on-site restaurant is also very good—we enjoyed two delicious lunches there during our stay. Overall, we highly recommend Jungle Paradise for its outstanding hospitality, comfortable accommodation, and excellent safari experience.

Our stay at Jungle Paradise was one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. Before coming here, I wasn’t sure if Udawalawe Safari would be worth it, as I had heard that you mainly see elephants. I was completely wrong. The safari exceeded all my expectations. Our guide, Lasa, was knowledgeable, passionate about wildlife, and never rushed us. He stopped whenever we wanted to observe the animals and shared interesting facts throughout the tour. It was an unforgettable experience. The hospitality at the hotel was just as memorable. Perfectly handled by Chathura. He was extremely friendly and so helpful.The breakfast after the safari was delicious, and every staff member was genuinely kind. One moment that will stay with us was when the housekeeping lady gave my wife a small bouquet of flowers and hugged her before we left. It was such a warm and heartfelt gesture. When we left Jungle Paradise, we realized that what made this place special was not only the safari, but also the wonderful people we met. Thank you for making our stay so meaningful. We hope to come back one day.

Very clean room and facilities were all top notch, appreciated especially the strong showers, big bathroom, and the friendliest staff who were the most accommodating and welcoming to our kids. This was our first stay and also first safari, which set a very high benchmark for the rest of our time in Sri Lanka. Lasa our safari guide was an experienced gentleman with over 20 years of experience. He was able to bring us up close to the animals and knew the animal cues to allow us to approach safely. He was able to name all the brids that we saw accurately, and answered all our questions. Despite the rain, he was able to make the safari experience an enjoyable one. We strongly recommend a stay and a safari tour here.

Jungle Paradise was our favorite hotel during our safari trip. This hotel is incredibly affordable, and you get amazing value for your money. Our room was huge—more like an apartment—with an incredible view. The swimming pool was large, beautiful, and very well maintained. The breakfast was delicious, and they served the best coffee we had in Sri Lanka, freshly made from a proper coffee machine. We went on a morning safari with the absolute best driver and guide. He was so kind to our children and to us. His name was Lasa, and we highly recommend booking your safari with him. The service from everyone at Jungle Paradise was outstanding, especially Chathura, who made our stay even more enjoyable. If you're planning to stay in Udawalawe, we highly recommend booking this hotel!

We booked our Safari with Jungle Paradise and Lasa our driver guide was by far the best guide we have had over 4 other safaris across SL! thoroughly recommend him, and his 15 years experience in the park was priceless!

We had the most beautiful 2 night stay at jungle paradise with my husband and 2 kids aged 5 and 7. The room was huge and had a gorgeous balcony overlooking the jungle. Pool was fabulous and we loved the food. We organised our safari through the hotel and it was amazing. Such a knowledgeable guide and we felt like we were the only ones out there. It was such a relaxing part of our beautiful Sri Lanka trip. Would highly recommend for a stay while exploring Udawalawe national park.

Un endroit parfait maintenue par une équipe dynamique. C'est un endroit très relaxant en retrait de tout. Proche du safari. Dîner et petit déjeuner très bon.

Hier passt alles zusammen! Es liegt ein wenig abseits und es ist nicht so einfach es gleich zu finden aber wenn man es gefunden hat, ist es eine Oase. Schön ruhig und bis zur Stadt ca. 8Min mit dem Auto. Das Frühstück und auch das Abendessen war sehr gut! Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und mit einem super schönen Balkon. Alles war wirklich sehr gut und der Pool angenehm warm.

Wir mussten doch sehr lange auf eine Fahrgelegenheit warten... aber auch das hat unsere Laune nicht getrübt! TIP schaut bei Pick Me und Uber...

Beautiful property in the jungle. Gardens and pool were beautiful and the room was big and clean. Lots of space and the view from the balcony was so peaceful. Most of all the staff were just wonderful. We were travelling with our baby and they were so beautiful and kind to him, always wanting to play and smile with him.

We can’t say enough about this place! We only were able to stay one night but didn’t want to leave. The people who work here are so kind and accommodating; they are the highlight! We were taken care of by Chanuka and Chathura who went above and beyond helping us and making us feel welcome. We had delicious dinner and breakfast and the pool is so relaxing after a safari. The rooms are clean and spacious with lovely details. We hope to come back some day to meet our Sri Lankan hosts again.

Amazing property with clean and well aerated bedrooms and bathrooms. Friendly staff and great food. Excellent location. Can walk to nearby lake for bird watching which is another advantage. Awesome swimming pool with fresh water. The entire property is well maintained. Relaxed and comfortable stay.

Just 2 minor things. The geyser water could be consistently hot. The waste food odor could be contained near the dining area.

Meilleur hôtel que nous avons fait au sri Lanka ! La chambre était superbe, le personnel d'une gentillesse incroyable et très proche de la réserve naturelle. Cet établissement est vraiment une pépite avec un rapport qualité prix incroyable ! Même l'accueil était génial : on nous a servi des serviettes fraiches et un délicieux jus de pastèque. Par ailleurs, l'hôtel nous avait préparé une box petit déjeuner car nous partions très tôt en safari le lendemain.

Côté restaurant c'était bon mais pas wouaw. Mais là c'est vraiment du détail ... car tout était très bien !

Staff went out of their way to look after us. We arrived in the middle of torrential downpour and they helped us to settle in despite some power cuts and needing to access power through the generator. Once the rain stopped everything ran as normal. Rooms spacious and well equipped. Staff assisted us to book a tour and provide breakfast before we went. Food was great!

Le personnel à l'acceuil / restaurant incroyable et toujours aux petits soins. Le safari était top et notamment la jeep de l'hotel avec notre guide LASA => le meilleur qui connait le parc par coeur (chacal, éléphants, crocodile, oiseaux...)

Le restaurant peut être amélioré (nasi goreng trop épicé) sur la qualité des plats. Prix abordable mais c'est le seul bémol mais globalement c'est ok (c'est juste si on doit etre tatillon car expérience exceptionnelle)

Die Anlage mit dem Pool ist sehr gepflegt und ruhig und die Zimmer sind sehr groß und sauber. Die Terrasse mit Blick in den Dschungel ist auch super. Das Highlight für uns war das sehr freundliche Personal. Sowohl unser Safari Guide als auch das Personal des Hotels waren äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend und haben unseren Aufenthalt zu etwas Besonderem gemacht.

Very warm welcome from the Hotel Manager, the rooms were so comfortable, with a beautiful view of the jungle. While we only had a short stay we loved our time here. It was so close to the National park which made the safari in the morning nice and easy. Including a good coffee before heading off early. We were travelling with young kids and the engagement with them was exceptional.

De zorg van de gastheren. De gastvrijheid was echt buitengewoon. Heel attent. Wij hadden wat last van onze buik en kregen speciaal lime juice naar oma’s recept. Verder ook fijn dat je er kan ontbijten, lunchen en avondeten als je dat zou willen. Prachtig onderhouden tuin!

Het enige kleine minpuntje voor ons was dat de huisjes iets meer koloniaal zijn ingericht dan dat ze een safari look hebben die past bij Udawalawe national park. Maar dat is maar iets kleins.

Attentive staff, good communication to pre arrange a driver then excellent safari with Lasar. 2 bed apt was very comfortable, pool clean, meals excellent, good coffee.

Nous avons tout aimé : l’accueil de l’équipe toujours souriante, la chambre confortable, les repas copieux, la piscine rafraîchissante. L’hôtel nous a réservé un safari avec un super guide qui nous a permis de voir plein d’éléphants, des buffles, des singes et même des crocodiles sans parler de tous les oiseaux. Un moment magique. Nous seul regret : ne pas y être resté un peu plus
