Ele Camp Udawalawe

Wir waren für zwei Nächte in dieser Unterkunft und haben uns von Anfang an rundum wohlgefühlt. Alle Mitarbeiter waren unglaublich freundlich, herzlich und zuvorkommend. Besonders schön fanden wir, wie liebevoll mit unseren Kindern umgegangen wurde – ihnen wurde wirklich jeder Wunsch erfüllt. Dadurch wurde unser Aufenthalt sehr persönlich und familiär gestaltet. Das Familienzimmer war super geräumig, die Betten groß und bequem und alles war sehr sauber. Man hat sich einfach direkt wohl und willkommen gefühlt. Wir waren insgesamt sehr zufrieden und können diese Unterkunft definitiv weiterempfehlen! Als kleinen, wirklich freundlich gemeinten Hinweis würden wir uns für Familien noch einen Kinderstuhl im Restaurant wünschen. Außerdem wäre es schön, wenn die Treppe nach oben zum Zimmer am Geländer etwas freigeschnitten werden könnte, da sie bei unserem Aufenthalt ziemlich zugewachsen war und man dadurch etwas entspannter nach oben gehen könnte. Vielen Dank für die schöne und herzliche Zeit – wir kommen gerne wieder!

I am extremely concerned about the conduct of the manager at this property. During our stay, the manager came to my daughter’s room and knocked on her door in the middle of the night. I consider this behavior completely inappropriate and unacceptable, particularly because it involved a female guest and occurred at such a late hour. I have a photograph of the manager, and with the assistance of the hotel staff, I was able to obtain his name. I will be providing this information and the photograph to Booking.com as part of my complaint. I am also deeply concerned about information that has been brought to my attention regarding an allegation of sexual assault involving this individual. I am not presenting this allegation as a proven fact, but I believe it is serious enough that Booking.com and the relevant Sri Lankan authorities should be made aware of it and investigate appropriately. I strongly recommend that Booking.com investigate this matter and review whether this property is being managed in accordance with appropriate guest-safety standards. Future guests should be made aware of my experience and encouraged to exercise caution until this matter has been properly investigated. I have supporting information, including a photograph and the manager’s name, and I am prepared to provide these to Booking.com and, if appropriate, the relevant Sri Lankan authorities. The staff was great and friendly. Pathum was great. Food was delicious. I will be back soon.

Clean, and artistic

Great location, lovely pool and close to Udawalawe National Park and the elephant transit home. Great range of room options for families, really good value for money. Staff helped us book a safari with lunch packs and a guide which was excellent. A highlight for the kids was the bird life and even a monkey in the trees, a real safari camp experience!

One of the best places we stayed on our trip to Sri lanka. Make sure to book safari with Rajitha he is located in the property - best expierince. Restaurant serves nice food and makes amazing margaritas.

We had a fabulous stay here in one of the chalets which was spacious and had great air conditioning. Staff were very warm and welcoming and helped us with whatever we needed. We also booked a safari with them and Rajitha was an excellent guide. No complaints with the food and the pool was always kept clean. Definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the area!

Bathrooms for the chalets are actually outdoors with an awning and a door to the rest of your chalet so you can have insects and other animals inside there.

Secluded oasis in the jungle. Incredible value for money we felt like we were at a luxury property. Breakfast was great, though not many western options mostly spicy items. We did get eggs made to order which was great :) Pool was sweet, room was great, you could see fireflies in the night.

Absolutnie idylliczne miejsce! Przy cenie 75$ za noc dla 4 osob ze sniadaniem, poziom luksusu powoduje opadanie szczęki. Szczególnie polecam późno wieczorną kąpiel w basenie i obserwację Deamon Birds. Wspaniałe śniadanie i wspaniała kolacja, którą szczególnie polecam wykupić.

Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und Hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer das wir hatten war sehr gross und WC und Dusche waren getrennt und haben einwandfrei funktioniert. Klimatisiert und genügend Steckdosen für 4 Personen. Wir haben eine Safari über das Hotel gebucht die uns sehr gefallen hat da der Guid auch ein Auge fürs Detail hatte und nicht nur den anderen Fahrzeugen auf der Safari gefolgt ist. Am Abend gab es ein vielfältiges Büffet, so auch für das Frühstück.

Es gab ein paar kleine Käfer in unserem Zimmer, jedoch nicht weiter schlimm, da das Hotel ja in Mitte des Jungels liegt.

Gorgeous setting. Stayed in an en- suite tented tree house with a lovely balcony. Nice pool and restaurant there too. They organised a safari for us and we saw lots if elephants. Families with youngsters as well. Absolutely brilliant!

Jungle vibes, awesome pool, super friendly staff

We stayed at Ele Camp in Udawalawe over Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and it was absolutely incredible. We had one of the larger family rooms on the top floor, which was stunning, spotless, and full of space. There were three beds, two doubles and one extra-large double. The spiral staircase up to the room is gorgeous and covered in plants, though a bit tricky with small children. It was Christmas when we stayed, and the festive touches were brilliant. The Christmas buffet was delicious, and someone dressed as Santa Claus, which our kids loved. Ele Camp organized tickets for us to visit the Elephant Transit Home in the afternoon, which was magical, and our Boxing Day private jeep safari was unforgettable. We saw elephants up close, monkeys, birds, and even crocodiles. The food was freshly prepared, tasty, and they were fantastic at catering for my son’s food allergies, even making him a Sri Lankan chicken curry that he loved so much he had two portions. The pool is a great size and super fun for the kids, and we enjoyed some fantastic cocktails, especially the Arrack Sour, and a cold Lion beer after a long morning. Ele Camp also offers cooking classes, which looked fantastic and something we would love to try next time. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. Ele Camp felt luxurious yet relaxed and family-friendly. We can’t recommend it highly enough and would absolutely stay here again.

La chambre était tout simplement exceptionnelle, nous étions 2 adultes et 2 enfants, nous avons eu 3 lits king size. L'hôtel est très bien placé pour le départ du safari. La piscine est top, j'ai pu faire des longueurs. Super adresse. Petit déjeuner top. Douche chaude ce qui n'est pas souvent le cas.

Alles. Es war wirklich eine ganz tolle Erfahrung. Wir hatten das Hotel für eine Nacht gebucht, um am nächsten Tag eine Safari machen zu können. Der Pool ist großartig, er ist groß geig um Bahnen zu schwimmen und die liegen sind auch bequem. Das Hotel ist auf alle unsere Wünsche eingegangen, wir durften nach unsere Safari noch Frühstücken und hatten auch einen Late Check-out gebucht, sodass der Start in den Tag sehr entspannt war. Ganz besonders: ich esse keinen Knoblauch und obwohl ich dies vorher nicht angekündigt hatte, wurde sehr viel Rücksicht beim Mittag und Abendessen genommen. Mir wurden extra Speisen vorbereitet, ohne dass ich extra dafür bezahlen musste. Jedes Essen wurde extra geprüft und es wurde sehr viel Rücksicht genommen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt :)

Gute Auswahl beim Frühstück. Super schnell im Nationalpark. Die vom Hotel organisierte Safari war toll und preislich in Ordnung. Sehr leckeres Club Sandwich. Sehr geräumiges Familenzimmer mit großen Betten.

We had such a wonderful stay in one of the glamping tents here. The staff were incredibly accommodating, and one of the nights they brought our food down to our balcony and we ate there. The Sri Lankan food being 10/10 delicious. It was so peaceful and there’s a gorgeous resident dog who joined us on our balcony. The hotel booked us a private safari into Udawalawe national park which was the most incredible experience seeing so many elephants up close!

Great location! Right next to Udawalawe National Park. Easy to visit the park for safari kindly arranged by the hotel & also easy to visit the Elephant Transit Home. The pool area is great for relaxing after an early morning safari.

We originally booked to stay in the cabana however we had to ask to move due to a mould issue in the AC unit. There was also mould throughout the interior of the cabana. We were kindly moved to a hotel room but offered no partial refund for the expense of the cabana. We unfortunately found the service in the restaurant to be disappointing also, having to ask multiple times for items & things being forgotten.

We stayed in the tree cabins and did not liked the structure of the washrooms The cabins are between lot of trees and the washrooms has quite a lot of open spaces . So entire time it was quite scary going to washroom

Perfect location for safari, feels like a jungle oasis hidden away. Incredible value for money, the rooms were much more modern and spacious in person

You must like the outdoors, this is a glamping vibe but a very special one!

Die Unterkunft ist wirklich toll! Wir haben in den Stelzenhäuser eine Nacht verbracht und man fühlte sich wie im Dschungel. Die von der Unterkunft organisierte Safari war ebenfalls super! Für ein/zwei Nächte um eine Safari zu machen, perfekt!

La chambre, la nature et un personnel parfait

I liked the size of the room and the quietness of the location.

This property is located in a very isolated, rural area with absolutely nothing within walking distance no shops, restaurants, public transport, or attractions. Exploring or even running basic errands on foot is impossible, requiring a tuk tuk at all times. The listing did not sufficiently emphasize this remoteness, which made the stay feel inconvenient and limiting. The main issue that severely impacted our experience happened during checkout. I had prepaid the full reservation amount using a top-up Wise card, with the exact funds loaded specifically for this payment. At checkout, the property's card reader showed the transaction as declined (likely because their system allows for potential extras or incidental holds). I immediately provided proof via my banking app that the funds had already been debited and the payment had cleared/processed. The staff member (possibly the owner/manager) was initially willing to contact the bank to verify. However, when he couldn't get through right away, he became increasingly angry and confrontational. He raised his voice, repeatedly stated he had "been doing this for years" and knew better, accused me of wasting his time, and demanded immediate alternative payment despite the clear evidence I showed. This escalation made me feel unfairly accused and treated like someone trying to avoid paying, even though the issue was technical and quickly resolvable once contact was made. The confrontation was stressful, unnecessary, and by far the worst customer service I've encountered at any accommodation—it completely soured the end of our stay.

I really liked this place and will return. The rooms are lovely, the location is great - not far from the park entrance yet really quiet. They have an attractive bar and restaurant where the food and drink prices are reasonable. The staff are kind, welcoming and helpful. The place has the air of a much more expensive establishment; the price is high enough, it's not cheap-end, but it is good value compared to other places in the area. There's also a nice pool and a gorgeous little dog and kitten which I assume (hope) they look after.

They use an extremely smelly, chemical air refresher/cleaning product that set me off sneezing uncontrollably. I feared I would not be able to sleep in the room. The staff were very accommodating and offered me another room but the smell was the same. However once I knew what was causing the smell - a spray, which eventually wore off with the aid of ceiling fan, and that it wasn't one of those obnoxious plug-in diffuser things, I was able to get a good night's sleep and everything else was great. The food in the restaurant was so-so. But the menu is long and varied, so I probably just chose badly.

Sødt personale og hyggelige hytter man bor i. Dejligt med pool og restaurant på hotellet da det ligger lidt væk fra byen. Hotellet arrangerede safari for os.

Bruseren på badeværelset i en af hytterne var virkelig dårlig, hvis man ville have “varmt” vand var strålen ekstremt svag og det kom nærmest intet ud. Den store bruser i loftet var kold:(

Das Servicepersonal war super nett und das Essen war gut.

Die Zimmer sind zum Teil renovierungsbedürftig und könnten deutlich sauberer sein. Allgemein ist alles extrem hellhörig und laut. Da das Hotel eine Treppen hat hört man jeden hinauf oder hinunter stapfen.

The staff were welcoming and friendly the room was cleaned well daily and the swimming pool was great to relax. They also, planned the safari for us which went really smoothly and would highly recommend.

Our only critique would be the food, it was a bit basic the breakfast was decent but more the lunch and dinner menus. It was a good selection but wasn’t a highlight for us.

Das Camp liegt mitten in der Natur und man hört und sieht jede Menge Tiere in und rund um die Anlage. Die Chalets sind toll und komfortabel eingerichtet. Die Safari haben wir vor Ort gebucht und wir waren sehr zufrieden. Der Eingang des Nationalparks liegt allerdings einige Kilometer entfernt. Das Frühstück war sehr gut.

Das Restaurant ist für Abends nicht zu empfehlen und in der Umgebung gibt es leider wenig Alternativen.

Everything was great!

Sehr schön eingerichtete Zimmer. Sehr gutes Frühstück und leckeres Essen, vor allem das Buffet war sehr gut. Sehr schöne Anlage und nah am Nationalpark gelegen.

Ein Minipunkt nur. Das sehr leckere Abendbuffet hätte am zweiten Abend etwas variiert werden können.

Beautiful grounds with trees and plants. Felt like we were in the middle of the forest. Kept very clean and tidy by staff. Room was absolutely stunning and the staff added a special anniversary touch to our room to welcome us. Pool area was clean and kids enjoyed. We ate at the restaurant and the food was delicious with lots of very tasty options. The staff were accommodating to specific food requests for the children. Staff were very friendly and helped to organise a safari and onward transport. Great location for safari.

There was constant leaf blowing throughout the morning and afternoon when I was trying to nap on the hamock. The food given to us for the safari was quite strange.

We had a really lovely stay at Ele Camp. We visited as a family (2 adults and 1 child) and stayed in the treehouse, which was cosy and a very nice experience. Everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, and the dinner buffet was very tasty and great value for money (around 2800 LKR). The staff were friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed the pool area. Overall, a relaxing and pleasant stay.

The cocktails from the bar weren’t really what we are used to.

A great stay, with hot water, comfortable beds and yummy food on offer. We arranged our safari with the hotel and we had an incredible time seeing so many elephants and other animals. I would recommend booking with them if you want an easy experience, it costs $55 per person and includes sandwich and fruit.

Only stayed one night. They organised an early morning safari the next morning. Hired 2 bikes and had an adventure going off road and using Google maps. Stopped by some young boys and played cricket with them. Was great doing something on our own. Saw alot - hornbill, people washing themselves and clothes in the leete used for the rice paddies

Nos hospedamos en las cabañas, estaban muy bien equipadas y fue una gran experiencia. El hotel ofrecia desayuno, comida y cena, muy conveniente si no te apetece salir por la noche, ya que el hotel esta un poco apartado del centro. En cambio, esta muy cerca del safari y ellos mismos te lo organizan todo por aproximadamente 60$ por persona, con jeep privado. Nos encantó.

It’s great to be able to book a safari directly from the hotel, they take care of everything, even with short notice. The pool is quite big and has a separate area for kids? Quiet at night and staying at the chalets gives you full independence. The entry to the national park is 5 min away from the hotel - great location!

When you book the 4h safari, make sure to check that you’re for that time in the national park, and if needed, remind the driver before your stay is cut short.

Perfect location to base our family while we experienced the Udawalawe National park and safari. The hotel was clean and modern and very comfortable and the staff were very accommodating. The food also was excellent, we were treated to delightful lunch and dinner during our stay and the breakfast included is fresh and filling. Everything for our safari was arranged by the hotel, our driver and tour guide - Priyantha - was excellent and worth the price (inc tip) highly recommend you let the hotel arrange everything for you. Thank you again for accommodating our family of 4.

Best safari driver and guide: Priyand!! Great food, pool and tent room. The staff is super nice and helpful. Its really close to ETH (super worth to pay a visit!!) and to park entry. Just perfect! Not too touristy.

Calm place ,into the jungle..friendly staff,but not the front staff. Value for the money breakfast. If you wants some jungle experience, good to select Tents.

Their priority is foreigners. Pool hasn't cleaned, we have to ask to get it done. Some of the front staff are with BIG Attitude.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ela Camp. The staff were wonderful – very friendly and helpful. Everything was spotless clean, and the à la carte dinner in the evening was absolutely delicious. We had a double room and were very happy with it.It was a perfect stay and we can definitely recommend it!

The only things we missed were a fridge and a safe in the room.

We sliepen in een 4-persoonskamer naast de keuken. Er was zowel in de avond als in de vroege ochtend wat lawaai.

Site très beau, propre et accueillant. Le personnel est adorable Et la piscine propre ! (Très rare pour nous sur ce séjour)

L’emplacement de notre chambre à de la cuisine et proche du resto/piscine. Bruyant car il y avait 2 groupes de 15 personnes ce jour là.
