Close to my venue

Water was brown in the bath… Pipe of the hand shower in bath was broken and when I wanted to bath the water just gushed out from the hand showers pipe as it was torn. Tiles were cracked next to the bath and bathroom floor….. very tacky!! Mould on the ceilings in the bathroom and yellowish… No dustbin to throw away coffee or tea bags… Very disappointing to say the least

The farm is beautiful, and the gardens elegant, accommodation was comfortable and located in an excellent position with all other areas to visit in close proximity

Stunning wine farm

Small things can be changed like damaged toilet seat should be fixed. Blocked basins should be fixed. It us seen daily by cleaning staff and should be reported to be fixed.

The pillows. They were very hard and thick and there was no alternative. The bathrooms were a bit outdated.

Wunderschöne Anlage, sehr gute Betten, Klimaanlage ausgezeichnet da es bei uns am Tag aussergewöhnliche Temperatur von 37 Grad hatte, was für diese Jahreszeit nicht normal ist. Sehr nettes Personal. Ausgezeichneter Pinotage. Super Frühstück

Everything about the property, our stay was very therapeutic and we enjoyed the views and tranquility. We also enjoyed the cute coffee shops in town, everyone was just lovely

Es hatte eine sehr schöne Lage und die gesamte Anlage plus dem Naturpool hat uns gut gefallen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Zimmer war zur späten Ankunftszeit noch nicht bezugsfertig und gereinigt wir haben daraufhin ein anderes bekommen.

Établissement vieillissant avec besoin de rénovation murs craquelés, joints noircis dans les salles de bain , poussière sur les poutres , accueil très moyen, nous étions les seuls clients som à arrivés à 13:15 et on nous a demandé d’attendre l’heure officielle du Check in soir 14:00 pour avoir la chambre.. pas très commercial. Restaurant très moyen par rapport à ce qui se fait dans la région . La pire expérience pour nous en Afrique du Sud.

Location is wonderful and great setting, nice walks. Very tranquil and peaceful, the eco pool is fabulous !

Service at breakfast is disappointing. Make sure you have a lot of time!

Außergewöhnliches Hotel. Unser Cottage war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Naturpool war klasse. Die Aussicht, die Umgebung, die Ruhe es war ein Traum. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Beautiful views from the chalets, comfortable communal pool area and well-appointed rooms.

We checked in on New Year’s Day so it’s understandable that staff were wanting to go home. However, the reception, restaurant, bar and all other areas besides the pool close at 5pm. Luckily we arrived at 16:30 so we were able to check in but couldn’t use the bar or restaurant.

The water situation is not great. Make sure you buy your own water.

We have returned to Rijks every time we visited Tulbagh but will find other accommodation next time. The room, bathroom and bed remain comfortable as nothing has changed in twenty years. What has changed is that the dinner menu has been drastically reduced in choice and the meal we were served was a huge disappointment. Food was overcooked and lacked interesting tastes. Of the two desserts one was not available and the melktert was of such bad quality that we both left 90% on our plates. The staff are young and willing but have not been properly trained and so the service is equivalent to a poor quality coffee shop. Our red wine was delivered, already opened in a white wine cooler. No wonder there was only one other couple dining in. On our second night we had a wonderful meal with excellent service at Chef&Co in the town.

Das Zimmer war sehr gross und von dem jeweiligen Terrassen hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Sie haben uns auch auf die Weinlese (nachts ab 21 Uhr) aufmerksam gemacht. Das Essen mit diesem Ausblick bleibt unvergesslich. Der Pinotage ist fantastisch. Der Naturpool ist ebenfalls sehr schön.

Lokatie was prachtig. Goed bed, schone kamer.

Weinig faciliteiten, slecht wifi ontvangst, restaurant stelt niet veel voor …wat op menu stond was vaak niet beschikbaar. Houding personeel was wat apathisch.

Great staff at the reception when checking in and out. A very cozy atmosphere and calm and peaceful place.

The mattress could be more comfortable otherwise nice stay.

Wat een idyllisch verblijf ! Als je hier aankomt voel je alleen maar rust en blijheid ! Mooie kamer met heerlijke badkamer , en het uitzicht als je in ochtend de deur open doet adembenemend! Een heerlijke wandeling door de wijnvelden en zwemmen in het natuurlijke zwembad ! Rust rust Wijnproeverij aan te raden en het heerlijke ontbijt , op het terras ! Heel vriendelijke meisjes die je bedienen ! Het dorp Tulbagh ook erg knus !

Helaas was het restaurant gesloten en dat was niet vermeld !

They would have received excellent except for the food issue. Staff were lovely. RIKJS wines are also excellent.

They would have received excellent but unfortunately they were not doing evening meals, which was a shame. They start from 01 Feb. As we were in Tulbagh on a Monday and Tuesday a lot of the other winery s and restaurants were also closed. Only place was the Hotel in town, which was nice.

Decor a bit bland

Locatie, algemene indruk van luxe, fantastische wijnen, heerlijk zwembad. De aandacht van de mensen geeft de indruk dat Rijk's alleen maar beter gaat worden.

Tanine in het water werd wel verklaard, maar zorgt samen met een lekke afvoer zorgt het ervoor dat de voegen en kitnaden er erg vies uit zien. Ook was de Wifi erg matig, daardoor ook geen TV ontvangst. Het zou hier om een nieuwe installatie gaan overigens die (nog) niet helemaal goed ingesteld was. Een eigen restaurant zou het verblijf compleet maken.

The accommodation setting, absolutely stunning surrounded by mountains and vineyards. The wine tasting was divine, one of the better cheese boards, our hostess knew her wines and was an interesting exchange. The wine is brilliant; the white wines are like drinking honey. The reds, oh my! as smooth as butter. Our cottage was homey and comfortable with a large comfy bed. Our view overlooked the dam and spring water pool. Easy walk around the accommodation with stunning views, be sure to wear a hat. The vineyard is beautifully maintained. I could not fault this accommodation. Reception booked our Dinner at Manley wine estate. We had supper and breakfast in Tulbagh at The Olive Terrace Bistro at the Tulbagh Hotel, and we have to give them 10/10 for service and food, it was mouthwatering.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt und waren rundum begeistert. Das Personal war außergewöhnlich freundlich und professionell – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen. Der Pool ist wunderschön und lädt zum Entspannen ein, besonders nach Spaziergängen durch die traumhaften Weinberge. Der Wein vor Ort ist hervorragend und das Frühstück einfach top – frisch, lecker und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön, sauber und komfortabel, der Service ließ keine Wünsche offen. Ein perfekter Ort zum Abschalten und Genießen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Great vineyard, location, views, silence, staff is really nice

Facilities are really dated and could be touched up a little. Water and sinks/ toilets have strange discolouration from tannins of mountain water

Spacious, comfortable room. Really close to town. Ample parking. Quiet location.

Water - they dont supply any (apart from a small plastic bottle when you check in).

Room was large and comfortable

Facilities were generally clean, but old. Pool was a bit wired - creek water unfiltered, so the floor was slippery and there was no railing to help you climb out the large steps. There were No trees hence no shade Staff were unfriendly when we arrived .

I asked for 2 separate beds, but when we got to the room, it was a double bed. The staff did however change it upon request, but will be nice to avoid having to request this twice.

This was our fourth time at Rijks over a period of 5 years and it is very sad to see that this once beautiful, vibrant place has been so neglected. The biggest suprise for us was that the restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner..It is definitely not worth the money! We stayed in one of the cottages. Basic amenities were lacking, the pool had no umbrellas. The cottage in general was not clean and paint is falling from the walls. The towels and linen need a refresh. Taps leak in the basins. I pray that this once beautiful, amazing place returns to its glory.

There was no water and we were not informed about it. So we could not shower for the entirety of our stay. Only after we asked many times and escalated did they provide drinking water and cans of water to flush the toilets. We booked 4 rooms for our group. Two of the rooms had dirty dishes and food still inside from the previous guests. We had to ask several times before it was removed. The beds were not clean - some beds had hairs inside the sheets and on the pillows. Absolutely disgusting. Poorly managed.

Schönes Cottage. Ruhige Lage. Wenige Minuten ins Zentrum. Angela ist sehr hilfreich bei der Organisation von Abendessen.

Frühstück, hat Luft nach oben. Im Ort gibt es gute Alternativen.

a note - no14 cottage had no bulb in bedside light. Also mentioned to reception that the airconditioning in the empty cottage next door was continually running - as well as water dripping off that cottage roof

Aus der langen Liste an Ärgernissen, zur Warnung nur ein paar Ärgernisse: 15 Minuten vor der offiziellen Check-in-Zeit: „Da müssen Sie warten.“ - das Hotel war fast völlig leer Das gewünschte Zimmer konnten wir nicht bekommen, obwohl- siehe vorher Frühstück: ein weiches Ei bestellt: nach 3 harten Eiern und 40 Minuten haben wir aufgegeben Nachtruhe: Ab 5:30 Uhr hat eine Zerkleinerungmaschine der benachbarten Farm schlafen unmöglich gemacht - das Hotel hat einen Tag gebraucht, um sich zu entschuldigen Auf dem gesamten Grundstück gibt es (außer im BF-Bereich) keinen natürlichen Schatten: kein Baum wirft Schatten, die Autos stehen in der prallen Sonne Achtung: Die Bezeichnung Hotel ist irreführend. Es ist ein B&B ohne sonstiges Service. Resümee: Tulbagh ist ein interessantes Städtchen - diese Unterkunft kann’s einem verleiden

Wir haben die schlechten Bewertungen gelesen und können diese nicht nachvollziehen. Zwar hat das Restaurant geschlossen-dafür gibt es ein hervorragendes, warmes Frühstück und reichlich Käse- oder Wurstteller zur netten-und günstigen-Weinprobe. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Cottages sind nicht nagelneu-aber sauber und komplett eingerichtet. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse kann nur begeistern! Wir waren an dem besonders heißen Nachmittag sehr froh über den Ökopool. Wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen.

The restaurant had closed and we were unaware of it. The facilities are starting to look tired and some neglect is obvious. In this day and age remote guesthouses should have electric vehicle charging facilities.

Wir waren vor zwei Jahren für eine Nacht hier. Es war ein Traum, deshalb wollten wir diesmal länger bleiben. Die Lage ist traumhaft, aber das Restaurant, ein Hauptgrund unserer Buchung, ist dauerhaft geschlossen. Spätestens 17 Uhr ist alles dicht. D.h. ins Auto setzen und in den Ort fahren wenn man eteas essen oder trinken will. Die Sauberkeit sowohl im Cottage als auch am Pool ist schlecht. Die Kissen riechen gebraucht. Schade

Wir waren das dritte Mal dort und die Lage sowie Aussicht sind immer noch sehr schön und das Personal ist sehr freundlich,

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt nicht mehr. Im Bad hat es keine Handseife, keine Zahnbecher und die Tücher sind ein wenig schmudelig. Obschon es in Booking.com noch so steht, ist das Restaurant im März geschlossen worden.

Great views over the valley and lake. The beds were comfy and the gardens were well-kept. I enjoyed a dip in the eco-pool. Staff were friendly. We didn't have breakfast or make use of the other facilities like the bar, lounge, or restaurant.

No major dislikes. The rooms decor is slightly dated. The air conditioning unit was missing one of the two parts that direct the air. There were some cobwebs high up in the rafters (the units have open thatched roofs), that could use a long duster to clear them out.

Nous avons été souvent à cet hôtel sans savoir su il est devenu un guest house . La veille de notre arrivée on nous informe que personne ne sera présent et que les clés étaient dans les chambres et que à 18 hrs il y aurait qu’un . Rien personne on s est sentit très insécurités . Rien pas de barrière on n a pas vu de gardes le petit déjeuner le lendemain était assez sommaire et très chère. Nous n y retournerons plus. Dommage c est un bel endroit

Beautiful, peaceful setting, a very comfortable and spacious room. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Location to the surrounding attractions was very good.

Situated on the outskirts of Tulbach, it was easy to access various wine farms and restaurants during our stay. Spacious and clean with a nice view of a dam.

Although there was a coffee pod machine, there was no kettle to boil water for tea. Upon request the staff provided a thermos flask with hot water.
