Amazing location and views. Gardens. Wonderful staff.

The view from the room was absolutely stunning. The property is unreal. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is a nice addition if you're up earlier or in a bit of a rush. The art in the hotel is great.

The location is a bit removed, so you have to walk a bit extra to access the bus. It can also be a bit confusing to leave the property as there are a lot of twists and turns.

Best view i’ve ever seen. The staff was so nice. The room was small but felt cozy and not so small because of the high ceilings. The food was great, everything was clean… the place had such a good energy. There is an elevator to get up the castle thankfully! Just a tip, not a complaint, check the prices before booking the restaurant! It is very fancy 😅.

The breakfast was a challenge because there were a lot of wasps.

First of all, the service is excellent! Secondly, there’s so much to do just in Castello Aragonese that you really don’t even have to leave the grounds once you’re there (although Ischia is fantastic to explore)! The room was perfect, the view perfect-honestly this is the best place I’ve ever stayed. So much history.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Il Monastero. From the moment we arrived, we received such a warm and genuine welcome. The room is quite basic, but it has everything you need, including some lovely toiletries. And the view from the room is absolutely breathtaking! Breakfast was the best we've had so far, with a wonderful selection of fresh products from their own monastery garden. There was plenty of variety, and the staff were always happy to bring us a delicious coffee. Enjoying breakfast while taking in the beautiful view made it even more special. In the evenings, we also loved staying at the hotel and enjoying an aperitivo. There is so much to discover at Il Monastero, and you can really see that every detail has been thoughtfully considered and well taken care of. The staff were always incredibly helpful and happy to answer any questions we had, whether we needed advice about a day trip we wanted to take or help arranging a taxi. We really appreciated how helpful and attentive everyone was throughout our stay. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone, and we will definitely be coming back. A truly wonderful and unique stay!

One thing to keep in mind: we personally had no problem with this, but there is only a lift to reach the upper level, after which you still have to climb quite a few stairs to get to the hotel entrance. For this reason, we would not necessarily recommend it for people with limited mobility.

Deuxieme séjour dans ce lieu incroyable, avec toujours plus d'attentions, d'améliorations. Ce n'est pas un hotel, c'est une petite famille qui s'occupe de vous, qui vous parle, vous aide dans votre séjour. Tout est superbe, délicieux, préparé fraichement par l'équipe. Une vision de l'hospitalité comme on aimerait en avoir tout le temps. Je reve déjà de l'an prochain pour y revenir, cela va être long d'attendre...

Par moments, l'hotel peut etre un peu bruyant du fait d'avoir des portes en bois sans capiton, ou du passage dans le couloir, sur le carrelage, avec des murs bruts. C'est minime, mais si certains ont le sommeil léger, il vaut mieux prévoir des bouchons d'oreille.

Everything, the best view in ischia. The hotel restaurant is incredible, and the staff are absolutely perfect.

The walk to the room is a little long and involves quite a few stairs, so it’s good to know this in advance, as it may not be suitable for everyone. That said, I personally think it’s absolutely worth it!

Amazing accommodation - the views were amazing, the staff went above and beyond and the accommodation overall was a special place to stay.

This was an Ischia problem as a whole - but the mosquitos on the island really went to town on our legs!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Views were breathtaking. Rooms were small but cozy. Breakfast was simple but super fresh and delicious.

This is an amazing property, a great place, very unique.

The restaurant wasn't open on the night we stayed which was disappointing. All staff were lovely except for the woman at checkout, she was abrupt and rather rude.

Best breakfast of our trip! Incredible views and a dreamy, bucket list experience! The grounds were gorgeous, staff was lovely and visiting the castle grounds is included in your stay!

Liked everything. Taxi dropped us at the end of the long bridge to drag our bags in. You have to want it! Thankful for the young people who carried our bags to our room once we arrived at the entrance to the castle!

Le repas 6 services au restaurant. La nourriture était bonne mais le repas reste un des moins apprécié du voyage et à 120€ par personne sans vin ça ne vaut pas le coup. En restant à l'hôtel nous avons cette magnifique vue à tous les matins au déjeuner.

I love the property, the rooms were a bit spare, but I understand it was part of a monastery. I would say that the bed was slightly uncomfortable.

The staff were lovely, the location and views are amazing. Breakfast buffet was excellent! Despite niggles below, we would happily stay again - it's a very special place

Rooms felt quite cramped for two people, and those that face onto the terrace have to listen to the noise/music from the outdoor bar/dinner service in the evening. And minor issue, but earlier access to breakfast, or at least coffee before 8am would have been ideal.

The panoramic views. The herb and vegetable gardens that supply the restaurant with fresh vegetables and herbs. Wonderful places to sit and read and look up and admire the views. This is not a property for children. There is no swimming pool.

Our comment is not a dislike, it is more of a suggestion. Consider adding an umbrella by the two chaise lounge chairs on the level that has rooms 20 - 26. I cannot recall the exact room numbers, yet I am referring to this level.

Zero complaints!

The views were incredible! The staff were super helpful with every question. They set up a taxi for us when we had to leave early in the morning and gave us to go breakfast bags even though it was before breakfast hours, which was very nice.

I absolutely adore everything about the property. It made me feel like I am part of a fairytale. The castle garden was so beautiful and lush, the perfect place to withdraw from the the real world.

When it comes to hotels I am naturally very critical as I work in hospitality design but for this Hotel I can only use superlatives.

La décoration monacale est en accord avec le lieu, tout à été pensé avec une attention aux moindres détails. Une grande réussite, on se sent très bien. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la visite du potager qui au delà de toutes les cultures que nous avons eu l’occasion de déguster, est un véritable havre de paix. Le personnel, très nombreux est très attentionné et aux petits soins. Le petit déjeuner est très varié avec des produits de qualité dont certains issus du potager. Et enfin une mention spéciale pour le dîner au restaurant qui était un délice, aussi bien le menu terre que le menu mer, le tout face a un coucher de soleil féerique !

Dinner is only Prix Fixe. Rooms are on the small side. Access to the hotel in the castle isn’t direct. Many stairs to reception.

What a wonderful stay that exceeded all expectations. The view was unreal, the breakfast was so delicious and the staff were friendly - they made you feel like family. The gardens were my favourite - a perfect antidote to Napoli. Thank you!

Didn’t have a pool, but there is a beach club in the opposite bay if you want to swim.

Staying here is absolutely amazing - getting keys to the castle and being able to come back after dinner when all the tourists have left the islet. The breakfasts here were fantastic, the best we had during our holiday. The staff are wonderful, so helpful and kind. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else when visiting Ischia.

It is quite noisy until 11 or 11.30pm due to people having dinner and drinks right next to the room, that would be my only minor complaint. We also couldn't figure out if the AC worked or not.

Staying in Albergo il Monastero is an exceptional experience. You arrive from Ischia with the impressive view on the huge massive rock with the castle on top, and once you are up there, you discover stunning terrasses, churches, gardens and even a vineyard. We enjoyed the sunset on the terrasse with a bottle of vine from the local vineyard and it was an unforgetable moment. The staff is amazing and the rooms are good. Breakfast again was fantastic, home made bread, fresh fruits and a choice of cheese, vedgies, sausages, etc. You feel a bit like in paradise!

Lieu insolite et atypique! Un havre de paix avec une vue exceptionnelle, un personnel attentif des chambres simples mais confortable, un petit dejeuner de qualité et un diner digne d'un gastro ! je recommande vivement cette expérience qui a un certes un coût mais qui le vaut largement. On se sent vraiment privilégiés de pouvoir rester dans le monastère une fois les visites officielles terminées et de prendre un aperitif sur cette terrasse avec une vue à couper le souffle .A faire absolument car c'est un lieu unique !

Il personale è stato molto gentile è disponibile. La colazione era molto varia e fatta sul terrazzo con la vista su Ischia è stato fantastico.

La non presenza di un frigo in camera è stata una grossa pecca. La finestra della stanza dava direttamente sul terrazzo in comune dell'hotel e non dava molta privacy costringendo a restare sempre con le tende chiuse. Per il prezzo la camera era un po piccola.

Posizione abbastanza centrale, ottima la colazione e staff gentile, educato e molto disponibile. Bella la vista dalle camere con vista mare. Interessante il fatto di poter visitare il castello gratis per gli ospiti che vi soggiornano.

Camere un po’ piccole, non dotate di frigo bar che per i soggiorni nel periodo estivo diventa abbastanza scomodo perché non si ha possibilità di avere bevande fresche in camera. Tv non disponibile in nessuna camera Per chi vi arriva e fitta auto o scooter non vi è possibilità di parcheggiare in prossimità della struttura in quanto vige la ZTL

What else can i say but you are literally staying in a former monastery on a secluded section of ischia. You overlook a good portion of the sorrounding area. We did this as a splurge and it was 100% worth it. If you have the opportunity of staying here then I highly recommend it. The room was amazing. The view was even more amazing and the breakfast overlooking the ocean and the island amazing.

The only caveats to be aware of the ocean conditions because you may get stuck on the island if you book one of the hydrofoils so be prepared to switch to one of the bigger ferries which move a lot slower. Additionally, taxis that are not in the main area are basically non-existent. So stick to the bus routes that are busy and don't get off until you get to the busy destination you plan on getting to. The monastery itself amazing. The only issue we had was that the AC was not working but we went in the late fall so it didn't bother me

Amazing location on a rock off the eastern tip of Ischia, high up with great views of the island from all rooms. Il Monastero is a treasure, very friendly staff, great breakfast and excellent food at the restaurant and the adjacent cafe. A highlight are the gardens that provide comfortable spaces to hang as well as food and wine for the restaurant. Highly recommended.

As could be expected in a convent: most rooms are relatively small, there are a few bigger rooms though, worth the extra price.

Eine der schönsten Unterkünfte in denen wir je waren. Wunderschöne Aussicht. Super liebes zuvorkommendes Personal vorallem beim Empfang. Bei der Anreise ging es mir nicht gut und sie haben uns Snacks und Kuchen aufs Zimmer gebracht und waren so herzlich.

Die Zimmer sind eher klein und das Doppelbett besteht aus zwei einzelnen Matratzen aber das hat uns alles kaum gestört

This is an incredibly beautiful and unique property. How often do you get to stay in an actual castle? The views were amazing. Great breakfast. Kind and helpful staff. Clean and well kept. Staying includes free admission for a castle visit. 3

The castle is across a bridge from the main square and it takes a bit of time to get up the castle and to your room (you have to go up a long elevator and then up more stairs). Worth it, but could be a problem if you have mobility issues. The rooms are a little bit small and the "window" is double glass doors that open onto a patio that is used by other people (just FYI).

Our favorite hotel on our trip to Campania/Amalfi! Simple beauty, historic character, relaxing, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, lovely seating areas (be sure to ask the way to the hotel private gardens), stunning views abound. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, WiFi worked well. It opened directly onto the common terrace where we could sit and read or have a drink before dinner, with gorgeous views over the sea. We managed to get a reservation at the on-site dinner restaurant with a choice of tasting menus. It was a highlight of our trip. Short walk into the town of Ischia Port, across a historic stone causeway. So much character! Taxi EUR 20 to the hotel from Ischia Porto ferry (agree the price in advance) Not in any way a criticism, but realize that in a historic castle like this, there are stone stairs and cobblestone paths everywhere - all uneven surfaces. You are always going up and down, part of the charm. A lift takes you part of the way up from the bottom. We would love to return!! Three nights was too short!!
