Solo un detalle , se descompuso el aire acondicionado. Nos dieron un ventilador adicional,pero si cuidar la atención al arreglo y mantenimiento del aire.

Reviewed Aug 19, 2026La vista del mar es maravillosa desde la habitación y alberca. El lugar rústico y con mucha vegetaci9n me encanto. Un lugar muy relajado para estar.
Todo el lugar me gustó. Solo podría decir del acceso un poco difícil, ya que el hotel se encuentra en una pendiente de calle sin pavimentar y empedrada. Sin embargo con cuidado se llega bien.

Excelente atención del equipo, Angel es un gran anfitrión. Muy comprometido con el buen servicio. El hotel tiene el nombre de un gran libro, Océano Mar es una inmejorable novela de A. Baricco. Por favor, léanlo en éste lugar.
El acceso es un tanto caótica por el estado de la vialidad. No todas las habitaciones tienen aire acondicionado (la 3 no tenia). Y sugeriría mas privacidad para el WC. Valdria la pena extender el horario de bar/restaurante.

Reviewed Apr 18, 2026Beautiful oasis! We loved the friendly staff, pool, mosquito net, bar and restaurant (breakfast and lunch only, it closes around 3-4pm) and the fan in our room was very needed! Towels and pool towels and free chilled water were provided. It was very clean. We would definitely go back!
It’s a 15 minute walk from the beach but the walk is slightly hilly and rocky, which was hard in the heat!

Reviewed Mar 11, 2026The hotel is very charming. It's on the hill with beautiful views. The pool is refreshing after the walk back up the steps. There's a lovely cafe at the bottom of the steps. The room and private porch were lovely. There are several steps to take down to the street which some could find challenging but worth the view. Meremijito beach to watch sunset is a five minute walk. The town and rinconcito beach which is amazing for swimming is a ten/15 minute walk over quite a big hill on a dusty road in the dry season. Also not too bad after you get used to it. I loved my stay here.
The restaurant only served breakfast and then only on weekends maybe. The did make delicious beverages the whole time.

On est au calme mais en 5 minutes on est au "centre ville" La gentillesse du propriétaire qui nous a offert une chambre pour une nuit ( avec l'assassinat d'un baron de la drogue, nous n'avons pas osé laisser repartir notre fille aînée en ERASMUS sur Mexico, nous n'avions donc pas réservé pour elle de lit)
Dommage que nous ne pouvions pas prendre le petit déjeuner sur place, car la vue est paradisiaque mais c'est juste parce que la cuisinière était malade. Nous étions très rapidement en ville donc ce n'est pas problématique.

There is a ceiling fan in the room and windows had mosquito nets. The sound of the waves at night are very peaceful. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There are reviews that it's hard to get to the hotel via 'very steep treacherous' steps. However, we did not find this to be the case. It is also a short walk to a beach and very close to the viewpoint.

Reviewed Dec 24, 2025El conjunto del hotel en el paisaje me pareció hermoso. Se desarrolla por terrazas y las habitaciones tienen mucha privacidad. No está pegado al mar pero llega perfecto el sonido de las olas, además se llega caminando muy rápido. La vista es hermosa.
No me disgustó, porque me pareció bien para hacer ejercicio, pero la caminata al pueblo es algo cansada. Mucha pendiente y es pesado en el calor. Algo que a ciertas personas les gustará considerar.

Debería haber mas señalamientos donde dejar el auto ya que subí pero el camino incluso para llegar es poquito el camino pero de terraceria, definitivamente hace falta aire acondicionado en el cuarto y que el baño tenga puerta, si es privado pero que este abierto no me encanto.

Antes de ir saber que hay bastantes escaleras para acceder a las habitaciones. Estaría bien disponer de aire acondicionado.

Reviewed Oct 30, 2025The view from the pool was absolutely stunning, we couldn't believe it! Our room was also incredibly spacious and had a view looking right over the pool and beach. The staff were sweet and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious! The walk to the main town/village is quite steep (10 mins or so) but that was fine for us. Easy to access Punta Cometa too via a back route. Would highly recommend and wish we stayed longer - it all exceeded our expectations given the price!
Some people said the pool could use a repaint which is true but is such a minor thing and the pool is still so lovely irrespective of that! Also note that they don't have a card machine so you need to pay via cash or bank transfer

Reviewed Jul 18, 2025The view was 10/10. We were the only guests at the hotel, and it was unforgettable — very quiet, beautiful, clean rooms, a big pool, and a lovely garden. They gave us a room with a pool view, and it had everything we needed. We really liked this place.
The pool could use a fresh coat of paint to look nicer. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed during low season, so you can’t get coffee in the morning. Other than that, everything was great.

Reviewed Apr 15, 2025The room was confortable, the swimming pool and view are great. It was not crowded so a lot of quiet space to chill. We also really enjoyed the restaurant, chef Jan is amazing.
Even though we have the greatest room, there was no door separating the toilets, which is kind of awkward for a room at this price. Note that the WiFi is quite bad and can work or not on a random basis everyday. The staff does not speak English, which is a pity, but that’s a minor.

Reviewed Feb 27, 2025The room was gorgeous. Thatched roof, tasteful decor. Very comfortable bed and linens. Great shower which we used sparingly because of the water shortage. We loved the warm pool with a great view. Meals were excellent, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The view is fantastic. And we loved listening to the waves The only disappointment which isn't their fault is that another hotel, further down the hill, played loud music every night (techno one night) we were there from starting around 7:00 p.m. Thankfully they stopped by 10:00 but it took away from the peaceful beauty of the place. And we were there Sunday through Tuesday.. Again, it was not in their control and affected all the hotels in the area. I am still giving them 10 stars because the hotel itself was wonderful.

No privacy in my bungalow as people walk by and the manager was very annoying and kept disturbing us. Would like more relaxing private time.
Scorpions everywhere and no pest control. Lack of food and drink options and it’s quite a walk to the town.

Although it’s not in the middle of town, with stunning location with beautiful views of the beach, and the hills covered by jungle, this hotel really makes you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The pool is great and has beautiful views. It many hotels in the area have a pool, and it’s such a great feature to relax after the beach. The facilities feature a lot of flowering plants, so you constantly see tropical birds and butterflies, even hummingbirds. The on-site restaurant is excellent. The parking is convenient. The rooms are very spacious, stylish and comfortable, and even though there’s no AC they are fully equipped with mosquito nets. The staff was friendly and very helpful, we had an issue the last night and they helped us find a great solution.
The only thing that comes to mind to improve this hotel would be to include AC in the rooms and renovate some of the outdoor spaces (like the pool), which start to feel a bit old.

WiFi was a bit patchy in the room but fine in the restaurant/by the pool. Check in was a little confusing as no one was at reception - just go to the bar.

They stop serving food at 3pm, which is such a pity because it’s so tasty. The walk into Mazunte town is up two big hills so it’s not so easy to grab food. You can still get limited drinks but it’s something to plan ahead for if you are arriving after three. A private fridge in the room would have made it perfect :)

The pathway to get to the hotel can be hard on one's car. It seems like they are currently building a proper road there now so this might not be relevant anymore.

Reviewed Dec 18, 2022I don't usually post ridiculously positive reviews, but OceanoMar deserves every compliment. Everything was fantastic, but the crew deserves personal gratitude. After a bad Ceviche in a village nearby some caution had to be taken for my stomach. Thank you for the flexibility!
The name sounds like a cruise ship, but hey ... don't judge this book by its cover. It was the best hotel we had in three months travel so far. I can imagine if the hotel (8 rooms) are all full, the swimming pool could get busy, but we were lucky to have few other guests.
