Kalpavanam Heritage Resort

Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing stays of my trip in Kerala. From the moment I arrived, the welcome was cold and unfriendly. There was barely a greeting before I was asked for my passport, and I never felt genuinely welcomed as a guest. The atmosphere throughout the property felt strangely rigid and uncomfortable. Even dinner had to be decided and ordered well in advance, which made the whole experience feel more like following a schedule than enjoying a relaxing hotel stay. The restaurant was particularly uninviting, with very little atmosphere, and the overall experience did not match what I expected from the description and photos of the property. The location and surroundings have potential, but hospitality makes a huge difference — and unfortunately, that was what was missing most during my stay. For me, this property did not live up to expectations, and I would not choose to stay here again.

Super Beautiful Hotel in a cosy natural environment

Loved the buildings but most of all the staff are just BRILLIANT and were loads of fun and so kind to my youngest son, with whom I was travelling

I thought that there was a bit of rubbish here and there but nothing awful!

It's located in a good ambience with good surroundings, and buildings. The staff were very supportive.

The guests can be given the available choice of rooms to select.

A wonderful place to stay if you want to experience nature for a few days. The property was quiet, surrounded by greenery and nicely maintained. The room was spacious and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They also helped us with local recommendations, which made our stay even better. Great food, warm hospitality and an overall relaxing experience. Highly recommended!

En place des notre arrivée à ma demande Spetacle planifié avec tuk tuk le soir de l arrivée. Un plain rice pour mon fils malade. Et le lendemain également il a géré ce que nous souhaitions faire et même une négociation pour le safari en jeep..vraiment au top! Personnel de la cuisine également souriant avec le petit bonjour qui fait plaisir. Très bonne adresse!

The tree house and forrest.

When we first checked in we found the man unfriendly and not really welcoming. We quickly discovered there was only enough hot water for a 3 minute shower. When we notified them a man came to our room with something to put in a bucket of cold water to heat it?? We were expected to bathe with this. On our 2nd notification about the hot water the man said that the tree house hot water is poor and we should have booked a different room. We paid 12000 rupees especially for the treehouse nowhere did it mention the facilities advertised weren’t actually available. The wifi either didn’t work or was poor often cutting out. The fridge only works if your in the room as the key card operates this. Worst of all we returned at 1030pm after attending a cooking class to find that the gates were locked and we couldn’t get in. If it wasn’t for our tuk tuk driver repeatedly tooting the horn until someone came we wouldn’t have got in. There was never any mention of the gates being locked at any time. On check out we voiced our concerns to the same man, no apology, didn’t really seem to care and just made excuses. I would recommend looking elsewhere for something similar.

The location was superb. The atmosphere was calm n peaceful. Food was really good. Restaurant n other staffs were very cordial n friendly.

The people at the reception were not approachable and rigid.If not for them, this stay deserves a 10/10

Měli jsme krásný domek na stromě, jako v džungli. Pokoj byl čistý, uklizený, koupelna byla taky čistá. Vybavení pokoje bylo dostatečné - voda, antimosquito do zásuvky, toaletní potřeby. Velký výběr na snídani, vše bylo výborné. Ocenili jsme parkováni v hotelu.

Personál byl velmi vlažný, na to, kolik ubytování stálo bych čekala větší zájem a snahu, při check outu mě pán nechtěl pustit, dokud nezavolal někomu dalšímu, že je vše zaplacené (vůbec neměl přehled). Wi fi v pokoji nebyla vůbec (personál slíbil nápravu) ale nic se nezměnilo. Teplou vodou se osprchoval pouze jeden z nás, pak teplá voda došla.

The room was great. Sufficiently spacious and cozy. It would be even better during rainy/cooler months with the wooden panelling keeping the room warm. The setting in the middle of nature was great. You need to make sure you close the windows and doors after dusk so that you dont get insects in your room. The breakfast and dinner were awesome. Food was as good as homely food. The service was super. Kids loved the stay.

Everything was great. Only one minor issue to point.. the TV could have been bigger and the cable quality was poor for many channels. But unless you come to watch TV, it should not be a deal breaker. :).

What do you see is what do you get... They promised 1 large double bed and 2 double bed, and we got exactly the same including 2 bathrooms... Breakfast is really good, good stay if you are travelling with Kids

Værelserne er enorme og hotellets heritage stil er gennemført og fin. Dejligt med balkon, som vi brugte meget. Gode badeværelse med varmt vand. God udsigt til jungle.

Restauranten var ikke hyggelig. Maden var ok, men ikke imponerende. Beliggenhed lidt langt fra byen.

En rätt tråkig restaurang men frukosten var helt okej.

På ett fyrstjärnigt hotell förväntar jag mig städning varje dag, det var inte fallet här. Rummen på nedre botten var rätt tråkiga, mörka och en tråkig balkong. Vi hyrde även familjerummet och det var väldigt mörkt och badrummet var inte städat när vi kom.

Tree house is fantastic!

We stayed at the log house and had a really wonderful experience. The cozy rooms and beautiful wooden structure gave a charming heritage vibe, perfectly set amidst nature. The entire property is surrounded by lush green trees and spice plantations, making the stay peaceful and refreshing. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The staff was extremely supportive and courteous throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious, and the quality of the food was excellent. Overall, it was a memorable and relaxing experience. Highly recommended!

Nothing TBH. But one feedback, The bathroom floor was wet for hours after use you can provide a viper or an extra mat in the bathroom.

Beautiful picture property. Enjoyed every moment of my stay.

All the staff, especially the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent and they even shared a couple of their recipes with us. The rooms were enormous and the hotel situation was superb as surrounded by trees.

Very beautiful resort, and the rooms have beautiful architecture. Nestled in nature, surrounded by beautiful trees. The Elephant ride is just beside the resort. Good breakfast.

We regreat we spent only one night there, beautiful place in national park, super green! Very big room and bathroom, comfortable bad. Calm and quiet. Really tasty breakfast. Great view from the room and tarrace. Recommend!

Het personeel was heel vriendelijk en dacht mee bij het ondernemen van activiteiten en het organiseren ervan.

Le staff manager et le personnel sont sympathiques. Mais l’endroit est certainement plus approprié aux groupes qu’aux voyageurs individuels. La terrasse permet de voir les animaux, singes, écureuil, oiseaux … je pense qu’il faut prendre l’option des chambres haut de gamme pour s’y sentir bien.

Une chambre avec une fenêtre qui donne sur un couloir donc pas de lumière du jour, rapport qualité prix en deçà de bien d’autres offres.

This is a beautiful resort located within a spice plantation. We stayed in the Log house which has 2 bedrooms and overlooks spice plants and trees. Rooms are spacious and clean. It was beautiful to wake up and see a variety of native birds right next to our balcony. Food at the restaurant is excellent (although you need to place your order by about 5pm) and staff are very friendly. The resort is close to an elephant camp and a short car ride away from the town and cultural performance centre.
