Reviewed Sep 17, 2026Grosszügiges Zimmer, gute Betten, ruhige Lage! Tolles grosszügiges Frühstücksbuffet, es fehlte an Nichts! Das Hauseigene Restaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen, der Saison entsprechende Menues.
Alles war tiptop, kommen gerne wieder!

the location is a little out of town. about w ten minute walk. it's not far, but the last bit isnup a very steep hill. no problem if you have a car, but we did not. the staff would have picked us up with our luggage at the train station, but we didnt realize it was necessary. on returning they were very gracious about driving us down to the station

The panoramic view comes with a challenge of attempting to walk from the train station with a rolling suitcase. Either call the hotel for a ride, grab a taxi or, if you wish to walk, stick to the road and not the walking path.

Reviewed Jul 10, 2026Anlässlich eines Oldtimer Treffens im Appenzeller Land hatten wir das Hotel Freudenberg für vier Übernachtungen gebucht. Beim freundlichen Empfang fiel uns gleich die exponierte Lage mit dem herrlichen Blick über Appenzell auf. Das traditionell und geräumige Zimmer bot allen Komfort und vom Balkon den Blick auf den Hohen Kasten. Wenn es möglich war, nutzten wir auch das reichhaltige und äußerst schmackhafte Angebot des Restaurants. Zum Frühstück wurden frisch zubereitete Eierspeisen nach Wunsch geboten, bemerkenswert war zudem das feine Birchermüsli. Das gesamte Personal war sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und zugewandt. Am letzten Abend kündigte sich ein Unwetter an. Die Hagelschutzdecke, die ich über unseren kleinen Oldtimer gebunden hatte, drohte vom Sturm weggeweht zu werden. Das hatte wohl der Chef des Hauses mitbekommen, und er bot mir seinen Garagenplatz an und fuhr seinen Geschäftswagen auf den Hof. Ich wollte das zunächst nicht annehmen, aber Robert bestand darauf. Er hat sich somit als exzellenter Botschafter dieses wunderschönen und außergewöhnlichen Schweizer Kantons erwiesen. Wir kommen wieder, versprochen.

Reviewed Jul 7, 2026Habe zwei Nächte im bequemen Bett und bei offenem Fenster gut durchgeschlafen! Einfache aber stilvolle Einrichtung. Lift. Freundliches Personal. Offeriertes Getränk im Zimmer, gekühlte Getränke 24h bei der Reception erhältlich. Ausgiebiges und feines Frühstück auf der grossen gedeckten Terrasse, mit tollem Blick auf Appenzell. Hotel liegt am Hang knapp 70 Höhenmeter über dem Ortskern. Erreichbar auf Zufahrtsstrasse für motorisierten Verkehr oder auf befestigtem und etwas steilem Fusspfad, wobei letzteres mit Gepäck oder Betagtheit etwas schwieig ist.

It was extremely hot 36 degrees when we visited- no fan or fridge in room. This normally wouldn’t be an issue.

The location was up a steep hill, which made for great views, but was a bit difficult to climb up and down to get into town.

Habitaciones amplias con vistas, manteniendo y limpieza de las habitaciones excelente, y todo acompañado de un trato familiar, cercano y cariñoso por parte de TODOS los empleados, destacando a los propietarios del hotel y sin duda alguna a Dina, cuya profesionalidad y trato al cliente es digno de destacar por lo atenta y cariñosa que es con todos nosotros.

Reviewed May 27, 2026Our stay at the Panorama hotel was excellent! Robert and Barbara are very attentive and did everything possible to make our stay with them very comfortable, happy and memorable . Our room no 16 was lovely ! Large, very airy and the furniture was painted in the alpine tradition. The toilet was large had two sinks and a very good flow of water. The balcony had an amazing view and was a relaxing place to unwind after a day of hiking. The food is 5* I had the herb pork and the schnitzel with the best ever salad with so many varieties of veg! The breakfast too is a fantastic spread of different varieties of bread, cereals, cold meats, eggs cheese etc.. Etc.. The view from the patio where we sat to have our meals was simply breathtaking! I have no doubt the location of this guesthouse is the best in Appenzell! Robert goes that extra mile to give his guests a ride to the station/town and back if needed.

Reviewed Sep 30, 2025La grandeur de la chambre et de la salle de bain . Une terrasse confortable avec vue impressionnante sur Appenzell Le super petit déjeuner buffet , même des œufs à la demande . Un immense aquarium dans la salle à manger , avec de merveilleux poissons d’eau de mer ! Splendide. Lieu Très calme .
Il manque le seuil de la porte d’entrée de la chambre , donc lumière et bruit du couloir .

Reviewed Sep 30, 2025Een zeer vriendelijke ontvangst. Kamer met (overdekt) balkon met een schitterend uitzicht over Appenzell. Prima kamer en ruime badkamer. Ontbijtbuffet en tevens het avondeten is uitstekend. Gratis parkeren voor de deur.
Er is geen airco, maar die hebben wij ook niet gemist. Geen koffie/thee op de kamer. Wifi signaal en snelheid op de kamer was dramatisch slecht.
