La chambre dans la literie était d’un confort sommaire. Située au 1er étage donnant sur une rue ainsi que sur un parking entre nuit aurait été brève en raison du va-et-vient incessant de voitures une grande partie de la nuit sans compter que les rideaux des 4 fenêtres n’étaient pas du tout occultants. La surface disponible pour marcher dans la chambre était ridicule l’espace entre le lit et les fenêtres réduit à rien. En terme de désagréments et celui-ci n’est pas des moindres j’ajouterais que lorsque j’ai demandé où se trouvait le pain au petit déjeuner à un membre du personnel, je me suis vu demander si j’étais bien client de l’hôtel je dois dire que j’ai dû du faire preuve de beaucoup de retenue pour ne pas m’énerver tant ce comportement discriminant et pour le moins inapproprié m’a profondément choqué.

Reviewed Sep 7, 2026We loved everything! The location, the staff, the room, the breakfasts…. We can find fault with nothing. The Appenzell Guest Card was a nice perk as we stayed there for over three nights. It gave us free train and cable car rides in the area around there. The hiking is fantastic!

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Das Hotel liegt zentral im schönen Städtchen Appenzell. Das Restaurant, welches auch der Frühstückraum ist, könnte schöner nicht sein. Das Buffet am Morgen war sensationell und die Bedienung toll. Die Aussicht vom Zimmer Richtung Kronberg war fantastisch und die Lage sehr ruhig. Man fühlt sich rundum wohl und für kurze Zeit wie Zuhause.
Im Zimmer fehlt ein zweites Abfalleimer im Zimmer. Die Betten waren etwas fest durchgelegen.

Reviewed Aug 25, 2026This is a family run hotel, the owner was always around, helpful and very welcoming. It has a really authenic Swiss feel. The location is excellent, right on the main square. The breakfast was outstanding, with fresh bakery on site. The surrounding countryside is spectacular and with a complimentary Appenzell guest pass, you can ride the local trains ans cable cars for free.
Minor point, there was a heatwave and no air conditioning - that said, it would be difficuly to put air con in such a beautiful old tradtional Swiss building.

Zimmer mit Richtung Landsgemeindeplatz sind am Abend und in der frühen Nacht laut wegen dem Strassencafé im EG, das muss man einfach wissen.

Chambre agréable, possibilité d'avoir un petit déj a la boulangerie d'en face gratuitement (sur demande la veille) si on n'a pas le temps de le prendre à l'hôtel ou si on se retrouve en dehors des horaires du petit-déjeuner. Hôtel placé idéalement au centre de la ville au départ de la rue commerçante. Personnel très coopératif et sympa. Très bon restaurant.
Parking un peu petit. Pas de climatisation si vous arrivez en période de grosse chaleur.

Reviewed Jul 1, 2026Nos gustó todo, la Ubicación en la plaza céntrica, el edificio, excelente una pulcritud picas veces vistas, el restaurante es uno de los mas valorados de Appenzell. El desayuno, extraordinario. El Parking, cómodo en el mismo edificio. El Personal muy amable. Y por último he de destacar la atención del propio dueño, amable, atento a lo que necesites. Más no se puede pedir.

The staff was incredibly kind, and they were even able to clean our room quickly to allow an early check in. They communicated through booking and took great care of us! The room was more modern than we were expecting, which was very nice, and the view from our windows was mind blowing!!
The breakfast experience was a little confusing, but once we found where we were supposed to be, the food was tasty. Our key card also stopped working a few hours after we checked in, but that was a minor inconvenience that was quickly resolved.

Sometimes the elevator did not work to come downstairs.

Reviewed May 4, 2026Wunderbares Frühstück, mit allem was man sich wünscht. Die Lage ist sehr zentral. Es liegt am Landsgemeindelatz. Schön wäre es, wenn dieser wunderbare Platz verkehrsfrei wäre. Das Städtchen ist nicht so riesig, als dass man unbedingt mit dem Auto ins Zentrum fahren müsste.
Eine kleine Kaffemaschine im Zimmer wäre das Tüpfelchen auf dem i. Die Hotels rund um den Landsgemeindplatz lassen die ganz Nacht das Licht brennnen, als würden sie für den Stromverbrauch bezahlt.

The beer garden / outdoor area was nice for relaxing and enjoying a drink. It's a 5 minute walk from the main station and even closer to trams and trolley buses. A nice extra, they provide free tickets to the excellent Kunsthaus museum.

Reviewed Jan 7, 2026Vastaanotto hotelliin oli oikein miellyttävä ja ystävällinen. Aamiainen oli hyvä ja rauhallinen, kun menimme heti aamiaisajan alussa. Huone oli rauhallinen, sijainti erinomainen ja parkkipaikka oli mukavasti hotellin takaovella.
Ilmanvaihto huoneessa oli heikko (ikkunaa oli pidettävä pakkasesta huolimatta ajoittain auki), näkymä huoneesta (1.krs) oli melko vaatimaton. Aamiainen olisi saanut olla jonkun verran aikaisemmin (nyt alkoi klo 7.30). Ihan kaikkea booking.com -sivuilla olleita asioita ei huoneessa ollut, esim. vedenkeitintä.

Reviewed Nov 2, 2025Meinen Eltern hat das Zimmer sehr gut gefallen. Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral, wenige Meter von den Einkaufsstraßen entfernt. Der Bahnhof ist nur wenige Gehminuten weg. Jeden Morgen gab es frische Äpfel auf dem Zimmer und im Flur steht eine kleine Minibar mit Gläsern an der man sich bedienen kann (ein paar CH kostete es natürlich aber das ist nicht schlimm). Das Frühstück war sehr ausgewogen, man wurde gefragt ob man Frühstückseier haben möchte und wenn ja welche Art. Man konnte Getränkewünsche äußern (Kaffee, Tee, etc..) und man konnte sogar ein Glas Prosecco genießen. Die Kellner sind sehr aufmerksam!
Es war in den Nächten wohl sehr warm, es sind dicke Bettdecken vorhanden. Dies kann man jedoch problemlos am Empfang melden.

Waking distance to everything in town. One of my favorite places to visit as i grew up spending my summers near that area as a child. Will always return as long as i can. Beautiful area for hiking as well.
