All good
The location was convenient for what i was doing.
Whilst clean and tidy it is in need of some work.
It really was an wonderful experience with all the History attached to the accommodation
The room, dinner
There was no wifi in the room
Pleasant, polite staff, Meal was tasty and thoughtfully presented. Very beautiful garden. Warm, comfortable bed. Nice fire in the main lounge. Safe off-road parking.
My room. Very Old, chipped furniture, not well maintained. Bathroom window frames rusted, need paint. Old, 'past sell by date' towels. No printed instructions to help operate the TV, just a clump of plugs on a small shelf next to it, with a small hand written note attached to the bottom of the screen. Therefore could not turn on the TV. '50's, '60's and 70's music pumping through inside and outside speakers all day and evening.
Breakfast was good just had to wait a long time before we got served
Great garden and activities badminton etc Nice pub and the donkey in the bar delighted the grand children.
Room (garden cottage) was poor very cramped particularly bathroom an kitchenette, old bedding and bed. Dining room was cold, and food was not great. Very overpriced for what was offered.
Bathroom in Room 5 would benefit from an upgrade. Disappointed to be told that the Al le Carte menu was not available on the night we stayed. Only option was a limited "Weekly Specials" Pub type menu!!! When we approached by management at breakfast in the morning, we were told that the full menu was indeed available and was sorry that we were misinformed. This was our 4th time of staying at the Inn which was always perfect for a break from the journey from Hazeyview to the South coast.
Great spot to break the trip to or from Joburg. Stepping into the past. Bar has an amazing atmosphere.
The history of the hotel and the donkey visiting the bar.
The room we stayed in smelled musty. Curtains didn't completely cover the windows. Right next to highway. Old bed linen. Bathroom so tiny that you couldn't dress in it. I found dental floss in our bed which obviously meant that the linen was not changed after the previous guest. Breakfast was slices of cheap white bread, yoghurt, artificial juice, no cheese, no tomatoes. Eggs (both my husband and I ordered medium) waitress proudly came and asked who ordered the hard en who ordered the soft eggs. After telling her we both ordered medium she just stood there and didn't budge. I understand this is not a 5 star hotel but by all means this is definitely not even a 2 star hotel. My husband mentioned at checking out about the dental floss, no real reaction and when he suggested that they should mention to guests that the stable rooms are right next to the highway, the lady replied that she couldn't stop the trucks. Not at all what he said. I would suggest go there for a drink in the pub but if you like clean rather stay somewhere else.
Everything - food, service and value for money
Nothing
It's reminds me of years gone by. Real old fashioned hotel. Love the vibe
Nothing - all good
The two ducks in the duck pond seemed neglected
Staff where friendly and hotel had a lot of character and charm
Very cold inside except for the bar area. Fires and gas fires were not lite. Too cold to eat breakfast in the dining room
The staff there were excelled. the lady at reception going out of her way to move us to a bigger room with more space. the restaurant staff very friendly and the food were excellent. i will stay there any time again.

Quiter room
Staff are friendly and the place is quiet
Perfect location with lots of interesting history
Our room was located at the one side of the hotel with little natural light and felt a bit cold. The pub was very cold and did not stay for long because of it.
Was a fantastic time warp, thank goodness we stopped over

The surrounding area
We felt save and it was dog friendly. The staff were friendly. It was winter and we appreciated the hot bath and electrical blankets.
The chalet we stayed in needs to be upgraded and the bedlinen is old and needs to be replaced. I ordered mutton curry in the restaurant and received mutton without curry- very disappointed .
Breakfast was good as was the evening meal in bar. I like the old world charm of the establishment and particularly the open fire in the bar. This was not my first stay at the Green Lantern and it will nor be my last
Although the rooms in the main house are "quaint" they could do with a refurb
I did not like it.
Very old. Water to bath is COLD.
It's an old coaching inn, with a lot of history. Very good breakfast (extra cost, but reduced rate for residents). Good restaurant and bar.
The room was very cold, but eventually warmed up with air con on full, and welcome electric blanket.
Super convenient location. Friendly people. Great value.
Dinner and breakfast was very good. Communal sitting areas are decorated nicely and homely.
Toilet struggled to flush/ not a strong flush.

Beautiful property. Beautiful hotel. Love the donkeys and other little farm animals. Looked after very well.

Love staying at the Green Lantern - love the donkey!
All good.
The donkey visiting the bar. Beautiful big garden. Superb food.
We stayed in room 12, the tv was blurry and the signal weak.
Loved the donkey and the friendliest people.

Old-fashioned charm, parking secure and safe for travelers with loaded vehicles. Room was small but warm and comfortable.
Fantastic and friendly staff, very comfortable rooms and stunning garden. The staff went out of their way to accommodate me for a late check-out. Lots of character and interesting history. Would highly recommend as an N3 stopover
For our travelling purposes the position of Green Lantern was excellent. The Inn takes you back over 130 years in time and the warmth and character is unbeatable including having a drink with " Bojangles " the donkey in the bar and then settling down to a proper home cooked meal in exquisite dining rooms. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much effort for them/ Take a stroll around the beautiful gardens and then step back in time as you sink into an enveloping sofa in front of a good old log fire and watch black and white silent movies - My advice don't miss the place.
It is close to the freeway, providing a quick stopover during our trip
The check-in experience was poor. The bedding in our room did not look clean, we left immediately after seeing the state of the bedding!
Top top
Clean neat authentic
Beautiful garden, great play area for kids.
I feel like even if it is old it does not have to feel dusty everywhere. Needs carpets cleaned and couches cleaned in all main areas of the hotel.
The garden the staff and the location
pillows too soft
Lovely gardens, and great atmosphere
I loved how authentic it felt with all the old furniture and fire places. The bar was filled with memorabilia from hundreds of happy guests through the years, it was a warm and friendly place but my favourite part was definitely the donkey (Mr Bojangles) joining us in the bar.
I can't complain about anything, the staff were friendly and efficient.
Stunning gardens, fun pub
Small room, no milk for coffee

Great place to break the journey from the KZN coast to the highveld
Quirky old school SA dorp hotel.Lots of charisma.Lovely gardens.Good breakfast and dinner options.
Rooms are dated but quaint.Small repairs costing only labour required.Toilet holder not attaching, door screws loose that sort of thing.Everything clean though and good night's sleep
Olde world decor and ambience
Needs some TLC
Great stay as always. Lovely chat with the owners in the bar.over drinks. Great nostalgia. Lovely meeting Bojangles again.
Green Lantern delivers what it promises as always
What a pleasant discovery. This place is a gem. It has so much charm. Hard to imagine doing a trip to the coast again and not stopping over here. The food was excellent. First stop is the bar where you order your food from a menu of about 8 or so choices. We ordered for 18h00. Around the time you sit down in one of the dining areas. At 18h00 on the dot they paraded in with our food. Breakfast was great too. The service is particularly good, and anyone you ask will assist with just about any request. There's a huge lounge where the one wall is a movie screen constantly playing old movies, and the background music takes you back decades. The whole experience is just great.
You'd have to be a spoilt brat or a serious grouch to not like this little place. Old-world charm of course means it's a bit dated, but there was just nothing not to like.
Everything and the food is good. Garden is beautiful
Nothing. Everything was perfect
Always a great place to to stay
Lots of character and I always meet very interesting people.
It was a lovely experience will definitely stay there again
