Unfortunately, no breakfast was available at the property.

Reviewed Aug 29, 2026Die Lage ist einfach spitze! Außerdem ist der Pool super schön angelegt und man kann hier ein paar ruhige Stunden verweilen. Insgesamt ist die Unterkunft ruhig gelegen, abseits vom Straßenlärm. Das Personal hat für uns preislich fair eine Lagoon Safari sowie eine Safari in den Kumana Nationalpark organisiert.
Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis ist nicht ganz passend. Wir fanden es etwas teuer, dafür dass die Zimmer nur sehr Basic ausgestattet sind. Das Bett ist sehr hart.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026The hotel is close to the beach and the main spots in town. We stayed in the private room for the first part of our stay and then in the mixed dorm for the second part of our stay. Both rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was professional and always ready to help.

המזגן היה נוראי הדלקנו מזגן ומאוור ביחד ובחדר היה עדיין חם ביקשנו לעבור חדר הביאו מפתח לחדר אחר שגם שם הייתה את אותה הבעיה אין בחדר שום ציוד מעבר למינימום הנדרש - אין מקרר אין קומקום/כוסות לקפה תה וכזה אין כספת לשמירת החפצים היקרי ערך אין מסך טלוויזיה הגענו והשמיכה הייתה מלוכלכת ביקשנו שיחליפו האיש נעלם ולא חזר עם שמיכה ירדנו לקחת אחת בעצמנו מהקבלה בקיצור לא שווה את המחיר היינו במקומות אחרים באזור שעלו באותו סכום והיו הרבה יותר מאובזרים ונוחים

Reviewed May 3, 2026The pool and overall space is lovely but bigger than it looks in the pictures. Our room was really spacious and kept very clean with fresh towels each day. We were a short walk from the beach and plenty of restaurants. There were also 2 power cuts during our stay and we were impressed and pleased with how cool the room stayed in that time. Our shower was also hot (when we had power).
Because it was low season the restaurant was closed, which we were keen to enjoy. Other guests were also quite noisy at night and poolside but that can be expected.

Pasaban a limpiar la habitación todos los días, cosa que no habíamos visto antes en el resto de nuestros alojamientos en Sri Lanka
El agua de la piscina un poco turbia, pero no le vi mucho problema.

Reviewed Oct 2, 2025Very enjoyable 2 nights at Surf Gang. We would have stayed longer but had already booked elsewhere. Nice large room with balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. Super clean amenities and loved the large pool for a refreshing cool down. Staff was super friendly and helpful and organised surfboard hire and excursions. Would definitely recommend.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2025L'hôtel à une très belle architecture, le jardin et la piscine ont beaucoup de charme. Les chambres sont aménagées avec goût. L'emplacement au cœur de Arugam Bay est idéal.
Autant nous avons trouvé le personnel des cuisines et de l'entretien très sympathique, autant celui de l'accueil était froid et expéditif. Quand nous les avons sollicité pour des activités touristiques, ils nous ont proposé des tarifs plus cher que ce que les autres tour operator appliquaient. Nous avons également été régulièrement dérangés par d'autres vacanciers qui écoutaient leur musique à fond dans les parties communes et notamment autour de la piscine sans que le personnel n'intervienne.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2025We zijn drie nachten geweest in Surf Gangs Arugambay. Ons verblijf was prettig. Fijn zwembad en mooie groene binnentuin. (Betaald) ontbijt was prima. Het hotel ligt centraal en aan de grote weg maar daar merk je niets van qua geluid. Op een paar minuten lopen ligt een fijn strand.
De kamers zijn een beetje sfeerloos (betonnen muren, geen decoratie).

Reviewed Aug 14, 2025Voor ons verblijf hadden wij geboekt bij Surf Gangs. Wat als eerste opviel was de perfecte ligging aan de hoofdstraat van Arugam Bay. Vanaf hier was vrijwel alles lopend te doen, waardoor wij niets kwijt waren aan tuk tuks. Het hotel zelf ligt rondom een mooi zwembad. De kamers zijn erg ruim. Ik zou zeker opnieuw boeken.
Wij hadden geen ontbijt genomen, maar het restaurant nodigde ook niet per se uit. Hier zou echt wat moois gemaakt kunnen worden. Verder nauwelijks minpunten.

No fridge or kettle, etc. No menus in the room or out on tables in eating area. Staff weren’t as warm and welcoming as everywhere else we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka and it seemed relatively expensive for what it was compared to other stays.

Verbleven in de vrouwelijke dorm. Nauwelijks een straal uit de douche, en de badkamer was ontzettend vies. De badkamer werd niet echt goed schoongemaakt terwijl wij er met 6 vrouwen gebruik van maakten, en de vrouwen die er verbleven dagelijks wisselden. Op dag 4 stonden wij te douchen met een put vol haren van misschien wel 10 verschillende vrouwen. Ook werd er ineens een man in de dorm geplaatst en pas gewisseld toen wij nadrukkelijk hebben aangegeven dat wij er ons niet prettig bij voelde. Tenslotte was het zwembad op sommige dagen zo vies dat je er niet in kon zwemmen. Het zag gewoon groen. Door de tuin lag veel poep van de honden, wat niet opgeruimd werd. Overdag was er een jongen van het personeel wat heel hard zijn eigen muziek en reclames bij het zwembad afspeelde terwijl er geen behoefte aan was door de gasten, enkel door hemzelf. Het was erg storend. Als je op zoek bent naar een sociaal hostel kan ik het ook afraden, er verblijven meer gezinnen.

Reviewed Jul 16, 2025Great location. Easy to get around to shops, restaurants and the beach. The property has a big pool that is nicely shaded. We didn’t eat but there is a little restaurant and you can buy drinks. Super lovely staff and some adorable dogs that live on the property.
We had a room with a noisy pump sound that went through the night and made it hard to sleep. Ryan the owner was very helpful though and tried to get it sorted for us asap. Otherwise everything was great!! Lovely staff.

Reviewed Jul 4, 2025Surf Gangs is located on the main road close to all the restaurants and the beach so it is extremely convenient. The rooms are built around the pool so it is very quiet in the rooms and you don’t notice you are on the main road which is very nice. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful in getting us a scooter and taxi. The room gets cleaned every day which is also a bonus. Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay here - we will be back!!!

Reviewed Jun 30, 2025Das Zimmer ist minimalistisch gehalten, aber völlig ausreichend und vor allem sauber.
Beim Eingang/Rezeption saßen immer so viele Männer herum; die waren zwar nett, aber trotzdem teils etwas einschüchternd. Und irgendwie hatte das Hotel keine Seele. Fände es auch nicer, wenn es mehr Infos gäbe bzw offizielle Preise wie viel zb ein Surf Guiding / ein Surfboard kostet. Das Essen im Hotel-Restaurant ist stabil und den ganzen verfügbar, aber man kriegt für den gleichen Preis/weniger Geld in den umliegenden Lokalen doch etwas besseres Essen.
