Depuis notre arrivée, c’est le meilleur logement que nous ayons eu. L’hôte, Basheer, était incroyablement accueillant et gentil. Le logement était très confortable, avec une moustiquaire et la climatisation. Le balcon était un vrai plus. Basheer nous a proposé plusieurs activités organisées directement par lui, et nous avons fait du surf et un cours de cuisine, deux expériences formidables. Le petit-déjeuner était exceptionnel ! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We needed to change our reservation last minute from 3 to 2 days and they made it possible which was very nice from them. The breakfast is basic but nice. It feels boutiquy because of the friendliness of the staff. In terms of location, it's on the quiet side of Arugam bay so 10-15 mins walk from main restaurants.

The rooms are in need of an upgrade (which in fact is the case of most of the places we stayed at in Sri Lanka). Specifically they need to focus on health and safety - too many rusty metals in the room and the facilities and it's so easy to get a scratch. I would start with the door and toilet handles.

Es ist wundervolle hier! Die Zimmer sind schön und sauber und auf dem Bett schläft man sehr gut. AC und Deckenventilator im Zimmer. Der Balkon mit Liegestühle, Hängematte und Deckenventilator macht die Abende perfekt. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Frühstück und alles ist köstlich. Aber das größte Lob, gilt dem Personal, vor allem dem Manager Basheer. Er kümmert sich um alles, damit man einen tollen Aufenthalt halt, gibt wertvolle Tipps über die Region, organisiert viele tolle Touren und ist ein sehr liebevoller Mensch.

The hotel is close to the main town avenue and shops and it is also very close to the beach too.

Accomodation exactly as advertised :) Brilliant breakfast - ordered from a menu the night before, so it's ready in the morning when you want it Super helpful staff. Clean, well thought out room. Comfy chair outside at front to relax with a fan. Fantastic quiet location but right by beach and away from road.

I agree with the reviews previously. Basheer is a great host and a very kind man. He organized all our tuk tuks and surfing. He even did a clothes wash for us for free. We stayed five nights and ate at the hotel on three of them. The room has great air conditioning and is clean. It's basically furnished and bathroom is simple but fine - everything works 🙂. Location is great - as others have said it's really near the beach and at the end of the main street so quiet without being a long walk from most restaurants.

Maybe a few more bits in the rooms would be useful - eg tissues, more space to put clothes. But really nothing major.

Sehr saubere Zimmer, es hat fantastisch gerochen, Fön und genug Ablagefläche im Bad und Zimmer. Die Hängematte gab allem nochmal das Extra für ein paar entspannte Stunden. Das Müsli und die Pancakes waren unglaublich gut. Basheer und seine Frau sind unglaublich herzlich! Großartiger Service. Uns wurde ein Fahrer nach Ella organisiert, der sogar billiger als Pick.me war. Danke für alles

Die Klimaanlage dröhnt ein bisschen aber wir konnten sogar ohne super schlafen, da das Zimmer auch so eine super Raumtemperatur hatte.

Basheer is an exceptionally kind and attentive host who always greets his guests with a smile. He seems to anticipate your needs before you even have to ask. The breakfast is outstanding, offering a wide variety of delicious options, especially the freshly prepared local dishes. The rooms are spotless, the beds are huge and equipped with mosquito nets, although we didn’t encounter that many mosquitoes at the end of July. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable throughout our stay. The location at the quieter northern end of Arugam Bay was perfect, close enough to everything while being far away from the late-night party noise.

We've spent four nights in this guesthouse, and really enjoyed our time there. Our room was large and clean, and the highlight was the balcony with a hammock. The location is wonderful, a few steps away from the beach, on one side, and the busy street with all the restaurants and shops, on the other. Specifially, Basheer, the manager was very hospitable and friendly, and he attended to our requests with utmost care.

Sinceramente, nos sorprendió muchísimo la puntuación de este alojamiento porque nuestra experiencia fue muy diferente. Agradecemos que nos ayudaran con una emergencia, ya que en ese momento fueron muy amables, pero el resto de la estancia nos decepcionó.

Las instalaciones están bastante descuidadas, el lavabo estaba embozado y la relación calidad-precio no nos pareció justa. Además, las fotos crean unas expectativas que luego no se corresponden con la realidad, y el desayuno fue, con diferencia, el más pobre y menos apetecible de todo nuestro viaje. Para rematar, después de irnos nos escribieron varias veces pidiéndonos que les pusiéramos un 10, algo que nos resultó bastante incómodo.

The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable with great air conditioning. The highlight is the host Basheer - he is so lovely and accommodating and provides an excellent breakfast. It is situated at the quiet end of the town but you can easily walk to the main busy area or can get a tuk tuk.

Solo traveler who is a bit older than the "backpacking" crowd, thus enjoying a bit more comfort, yet doesn't want to spend an unreasonable amount for accommodation here. This was the perfect find. I feel super lucky to have stumbled upon this gem in Arugam Bay. It's a bit out of the center, which allowed me the distance from the chaos of bars/raves/shops. Basheer, the host, is super helpful. He will be there to answer any questions or requests you may have. When the deal is not better than the one you can find elsewhere, he will be honest about it too and does not give you trouble about getting services from. I think some guests may have found the construction in the front disturbing, but I didn't hear much of it once in the room, and they don't operate at night, so I didn't find it to be bothersome whatsoever. Wifi is better than some of the hotels that were twice or thrice its price around Sri Lanka. The room also gets cleaned every two days, which made it super easy and comfortable. The bed had a mosquito net, but we never really had mosquito/gnats issues while there. Breakfast, fresh juice drinks, scooter, ride shares, tours... whatever your inquiry is, Basheer will have an answer. Even if you don't get it from him, it's a great way to figure out the market price, and he remained consistently helpful and respectful whether you take the service from him or not. One big thing is that it's easy for host/owners to be kind to you while you're there, or when things are good. I think character/professionalism shows when things go "wrong" and that is brought up. I had such a moment with Basheer, and his response was the kindest, most respectful, and professional. It's, to me, the actions and response to uncomfortable things that show the character of the person and the service, and I can say every time I come back to Arugam Bay, I would choose Aqua Blue all over again!

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Basheer, the owner and manager of the hotel, was incredibly friendly and always ready to help. He also offers tours and other activities, such as safari to Kumana National Park, surfing lessons, Lagoon safari and so on. It takes just a minute to walk to the beach. The breakfasts here were delicious. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.

We loved our stay here! The accommodation was super and the location is perfect, just a minute from a beach where there are not many people. The center, nice viewpoints, and surf spots are all very close. Basheer is amazing, he always helps and gives the best advice. Also, breakfasts were so delicious.

Отличное расположение в тихом месте, одинаково близко, как к океану, так и к главной улице, в стороне от тусовок. Для нас это был принципиальный момент. Очень чисто, апартаменты простые, но все для жизни есть, тем более, что практически все время мы проводили на пляже. Здесь нет видов из номера, но есть волшебный гамак, ухоженный садик, где живет хамелеон и растут манго с ананасами. Бэби Пойнт находится в противоположной стороне пляжа, но этот момент решался при помощи тук-тука, который по первой просьбе вызывал хозяин Башир. Он готов помочь, практически, с любым вопросом, будь то вызов тук тука, такси, организация сафари или серфинга. Простые, но вкусные разнообразные завтраки, свежие соки и фрукты, на обед можно попросить себе яичницу или опять-таки фрукты, а если хочется чего-то более разнообразного, то рядом располагается приятный Salty bar, в котором мы часто ужинали. Смело ставлю 10.

Formidable accueil, la chambre est grande et très propre avec un grand balcon terrasse. Très bon petit déjeuner avec un excellent café. Plein de bons conseils pour les activités à faire aux alentours.

Had the most amazing stay here at Aqua Blue! The rooms were perfect with everything you need and the location was also great. The best thing about our stay was the host Basheer who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay possible :) He is the most friendly and welcoming person and helps with anything that he can! If Clothes Make the Man then Basheer makes this Hotel. Its everything that all the other reviews have mentioned but the helpfulness positivity and joy that Basheer brings simply makes it.

Basheer is a top notch host. No matter what you need, he will get it done at any time with a smile. He quickly organised some activities to ensure that my stay in Arugam Bay was the most complete experience, and also arranged the transportation to wherever I wanted to go. Breakfast is delicious, it shows that it is prepared with much care.

The location does not bring breathtaking views from the room, but it's ok, as we are supposed to explore and enjoy the surroundings, not stay inside :)

Everything! We felt so at home here, we didn’t want to leave. The room was spotless and just as pictured. Basheer was an incredible host, could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The laundry service was also a huge help. The breakfast choice was unreal, the shakshuka and Sri Lankan breakfast were so so good. I will miss that very much! My only comment would be it would be great to have a television in the restaurant for the World Cup!

We had a great stay at Aqua Blue ! It's very close to the beach and all the restaurants. The room is comfortable and the breakfasts are so delicious and very big. The owner Bhasheer went above and beyond for us and really made the stay great.

The owner is so nice and helpful! We got into a little accident with the bike we rented from him and he helped us recover easily and offered to pay for charges. Anything else we needed he provided with a smile!

The only minus is the construction in the building right near the hotel. The owner said it’s illegal and that they’re supposed to stop by the end of the month. Aside from that, it’s not so close to the center of town, and we found some cheaper hotels closer to the center, so have that in mind.

La chambre est très spacieuse. La literie est superbe : c’est le lit et l’oreiller les plus confortables de tout notre voyage au Sri Lanka ! Le drap est très grand et très confortable aussi. Les petits déjeuner sont variés et tous délicieux. Basheer qui dirige cet établissement est juste incroyablement gentil et prévoyant. Il veut que tout se passe bien et ça se ressent complètement. Nous avons prolongé notre séjour de 3 nuits tellement nous nous y sommes bien sentis. Il est excrément arrangeant concernant l’heure du petit déjeuner et a vraiment envie de nous rendre notre séjour exceptionnel. Grâce à lui nous avons fait un safari exceptionnel au parc de Kumana (et avons vu 2 léopards alors que nous n’en avions pas vu à Willpatu). Nous avons également pu prendre des cours de surf grâce à lui. La terrasse est très agréable, avec jolis fauteuils et hamac. Avec même un ventilateur au plafond. La climatisation fonctionne super bien et il y a également un ventilateur mural dans la chambre. Les 2 ne font pas de bruit. La salle de bain est super, et le début de l’eau était nickel et l’eau chaude fonctionne parfaitement ! L’hôtel est situé au bout de la rue d’Arugam bay, ce qui permet d’être loin de l’agitation (0 bruit dans la chambre juste les oiseaux) mais tout est accessible à pied. C’est à dire à 2 minutes de la plage (même pas) et à 10 minutes de l’agitation de la ville avec tous les restaurants, bars. Donc un excellent compromis. Il est situé proche des différents spots de surf : le main point se trouve au bout de la plage donc accessible à pied (il y a des locations de planches sur place). Sinon les autres spots sont accessibles en tuktuk facilement. Bref on a vraiment adoré loger dans l’hôtel de Basheer, on s’y sent tout de suite bien.

The host Bassher has to be one of the most incredible hosts I have ever been with, not only was he helping me figure out ways to get from Arugam bay to Ella after I had been scammed but he was always online messaging with activities to do, what food to have for breakfast. He is such a down to earth guy and I will miss him so much when I leave Sri Lanka. Can’t wait till we meet again my friend, thankyou for the best stay.

Basheer the host is a beacon of friendliness and hospitality and the rooms are everything you need, clean, with hammock, good working a/c, nice and big bed and a private terrace/balcony in front. The breakfast which is included is super tasty and just in general great value for money!

The property is at the start of town, close walking distance to everything yet quieter at night times. Walking distance to beach!

It was such a nice stay, and amazing rooms!! The owners went over their way to decorate our room for our anniversary🙏🏼 thank you so much. Pancakes for breakfast was lovely aswell as the shakshuka. Felt very safe and was a perfect place to relax. Location was good so close to the beach and they also provided beach towels. 10 minutes walk from main part of the city, but very walkable and easy. Very clean.

My stay at Aqua Blue Arugam Bay was absolutely phenomenal. Basheer and his team were incredibly accommodating, making the experience truly special from start to finish. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, and breakfast exceeded expectations with an impressive variety of options. A lovely finishing touch was the hammock on the private balcony — a feature most, if not all, rooms enjoy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

From the moment we arrived, we got welcomed with fresh fruite juice and a great explanation on activities and suggestions to do around Arugam bay, we booked the safari with them and was fantastic!🐆🐘. Every morning we had a choice of different things for breakfast, we loved the Shakshuka so delicious! Room and aircon where great! Beach a couple of steps away. Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Basheer is a great host - always smiling and happy to help you. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and they have a big balcony. I would 100% recommend this place. Great value for money. The shakshuka and avocado on toast are both very tasty as well.

Aqua Blue is in a great location, metres from the beach on the quieter end of town but with all the bars and restaurants a short walk away. Basheer was extremely welcoming and helpful in arranging tuk tuks and a lagoon tour (which was excellent), and the breakfast shakshuka was delicious - a great stay!

Best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka! Amazing value for money, Basheer was very welcoming and even let us do our laundry for free! It’s also located right next to the beach and close to the town.

Unser Aufenthalt war einfach wunderbar. Der Inhaber war extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit – wir haben uns bei ihm rund um die Uhr sehr wohlgefühlt. Er hat uns bei der Weiterreise geholfen, wir konnten unsere Wäsche waschen und er hat sogar abends für uns gekocht. Das Zimmer war sauber und die Betten sehr bequem. Außerdem gibt es in der Unterkunft einen wunderschönen Garten. Es tat uns wirklich leid, abreisen zu müssen. Vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt!

Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und man konnte sich jeden Tag etwas anderes aussuchen. Das Zimmer ist groß und das Bett sehr bequem. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Wir wurden bei unserer Ankunft sehr freundlich vom Objektmanager begrüßt & alles wurde erklärt, und ein Begrüßungsgetränk gab es auch. Es gibt leider keinen Wasserkocher, Kaffee, Tee oder frisches Wasser auf den Zimmern, so wie wir es eigentlich von allen anderen Unterkünften in Sri Lanka kennen. Nur einen Fön, Moskitonetz & ein kleiner Kühlschrank ist im Zimmer. Auch an der Rezeption gibt es im Kühlschrank nichts, nur bei Nachfrage, schade. Da ist auf jeden Fall noch viel Luft nach oben & Verbesserungspotenzial!! Auf unserem Balkon hat leider ein 2. Stuhl gefehlt, so wie es bei den anderen Zimmer ist. Dafür haben wir in der Hängematte gechillt!! Das Hotel bezahlen geht nur mit Bargeld, so wie viele andere in Sri Lanka meist nur mit Bargeld zu bezahlen sind. Die Klimaanlage kühlt sehr stark, der Ventilator funktioniert erst ab Stufe 3. Da das Bad durvh einen großen Vorhang vom Zimmer abgegrenzt ist, bleibt und wird es im Badezimmer immer sehr warm, da die Fenster offen und nur mit einem Gitter verschlossen sind. Unser Zimmer war bei unserer Ankunft wahrscheinlich schon lange nicht mehr benutzt worden, da wir im WC sehr sehr viele Ameisen hatten und das WC nicht richtig gereinigt war, wir haben dann erstmal selbst gereinigt. Die Dusche funktioniert, Warmwasser kommt auch raus. Der Kühlschrank muss dringend mal richtig gereinigt werden, da er verschimmelt ist, durch das ständige ON & OFF, deshalb riecht es modrig und schimmelig im Kühlschrank. Auch die Klimaanlage könnte mal ne Reinigung vertragen, wenn sie Nachts öfter läzft, muss am nächsten Tag zwingend durchgelüftet werden. Für den Preis von ca 25€ in der Nebensaison Mitte März 26 ist das Zimmer ok, in der Hauptsaison kostet es wahrscheinlich das doppelte, was dann der Preis Leistung nicht mehr so ganz entspricht. Die Gartenanlage vor den Zimmern im Erdgeschoss ist sehr schön grün & gepflegt und lädt zum längeren Verweilen ein. Für die Sicherheit sind überall Kameras installiert.

nothing to say in general :) we were in low season start of march there, so unfortunately no restaurants and cafes were open around the hotel, but in high season it would be definitely different 🤙🏽

We stayed five nights at Aqua Blue in Arugam Bay and had a very pleasant experience. The room was comfortable and the location is beautiful, very close to the beach. Basheer is a kind and attentive host. He was always available if we needed anything and regularly checked whether we would like the room to be cleaned. We were provided with bath towels as well as beach towels, which was very convenient. On our last evening, he prepared a meal for us after Ramadan, which we really appreciated. The breakfast each morning was also very good. We would definitely recommend staying here and would happily return ourselves.

Situated in a good location off the main strip. Basheer ran Blue Tours safari to Kumana National Park that was amazing to see leopards.

Pleasant accommodation in a great, quiet location. Spacious and clean room with a comfortable bed and a lovely balcony. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The Wi-Fi was working intermittently. As it was not high season, the breakfast was simple. It would have been nice to have at least some fruit or freshly squeezed juice offered.

Leider konnte im Zimmer die Badtür nicht geschlossen werden. Die Kosten für Transport der über die Unterkunft organisiert wird ist extrem teuer im Vergleich zum marktüblichen Preis.

Frühstück

Alles war gut, schöne Terrasse mit Hängematte, Barsheer als Gastgeber sehr bemüht. Frühstücksauswahl top. Sehr guter Kaffee.

We stayed here for five nights and it was just perfect for us. Basheer, the owner is such a supportive and nice guy and he cares about everything really well. We booked a safari tour and a transport with him and were really happy. The breakfast is delicious and the location is really good sind it‘s not far to the beach, restaurants and the lagoon. The room was nice and clean and we enjoyed it really.

Unterkunft war gemütlich und vor allem sehr geräumig mit einem eigenen Kühlschrank. Die Lage war auch gut, man war schnell im Zentrum und am Strand. Frühstück war mega, besonders die Saksuka with bread die smooth bowl ist auch mega :) Basheer war sehr nett und hat uns bei Fragen weitergeholfen.

Barshieer, the manager of Aqua Blue, is very helpful and accommodating, and their breakfast is fantastic. His wife is also very nice and friendly, and you can ask him anything at any time; he'll be happy to help. The rooms are also cleaned regularly.

Schöne und ruhige Unterkunft, sehr gepflegt und sauber. Das Frühstück ist top und der Host super freundlich – nimmt sich Zeit für alle Fragen. Klare Empfehlung! Besonderer Tipp: Am Empfang steht ein Carrom-Brett (Finger-Billard). Nehmt euch die Zeit und lasst euch das Spiel erklären – es macht riesigen Spaß!

На окраине оказался отель, мало полочек и нет шкафа Сказали стирка одежды бесплатно, а потом запросили оплату ! Неприятно было ( почему нельзя сначала сказать цену) хотя персонал сам приветливый. Завтраки не вкусные и слишком высокая цена 75$ за такие условия

Super friendly and welcoming owners. The room is simple but has everything you need and was spotless and in a nice quiet street just off the main road. The Shakshuka was the best I've ever had. Id go back just for that. Thank you Basheer.

L’allotjament està molt net, les instal•lacions son perfectes!! L’esmorzar és bonissim i pots triar el que més et vingui de gust :) L’atenció del Basheer ha estat molt bona.

Spacious, comfortable, very clean rooms with fridge and safe, good airco, nice bathroom and terrace. Very well situated, just out off the busy centre, quiet and still only a few minutes walk to several good restaurants. Varied and tastefull choice for breakfast, good lunch and dinner on demand. But best of all is the kind and welcoming host Basheer who does everything to ensure you have a pleasant stay! He speaks very good English and can arrange different activities. He arranged surf classes for our teenage sons with experienced teachers at a good price who took them to the best surfing spots, lagoon safari, in-house cooking class and transport to our next destination. And the gentile tuktuk-driver Haroun was always there to take us where we needed! Thanks Basheer and Haroun for the nice time in Arugam Bay!
