Les maisonnettes sont magnifiques et confortables, depuis notre terrasse nous avons vu plusieurs animaux, le safari proposé est très bien (bien qu’un peu plus cher que la moyenne), la chambre est propre et les espaces extérieurs sont magnifiques

Le petit dej est vraiment pas top, la chambre n’a pas été faite et le personnel semble absent Des chaises longues pour se reposer l’après midi après le safari serait vraiment un plus

Es handelt sich um kleine Holzhäuschen - insgesamt vier auf dem Gelände, die sehr gut ausgestattet sind und einen schönen Balkon zum Fluss dahinter haben. Die Anlage ist gepflegt, mit wunderbaren Blumen und einem Pavillon, in dem man Frühstücken oder auch, nach Wunsch, Abendessen kann. Wir hatten ein Abendessen gebucht und waren sehr zufrieden damit. Die ganze Anlage ist abgelegen, fast wie im Dschungel, nur ca. 10 km vom Unawatuna Nationalpark entfernt. Es ist auch abends bzw. nachts alles gut beleuchtet. Das Holzhäuschen hat alles, was man braucht, abends kann man auf dem Balkon sitzen und dem Tierstimmen in der Natur lauschen - ganz wunderbar. Wir können die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Sie organisiert auch Safaris in den Nationalpark zu angemessenen Preisen, so dass man keine Arbeit damit hat. Man wird direkt dort abgeholt und auch zurückgebracht.

Breakfast was provided for the safari in the form of a packed lunch, and next morning omelette and toast. Both were fine. Bhagya and her husband looked after us very well, they were polite, friendly and professional. The room matched the environment very well, with a lovely balcony to enjoy the evening after the safari. The whole property is well maintained with a simple restaurant area set a nice garden with plenty of wildlife. Very peaceful. We didn't book our safari with the property but I think we would have had just as good a safari experience if we had.

Wir waren zwei Nächte in dieser traumhaft ruhigen und privaten Unterkunft. Es gibt absolut nichts auszusetzen. Der Blick von der Terrasse lädt zum Entspannen ein und die Safari war auch sehr schön.

We had an amazing stay at Wild Lake Side. The cabins by the river were beautiful and peaceful, and the whole setting felt magical—especially watching fireflies at night and birds during the day. Everything was very well organised, with activities thoughtfully planned and great value for the price. A truly memorable and relaxing experience, highly recommended.

A wonderful place to stay! The people are so hospitable and helpful. The food is amazing! They even arranged a taxi for us from Colombo Airport. They also took care of everything for the safari tour, including the driver and a delicious breakfast and lunch. It was a truly special experience in such a unique place! The cottage is very cozy, clean, and fully equipped. Highly recommended for everyone!! We also found Udawalawe National Park to be a truly amazing experience, seeing so many elephants in such beautiful natural surroundings!

Fantastische locatie. De kamer was heel schoon. Het uitzicht is geweldig, je kijkt uit op de rivier.. De familie die de 4 bungalows heeft is heel gastvrij en spreken goed engels. Ze hebben een fantastische safari voor ons geregeld. Ook is het ontbijt heel goed en ze hebben s avonds heerlijk voor ons gekookt. Een aanrader!

Enige kleine nadeeltjes: je zit aan de rivier, dus 's avonds op je veranda zitten is lastig, dan wemelt het van de muggen. Ook is het niet dichtbij een stadje of ander restaurant of strand of wat dan ook, je zit echt afgelegen, maar de rest maakt het helemaal goed!

Wild Lake Side is an absolutely beautiful place to stay if you're visiting Udawalawe. It is so peaceful and the villas are lovely and nicer than the photos. They had air con so we could stay nice and cool, and a lovely balcony to sit and spot wildlife from. The family who run it were so helpful with organising our activities (safari, going to the elephant orphanage) and all our travel etc. The dinner was also great.

Die Preise waren etwas undurchsichtig. Beim Essen wurde uns automatisch Wasser auf den Tisch gestellt, was dann aber auf der Rechnung vermerkt wurde.

Nous avons vraiment aimé, c'est un endroit magnifique, certainement le plus bel endroit que nous avons eu, tant pour le cadre que pour le logement. Nous avons apprécié la qualité des repas et la proximité du parc.

This accommodation is amazing! We loved the room. The bed and sheets were high quality. You even get a duvet! There’s an amazing view from the balcony where you can watch fish and turtles swim by. The sounds from surrounding wildlife is magical. The host was very accommodating. They booked our full day safari for us which was a very good price considering the value we got with the driver and the extras they arranged for us. They also sorted out our washing for us by taking it to a local laundry service which meant we could just simply enjoy our time there. We ate in the restaurant for two evening meals and breakfast. Everything was great. They offered us reasonably priced taxi transfers to and from the accommodation and offered to book us travel to the local town should we want to go. It was very good value for money!

Beautifully set lodges in a wonderful garden with lots of banana and coconut palms and a small lagoon which the balconies overlook. We spotted many birds including kingfishers and turtles. You feel so much in the jungle it is wonderful. Very comfortable, hosts are kind and the food was delicious - both dinner and breakfast. They organised a wonderful safari in the Udawalawe National Park and our driver was fantastic, keeping us apart from other jeeps and explaining things - spotting elephants (including a 3 week old), peacocks, water buffalo, water monitors, wild boar, mongoose, crocodiles and many beautiful birds.

Schöner Garten mit viel Pfefferpflanzen. Häuser liegen schön am Bach, ideal für Tierbeobachtung. Minibar im Raum war sehr gut.

Keine Mittel ( Showergel, Shampoo ) und kein Zahnglas im Bad. Kein Cola, kein Soda und kein Tonic vorhanden; Tonic konnte dann besorgt werden. Wir mussten aber unser Gin-Tonic aus Bierhumpen trinken, da sie keine Trinkgläser hatten. Weingläser waren Cocktailgläser.

Well located in Uda Walawe to access the National Park..which was exceptional. Lovely individual bungalows… family run.

Gorgeous rustic accommodation nestled in the jungle by the river. Really beautiful and well kept. The rooms are super clean, water provided and the outdoor bathrooms are fun and have hot water. The owners are very proud of the food is delicious and prepared with care and Sri Lankan goodness! Highly recommend.

Location cabins are set in beautiful lush peaceful gardens, alive with birdlife - run by a lovely friendly family, we had home cooked Sri Lankan curry in the evening which was absolutely delicious! There are no frills& it’s fairly basic but a great stay for the price. They also arranged a morning safari to Udawalawa & tuk tuk to the Elephant transit house both of which are nearby & wonderful to visit.

Die Unterkunft ist ein sehr besonderes Erlebnis! Toller Garten voller Pfefferpflanzen und sehr komfortable, saubere und schöne Hütten direkt im Dschungel am Fluss. Die Mitarbeiter*innen waren alle sehr nett und haben nicht nur den Transport hin und weiter von der Unterkunft organisiert, sondern auch die Safari. Wir haben die 7h Safari gebucht, die um 5:30 morgens gestartet ist und für zwei Personen 45.000 Rupien gekostet hat (Frühstück im Park und Parkeintritt (30$) mit inbegriffen. Wir waren sehr begeistert von der Safari und haben unzählige Elefanten aber auch andere Tiere wie Krokodile, Büffel, Affen und Vögel gesehen. Eine Unterkunft und ein Erlebnis, das wir jedem nur empfehlen würden. PS: nur Barzahlung daher im Vorhinein genug für Essen, Unterkunft, Transport und Safari mitnehmen!

It was a wonderful stay. The whole team is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, and we watched lots of animals from the balcony – it was fantastic! The entire property is beautiful, with lots of plants and surrounded by nature. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. We booked a full-day safari directly through the hotel, and everything was perfectly organized, including a very good breakfast and lunch and a great safari driver. It was even a private tour, just us and the driver. They also helped us easily with the onward journey to the next location and arranged a driver for us. All in all, it was a fantastic stay. Thank you so much! We hope to come back again someday.

We loved everything about Wild Lake Side! The location is incredible, the lodges are amazing - spacious, clean and comfortable. We spent an afternoon just sitting on the terrace watching the wildlife go by. The hosts were lovely and could organise multiple tours in the local area. We booked our safari with them and had a wonderful time. Wish we stayed for longer!

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön an einem kleinen Fluss gelegen. Vom Balkon kann man zahlreiche Vögel sehen, hin und wieder schwimmt ein Waran vorbei. Die Gastfamilie ist sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend. Abendessen wie auch Frühstück waren sehr lecker!

Die Bettwäsche war etwas schmutzig.

Wir wurden sehr herzlich aufgenommen und haben uns direkt heimisch gefühlt. Die Lage mitten in der Natur ist toll. Unsere Hütte war schön mit einem tollen Blick ins Grüne. Auch das Essen war top! Bei unserer über das Hotel gebuchten Safari haben wir ein Lunchpaket mitbekommen, welches wir an einem See genießen durften. Das Mittagessen wurde uns frisch zum Parkeingang gebracht, welches wir ebenfalls in der Natur genießen durften. Tolle Erfahrung!

Our stay at Wild Lake Side exceeded our expectations. The room was lovely and the beds so comfy! We particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony and listening to the sounds of the wildlife in the evenings. The breakfast was delicious and generously portioned, and our dinners were also very tasty. We booked a safari through the hotel which was competitively priced and we enjoyed very much. Above all, the service and hospitality from our hosts was superb. We'd definitely stayed here again!

Tutto ottimo, ci hanno organizzato il safari a Udawalawe, ci hanno preparato tutti i pasti. La camera è bellissima, il bagno è esterno ma pulito e completo di tutti i confort.

Prachtige locatie, vogels, aapjes, varanen, eekhoorntjes vanaf je veranda. Zeer professioneel aangepakt, terwijl het heel kleinschalig is (3 hutjes, nog 1 in aanbouw, bijna klaar). Heerlijk eten, zowel ontbijt als diner. (Door de eigenaar). En prachtige safari in Uduwalawe, met eigen jeep uit 1958, met gids die werkelijk alles ziet met veel respect voor de natuur. Top verblijf!! (Goede airco)

Niets, hou wel rekening met de ietwat afgelegen locatie, aan een dirtroad. Maar goed begaanbaar.

Unbedingt, die Fahrradtour über das Hotel buchen, ist Preisleistung technisch mit Abstand am besten es werden private Touren angeboten, bei denen man weit vor den anderen morgens startet!

Ogni cosa è stata perfetta: personale gentile, colazione buonissima e safari organizzato. Al nostro arrivo alle 20:00 ci hanno preparato una cena squisita, sono stati gentilissimi ad aspettarci nonostante il tardo orario.

Everything! The hospitality here was phenomenal. The setting, the food, the accommodation was all exceptional! We felt for the low price we got a very high standard of accommodation and service. We booked safari with them and the whole experience was unbelievable. Upon returning to the accommodation on a very hot day we were created with ice cold king coconuts for our refreshment free of charge. Food choices were good, especially for vegetarians as I was a little worried. The quality of the food was excellent.

Absolutely nothing to dislike.

The wooden cabins are deep in nature and , you will sleep cradled by the sounds of the forest around you. The food was so tasty and all the activities well organized. The guide that drew us into the National Park has been very kind and helpful in showing us a lot of animals hidden into the trees and bushes. Such a wonderful experience, definitively recommended.

Lovely property in great location. Very private and safe. The owners very very friendly and polite, always willing to help with our plans. They arrange the safari and transfers for us. The room was very good value for money. All the mod cons you could need. Very clean and a lovely balcony view over the river. Watch out for bathroom frogs! 🐸 The best part of this stay for us was the food. The dinner was the best meal we had in Sri Lanka, incredible tradition meal. Would highly recommend this stay for udawalawe national park visitors.

Unique stay in these beautiful wooden cabins immersed in the jungle. They all face a calm river and you can hear all the jungle sounds, which was delightful. The cabins are spacious and had all the amenities, the beds were large and comfortable. We also loved the outdoor shower and bathroom! Our hosts were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful, and they orchestrated our safari perfectly straight from the hotel. Thanks for a memorable experience!

We stayed in one of the most beautiful cabanas of our trip to Sri Lanka, with a view over a small river full of birds and little animals. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The bed was comfortable, and there was a lovely little terrace where we enjoyed our coffee, tea, and welcome drink. We also had both dinner and breakfast there — both meals were superb. The service was very good overall.

We booked the safari with this property and we did experience some communication issues during the safari, as the driver didn’t speak English very well.

Excellent hosts who went out of their way to look after you and bonus points for amazing safari experience! Close to national park and rooms are spacious and well kept.

Could not be happier with our stay at Wild Lake Side!!!! Run by such a beautiful couple who make you feel right at home. The cabins are gorgeous and immaculately clean. Being able to watch the turtles, birds and even little crocodiles from the balcony was truly a treat and made you really feel immersed in nature. The food was also a highlight for us - best Kottu we had on our entire trip! We only stayed 2 nights as we were in Udawalawe for a safari but would have easily stayed longer. We absolutely will stay here again if we find ourselves in Udawalawe again in the future!

We had a lovely stay overall, with several highlights and a few concerns. What we liked: - The additionally booked safari was excellent — our guide was knowledgeable and really made the experience memorable. - Spacious rooms gave us plenty of comfort during our stay. - The hosts were very friendly, helpful, and solution-oriented — always available if we needed something. - The property is in a peaceful, nature-based area with kind and welcoming neighbors. - We appreciated that breakfast, lunch, and dinner were available on-site — they happily prepared something for us whenever we didn’t feel like going out. What could be improved: - Unfortunately, we found bed bugs in our first room. When we raised the issue, we didn’t feel it was fully understood at first. The hosts offered to clean the room, which isn't sufficient in the case of bed bugs. We had to insist that we wouldn’t stay in that room a second night, and only then were we given a different room. While we’re grateful for the room change, we’re not confident that the original room was treated properly, so we’re concerned future guests might face the same issue. - The second room we were moved to had a broken air conditioner, but to their credit, it was repaired the same day, and everything was fine for the night. All in all, the hospitality and location were excellent, but we hope they take the bed bug issue seriously for the comfort and health of future guests.

Beautiful and very well kept place near the reserve. We stayed only one night and was met with a traditional meal. Early next morning we had a 4 hour excursion that was arranged by the hotel. Great, clean and friendly if you want to visit Udawalawe nature reserve.

The room and the balcony were good. The bathroom with the outside view was nice. Dinner was fine, breakfast was good. The staff was friendly overall.

It felt a bit rushed and impersonal. The staff was very direct and disturbed us while we were dining. We would've rather talked about our plans after dinner. The safari driver fell asleep while on safari. He was nice though and we saw alot of elephants. It felt like he only went to places he saw others go, never really found his own spot, like we were in a safari train on rails.

Our stay at Wild Lake Side was simply exceptional. Firstly, pre arrival communication was spot-on. My partner and I have travelled to around 45 countries between us and stayed in too many hotels and guesthouses to remember. We both agree that Wild Lake Side is amongst the best... if not the very best. The accommodation was stunning, perfectly clean, with excellent air conditioning, a good bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. However, the star attraction was the spacious balcony with a private view of the river, palm trees, etc., and wildlife. We arranged a safari, which was of very high quality and great value. Our guide/driver was passionate, engaging, and knowledgeable. We had lunch, an evening meal, and breakfast, all of which were freshly cooked 'real' Sri Lankan food. Nothing was too much trouble – a taxi was arranged for our next destination, and we both left with very heavy hearts. We would not hesitate to return for a longer stay and, without a doubt if you want accommodation in Udawalawe you will not find better. The place is very beautiful and the houses are very cozy. The outdoor bathroom was also a nice experience.

Fabulous family hosting wild lake side and wanting to ensure a good stay. The wooden cabins with balcony are comfortable with A/C plus fridge and kettle in room too. We had already booked an elephant safari privately but they also can take you in their own safari jeep. We had an evening meal of Sri Lankan vegetable Curry that was delicious. The view from the balcony in the morning was fabulous and saw a pair of hornbill birds we had an omelette fruits for breakfast. A great stay all round, very good value and lovely to support this local family business

Super friendly and helpful hosts, especially as we messed up our arrival arrangements, but this did not faze them. Excellent safari and visit to the elephant transit centre. Home-cooked meals provided as and when requested. Cold beer and wine available!

Maybe a little more variety in choice of meals would be nice, but not a problem if you are only staying a short time.Not much else to do in the area other than safari and transit centre. Wild Lake Side is quite hard to find!

The hotel is located within the forest and close to the reservoir and the Udawalawe nature reserve so a perfect base from which to go on a safari. The hotel offers such trips although we had arranged one independently. Because of its location, the balcony of our bungalow afforded us a close up view of the many birds in the area and the birdsong was wonderful.

The grounds around the bungalows are limited and we found we had been checked out of our room before our return from a safari even before the check out time. Because of its remoteness, and the nature of the access roads, it it a fair way to shops and banks. Being within the forest the noise of peacocks just outside the window was a very early wake up call.

We loved our 2 night stay. The location is beautiful. We were in a garden growing cardamon, peppers , coconuts etc. We took the 12 hour safari and saw lots of lovely animals and lots of elephants. The hosts are really friendly. We'd recommend

Maybe add some outdoor comfy seats, eg bean bags/ hammock .

Wild Lake Side is a gem. Milan and his family took extra care and attention for our 3-night stay. The cabin was fantastic and built with care. Sitting out on the deck overlooking the stream and jungle was a peaceful treat. We enjoyed the homecooked meals very much, and the family was very flexible with timing and variety of options. They organized two 4-hour private safaris for us in their very cool vintage safari vehicle that was the perfect size for two people. We chose to do morning and afternoon safaris on two separate days and it was a nice balance of relaxing at the cabin and enjoying the park. Our guide was exceptional as he shared many details about the range of birds and animals we encountered. This was our second time visiting Sri Lanka and our stay here stands out as the best experience.

Wild Lake Side is set in a beautiful quiet location not far from Ulawalawe national park. The cabins are set by a creek surrounded by pepper trees by and gardens. It is a family business, and Milan (the son) was very welcoming and friendly. He organised tasty Sri Lankan meals for us cooked by his mother, and even an excellent safari with their own jeep and driver.

Only a small thing - they need to find a better way to reduce and recycle plastic bottle usage, as they have no recycling facilities available in the local area and have to bury them on the property.

Wild Lake Side is a beautiful spot owned and run by a lovely family who are very helpful and friendly, we had a wonderful time, we had dinner and breakfast which was delicious and all home grown at the property, which is nestled on the edge of the jungle. We also had a visiting Kingfisher which was nice, first time I’ve ever seen one.

The lodge with the balcony at the back overlooking a little stream, and the outdoor bathroom (which was very clean with surprisingly no bugs at all), is very fun. The (we chose full day) safari organised quickly the night we arrived was really good - we saw so many elephants and a lot of other brightly coloured birds and animals. The property even sent freshly cooked egg fried rice to us at lunch time so we had a warm lunch - this was a very special touch.

The location and the room was great. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The place is very green and just a few meters from the river.

The only thing that didn't enjoy as much as we wished was the safari tour to Udawalawe. We chose the 4hour safari in the afternoon. We had asked the staff about the weather and they had reassured us that the weather would be fine. Unfortunately it was heavily raining for one hour, so we didn't have the chance to observe a lot of animals. Personally, we thought that it doesn't worth the amount of 35000 LKR, even though every tour costs more or less the same.

We liked everything. The small houses are placed in the beautiful garden of Mila’s, where you are staying in between cinnamon and pepper plants, which is awesome. The host is super nice and organized a safari for the four of us. Everything is super clean! Thanks a lot for having us!

The cabins are beautifully built with very good craftsmanship. They have a nice big deck to sit on (but the view is lacking) and the owner was extremely accommodating. It was very close to the park and he organized an amazing private safari for us.

The road to get into the property is difficult to find and very rough, but it is ‘in the wild’.

We stayed for one night at Wild Lake Side Lodge to do two safaris in Uda Walawe NP. Milan is a wonderful host and made our stay very pleasant and memorable. We rented two of his three cabins which are spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped with aircon, hairdryer, water kettle for tea and coffee and a fridge. We enjoyed sitting on our private patio in the evening watching fireflies. Milan is very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He also cooked us a delicious Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast with the best omelette on our trip. This is a truly beautiful little gem in a lush tropical garden.

Wonderful cottages in a palm garden. The place is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The owner is an amazing person. We highly recommend this place to everyone.

Great hut with lovely private terrace, very quiet and relaxing after the busy cities. Host arranged a superb safari with breakfast and lunch included, we had a great day and very reasonably priced. Host was super friendly and we had a delicious dinner on the one night we stayed. They also arranged a cab for us to the next destination which was very helpful. Great value for money.
