Le quartier est trop calme apre ms les heures de bureau ( à 16h ) et c’est assez difficile de trouver quelque chose ou de se deplacer.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2026Very bad, cold shower, dusty floors, we could hear the wind moving the Windows, we got locked inside the room for a while (dangerous if there is a fire). The room is really outdated and improvised. We kindly asked for a discount or to talk with the manager and the receptionist said “Imposible as I don’t have contact with the manager or owner.” What sound like a lie. I am sorry I have to leave this review but we didn’t enjoyed at all. Max value for this place 30€

Reviewed Aug 27, 2026Good location in Chinatown close to the bus station at Immigration Square. There are several Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Good and fast internet, working elevator, liquid soap in bathroom, fridge, free bottles of water, plenty of hot water in the shower.
It's not brand new, but everything works. The power plug next to the bed was loose.

Il n’y a pas de petit déjeuner proposé. Pour une nuit ça passe mais sinon ça aurait pu être un problème (il y a quand même thé, café, eau et frigo à disposition

La serviette comme descente de douche etait tres usee avec le mega de la wifi etait epuisee le dimanche et n est retablie que le lundi. Trop bruyant toute la nuit.

Reviewed Jul 19, 2026The hotel was quite business-like. Efficient. The room was clean but not fancy. I appreciated the fridge and AC. The reception staff was professional and pleasant. The location in Chinatown was convenient and secure to park my rented car. And close to restaurants and markets. These were all exactly the way I like.
Kirin was totally fine overall. No complaints once you understand that it isn't a fancy resort. I would recommend to a friend with a similar attitude

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The hotel was nice, quiet, and clean. My room was spacious. The air conditioning worked very well, which was greatly appreciated. The location was excellent, right in the city center, making it easy to reach all the main attractions within a short walk. I was also able to check in earlier than expected, which was very convenient. Most importantly, the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout my stay.

Reviewed Jul 2, 2026This was my second stay at Kirin Guesthouse and it was just as good as the last time. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and it is in the perfect location in China Town. It is within easy walking distance of the commercial district of Port Louise, the market, the water front and of course, amazing Chinese restaurants.

The condition of the room, it's was old and was not properly clean, windows and tapes were dirty and there were no cleaners. We stayed 5 nights, and the room was only cleaned once after we had requested that service. There is no one taking care of the reception area, which makes it difficult to get service at the time one need it.

There wasn't even water to drink. Even if we were ready to pay, the hotel doesn't have water bottles. The staff wasn't even trying to help. This is in China town. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is a stone's throw away from the market, small shops and banks (MCB, Absa). Within walking distance to the Mauritius Post Office Headquarters, Caudant Waterfront, Postal Museum, Aapravasi Ghat, Intercontinental Slavery Museum, the US Embassy and light rail/metro. The hotel is clean, simple/minimalistic, no fluff.

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026Very well positioned, clean and good value for money. Spacious accommodation with a good view over the port. Room is silent despite traffic below, as it's high up.
No hot water and hard bed. Room isn't cleaned by default. Receptionist almost always not there and you need to have a local card or at least connection to get a hold of him. Poor soundproofing means your neighbors will likely wake you up at 3 AM blasting Indian music (2 out of 3 nights for me).

It took a long time to cool the room down (was there in January). The location was alright but was recommended by others not to walk alone at night for mild safety issues. I did on occasion and did not have any issues. Neighborhood is interesting but not super clean. There were little ants everywhere (though that is common in this area).
