Elegant Lake Yala Safari House

Staying at Randy’s place was one of the best experiences of our time in Sri Lanka. From the moment you arrive in the village and take in the nature, you know you’re somewhere special. Randy is the warmest person and a true legend. He couldn’t have done more for us, from showing us around the local wildlife and area, a hobby he is very good at, to sharing local tips and recommendations, including choosing great restaurants! We were truly spoilt by him. Randy organised a safari for us as well, and this was by far the best we had while in Sri Lanka, really truly personal for guests. The guide’s knowledge was incredible and they were really considerate of the animals. Nature is nature but we saw so much! The room was large with a great stylish finish and great AC. You can tell that Randy and his family really care about their home stay and guests. It was a shame to only stay one night, Randy and his family are great hosts. Thank you again, a lovely experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here! This is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay, and the location is perfect for visiting Yala National Park. From the moment we arrived, Randy and his family made us feel incredibly welcome. Before we even checked in, we were offered a refreshing drink and a delicious selection of fresh fruit — such a lovely welcome after our journey! After settling into our room and having some time to relax, Randy took us on a tuk-tuk tour around the lake and through his village. This was honestly one of the highlights of our stay. He showed us the most beautiful spots, told us fascinating stories about the area and shared lots of interesting local facts. It felt so much more personal and authentic than a standard tourist experience. The scenery was absolutely beautiful! The next morning, Randy arranged our safari to Yala National Park, and everything was perfectly organised. We had an amazing safari and couldn’t have asked for better help or hospitality. Randy and his family are genuinely kind, warm and incredibly helpful people. You can really feel how much they care about their guests and about sharing their beautiful surroundings. We can only highly recommend staying here! ❤️ If you’re visiting Yala, we would definitely recommend choosing a small, local guesthouse like this rather than one of the big resorts. The location is fantastic, the room was comfortable and a good size and the owner was so hospitable and couldn’t do enough for us. Oh and breakfast was the best we have had in Sri Lanka and we have stayed at 5 different places so far!

Fantastic location overlooking the lake floor to ceiling glass windows which allow you to see out without getting too hot. A lovely warm welcome by our host Randy who took us out on a little evening riding in his Tuk Tuk to see sunset wildlife. The bird table outside our room was visited by Indian green parrots and other birds but another highlight was to see a pair of toucans feeding from the table in front of our room. Yala wildlife safari park with Nishankar was fantastic. We saw leopards, sloth bear, elephant, deer, wild Buffalo. Local restaurants were plenty providing excellent food at recent prices.

The host was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. He arranged an amazing safari driver for us, and we were lucky enough to see elephants, leopards, crocodiles, buffaloes, and many other animals - including a leopard incredibly close to us in a tree! 🐆 The accommodation is brand new, spotless, comfortable, and has hot water. We were welcomed with drinks and fresh fruit, and after the safari, the host even surprised us with ice cream and drinks. Such thoughtful touches! Definitely our favourite stay in Sri Lanka, and our only regret is staying for just one night. We couldn’t recommend it enough! 🤍

There wasn’t a pool but as this stay was only to visit the main national park this wasn’t an issue.

Randy and his family were excellent. It was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The attention to detail and making every guest feel like family, weather you were there for 1 day or a week. The rooms and beautiful the food delicious, he arranged a fantastic safari where we saw 3 leopards. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay exceptional. If you come to Sri Lanka you must stay here

I truly don’t have enough words to describe how wonderful this place was. Randy and his family were some of the kindest and most welcoming people we met during our trip. The room was absolutely spotless, spacious, comfortable, and had everything we could possibly need. From the moment we arrived, Randy welcomed us with the warmest smile and made us feel completely at home. He even took the time to show us around his village and shared stories about his life with us. We really appreciated this personal touch, as it made our stay feel so much more meaningful and authentic. Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, but if we could have changed our plans, we would have stayed much longer. We are truly grateful for the hospitality and kindness we received. We wish Randy and his family all the very best and would recommend this place without hesitation. We hope to come back one day!

Nos gustó todo de este hotel. Lo lleva una familia y su dueño Randy esta pendiente de todo. La habitación espectacular con todo detalle y una vista a los pajaritos y las ardillas, precioso. Nos llevo varias noches a cenar cerca con su tuk tuk y sin cobrar añadidos. Además, nos dió un paseo con su tuk tuk ensañandonos toda la zona. Sin duda el mejor hotel de toda Sri Lanka. Nos prepraro las excursiones a lso safaris y los desplazamientos entre ciudades. No tuvimos que preocuparnos por nada.

Amazing host that makes you feel right at home! He gave us a tour around the area when we arrived, arranged a great safari for is in Yala where we saw 3 leopards, alongside all the other animals like elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, etc. Last day we got a great breakfast before we left with some other local gifts which was such a nice gesture. Overall we would 100% come back and recommend.

This place is run by a young family, and the owner has very humble beginnings and an inspiring story — do ask him how he started his own guesthouse! 100% would recommend. We stayed at multiple places around Sri Lanka, and this was by far the cleanest — and I mean squeaky clean. You could walk around the room barefoot without feeling like you needed to wash your feet immediately after 😆 They also provide free tuk-tuk service to and from restaurants nearby, which was such a thoughtful touch. It was a pity we were only there for one night. The takeaway breakfast prepared by his wife was absolutely delicious too. All in all, it was such a wholesome experience. The family were genuinely warm and sincere. The place is simple, but it has all you need, and you could really feel the care they put into hosting their guests.

Todo. No puedo describir con palabras lo acogidos que nos hemos sentido. Está muy bien ubicado para hacer el safari de Yala, y se ofrecen a organizártelo todo desde el alojamiento. Además, está situado al lado de un lago precioso, con muchísimos tipos de pájaros, cocodrilos y otros muchos animales. El casero, Randy, nos hizo un tour en tuktuk cuando llegamos por los alrededores, explicándonos sobre la fauna, y sobre la cosecha de arroz que hay en los alrededores. La habitación preciosa en medio de la naturaleza, y todo tipo de detalles en cuanto a comida y aperitivos.

Les commentaires et les notes parlent d’eux même. Au delà de la propreté et du cadre (beau jardin et lac), Randy et sa famille offrent une expérience inoubliable de partage et de générosité. Je vous recommande de croiser leur chemin.

Rien c’est parfait !!

L’accueil de l’établissement est excellent, les propriétaires ont été très présents pour nous expliquer l’histoire de la région et disponibles pour échanger. Nous étions plongés au milieu de la nature à observer des animaux depuis notre chambre. Encore merci pour tout, ce séjour était plus qu’agréable.

Super honest review: If you are looking for a luxury place, with 5 star hotel services and all that comes with it, this is not the place for you, BUT IF you are into warmth, kindness, comfort, personal connection and learning about the local surroundings THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. Randy (the host) and his family are amazing people who welcomed us with kindness and did the absolute best to make us feel at home and comfortable, creating a priceless personal connection. We were offered local tasty food and Randy guided us through the nearby area explaining a lot of things about local rice plantation, wildlife, plants and culture. It was overall my best stay in my 8 days trip in Sri Lanka, and my only regret was that it was only for 1 night. I highly recommend anyone to stay here for their trip to Yala.

Todo. La familia que lleva el hotel es maravillosa, hace todo lo posible para que te sientas en tu casa. Nos llevó a ver los alrededores, a comer y cenar con su tuk tuk, nos preparó una comida después del safari ( todo sin coste) y nos organizó el safari. Y lo que más nos impresionó es cuando nos llevó a ver la salida de todos los murciélagos despues del sunset, todos salieron a volar y el cielo se llenó de ellos, impresionante e inolvidable. La habitación era muy cómoda, la cama, el lavabo con buen caudal de agua, que es complicado en este país. Los alrededores son preciosos. Un 10 para esta familia y el lugar. 100% recomendable. Gracias por esta experiencia.

Stanza molto carina ed accogliente, situata in mezzo al verde vicino al lago. Il proprietario e la sua famiglia ti accudiscono proprio come un membro del villaggio. La camera è spaziosa e luminosa grazie ad una splendida vetrata che da sul cortiletto interno. La posizione è ottima in quanto molto vicina al parco di Yala per un eventuale safari anche se il safari praticamente è già fuori casa, ma di questo ve ne parlerà il proprietario stesso. Super consigliato!

The room is very clean and very comfortable. The owner is so heart warming, he took the time to show us around the lake and the village and gave us interesting insights. It is a good place if you want to stay for doing the Yala Safari but also to enjoy the views of the lake and relax. We wish we had stayed more time😊

This accomodation was mine and my partners favourite! The family are absolutely gorgeous so helpful and kind. We went on a lovely village tour. Breakfast was amazing. Couldn’t have had a better time!

El lugar, el hotel, la familia que lo gestiona... Todo!!! Muchas gracias al propietario que nos llevó en su tuk tuk por el lago a ver animales y contarnos curiosidades, además por la tarde nos llevo a una fiesta típica a un pueblo a 22km de manera desinteresada solo por querer que conozcamos la cultura de aquí y a sus gentes. Además nos organizo el safari por el Parque Nacional de Yala con un super guia .. todo genial de 10!!! Lo recomiendo muchisimo

Randy is the best host we have had in Sri Lanka! He and his family made us feel so welcome and we are so grateful we stayed here. Randy taught us all about Tissa and the history of the village. He showed us some of the awesome wildlife near the house and organised our Safari into Yala. The safari Randy organised was amazing, our guide was very knowledgeable and we were lucky enough to see 3 leopards and a bunch of other animals! Thank you Randy for your kindness and generosity, this is a stay we will never forget

飯店設施非常現代化，熱水、冷氣、風扇與冰箱一應俱全。我覺得這裡甚至比某些市區飯店還要出色！老闆人非常好，因為曾經在韓國首爾工作過，所以比其他人更能貼切理解旅客的需求。 我們總共住了兩天，老闆對我們照顧得無微不至。入住當天，他特地到市中心巴士站接我們，還準備了食物款待。第一天我們不太餓、想先在飯店休息，老闆擔心我們肚餓，還貼心地準備了下午茶，之後更帶我們到附近的湖邊散步介紹。雖然飯店位於較寧靜的鄉村地帶，但老闆連續兩天都非常熱心地開車載我們去餐廳用餐，等我們吃完後再接我們回飯店！ 這兩天我和朋友都過得無比開心，絕對是我們這趟 15 天行程中最充實、最美好的兩天。除此之外，飯店還幫忙安排了 Safari 野生動物巡禮等活動，由專業的導遊兼司機帶我們前往附近的野生動物公園，完全不需要為行程操心 退房當天，老闆也親自開車送我們到巴士站。這兩天真的很感謝老闆，他對我們的好，真的已經不是言語所能表達的了!❤️ The hotel facilities are very modern, fully equipped with hot water, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and a refrigerator. Honestly, I think this place is even better than some hotels in the city! The owner is incredibly kind. Having worked in Seoul, South Korea before, he understands the needs of travelers much better than most. We stayed for two days, and the owner took exceptional care of us throughout our stay. On the day we arrived, he specially picked us up at the city center bus station and welcomed us with food. Since we weren't very hungry on the first day and preferred to rest in the room, he was worried we might get hungry later and thoughtfully prepared afternoon tea for us. Afterwards, he took us to visit and introduced a nearby lake. Even though the hotel is located in a more rural area, he kindly drove us to a restaurant for dinner and picked us up afterwards— two days in a row! My friend and I had a fantastic time here. These two days were definitely the highlights of our 15-day trip.On top of that, the hotel arranged activities like a wildlife safari for us, complete with a professional guide and driver who took us to the nearby national park, so we didn't have to worry about planning anything at all. On our departure day, the owner drove us to the bus station himself. We are deeply grateful to him for everything over those two days; words truly cannot express how kind and hospitable he was to us!❤️

I feel like no words will ever do this place justice. Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and chose it because of the great reviews we read online. And it did not disappoint, if anything it was better than expected. First of all Randy is an incredible host, he goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need and are having an enjoyable stay including fresh fruit and juice on arrival, ice cream and fruit when we returned from the safari and he took us on a tour around his lake telling us all about his village and showing us the birds. On our last day we didn’t have many plans so Randy took us to a weaving factory, museum and rice producer which was so nice to visit some interesting lesser known local spots. Randy gave us tuk tuk rides whenever he was available, dropping us off and picking us up from dinner. Our room was impeccably clean and beautifully presented, was spacious, light and had a gorgeous view of the trees and birds. We booked the safari through Randy and the driver was amazing going out of his way to ensure we were able to see a leopard and Randy packed us a great breakfast for the tour. All in all I would 100% recommend this place, Randy and his lovely family make you feel at home and were the best hosts and accommodation we had on our whole trip in Sri Lanka. It really does live up to the reviews.

Die Zimmer waren top! Super gemütlich und sauber und unser Highlight war unser Gastgeber Randy. Er ist so ein herzlicher Mensch, sowas haben wir selten erlebt. Wir wurden zunächst mit einem Willkommensdrink + Kuchen empfangen und er hat mit uns eine Tuktuk Tour durch den kleinen Ort rund um den Elegant Lake gemacht. Hat uns sehr viel über die Natur und die Tiere erzählt. Wir haben sogar das erste Mal Fledermäuse gesehen! Er hat für uns auch die Safari im Yala Nationalpark organisiert für einen unschlagbaren Preis. Wir haben diesen Aufenthalt wirklich sehr genossen und können Randy und seine Familie herzlichst empfehlen! Danke für alles Randy 🙏🏻❤️

Fantastische locatie, ruime en comfortabele kamer, heerlijk bed, en een fantastische tuin. De eigenaar regelt alles tot op de puntjes! Hij gaf ons een schitterende vogel safari bij aankomst, regelde onze ‘next level’ safari (luipaarden, olifanten, krokodillen, herten, beer, jalhalzen, en teveel vogels om te noemen). We mochten laat uitchecken zodat we na de safari nog konden douchen. En last but not least - een lunch voordat we vertrokken, zonder kosten.

Our host was such a kind and welcoming person. He gave us a wonderful welcome and even took us on a mini safari around the village in the evening. We learned so much about the local history, heard many interesting stories, and saw lots of animals. The next morning, before our early safari, he had already prepared a takeaway breakfast for us, which was a very thoughtful gesture. Everything was amazing. Tutto! La stanza affaccia su un meraviglioso giardino pieno di animali, il proprietario e la sua famiglia ci ha accolto come mai nessuno prima d’ora. Di una gentilezza ed una semplicità che difficilmente si trova in giro. Ci hanno dedicato tantissimo tempo e attenzioni per rendere questo soggiorno speciale ed indimenticabile.

In primis i proprietari , famiglia carinissima , gentili e sempre disponibili , poi la struttura bellissima di recente costruzione e immersa nel verde.

Der Gastgeber war unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Auch die gesamte Hotelanlage ist wunderschön gelegen, grosszügig und modern eingerichtet. Wir wurden zu Beginn mit erfrischenden Tüchern, Snacks und einem Getränk empfangen. Anschliessend folgte eine sehr spannende und kostenlose Führung durch die Gegend. Wir haben sehr viel über die Flora und Fauna, wie auch über Kultur und Geschichte erfahren. Vielen Dank für die wertvollen Eindrücke. Auch die mitgebuchte Safari war hervorragend und wir haben sehr viele Tiere gesehen. Vielen lieben Dank für den wunderbaren Aufenthalt.

We hebben ons nog nooit zo welkom gevoeld als in dit hotel. De eigenaar is zo gastvrij. Hij vertelde met veel passie over zijn Sri Lanka en omgeving. Je voelt heel veel gedrevenheid en liefde van deze warme familie. De kamers zijn groot en netjes. De locatie is ideaal voor een safari in Yala Park. Ook dat werd uitstekend geregeld en we kregen een professionele parkranger die heel snel en veel dieren kon spotten. Enkele foto’s ( we zagen nog meer) werden bijgevoegd om te tonen welke dieren we hebben gezien op een 6-uren safari.

Niets. Er zijn luxueuzere hotels in de omgeving maar de echte luxe is de persoonlijkheid van de familie die deze accommodatie uitbaat!

El hotel es especialmente bonito, tiene un diseño muy acogedor y vistas increíbles. Destacar el buen trabajo de Randy, una persona maravillosa que se ha preocupado de mi y mi familia en todo momento. Agradecerle también a su mujer el excelente trabajo que realizan. Muy satisfechos y agradecidos con todo lo que han hecho por nosotros durante la estancia. Muy pero que muy recomendable. Un 10. Por otro lado, agradecerle al conductor Nissanka recomendado por Randy, el buen día que nos hizo pasar en el safari de Yala. Se preocupó por que viéramos todos los animales posibles, y destacar su buena conducción. Muy recomendable.

Randy y su mujer. Ella nos preparó algo de comer siempre después de la llegada. El nos hozo un tour por el lago. Nos llevó a cenar al pueblo, nos recogió… Se ocupa de todo, super atento. No se puede pedir mas. El lugar idílico.

Amazing Host Randi and his Family! Felt like home.

Randy y su esposa son encantadores y te facilitan todo: desayuno a horas intempestivas, recomendaciones de dónde comer, driver si lo necesitas, safari... La habitación era espaciosa y cómoda.

No es algo malo pero hay que tener en cuenta que estás a aprox 30-40 minutos en coche de la entrada principal del Yala National Park. Para nosotros no fue un inconveniente ya que la amabilidad de Randy y su familia hace que merezca la pena.

Dit verblijf was een hoogtepunt van onze reis. De goede reviews spraken ons aan, en onze ervaring was alsnog boven verwachting. We zijn ongelofelijk verwend door Randy en zijn vrouw. Randy heeft ons twee keer meegenomen de stad in en allerlei hotspots laten zien. Het verblijf zit aan een prachtig meer, waar hij ons ook alles van de natuur heeft laten zien. Hij wist overal wat interessants over te vertellen. Ze zijn ontzettend dankbaar en willen er alles aan doen om het verblijf voor de gasten zo fijn mogelijk te maken. Ook hebben ze ontzettend lieve kindjes. Hun dochtertje heeft ons vaak aan het lachen gemaakt en is dol op de gasten. Voor de safari heeft Randy ook alles geregeld. We werden opgehaald en terug afgezet bij het verblijf. Wij raden dit verblijf van harte aan!

Randy and his family were incredibly welcoming. The rooms were huge and spacious and clean. It was peaceful to just sit outside and enjoy the garden and watching all the birds. Randy goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and even taking you for little tours around the city and sharing its history.

We stayed at Elegant Lake House for one night while visiting Yala National Park for a safari. Looking back, one night was far too short because the stay exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Randy and his mother. She greeted us with a plate of fresh pineapple, starfruit, chips, and a refreshing drink. Shortly afterwards, Randy took us on a complimentary tuk-tuk tour around the town, which even felt like a mini safari. We had never experienced this level of hospitality before—it truly made us feel at home. The room is modern, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. The bed is large and very comfortable, the bathroom features a modern shower, and the air conditioning works perfectly. You can also choose between a lake view or a garden view. A lovely personal touch is that many of the furnishings, from the bed linens to the curtains, are handmade by Randy’s wife. Since we had an early morning safari, we couldn’t enjoy the full breakfast, but Randy thoughtfully prepared a breakfast package along with bottled water for us to take on our trip. In short, we highly recommend Elegant Lake House. Randy goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have an unforgettable stay, and his genuine kindness and hospitality are truly exceptional. We sincerely hope to return to Sri Lanka one day, and when we do, we will definitely stay with Randy for a few more nights.

We originally booked 2 nights, but loved it so much that we extended our stay for one more night. From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming home. The whole family is incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely caring. They go above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of for you. The room was spotless, the hospitality was exceptional, and the garden is simply breathtaking, with a beautiful lake. Everything exceeded our expectations. We also went on a safari in Yala, which Randy arranged perfectly for us. It was a wonderful experience, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The host took us on multiple tours around the village to go birdwatching and tell us about the nature and culture of these area. No podríamos haber elegido un sitio mejor para visitar Yala. Randy ha sido, sin duda, el mejor anfitrión que hemos tenido en todo Sri Lanka. Desde el primer momento nos hizo sentir como en casa. Nos enseñó el pueblo, nos explicó la fauna y la historia de la zona y nos organizó un safari privado inolvidable, en el que tuvimos la suerte de ver un leopardo. Además, como soy celíaca, preparó un desayuno sin gluten para que pudiera llevármelo al safari, un detalle que agradecí muchísimo. Al volver, su mujer nos preparó una comida casera riquísima. El alojamiento es precioso, muy limpio, luminoso y está muy bien cuidado. Gracias, Randy y familia, por una estancia tan especial. ¡Volveríamos sin pensarlo!

Ha sido una experiencia increíble, empezando antes de mi llegada hasta mi salida. Randy es una persona como hay pocas. Empezó ayudándome a organizar el transfer para llegar a Yala e incluso para mi salida. Nada más llegar, un zumo de bienvenida y bizcocho. Luego cogió su tuk-tuk para dar una vuelta por la zona y enseñar el parque. Increíble. Y ya para terminar, un desayuno espectacular, que no he podido ni terminar. Seguramente si vuelvo a Sri Lanka a esa zona, me quedo ahí. Gracias Randy por todo.

Der Gastgeber Randy und seine Familie haben sich bestens um uns gekümmert und war sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Er hat uns am Tag der Ankunft im Ort die Natur und Umgebung gezeigt und sich viel Zeit genommen sowie uns sogar am Restaurant abgeholt als wir fertig waren. Eine Safari hat er ebenfalls für uns organisiert, insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden mit der sauberen und schönen Unterkunft. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und haben am Ende sogar noch ein paar Edelsteine von seiner Frau geschenkt bekommen.

I loved how Randy welcomed us, so warm and exceptional i must say. His way of greeting guests and exceptional customer experience is to be called out. Place was amazing and such value for the money paid. Clean beautiful and colourful.

There is nothing i disliked about the place

The house is in a great location on the edge of the lake, with lots of birds and other wildlife . The rooms are modern and completed to a high standard. What makes this place exceptional and the best place where we have stayed in SL is the owners. They are generous, warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Randy is very knowledgeable about the bird and wildlife and took us for a free trip around the lake in his tuk tuk. We thoroughly recommend staying here.

Wow, what an amazing experience we had here. If you are interested in wildlife and nature then absolutely look no further and book to stay here now if it is available, as this is the perfect spot. Randy went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was extremely special. We heard about his place from friends who came back to the UK raving about the experience they had with him, but to be honest our stay was even better than I had anticipated. Without saying too much and ruining some of the magic, Randy is an incredibly thoughtful and enthusiastic guy who will go to great lengths to ensure your stay is memorable. The accommodation is in a lovely spot right next to a lake which is teeming with nature. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. The safari that Randy organised for us was excellent and we saw a fascinating array of wildlife including elephants, leopards and a whole host of interesting local birds. We can’t commend his approach highly enough and wish him all the best going forwards.

This homestay is truly a unique experience on Sri Lanka! Randy is the kindest and most thoughtful host we could have wished for! He welcomed us with some fruits and drinks, brought us snacks throughout the day and took hours of his time to drive us around in his TukTuk while telling us lots of interesting things about the area. He also picked us up from the bus stop and takes care of everything his guests could possibly need! For one afternoon he lent us his scooter, without any charges and just offered amazing advice on what to do. We also got some recommendations for restaurants from him that turned out great. The room was big and clean, we had an amazing view on his garden and could see lots of animals, for example water buffalos, birds and chipmunks! It was a pleasure getting to know Randy and his family and we can wholeheartedly recommend staying at his place! The best host we have ever had ☺️

Randy was amazing! Couldn’t have been any more helpful. Prepared a full breakfast for our safari at 5am! Then the next morning prepared the best breakfast we had in 10 days in Sri Lanka. Superb.

Beste verblijf van heel onze reis. De gastheer is zo vriendelijk en niets is te veel. Bij aankomst kregen we een drankje en een gebakje. Hij gaf een rondleiding met zijn tuktuk en vertelde met passie over alles in de omgeving.. Ook de safari was was goed geregeld. Ik kan alleen maar de reveiuws bevestigen.

La gentillesse et l’hospitalité de Randy. L’accueil fut extrêmement chaleureux et familial. Le soir il nous a aussi déposés avec son Tuktuk dans un restaurant. Le lendemain, avant notre départ, il nous a emmenés faire un tour dans les alentours de son village, en nous expliquant la faune et la flore locales. La chambre était spacieuse et le lieu reposant, même si on ne voit pas le lac depuis la chambre, malgré le titre « vue sur lac ». Cependant, nous avons énormément apprécié le lieu qui est un peu havre de paix.

The owner does his job perfectly, treating every guest as a family member. His wife cooks great food and they very nice and kind people. The house is modern, clean and comfortable. They even helped us with arranging safari for the other day. We are grateful and happy that we could stay with them ☺️

We had the best stay at Elegant Lake Yala Safari House last week. Randy was an incredible host, super welcoming and took us on a great tour of Tissa when we arrived looking at many species of birds and saw the bat migration in the evening. He also arranged our safari in Yala for us for a great price and with an experienced driver. We couldn’t have had a better stay - I recommend 100%.

Super friendly and helpful host - brought us out on an evening ride for bat-watching, always offered free rides to surrounding restaurants.

Our stay here was so relaxing. The property is located in a calm and quiet neighbourhood that is definitely worth exploring. The host was incredibly accomodating, taking us for a guided tour in his tuktuk around town on our first night. He organised a very knowledgable and patient safari driver for our trip to Yala. He went and bought us local buffalo curd to try. The breakfast here was plentiful and delicious. We were able to do our laundry here. The feeder on the property was a huge highlight, attracting all sorts of amazing birds and animals for us to see.

Randy was one of the best hosts we have ever encountered in our extensive travels. The rooms are lovely with views of the bird feeding stations, which Randy kept full of fruit. He took us on a tuk tuk ride in the afternoon which was one of the most interesting and amazing experiences! (I won't spoil it for others!). Cannot recommend this place enough.

A receção calorosa do Randi (dono do hotel), muito hospitaleiro, preparou tudo para o Safari, arranjou nos um profissional (Nishshanka) para nos levar ao Safari e que não foi explicando o que íamos vendo, vimos leopardos o que é raro acontecer, elefantes, macacos, búfalos, crocodilos, etc. foi um Safari muito completo Por fim o Randi ainda nos fez uma tour pela sua vila, foi muito interessante e bonito

The cleanest and most delicately decorated homestay through out our trip in Sri Lanka! Everything in the room is sparkling clean…no dust even on the curtains! The bedsheets are handmade by the hostess with pattern sewed on the bedsheets and pillow cases. (My mum liked it so much she wants to buy a set herself😂). Because the room is well sealed with air conditioner. I don’t need to worry about mosquitoes as I am allergic to mosquito bites. The host Randy is super attentive too. He knew that we haven’t had dinner and he offered to drive us to nearby restaurants with his Tuktuk. He offered us a ride around the lake the next morning to share with us the local culture and stories! (He showed us a plant with popping seed and it is really fun!) You can feel he treated his guests as his friends with warmth and kindness. We will stay here again if we visit Sri Lanka in future!

Wenn wir könnten, würden wir 20 Punkte geben. Randy und seine Familie sind sehr engagierte Gastgeber, bei denen man sich ab der ersten Minute bestens aufgehoben fühlt. Es gab Säfte, Früchte und Snacks sowohl zur Begrüßung als auch nach der Safari. Wir durften nach der Safari sogar noch duschen und unser Zimmer erst später verlassen. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön und wir bekamen eine interessante Führung von Randy, der sich mit Flora, Fauna und Lokaler Landwirtschaft auskennt. Außerdem wurde unsere Safari und unsere Weiterfahrt organisiert, wir könnten nicht zufriedener sein und wünschen der jungen Familie alles Gute.

Randy the owner was amazing! He took us on a free tuktuk tour around the lake and his village, showed us all the wildlife and flora. He was so proud of his hometown and just wanted to show us how beautiful it was. His wife cooked the best breakfast we had in Sri Lanka - the Hoppers with chilli coconut sambal was soooo delicious. The room was very clean with great airconditioning and very clean bathroom perfect for our 1 night stay in Yala. Amazing location right in front of the lake which was so beautiful. Very easy access to Yala national park, Randy organised an amazing safari tour, our guide was so patient and informative. We were very lucky to spot 2 leopards on your safari and a tonne of other animals. Safari lunch included was soooooo delicious.

Nothing it was perfect

Alles! Randi und seine Familie haben die ganz besondere Stärke, dass man sich so fühlt als sei man etwas ganz besonderes. Man fühlt sich zu 100% willkommen- eigentlich schon sehr familiär. :) Das hat den Abschied dementsprechend umso schwieriger gemacht. Bei unserer Unterkunft wurden wir mit einem Shake, Früchten und Smoothie empfangen und durften erst einmal ankommen. Währenddem konnte man in dem wunderschönen Garten eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Vögel beobachten. :) Mein Mann und ich haben mittags im Eingangsbereich Spiele gespielt und Randi hat uns kurz darauf große Gebäckstücke, Kaffee und Chips serviert (ohne etwas dafür zu verlangen)- an Hunger wird man dort also niemals leiden. :) Nachmittags haben wir dann unsere eigene Mini-Safari von Randi bekommen und haben die Gegend und dementsprechend die Natur erkundet. Randi hat sich sicherlich circa 2 Stunden Zeit genommen und alles genau erklärt. :) Das war eine ganz besondere Erfahrung :) Um abends etwas essen zu gehen durften wir uns den Roller umsonst ausleihen. Randi hat uns außerdem noch viele seiner Gedanken zur Unterkunft erklärt und seine Zukunftspläne. Das war alles richtig schön und persönlich. Wir haben auf jeden Fall vor noch einmal dort zu übernachten - sei es auch einfach nur, um die netten Menschen wiederzusehen ☺️

The location is fabulous, so peaceful opposite the lake, surrounded by wildlife, the host Randy and wife are the ultimate hosts, whatever you want or need they are on hand to make your stay unforgettable, Mr Randy knowledge is 2nd to none, his love of wildlife and nature is beautiful to see and watch, the safari he arranged for me delivered everything I had hoped for, Mr Randy picked the Safari guy and his knowledge was excellent, I will be returning in the not to distant future you arrive as a guest and leave as a family friend

Randy nous a aussi conseillé un guide pour le safari, Nissanka, qui a été absolument fantastique ! C'était l'une des plus belles expériences de notre vie !

Alles was hier goed, super lieve mensen en mooie locatie. Ruime kamer en badkamer. Randy is een fantastische man. Kregen een toertje door zijn dorp waar hij veel over vertelde en heeft een Top safari geregeld. Echt een aanrader!!!!!

We had a wonderful stay! We wished we could have stayed longer. The room was very comfortable and clean. The location is perfect if you love animals and birds. The host was the kindest person we met so far. He even arranged a free safari around the lake. This was amazing.

Randy und seine Frau sind einfach unglaublich herzlich und gastfreundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Er hat sich um jeden Wunsch - Safari, Essen, Fahrten in die Stadt direkt gekümmert und hat uns sogar im eigenen Auto zur nächsten Unterkunft an der Südküste gefahren. Abends hat er uns kostenlos die Gegend und einen weiteren Nationalpark gezeigt. Hier muss man übernachten wenn man zum Yala Nationalpark möchte.

¡Me gustó todo! El lugar es hermoso y las instalaciones son súper cómodas y muy limpias. Lo que más quiero destacar es la excelente atención del dueño, es muy atento y amable. Él nos reservó el safari al Parque Yala, que estuvo increíble: vimos muchos animales ¡y hasta 3 leopardos!

Nada todo es perfecto

Als ik het een 11 kon geven had in het gedaan! We kwamen 1,5 uur te vroeg aan voor inchecken, de eigenaar gaf ons een plekje om te relaxen. Hier kregen we meteen drinken en heerlijk te eten! Na ongeveer een uurtje konden we de kamer in. De eigenaar had ons uitgenodigd voor een tour met de tuktuk en dat volledig als cadeau. Het was prachtig en hij liet ons alle mooie plekjes zien. Een bijzonder lief stel en de kamers hebben we in heel Sri lanka nog niet zo mooi en schoon gehad! We hadden ook de safari en transfer door geregeld via het verblijf. Alles was tot in de puntjes geregeld. Een absolute aanrader!!!

We would definitely recommend staying here! The owner is really nice and gave us a free tour around the lake and talked to us about culture, the lake and animals that we have seen. The safari we booked here was very well arranged with a very good guide. The room is amazing, it looks very new and feels really clean.
