Alder Cabin

Nicht so sauber wie wir gehofft hatten und das Doppelbett ist sehr schmal. Bei der Nutzung von Waschmaschine und Trockner sprang die Sicherung wiederholt heraus.

Bisschen im Grünen, kurzer Weg mit Auto in die Stadt.

Leider fehlt bisschen Liebe zum Detail. Schrank kaputt und steht immer offen, leider recht dunkel, dunstabzug auch kaputt, Putzutensilien standen immer sichtbar rum. Da hätte ein schrank gut getan.

Prachtige locatie in de bossen, heel leuk huisje met fijn terras. Supervriendelijke eigenaresse.

Donna was an excellent host and provided complimentary bread, milk, butter, etc.

Donna hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen. In der Küche war alles für Frühstück vorbereitet. Das hat uns gefallen. Unterkunft sehr sauber.

Das Bett hatte wohl die in Irland üblichen Masse. Wir fanden etwas klein sowie auch die Zudecke.

Der Kontakt mit unseren Hosts war sehr herzlich. Zur Begrüßung gab es alles für ein Frühstück am nächsten Tag. Die Cabin war geschmackvoll eingerichtet und es gab in der Küche alles, was man so braucht.

Tucked in a lush quiet corner across from the river. Surrounded by birdsong and spring flowers. Spacious, working wood fireplace, comfortable living area and large bathroom. Well supplied kitchen. Within walking distance of downtown Kilkenny (35 mins).

Peaceful, fully equipped, good size, gorgeous nature surroundings, wonderfully welcoming host, Donna. Very comfy bed. Safe for solo female traveller. Great parking. Very generous food provided on arrival.

Donna was a lovely host. The cabin was so cosy, comfortable and quiet. It was such a beautiful cabin and the perfect place to relax. Everything you would possibly need was present. The breakfast food items were a lovely bonus. Highly recommend this property ❤️

We had a lovely stay here. The cabin is beautiful like home from home. Really cosy with a fire and all set for us to light with logs. Fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, porridge, milk and brown bread , butter and jam for breakfast. We felt right at home. The cabin is absolutely spotless and so peaceful. Highly recommend staying here. Donna is a lovely host and very friendly. Thanks again.

Everything! Great bathroom and kitchen. Comfortable couches and bedding. Beautiful surroundings out every window and a walk accross the lane to the gorgeous river!

A lot of amenities do not need to worry to bring my own stuff, and everything was very clean and tidy, there was folder with all the instructions in cabin and the message from the host explaining everything was very accurate.

This is really a place to stay! Alder cabin is like a holiday home on your own with a big and cosy living room incl kitchen (the host let bread, butter, milk, fruits, eggs, jam in the fridge and far more than enough for our stay). The location is very calm and you can hear the river (unfortunately while our stay we could not use the swimming spot there due to water contamination ). The bed could be a bit bigger and might therefore be to small for some.

Warm and cosy with a lovely atmosphere.

Location was so relaxing, the sound of the river Nore was so soothing. Donna is a fabulous host. The quality of the towels and throws was excellent. Loved all the literature that was left for perusal.

The only addition I can think this cottage needs is a wooden spoon! Everything else is there. And maybe some targeted lighting over the kitchen counter.

This is an absolutely amazing find! The cabin has everything you could need including a great bed, blankets, great shower and bathroom, fireplace, oven, utensils, washing machine and dryer, dish washer, iron and hair dryer. It is extremely comfortable and warm and has accessible options. The owner is very friendly and it’s just a 10 minute drive to Kilkenny City Centre. I would definitely recommend staying here!

We had a very nice stay. We self catered during our stay and everything we needed to cook was there. When we arrived, we found eggs, butter, milk and orange juice in the fridge. There was bread and cereals. The bed was nice, be it a bit small, but we noticed later on that this was the size wherever we stayed in Ireland.

So so cosy. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed with great mattress firmness. Much bigger even than it seems in pictures. Donna had left us butter, milk, brown bread, eggs orange juice, fruit, yoghurt and an array of teas and coffee, again I didn't expect this and it was just lovely. We took our cups of tea down by the river in the morning which was just georgous. We hope to be back.

A small, clean, and cozy cabin right across the bank of the river with everything needed for a couple of days' stay. It was as perfect as it could be - warm recommendation!

Breakfast was my own - it is a self catering arrangement. However, the owner had left some fresh provisions in the fridge for breakfast which were most welcome. The location was superb - lovely to hear the sound of the River Nore's Weir as you went to sleep.

It's very tricky to find in the dark - Donna's directions are excellent but in the pitch dark it was challenging. The spelling of Bleach Road is not recognised by Google Maps, Bleech Road is.

It was very good all round

Only complaint was the bed was a little small

Accommodation was great....secluded but had everything you needed. Short drive to town centre, Aldi & Lidl

It was well equipped and well located. It was very quiet and private. The cooking facilities were good: we cooked three meals whilst we were there. The seating area was comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and left us a lovely welcome package. I’d say it takes about a 35 minutes to walk to the centre of Kilkenny. It was a pleasant walk. Although I wouldn’t like to walk the route in the dark, but it was great, at this time of year, to be able to leave the car behind.

We are used to a super king size bed and found the bed quite narrow. However it was a standard 5ft bed and comfortable.

The property is clean and tidy, comfortable and had everything we needed! Having a washing machine and dishwasher is a real plus! The double bed was very comfortable and black out blinds meant we could have a lovely lie in. Enjoyable 25 min walk into the centre of Kilkenny and so lovely that Donna left in things for us to have for breakfast.

The cabin is secluded in a beautiful location , opposite the Weir swimming spot, which you can access from either side of the river. Kilkenny centre is only a few minutes away by car or about a 10 minute cycle. Everything you need is there, it’s spotlessly clean and the wet room is fully accessible to wheelchair users. Kitchen is very well kitted out with pots and utensils, a good pizza cutter, and good sized mugs ( no annoying tiny teacups). Donna had generously left tea, coffee, eggs, bread, jam, butter, fruit, milk, orange juice and porridge; a breakfast fit for a king!

The cabin was just what we wanted! Perfect in every way! Donna had left milk and a few breakfast bits… so welcoming!!

Great accommodation in an excellent location. we really enjoyed our short stay here.

The peacefulness and quiet around the area

This is self catering the fridge was stocked with all you need for breakfast. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing few days this is the place to go.

Can't think of anything i did not like. It is just a nice 20 min. walk to Kilkenny city with great places to eat.

Beautiful cabin, such a comfortable living area and everything you need for your stay is to hand. Stove and bottle of bubbly was great.

It's minor really but the bed is quiet small for a double

We had a lovely three night stay at Alder Cabin it's more suited to a couple, the host Donna met us upon arrival and was very welcoming she had the essential items of food left for us. The stove was lovely to have and very warm with only one stick at a time on it. Donna had left it ready to light with plenty of firewood also. Everything we needed in the kitchen was there plenty of kitchen utensils etc

The only negative feedback I can say is about the bathroom it has no shelves to place your toiletries etc and no hook on the door to hang clothing. Also the shower is directly at the door as you open it and is a wet room style so all the water gets all over the floor and dragged out into the living area also the smell from the shower trap was a bit overpowering so we had to keep the door closed. Also the TV only has Netflix this didn't bother us too much
