Best safari tour guide! Very easy going and friendly. Very passionate about all the animals and nature :) The accommodation was very cool, close to town so great for a little exploration. The food was very good and the rooms were very clean with all the amenities. The wifi was very good. Highly recommended.

Wundervolle Bungalows. Lage etwas weiter von der Stadt entfernt im Dschungel, am Fluss. Sehr ruhig! Viele Ameisen in der Outdoordusche.

Das nicht wechselnde Frühstück. Wenig Obst (ich esse viel!!) und Kokosnuss Wasser. Schade! Kein Trinkwasser zur Verfügung. Abendessen zweimal hintereinander das gleiche Essen. Keine Moskitonetze an den Fenstern.

Prachtige plek aan een rivier met af en toe bezoek van aapjes in de bomen. Hele mooie huisjes. Deze heeft de eigenaar eigenhandig gebouwd. Airco die geen geluid maakt. Dichtbij safaripark en stadje maar in de rust van de natuur. Lekker eten en behulpzame en vriendelijke familie.

It's a beautiful, little paradise. The sound of the beautiful river in front of the room and the birds were so sweet. The outdoor bathroom was also great! The hosts were very loving, kind and helpful. They organized a wonderful half-day safari. It was amazing. The food was amazing too! Highly recommended.

Sehr neue, gut ausgestattete Häuschen mit tollen und sauberen Betten und Bad. Der Garten mit Hängematten und Liegen ist gemütlich, die Lage für eine Safari perfekt. Frühstück ebenfalls sehr lecker. Preis-Leistung absolut top!

Mooie accomodatie met airco en buitendouche. We kregen ontbijt mee voor tijdens de safari. Goed geregeld en was heerlijk.Safari was moo, veel dieren gezien.

De prijs van de safari vonden we bij nader inzien erg hoog, maar de accomodatie kosten laag. Er wordt erg gestuurd om ook de safari te boeken. De familiekamer is qua grootte met 2 pubers prima voor één nacht, niet langer.

Il proprietario ha costruito interamente questo gioiello di resort curandone ogni aspetto, e si vede. Il rapporto qualita-prezzo è straordinario perché il posto vale tantissimo. Il proprietario è una persona deliziosa, attento ad ogni minima esigenza. Ci ha preparato una cena stupenda, ricca e davvero molto buona! La camera è spaziosa, pulita, con un bagno fantastico e con tutti i comfort necessari. Grazie Asanka!

Asanka and his wife did everything to make our stay to be perfect. From transport service, a warm welcome, safari arrangement and delicious food for breakfast and dinner, it has been great. The location of the resort is perfect for nature lovers being right beside a little river.Highly to recommend for a stay!

We had a wonderful stay! The rooms were clean and well-arranged, conveniently located close to each other, which made it perfect for our group. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful — ideal for relaxation. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They even arranged a delicious BBQ dinner for us at a very reasonable price. Despite being a small property, it had everything we needed, including a jacuzzi, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, it was a great experience, and we truly enjoyed our time there

Asanka, who runs this lodge, was very kind. He arranged all our transfers and tours at a very good price. We had the best Sri Lankan food we had during our 2 week vacation. The rooms were very clean and the safari was amazing.

The owners are attentive and professional. I found this place to be a unique setting. The beautiful river flowing in front of all the rooms, its sound and the melodious singing of many species of birds. Also booked the safari from the place and it was a professional and good value service. With a very clean room, breakfast and dinner were very good. Definitely a great place to stay.

I can't describe in words how much I enjoyed "Atha Safari". Everything here is perfect. The cabin is very clean, the beds, the wifi are all perfect. The park is built with great attention to the river in front. It is truly a green paradise. Book a safari with Asanka without fail. It was amazing. They took good care of me, I felt completely comfortable and welcome. I had breakfast and dinner. It was the best meal of my trip, they took into account that I don't eat meat. Thank you for everything, it was so heartwarming. I hope I can meet you again one day. My heart is filled with wonderful emotions. Never miss this.

The owners are amazing, very friendly and kind, the place is out of this world. You can definitely feel the atmosphere of a bird paradise. The best thing is the safari trip arranged by Asanka. The driver with over 15 years of experience was a very complete guide. Although I have been on safari many times even in African countries, this was my best safari trip. It was truly amazing. If you come to Udawalawe, do not miss this place. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place to stay. Even better than the photos. The room was clean and had WiFi, AC, hot shower, mosquito nets and comfortable beds. The hosts were super friendly and hospitable and looked after us very well. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, it was truly a green paradise. There is a charming river flowing by the room and you can enjoy wonderful bird calls throughout the day. The food was delicious, we enjoyed a variety of traditional Sri Lankan dishes, we highly recommend booking your safari through the hosts, we did, it was a treat. Our guide was fantastic and he happily shared his knowledge and passion for animals with us. We saw many elephants including baby elephants and many other animals and birds. He is a really good guide. Highly recommended for a multi-day holiday and long safari.

We really enjoyed our time here. The host was very helpful and organised our safari and transfer to our next destination. Our dinner and packed breakfast on the safari were excellent. Great value for money!

The place is a little paradise. Everything was perfect and the room was amazing. The food was delicious and the cleanliness was top notch. The wifi service was excellent. Their best feature is the excellent safari trip. They have a very knowledgeable guide and driver with 15 years of experience. Don't miss this place.

The location by the river is fabulous. The murmur of the river, together with the sound of cicadas, provides a peaceful background sound. You can enjoy it in the hammocks and beds in the garden. The rooms at this cosy resort are of great design with highly original elements. They are beautiful, spacious, clean, and well-equipped. Everything worked, and the staff was friendly. We had lunch, dinner, and breakfast at the resort, which were all very tasty. We had the riverview (King's) room for 1p, the deluxe room for 1p, and the villa for 2. The latter two rooms have a cute porch with chairs. The safari we booked through the resort was very good. The driver/guide knows his job. He drove us around safely, and showed many animals. Communication with Asanka was easy and fast. It was very convenient that we could pay by creditcard.

Hardly anything. Perhaps the only comment I can give is that, unfortunately, the jacuzzi was empty. But I guess that was to be expected at the start of the rainy season... Wifi was a bit unstable, but that is quite usual in Sri Lanka and not a problem if you have good local roaming.

It is a wonderful, beautiful cottage. Very clean and everything is functional. The hospitable owner Asanka was a great host. Taxis and a safari were arranged for us. The food was excellent. . A wonderful location close to the safari park. The sound of the river and the birds are amazing. Great for a few days' vacation. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Süße Hütten inmitten paradiesischer Lage (zwischen Palmen und Fluss, exotische Tiergeräusche inklusive). Asanka hat uns wirklich JEDEN Wunsch erfüllt (Massagetermin gebucht, Weltbeste Safari organisiert, uns überall hingefahren oder TukTuk organisiert und uns lecker bekocht). Beim Frühstück wurden wir von einem Leguan besucht :-) Für den Preis unglaublich!!!

Unglaublich für den Preis: süße Hütten, überragender Service von Asanka. Absolute Empfehlung!!!! Unbedingt die Safari über ihn buchen: unser Guide hat wirklich jedes Tier gesehen und uns alles toll erklärt. Asanka kann auch eine prima Ayurveda-Massage empfehlen!!! Wir und unsere Kinder (11 und 13) hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt.

Atha was the perfect location … the accommodation is so cute… small huts by the river… but beautiful…with patios and hammocks and awesome views .. this place is a bargain for the price! Just a feast for the eyes… staff accommodating…delicious dinner..one of the best dinners in all Sri Lanka.. can bathe in the river or just enjoy the view. We were very late arriving and then our safari was delayed but staff were fully accommodating through it all…This is a place where wedding engagements happen..it is that awesome

The host was lovely and went above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable. He was able to organise safari for us to see the animals in the local area. The huts were really cute, air conditioned and good shower facilities. The kids loved playing on the hammocks. The food was great, really fresh and made to suit western tastebuds! Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Unterkunft ist sehr gut ausgestattet mit Klima etc. Und alles ist sauber :) hatten ein lecker zubereitetes Abendessen von unserem Host und auch die organisierte Safari war 10/10 und voll zu empfehlen.

In a beautiful location by the river. Very quiet apart from the birds and animals. The service is fabulous, Asanka & his team cannot do enough for you. They provided us with a transfer from Ella and an onward transfer to the coast. Both reasonably priced. There are cold beers and cold soft drinks. We had one dinner there which was plentiful and delicious. We stayed in the King room. The room was comfortable and air conditioned. The bathroom is outdoor. The accommodation is very remote but that’s why it is so quiet.

Dit resort is echt een verborgen parel met een super vriendelijke en behulpzame host. Midden in het groen, de apen slingeren langs door de bomen. De kamers zijn wat klein voor een gezin van vier, maar de jacuzzi en rivier maken het meer dan goed.

Het avondeten was meerdere dagen achter elkaar ongeveer hetzelfde.

Purtroppo abbiamo trascorso una sola notte in questo piccolo resort , è esattamente come appare nelle foto, curato in ogni dettaglio, pulitissimo, immerso nella natura..... è un angolo di paradiso ❣️Asanka, Il proprietario è veramente una persona speciale, così dolce, ha fatto l'impossibile per rendere il nostro soggiorno indimenticabile.....offre un servizio veramente impeccabile.....i pasti abbondantissimi e super gustosi, il safari molto ben organizzato e anche il servizio driver tutto altamente professionale. ..il rapporto qualità prezzo davvero eccezionale!!! Durante il nostro soggiorno ho avuto un piccolo incidente e Asanka ha contattato subito il suo autista per farmi accompagnare in un ottimo ospedale!!! At det lå et helt unikt smukt sted. Ud over det havde det søde værtspar selv bygget og udsmykket stedet som var fyldt med sjæl.

Jeg vil ikke anbefale familier at bo i et “telt”. Det var alt for småt og mørkt og havde dårligt indeklima . Så ville vi som familie med børn på 5 og 8 havde valgt en anden hytte.

Voor het verblijf een zeer goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Glamping in de jungle. Kamers waren goed, alleen wat krap voor de 4persoonskamer. Avondeten was ook erg goed.

Via verblijfde safari geboekt. 84.000 roepies voor 6 uur Safari met 3 kinderen en 2 volwassenen in privé jeep. We voelden ons hier wat mee bekocht... Entree voor het park is maar $20 voor volwassenen.

Wunderschöne Anlage mitten im Jungle. Die Hütte war wirklich toll und auch echt cool mit dem Außenbad. Ein Glück hatte es auch eine Klimaanlage, sonst wäre das eindeutig eine kurze Nacht gewesen. Wir haben auch dort zu Abend gegessen, was wirklich fantastisch war. Alles selbst gekocht und eine riesen Auswahl an traditionellem Essen. Man konnte sich auch kalte Getränke kaufen. Was auch toll war, ist der Fluss der direkt dort fließt, in dem man auch entspannt baden kann. Wirklich toll & erfrischend! Auch einfach seine Seele in den Hängematten baumeln lassen und den Jungle Geräuschen zuhören war wunderbar. Am nächsten Tag hatten wir auch sie Safari gebucht, welche wirklich toll war & sehr zu empfehlen.

Man wusste nicht wie viel zb Abend und Getränke gekostet haben, was es bei der Abrechnung am nächsten Tag etwas kompliziert gemacht hat, da der besitzer nicht da war und alle anderen kein Englisch konnten. Das erschien uns etwas teuer.

Tolle Lage, wunderbare und liebevoll ausgestattete Anlage mit Flussblick, Affen und Streifenhörnchen. Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Hostelbesitzer, die alles bestens für einen arrangieren. Bestes selbstgekochtes Essen. Die gebuchte Safari Tour war hervorragend und wir haben viele Tiere gesehen. Danke für die schöne Zeit.

Op een paar minuutjes ben je met de tuktuk in het levendige Udawalawe, waar je lekker kan eten in plaatselijke eethuisjes, maar ook wat grotere, op toeristen mikkende, restaurants zijn. Erg vriendelijke en behulpzame uitbater. De prijs/kwaliteit-verhouding is hier uitzonderlijk.

afwisseling in aangeboden maaltijden: lunch en diner zijn in grote mate identiek, maar dat is ook in Sri Lankaanse horeca geen uitzondering. Dat je toch een goed kwartier onderweg bent naar de ingang van het safaripark, vonden wij geen probleem. We zouden de safari (die tegenvalt wanneer je veel wildvariatie verwacht) niet opnieuw boeken via deze accommodatie: uiteindelijk vonden we dit te duur en denken we dat je ter plaatse zelf goedkoper terecht kunt.

Not enough words describe the beauty of this place and the effort of the owner Asanka to make our stay perfect, welcoming all our requests. We stayed in Villa, a spacious room with A/C. In the evening we had a good typical dinner and in the morning Asanka was so kind to prepare a breakfast box at 5am as we had a Safari. Don’t pretend to be in a luxury stay, but if you would like to feel the real nature of Sri Lanka, this is the right place!

Das Resort liegt wunderschön gelegen, im Grün direkt an einem Fluss. Die ganze Anlage ist liebevoll mit unzähligen Steinen gestaltet und sehr ansprechend. Es gibt Liegestühle und Hängematten. Klar ist, dass man einen "Campingplatz" bucht. Wir würden es eher als Glamping bezeichnen. Die "Zelte" sind zu viert sehr eng, aber ausreichend. Jedes Bad ist außerhalb des Zeltes mit einem kleinen offenen Anbau und hin und wieder gibt es kleinere Besucher - Camping eben. Jedes Bett hat Moskitonetze, die sehr hilfreich sind. WLAN ist vorhanden, aber langsam - wie überall in Sri Lanka :) Die Klimaanlage in den Zelten ist ein Segen und funktioniert hervorragend😊 Der Gastgeber ist unwahrscheinlich freundlich und zuvorkommend, hilft bei allen Anliegen. Hat uns eine tolle Safari im Nationalpark mit einem Privatjeep organisiert. Seine Frau und seine Mutter kochen unfassbar leckeres Sri Lankisches Essen. Die Portionen waren immer sehr reichlich. Sowohl Frühstück als auch Abendessen können wir wärmstens empfehlen. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis der Unterkunft und des Essens absolut top! Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen, sollten wir Udawalawe nochmal besuchen. Wir können es nur wärmstens empfehlen bei Atha und seiner Familie zu übernachten.

Die Unterkunft ist schlicht aber sehr liebevoll hergerichtet und wunderbar im Dschungel gelegen. Erholung pur! Das Essen war fantastisch. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit zurückkehren.

From first contact when we booked we had excellent communication and arranged a safari day through their service . We were welcomed with a cold juice to a Clean and well presented lodge with an en-suite outdoor bathroom which was unique and a first for me, the aircon worked brilliantly and so did the wifi The beds had insect nets and there’s a fridge in the room too There are hammocks outside the lodges and the sound of the river was calming The resort is well maintained with nice gardens We planned a whole day safari trip and we had a packed breakfast and lunch with us for the trip The National park is a short drive from the accommodation Our guide was excellent We had a jeep to ourselves We had a picture guide book of all the park animals and binoculars which helped see some of the rarer birds clearly We were able to see elephants, monkeys, water buffalo, crocodile, turtles, deer, mongoose, lizard, owl, kite, changeable eagles, serpent eagle, bee eaters, peacocks, toucan, kingfishers, jungle fowl, and hoopoe (beautiful little bird) Excellent day out and really enjoyed it We had dinner at the accommodation They catered well for vegan diet and provided an excellent spread The owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable

Wir haben als dreiköpfige Familie mit unserer fünfjährigen Tochter zwei wunderschöne Tage im Atha Safari Resort verbracht. Das Grundstück ist sehr schön gestaltet, besonders der Flusslauf, durch den man waten kann, war ein Highlight für uns und unsere Tochter – eine tolle Möglichkeit, die Natur direkt zu erleben. Asanka war unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er hat uns geduldig jede Frage beantwortet und uns bei der Organisation einer Safari unterstützt. Die dreistündige Safari (44.000 Rupien) war für uns mit kleinem Kind genau die richtige Wahl. Der Guide war äußerst kenntnisreich und hat uns viel über die Tierwelt und die Umgebung erzählt. Wir hatten das Glück, viele Elefanten, Krokodile, Wasserbüffel, Schakale und eine beeindruckende Vielfalt an Vögeln zu sehen. Insgesamt können wir das Atha Safari Resort wärmstens empfehlen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war sehr gut. Die Natur, die Tierbeobachtungen und der freundliche Service haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

Beautifully built resort with great meals and a passionate owner. But what was the best is the safari that they organized: we have a feeling that we saw many more different species of animals than other jeeps. These animals were swiftly chased, pointed, and described by the driver/guide!

We thought we would swim in the river, but it turned out rather dirty. Also, "lake view" should be renamed to something more accurate.

We loved the location right by the river that you can pop into for a little dip (definitely recommend, such a wonderful experience!). The whole resort has been lovingly designed and build by owner Atha and the attention to detail really shows. We stayed in the kind room and it was spacious with an AC and a private bathroom with an open shower overlooking the jungle. The family cooked up a massive spread for dinner and breakfast consisting of a variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes that we absolutely loved.

The pillows were a bit dirty. The safari we had booked through them was very entertaining but our guide could have provided more information about the wildlife we encountered.

We stayed in Atha Safari for 2 nights with our kids and we were thrilled by the place. First of all the garden is beautiful and very well maintained with huge hammocks and with a little pool, where our kids were having a great time. The resort is located in the sleepier part of Udawalawe, so you can see the jungle with monkeys around. After sitting on a jeep for 4 hours safari it's really nice to splash into the river right next to the garden. The bungalow has everything you need, the outside bathroom is fun and what was highly appreciated by us, that every bungalow has its own boiler full with hot water!!:) Solar energy didn't work well at other accommodations during our trip because of rainy days...:(

The first time I stayed in a camping area was one of my most memorable holidays in Sri Lanka. The nature surrounding this place makes you feel like you're living in a forest. The mud house is clean and the beds are very comfortable. It will take you 15 minutes to get to Udawalawa National Park and 10 minutes to get to the elephants transit home. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and I want to thank Asanka [ Owner ], Dewa and Janka was the most impressive safari guide I have ever witnessed. To ensure you have the best safari experience, please request Janaka. Without a doubt, I will come back again.

Amazing location, super nice hosts, the king bedroom is very beautiful. We had to book with them last minute, very late in the afternoon and the hosts made everything possible and they have even prepared a good dinner for us.

Some of the rooms are very close to each other and you can easily hear your neighbours.

This place is very unique right on the river itself. The safari we did was amazing and our guide was super helpful and knowledgeable. The owners prepared some lovely food for us on arrival, and they were very friendly and keen to help.

We had some rather noisy neighbours and the tent walls are thin as expected. It was unfortunate and not the owners fault but a polite reminder that other guests can hear everything might help in the future.

A beautiful, relaxing resort with an amazing host Asanka, who made our stay just perfect.

It was so great staying here. We are sorry that we stayed only one night. The houses are amazing, the river is passing and animals sounds, real jungle.

The rooms were overlooking a river with access to swim. External areas were beautifully decorated and kept tidy Don’t forget mosquito repellent for the tiny midges ! Host was very helpful organising a jeep safari with English speaking driver who took us deep into jungle to see many different animals in their authentic setting rather than just elephants near the entrance

Full day Safari included breakfast and lunch, both were very basic. For the Safari price would expect higher quality - suggest a stir fried rice with vegetables or a vegetable noodle soup

Très bel hôtel, bien situé, juste 6/7 chambres, vraiment cosy. La rivière passe à côté, on peu même d’y baigner Le personnel au petit soin.

Les cailloux ( pied nu) font mal aux pieds.

Wunderschön hergerichtete Anlage mit ganz viel Liebe zu Detail. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und mit allem versorgt, was wir brauchten. Das Frühstück war großzügig und lecker. Auch zum Abendessen wurden wir landestypisch versorgt. Die Safari, welche wir über die Unterkunft gebucht war atemberaubend.

Great location next to river

We stayed in the “kings room” really beautiful room that the owner has made himself. The whole place is worth so much more than you pay for. They help you with everything, and the food they make you is just incredible. We where not expecting this when we came. And the little pool made my kid love the place even more. Highly recommended!!

Its a sweet place, away from the town at the river. We loved the hammocks and river. it was a lot of monkeys and animals. The hosts were fantastic and the food was amazing. We had a beautiful time and spent two nights in their huts. The safari with the place was great.

Its just a bit away from everything, but we only wanted to do a safari anyway.

A little paradise. The beautiful river in front of the room and the sound of the birds are amazing. A great value safari at the best price.

Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka so far. The hosts were amazing - very friendly and all the staff were well trained and very attentive. The large hammocks and jacuzzi tub were a nice touch and the breakfast was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the home cooked Sri Lankan curry buffet - it was delicious. Their best feature is the amazing safari trip. It was half a day and 100% perfect. Definitely recommended.
