Loved the beach, we had a bit of a sea view from our room. The decor of the room was very cute with a retro vibe to it. Very clean.

The room was right next to the busy road that goes through town, some large vehicles passing close by in the evening and early morning. I think this would not be a problem for the units closer to the beach.

Lovely room by the beach perfect for our stay.home away from home 🥰 Love how they welcome you with your name on the door. Special touches oh and the lollies in the fridge

Beautiful stay, nice spacious room for a family of 4. The room itself was clean, and had all needed necessities for our overnight stay. Located on the beachfront and next to a playground the location was awesome for all in the family to enjoy :) Thank you Driftwood, highly recommend and would stay again

We loved the location right on the beach as well as the clean and comfy room, modern shower and small kitchen, but with everything you might need!

We loved it all!

We are local to the area and the only thing I liked about this property is the fact that it’s on our beach.

Where do I start. MOULD on the walls down the side of the beds. STAINS along the benches and walls like they hadn’t been wiped properly in months. I know it’s a pet friendly place but there was a dog not belonging to any guests just coming in the rooms and barking at our kids. And the most uncomfortable part of the whole stay was when we were all checking out, trying to sort our kids and belongings out and we were approached by a lady with cleaning tubs, she left one on the ground where one of our toddlers could access the cleaning chemicals this was unacceptable. In all the 100s of accommodations I’ve stayed at, never have I ever been approached before or during checkout, it was uncomfortable, unpleasant and unprofessional I will not be returning to this accommodation nor do I recommend it to anyone.

We were in Cockle Cottage - very nice indeed. Beautifully fitted out with exceptionally good quality furniture and kettle/toaster and pretty little extra ornaments that matched the decor. They have gone to a lot of trouble to make it very homely and very comfortable.

Fabulous spot, right by the beach, plenty of room and very clean and tidy. Would recommend.

Shower hot water pressure was not at all good. Ok in summer when just rinsing off from the beach but not so much in June.

We didnt like lack comfortable seating! We didn't like the tiny coffee cups and the filthy glasses, cookware limited and too large for elements!

I have rated this property so highly I booked an additional night. See my previous comments regarding the quality of the property. Exceptional value for money in a location that would be hard to beat no matter where you were in the world.

Beautiful location , in a beautiful part of the world.

It said Freeview tv , etc. However , it didnt work . But I didnt care too much about that ; I had free wifi for my phone , and had a totally relaxing stay.

A washing line for towels and togs would be great but otherwise the place is perfect.

Beautiful view, steps from the water, cute and comfortable. Shirley went out of her way to arrange for us to stay an extra night. We loved it so much we didn't want to leave!

Location just stunning, really nice check in process. They write your name on the glass ranch slider with a welcome.

Unfortunately the battery in the TV remote had expired, luckily I had some with me. Maybe the coffee mugs could have been bigger! But all 1st world problems.

So gut wie alles! Top Lage direkt am Strand! Und die Gastgeber Rosemary & Brian sind super und gebem siper Tipps! Leider konnten wir die Unterkunft aufgrund des Zyklons nicht voll geniessen.

The location is amazing - right on the beach. Like being at a beach front resort without the buffet. Low water pressure fixed quickly. Kitchen facilites were good. We used the laundry which was $4 a load.

The first night we were there we noticed the water pressure was very low, wasnt until having a shower next morning that we realised how bad- shower was literally a dribble. However this was very quickly rectified when we text'd the manager/owner.

Delightfully charming accommodation in a stunning location. We stayed here with our two daughters aged 8 and 5 years, who spent many happy hours collecting shells and playing in the little stream in front of the hotel. There's also a playground right next door, which our daughters loved. The location is also great for day trips to the wider Far North, like Cape Reinga and Matauri Bay. Already hoping to come back soon.

Lovely cozy cottage nearby the beach. Had all the facilities we needed.

Amazing location, a perfect place to relax.

We had stayed here before and never got to meet the staff but that was ok. We stayed in the cockel cottage it was comfortable but I think maybe some of the flooring may give way soon as it was soft in some places. Other than that really enjoyed our stay

No water, seemed to have a plumbing problem the whole stay, water was not even coming out of the taps most of the time, made it hard for four of us to have a shower, oven did not work, only on a grill function and had no oven trays which made for a difficult time when we wanted to make a pizza, beds were very uncomfortable and there is no couch in the room, just dining chairs, also our towels were only refreshed once I messaged and asked on the 3rd day, bit of a shame because I see on other reviews from last year, the same issues that haven't been resolved, feel like it had the most amazing view and location, just a few problems that took away from the experience

Wir waren leider nur für eine Nacht, wir wären gerne länger geblieben. Fantastische Lage, tolle Ausstattung und die Begrüßung an der Tür hat uns ein Lächeln ins Gesicht gezaubert

Location is superb. Beautiful beach, every unit has that lovely beach view, with nice decks/ patio seating. 5 min drive to local supermkt, service stn + hallelujah, a chargenet electric car charger. Units clean + welcoming..

We stayed in large Nautilus unit (#5) upstairs, in a big 2 day storm. The unit looked lovely at first glance. But bedrooms + kitchen cupbds smelt damp, + cockroaches appeared at night ! One Q bed was old + had sunken springs. Only power point in that room was inaccessible behind a large chest of drawers, so no bedside lighting + phone charging point. The single bed in lounge under high windows, had no curtains/ blinds to sufficiently darken that area, nor bedside light or power point. Bathroom sink was very slow draining. Ground coffee was in a jar and aged + damp. We told Rosemary about all this + we agreed that unusually wet weather this summer was somewhat to blame. She apologised + gave us a generous discount for our last (4th) night, in a smaller but much better upstairs unit ( #4 Huia).

Amazing location with direct beach access and beautiful views from the front porch. Perfect spot for nice beach walks or for exploring Northland. Will definitely return if in the area again.

Location was beautiful we can't wait to go back. The kids made use of the boogie boards and playground all right there.

Only because of a sore back the bed was extremely soft.

No breakfast available. The deck & beachfront view from the room was superb. The decor was bright and colourful & suited the ambience of the apartments & their on-the-beach setting. The bed was comfortable, room facilities & bathroom were good and the staff were very friendly. We booked to stay an extra night because the place was so appealing & relaxing.

Sehr schöner Strand. Ich würde gerne wieder kommen aber nicht Cottage Nr.8. Hätte ich das das negative gewusst, hätte ich sehr gerne mehr bezahlt um ein besseres Cottage zu zu buchen.

Ich kann nur über das Cottage Nr 8 schreiben. 4 tage nur aus dem Koffer. Kein Schrank. Kein Kasten. Aussicht mehrheitlich nur auf das Dach der des vor uns liegenden Cottages, nur wenig vom Strand sichtbar

Super Lage direkt am Strand, keine Straße davor, ruhig, sauber, geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Küchenausstattung perfekt.

The location is everything. The golden sands are right on the edge of the deck and it’s a serene little corner of paradise. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need.

There was a bit of noise from the upstairs room. Could hear them walking around and talking at night. Even with that small disruption of noise I know I’ll be back to stay again. It was paradise.

Great beachfront location with views in the beautiful Cable Bay beach. Comfortable and clean cottage with all the amenities needed, including air conditioning. Comfortable bed. Allowing our dog was a big bonus. We would come back for another stay.

The room we stayed was very close to the highway, but it was quiet in the evenings, so for us it wasn't a big problem. The shower pressure was also quite low.
