Reviewed Aug 21, 2026Mooie rustige ligging. Tijdens ons verblijf was er weinig te beleven in dorpje maar het is natuurlijk ook rustiger. Comfortabele en gezellige kamers. Lekker gegeten in restaurant, ook lekker ontbijt. Kolonie apen aanwezig wat het toch een extra dimensie gaf.

Wir hatten 2 Zimmer, das eine war nachts sehr laut, eine Art Motorengeräusch von oben, wie eine Klimaanlage, unsere war aber nicht an. Morgens war der Lärm weg. Da nachts keiner an der Rezeption ist, konnten wir da auch nicht nachfragen. Ich habe das am nächsten Morgen erwähnt, der junge Mann an der Rezeption hat sehr übertrieben reagiert und von Polizei zur Abklärung geredet. Das hat etwas verwirrt. Aber keine Ahnung was es war!

L'interruption de la connexion internet pendant plus de 24h, tout à fait imprévisible : les babouins qui vivent ds la réserve ont arraché les fils... La chambre familiale située à l'étage est certes vaste, mais mal équipée en prises et l’ interrupteur du plafonnier est situé à l'opposé de la porte d'entrée.

You can take a short walk to the nearest town, and town itself is very safe and local people are also very friendly. You can see the cows and horses walk around the town peacefully.

I even turned around and offered her a hug to thank her for her hospitality, before we left. She certainly deserves a raise, because she knows her job back to front and is an asset to the business.🌟💯
If I was being pedantic, I could probably find things to complain about. However, I felt our stay was good overall. One of my better stays to be honest, without any unforseen circumstances. The inclusive breakfast was brilliant.

We had a delicious traditional meal in the restaurant and the breakfasts were good too. There is a spa on the premises, although I didn’t have any treatments. I would recommend staying here.

Reviewed Feb 10, 2026Das Personal war nett Das Essen ist gut (egal ob Abendessen im Restaurant oder Frühstück, wobei da gibt’s nur Filterkaffee)
Die Zimmer haben sehr muffig gerochen. So sehr, dass uns beim Check-In gleich angeboten wurde, wenn wir das erste Zimmer zu schlimm finden können wir gern in ein anderes einchecken. Das haben wir auch gemacht aber auch das zweite roch furchtbar. Lüften ging leider nicht lange weil es trotz Lage mitten im Nationalpark keine Insektengitter gibt. Die Klimaanlage hat extrem getropft, es wurde eine Badewanne darunter gestellt. Durch die Dusche läuft ein verschimmeltes Rohr. Angeblich ist es der sicherste Ort in Südafrika, das glaub ich auch weil man muss 70 ZAR Maut zahlen um die Straße nehmen zu können dorthin. (Man muss diese Straße jedoch ohnehin nehmen wenn man die Garden Route fährt) ich muss sagen ich fand es total unheimlich. Wenn die letzte Mitarbeiterin fährt ist man mit anderen Hotelgästen alleine (in unserem Fall mit 2 anderen Pärchen) mitten im nirgendwo. Wenn wir das nächste Mal in SA sind, werden wir einfach am Abreisetag aus Plettenberg im Tsitsikamma Nationalpark halt machen, den kleinen Walk gehen und dann weiterfahren und wo anders übernachten; oder es als Tagesausflug von Plettenberg Bay aus machen. Man muss im Nationalpark nämlich Eintritt bezahlen für die Wanderungen und überall hin mit dem Auto fahren, und das nimmt einem auch diese sauteure muffige Unterkunft nicht ab. War das erste mal in unserem Leben, dass wir einfach gefahren sind und die 2. Nacht verfallen haben lassen obwohl wir sie schon bezahlt hatten.

De lodge in authentieke stijl heeft een uitstekend restaurant met vriendelijk personeel, lekker zwembad en bevindt zich op loopafstand van de hoofdstraat van het dorp. Parkeergelegenheid op het terrein is ruim beschikbaar. Alle aspecten zijn goed in balans. De locatie is top, bevindt zich in het centrum van Tsitsikanna park van waaruit je de trail prima kan doen. Het park is zo groot dat je wel altijd de auto moet gebruiken
Het ontbijt is prima, maar als je wat langer blijft (meerdere) dagen, dan zou deze iets uitgebreider of gevarieerder mogen zijn. Op een goed ontbijt kunnen je lang teren, want in de parken is nergens catering.

Alles ziemlich runter gerockt, nachdem es geregnet hatte war alles ein wenig klamm. Frühstück war ok, aber nichts besonderes. Unserer bitte keinen roomservice zu machen wurde nicht nachgekommen.

Die Lage ist sehr schlecht und weit vom Nationalpark entfernt. Ich wurde angelogen und es hieß, dass das Hotel nur 5 Kilometer entfernt ist und der Shuttel nur R100 kosten würde. Das war eine Lüge. Aufgrund dieser Lüge hatte ich noch eine weitere Nacht in dem Hotel gebucht. Ich kann jedem Reisenden nur raten: sucht euch eine Unterkunft im Nationalpark. Der Shuttel kostet nämlich soviel wie die Nacht in der lodge, das macht keinen Sinn. Vertraut nur auf Preise, die aufgeschrieben werden oder sichtbar sind und vertraut nicht auf Preisangaben von den Mitarbeitern. Zudem kostet das Waschen von 6-8 Kleidungsstücken mit Kapstadt oder Hermanus verglichen das drei- bis vierfache. Es macht keinen Sinn, wascht Kleidung vorher. Mein bester Rat an alle Lesenden : die Lodge ist gut, keine Frage. Es passt alles. Aber dieses Hotel macht aufgrund der Lage keinen Sinn für Reisende. Nutzt niemals einen Shuttle - das ist Abzocke. Bucht euch sofort eine Unterkunft in den Park. Ich bin die komplette Gardenroute lang gereist und kann euch sagen - die Lage des Hotels ist das wichtigste. Fragt keine Hotelmitarbeiter, sie lügen. Und wählt nicht dieses Hotel, weil es schlecht gelegen ist.

Reviewed Jan 14, 2026We stayed in the garden cottage which was spacious and clean. There is a fireplace inside and a bath and a shower. The bed was comfortable and there are two outdoor seating areas. They came in every day to clean.
Value for money wise this property is not worth it. We specifically booked a room with a braai and the staff came rolling in with the braai an hour later after we requested it and took it away again for other guests to use. The staff were unprepared for our arrival and could not even locate our room key. There seems to be a lack of clear job duties as we dealt with multiple people who did not even introduce themselves. The cottage is squeezed into the back and there was a sewer smell at the back patio all the time. The room is also located next to what looked like a rubbish disposal site. There is private parking for the cottage but it is incredibly difficult to reverse out of. The breakfast was average at best and only served until 9:30. Some people like to sleep a bit later on holiday. The location is also just too far away from the village centre to walk to quickly and no options were made available for my lactose intolerance at breakfast.

A pity we didn't have proper filter coffee for the price we paid. This should be standard. Some furniture needs replacing (bed in loft and sofa on patio at cottage, Aircon repairs).
